Unfortunatly there are no higher quality pics out at the moment.

I recently watched through the subbed Mai-Hime for the first time and I never would have guessed it would become one of my favorites. That is why I will without a doubt buy this game when it's out which is January 31, 2006 in Japan.

Looks to be a 3D fighting game for the PSP not unlike the Bleach titles if you have played them as well.

Characters included based on what we know are:

Mai
Midori
Natsuki
Miyu
Akane
Nao
Akira

and possibly Mikoto as well seeing as she is on the cover. But this is only what I have gathered from screenshots and even though we are close to release I do not doubt that more characters will make an appearence.

There was a thread but it got lost after the forum hack. I saw a magazine scan and it added Akane and Nao as playable characters (by the way, why did you list Mai by her last name?). IIRC Miyu and Akira are unlockable characters. I think there's another game due out later in the year that features the remaining characters.

Sorry about the Mai thing there, it slipped my mind which was her first name, fixed.

Though I wonder if they will model everyones child in 3D considering compared to the characters they are much more detailed. It would be nice though and more than likley contribute to more of an impact when you see them asuming that the characters all use specials like the bleach game characters do or something like that.

k , now its psp knowledge:D , as for short, psp games are region code free, so any psp will work on it....the version for this game should be v2.6 , so anyone who doesnt wan to update the latest version for their psp are not "allowed" to play this game ^^
only umb disk are region code locked to the specific country, which doesnt applied to u, if u don buy them

there is "gallery" mode where you can download clips from the game... (and they surely bring back old memories)... there's name mistake though (I don't know whether it's intentional or not) such as mei, aoi, etc...

after i completed the story game than comes the ending bmg, just like anyother ending for a anime or drama. once the ending finished, it then changed the scenario to nagi, standing right at the top of the building telling them that hime game has just started then bla bla bla... after he finish his speech, right at the bottom it appeared

so i can presume that this is the "part 2" of the game.

What I'm wondering is if all 13 (now 14, with Arika added) characters will be playable. So far I've seen Shiho, Shizuru, Fumi, Yukariko, Yukino, Mai, Natsuki, Mikoto, Midori, and Nao from the previews. But yet unseen are Miyu (at least in combat), Akira, and Akane. And Arika as a secret character could bring the total to 14 characters.

According to the translation through WorldLingo, all characters will be returning. We'll see if that comes to pass.

New features:
* More costumes for all characters. New character animation added: pre-fight stance, idle, end-round victory pose (I think). Dodging and parrying is being added (I think). Combo hit indication. New character selection and pre-fight dialogue pictures added to reflect the current costume choice.

* Battle Royal mode: Player vs. I think 5 CPU opponents. Match winners can add the abilities of thier opponents child ot themselves. Dark Mikoto acts as the boss of the mode and appears when only one character is still standing.

its not only base on fighting.. fighting feature only consisted of 30% of the total game..
40% is rpg/drama , 20% consisted of mini games and the remanining 10% is the special feature..where u can playback some hime bmg, some char voice which only can be heard in psp and picture gallery.

bascially its a story game, u have to complete the story game first before u access those special feature (mini games and library)
in between of the story, u get to play some mini games related to the story..(eg where natsuki hitch biking ) and the battle games also story related.

once u completed , u get to access those mini games that u played in the story mode and access all the char in the battle mode feature..


this first part of the psp stands the first half of the story(mai defeated alyssa

so generally this is mainly all the going on in that game.

I want to know if her ultimate attack will involve the Child from the fake movie promo or if they'll go for Bolt from the Blue. Either way, if she's in I figure everyone else will be as well. The thought of seriously kicking ass with characters who were weak in the show (read, Yukino) really appeals to me.

i tried for weeks but i cant beat the score.. and this the only level in the mini games i cant unlocked the present..
am quite pro in DDR using controller but , this game isnt right for me.. :/

no prob , i just give a rough detail in the mini games. (am lazy to get my psp from my room >_>")



generally there are 8 mini games which you can unlocked once u completed the story games along wif the library feature too.
but well, u can also play the mini games while during game mode(it doesnt matter u if u fail to pass the game, it wont affect whether u gonna restart that chapter)

some detail about the mini games, featuring:

mai->cooking games, similar to DDR by using controller to press the correct button when it reached the spot.(once u beat the score, u will see mikoto satisfaction expression)
midori-> a very easy games..or the game is quite tedious to play... a boosting power game, simply be quick hander by repeatively keep pressing the same button until it reached red line. after u succeed u will get to hear midori commanding phrase when she releases gatenou power.
akane->dishes switching games , you must arrange the dishes where it fitted the position of the orginal example they given u. by only switching 2 plate at one go, they are all in a straight lines
miyu-> alyssa singing games, similar DDR game(the game for level 3 i cant unlock..)u will get to listen her songs (its only a fairy tales) while during game play u need to press the exact button when it reached the circle, but this time is different ,there are 2 circle at one go.
mikoto-> swimming game, similar to midori style game where u repeatively pressing the same button, for this case u need to keep pressing until u reach the shore, there will be tide and fishes pushing u back to the sea..(much tiring game that applied to ur whole arms...)
natsuki-> natsuki hitch biking game :D , there are variant button appeared at the screen, u needed to press the exact button to proceed to another one, once u pressed a wrong button, the part will be voided and no points being reward..so u just have to be fast and accurate in order to beat the score
akira-> the only game that apply u to use analog. where akira spelling out the code to summon her "sakae".. 1 prefect circle u turn unlock 1 code until u reached all 9 of them, at the same time u also needed to avoid the attack of failling knife.
lastly...nao-> mathematics solving game.. by breaking the eggs that nao is holding until it reaches the number "0"(there is numberical on the egg) remember the part in MH where mikoto breaks serveral undamaged egg in all the bowl and plate she found? but both nat and nao failed to do that. Remaining number that was over the "0" marks, means u failed and next egg wif new number was given.
ah forget to mentioned there are also 3 eggs wif number, choose between any of them to break ur egg (button ,circle, X and square) failed to beat the score at the time limit, u will get to hear nao saying" baka mitai"

so basically is like this..but before u play the game , they will give u further instruction. there are a total number of 3 level for each mini games, unlock 1 of them will add addition feature in the library. there are 3 catergory in the library. (music(kajira yuki, seiyuu voice u never heard from anime) , photo gallery and video)

I just played the game and I have to tell, it's more fun to play the mini games than the fighting part (it's one of the worst fighting game that I had to play)
The good part is that you can see again all the episodes through images, videos and musics from the anime and all the seiyuus are present.

Have both the 1st and 2nd game.s You'll need to upgrade to firmware 2.6 to play both. I haven't played much of the 2nd game yet (just got it yesterday) but my impressions so far:

- Yes, having a saved senretsu game helps to unlock the 1st half the characters if you're going to play straight free battle mode (basically 1vs1).

- Game engine for fighting is exactly the same though it seems a bit smoother and faster.

- Bunch load more of extras to get in the library and whatnot. I haven't even tried yet.

- Hate the "OP" for the 2nd game which is just a collection of various scenes from the series. Love the title screen though as they use the HiME star scene being inches from earth. Better than the simple image of the school in the 1st game.

- I don't know if it's just me, but everyone's faces in the game look more "fatter" than normal. Evil Shizuru looks *real* freaky cause of that.

- Shizuru and Fumi are the best of the new characters I've tried out so far IMHO. I tried Shiho and her element attacks are chessy (ghostly notes) while she fights bare handed. I haven't tried Yukariko nor Yukino yet though have played against them; both seem kinda weak though Yukariko does have the arrows for distance.

... and worse of all, no FP items! LOL, at least the 1st game had a cheap artbook to go along with it! X(

'Mini-game' and 'vs. com' are gone. 'vs. com' is replaced by 'free battle', 'Battle Royal', and 'Survival'.

The sub-Childs are only obtained in BR mode, but can be used in Survival and Free Battle too.

The sub-Child is not fixed. You may use any sub-Childs obtained in BR mode in Survival or Free Battle mode. In BR mode, however, you start with no sub-Childs (Note: your collection progress isn't cleared, but you need to beat the other HiMEs in order to use their Childs as your sub-Child.)

Unlocking Battle Royal and Survival-
Complete Story mode once

Unlocking Pictures/Movies-
As you progress through Story mode, you'll unlock some of the pictures and movies. (However, after completing Story mode, only roughly half of all pictures and movies were unlocked. Unlocking those I haven't figured out yet.)

Unlocking Bakurestu HiMEs/System Voices-
Have a Bakurestu save game on your PSP. Go to Options: Convert. Choose 'Yes' (the two character option). All the characters from Mai-HiME Bakurestu will become available for BR, FB, and Survival modes. Their system voices will also be unlocked if you unlocked those in Bakuretsu.

Choosing Miyu w/ Alyssa-
When selecting Miyu, place your selection box on Miyu and press and hold 'Select' then the 'O' button. Miyu will switch to Miyu w/ Alyssa. (Only can be done in FB and Survival modes.)

Unlocking and Selecting Dark Mikoto-
Win at least 14 matches in Survival Mode with Mikoto to unlock Dark Mikoto. Dark Mikoto's profile will also be unlocked. In order to select Dark Mikoto, place the selection box on Mikoto and press and hold 'Select' then the 'O' button. Mikoto will switch to Dark Mikoto.

Obtaining a puzzle piece-
Play the BR mode and beat 7 to 10 foes in one game. The greater number of foes you beat, the better chances you have of getting the puzzle piece.

Extra Costume for Shiho and Akira-
After you obtain their puzzle piece, play BR mode with them again and beat 7 to 10 foes in one game.

Obtaining the fourth extra Costume (swimsuits):
Unknown. (Fumi, Dark Mikoto, and Akira do not have a swimsuit to unlock.)

Obtaining the last extra Costume:
Complete a character's sub-Child collection to unlock the costume for that character. (Fumi and Dark Mikoto do not have extra costumes to unlock.)

Chiisana Hoshi ga Oriru Toki AMV:
Complete the Puzzle.

Unlocking Haruka-
Unknown.

Unlocking Arika-

Completing the puzzle only gives you a AMV that plays to Chiisana Hoshi ga Oriru Toki. The hunt for Haruka and Arika continues on... but I'm rapidly running out of ideas.

Has anyone figured out how to unlock those two? And is there a Japanese counterpart to Gamefaqs?

I don't know as I've never seen that.

It basically plays to scenes of the HiME's reawakening/confrontation with the HiME Star (w/o dialog or FX).

I found a save file with both Arika and Haruka unlocked. Arika got 2 school uniforms, her robe and swimsuit from Mai-Otome. She got the best attack in the game too, shooting out the word "moe".

... Gods, 14 wins ain't easy!

Alyssa-less Miyu has no sub-Childs and was a challenge, but Vortex is a beautiful thing. Vortex, when activated, renders Miyu nearly immune to element-based attacks (all attacks that can be done from the 'X' button.)

Edit-- Survival is a wonderful thing to use to find out there are even more costumes for someone than you originally thought. One of the Miyus has a 5th costume, the nun's outfit she wears in Episode 26. Or it could be one Miyu has a swimsuit, the other dresses like a nun for c4...

New secret discovered.

After finishing story mode once, play it again. The story will have changed as new parts are added (such as a Midori vs. Fumi fight after the Nao/Natsuki fight).
Edit... heh heh... Instead of a Yukino/Shizuru fight, it's Haruka/Shizuru! Unfortunately, it's a fight where you are intended to lose. Anyway, her "Child" is her throwing her arm-band.

Unlocking Arika.
Play story mode twice.
Arika does not have a Child, instead she dances around, draining the opponents HiME gage to zero.
(Note: You cannot play as Arika in BR.)

Unlocking Haruka
Beat Dark Mikoto in BR while playing as Yukino.
Win 14 matches in Survival while playing as Yukino.
Play as Yukino six times in Free Battle.
(Note: You cannot play as Haruka in BR.)

Unlocking the swimsuits
Play as or against a certain character 6 times in Free Battle mode.

And for some reason, when I unlocked Haruka, I also unlock "Super-Duran" Natsuki also.

Only ones I know are Gakten O, Kiyohime, and Miroku (Child). Gakten O and Kiyohime share the same ability of starting with the HiME gauge at max. Miroku (Child) continuously increases your HiME gauge level (but Miroku (Child) is only usable for 'Free Battle' and 'Survival'). The rest I don't know about.

Battle Royal strategies I use--

Home in on known agressive characters like Midori. Taking out that kind of characters makes it easier to get enough wins to snag the puzzle piece.

Most of BR mode isn't that difficult except Dark Mikoto. My tactic is whenever you have you gauge at full, use the skill boost (Triangle). Even if it isn't 'Shot' or 'Attack' all skill boosts will make your attacks a little stronger and will always cause chip damage if Mikoto blocks.
Playing agressively against Dark Mikoto will get you killed fast and, whatever you do, do not stay close to her. Dark Mikoto can charge her move extraordinarily fast, and all elemental moves (any move done with the X button) launched at full charge are unblockable. Because of that, she will annihilate you fast if you stay close to her. Instead, keep your distance, keep charging your own elemental attacl, and wait for her to charge at you. When she does that, use your best short range attack (Mai's vertical flame wall, Shiho's shockwave, etc.). She should go down eventually.
However, for Yukino, instead of waiting for her to charge at you, constantly cheese the medium or long range tendril attacks. If she does charge at you, lob the short tendril attack. Her reflect "attack" is useless against Mikoto as Mikoto has no moves that Yukino can reflect.

1- Don't know what the mirror ability does.
2- Can't do it, only the comp can do that.
3- Who knows.
4- Press Start to bypass Nagi's commentary
5- I'm about 90% sure on this. I think Super-Duran Natsuki is unlocked by unlocking Dark Mikoto, Haruka, and Arika. Or just Haruka and Arika. She's only selectable by pressing Select & O with the cursor on Natsuki.

I'm 95% done unlocking everything in the game. All that remains is Haruka's c3 and c4 and unlocking Super Mai. I know Haruka's c3 requires me to win 14 matches in Survival, but, well... Haruka kinda sorta sucks, at least when it comes to Survival. Without c3 I don't think I can get the c4 yet. And I'm 50% certain unlocking all the costumes will unlock Super Mai.

Super Mai's attacks are amplified like Dark Mikoto's. Not sure if Kagutsuchi is any better though. Super Mai replaces Dark Mikoto as Battle Royal's boss if you play as Dark Mikoto.

Haruka tosses her armband. If it connects right, it can hit a foe over 60 times. However, each hit does minimal damage. Her skill amp is Armor. When in Armor mode, she does not flinch when attacked (but it does not reduce the damage recieved).
Haruka, Arika, and Alyssa-less Miyu cannot use sub-Childs since you cannot play as them in Battle Royal.

I think Difficulty only affects Free Battle.

Woohoo! Finally got 14 wins in Survival with Haruka-chan (won 15 to be exact). Seems fitting Yukino was my 14th foe. Now I'm currently working on getting c4 for Haruka in Free Battle. I hope Super Mai gets unlocked when I unlock the last costume.

Another new tidbit; '???' as a Sub-Child also steadily increases your HiME Gauge like Miroku (Child).

Damn that took forever. Seemed like I fought 60 battles in FB mode, but Haruka's c4 is also unlocked.

To unlock Super Mai, win 14 or more matches with Super Natsuki. Super Natsuki can use any sub-Child normal Natsuki has. So pick Gakten O or Kiyohime as her sub-Child. Whenever her opponent is knocked down, summon Mega-Duran. Use her rapid fire shot (X w/ D-pad in neutral) to rebuild the gauge fast. Everyone except Yukino should go down easily with this tactic.

I also figured out what Yukino's 'Mirror' Boost does, it auto-casts Reflect (X w/ D-pad in neutral) when Yukino is blocking.

I also discovered Dark Mikoto's Boost isn't just 'Attack', but 'Attack', 'Armor', 'Shot', and 'Speed'!

Unless there is something I missed (unlikely), I now have the game 100% unlocked.

Most of her attacks now are multishot. X now sends 2 shots instead of 1 and pressing X twice will send three. Dash X sends 3 fireballs instead of 1. Kagutsuchi attacks differently too. If the big fireball hits, it will hit for over 30 times, though the total damage about the same as regular Kagutsuchi.

I've not quite unlocked everything I discovered. I have one last task, unlock the ability to play Super Mai's Child summon movie in her Profile. Winning 14 or more in Survival with Super Mai will unlock that. (Both Haruka's and Super Natsuki's also require you win 14 or more matches in Survival, but both have other things that are unlocked at the same time when you complete the same feat.)

since i am now still a typical student still struggling in my study and other activites (included times with my anime and manga..lolz) , i am just going to take times to complete them to unlock all the stuff they offered. for now i am only spanning 1-2 hrs per week to play with my psp...no hurry for me =)

btw thx again... if its not you , i didnt know there are so many loophole left for me to fill up..( thought i already completed the game at least 90% but to realised that i only completed less then 50%...)

I should try to write a FAQ. I'd cover what each move does, outfit desciptions, maybe some basic combos, and of course cover as to how all the secrets are unlocked.
I wish I could read Japanese, I'd base the profiles on those in the library section. Plus I'd include what they say to each other before the match. (Definitely wondering what Shizuru and Evil Shiho are saying to each other.) However, all I can do is note which match-ups can have special dialouge instead of the generic one liners.
