View Full Version : Is Tomoe mad enough to kill?

First I would like to say that Tomoe is a bitch for what happen to Miya in the 15th episode of Mai Otome. She blackmailed her!:frustrated: The question is will she go as far as to kill Arika, or anyone for that matter just like what Shizuru did in Mai Hime?

yes I think she will.

I'm pretty sure she has it in her to kill Arika. I mean, she's tried a lot of other ways and they've all failed.

Also, Nina tried to kill (or at least cripple) Arika in episode 4 if memory serves me right.

How much you wanna bet Tomoe is the real Heir to the Sapphire of the Blue Sky? Now that would be a real kicker hehe

That sick heartless bitch is mad enough to order rape, so I doubt she holds much respect for human life either.

Well, we can put our hopes on poetic justice coming back to haunt her, and let's see how she likes it when her life and basic human dignity is cheapened. :)

Well, yes, by now I believe that it's quite apparent that Tomoe is a horrible person and is definitely willing to go all the way when it comes to acheiving her covetted goal (which I'm not entirely sure what is anymore..).

..But isn't that what makes her so interesting? :heh:

But who would she try to off anyways? Why do I get a bad gut feeling that she will try to kill Erstin for some reason.

Interesting to note that she has apparently not yet realized about the closeness Shizuru shares with Natsuki. If she did, I think we know who would become her target. Of course if she somehow managed to hurt her they would be scraping bits of her off the ceiling by the time the Graceful Amethist was done :)

Im not sure about Tomoe killing Arika..then again i cannot predict the future..lol
However..if she'd find out how close Shizuru is to Natsuki (couple or not) id say shed go as far as killing..i could be wrong..i guess future episodes will show us just how far she'll go:heh:

Well, the top Coral still have to qualify in the mai-buttou testing so if anything, an Arika/Tomoe showdown just might happen. ^_^

And since Tomoe is the apparent inheritor of 'crazed Shizuru', she just might go on a lil spree before she's brought down. It's possible but I don't think it's likely.

Yes, Tomoe is capable of killing, but no, she will not be mad like Shizuru when (if) she does. She strikes me as one who is perfectly in control, and anything she does will be done with deliberate spite and not in madness or rage.

Hence i wouldnt mind if she were the first Otome to die. Horribly.

And THAT's why she's interesting. All the things she've done showed us how crazy is her. Her methode's also beyond imagination *I pity you Miya  *

I myself don't want her die too fast. Her actions attract me to see how is her mental worked ;)

Don't worry. By the looks of the New Opening, Tomoe is going to be promoted into a proper antagonist position, likely with her own army of female storm-troopers.

Therefore she won't die for at least half-a-dozen more episodes.

Tomoe's tactics went increasingly more agressive all throughout the series; in the first episodes, she wanted to intimidate Arika into making her leave by ripping up her uniform and putting it on her desk, only Miya fubarred that plan up by leaving it for that guy to sell.
Then she sabotaged the equipment; I'm not quite sure what she had planned for that, since I doubt she put that snake there to bite Erstin, but...
(note that I haven't seen it yet, I'm going with the pics i've seen) Then she wanted to drop the vial of acid Yohko was using to melt Miya's GEM on Arika, only she hit Erstin instead.
That last one is definitely at least the intent of causing serious harm; if things had kept up this way, I would have expected her to go after Arika in the shower with a knife...
...I hate when I have a reference in mind but I can't remember its name... argh. Oh well.

She's hardly an angel, and the only belief she's lost is her nighttime fantasy between her and Shizuru; Arika keeps interrupting in it, I guess...

Your avatar is so excellent btw, although I was surprised the speedy one didn't take your fancy!

As to Tomoe, yeah she has definitely got progressively more drastic (and she's now reached the point of doing anything she can think of with serious holes in her 'plans') - I can't help wonder if certain 'worsening' occured through very unfortunate moments - Shizuru for example has, quite unintentionally, made it worse herself. This thing with Arika/Shizuru now appears to be 'class-news', even I cringed when that happened in ep.16. And she wasn't paticularly tactful leaving with Arika whilst Tomoe was still there. Even if she doesn't realise the 'extent' of what is going on, you'd think she'd have...meh I dunno.

I don't hate Tomoe because her evilness is OTT - she's more 'nasty' than every villain in this show, who at least have objectives - I'd rather her be psychologically a few sandwiches short of a picnic, than just someone who was inherently 'evil' all along - but that's me. You just wait for her to try something even more radical than the last plan. And I really have no idea what left she could do before turning to Schwartz.

Perhaps if Tomoe really does hit the total bottom, then the question is more:
Is Tomoe mad enough to kill Shizuru?

As much as I hate to admit it. SUnrise could pull something like that. I came across a disturbing webcomic that Sakuya Tachibana did a couple months ago showing viewers a *what if* scenario of Tomoe driving a sword right through SHizuru's abdomen....it broke my heart just witnessing that. Tomoe's mentallity in that webcomic was "If I can't have her, NO one will."

It was disturbing to the point of tears, I'll admit.:(

Yeah it was done very well (a bit *too* well in terms of our paranoia now) - I shouldn't post it mmm...

I think that mindset could work, manic desperate-obsessive people tend to have two morbid options if all else fails: turn the knife on themselves or turn it on the loved one. But to be honest, the way Sakuya Tachibana presented it would probably be more 'conflicting' than Sunrise: for instance, Tomoe too was in tears whilst she did it - the way Sunrise are going, Tomoe has lost all sense of reality that I don't know whether that scenario is going to be easy to do. Plus if she's officially going to turn to another 'side', then their whole relationship changes. It'll be interesting to see how Shizuru (and Natsuki) react to it..

Ah, very true. Tomoe is beyond the point where anyone can empathize....For her to be in tears while attempting that horrid act would mean that Tomoe still has some sort of a conscience in there.

Hmmm....good question. How *would* Shizuru react to that? Shizuru certainly knows how Tomoe feel about her (plus Tomoe has been blatantly obvious).

Well it should be quite easy for Shizuru ro brig Tomoe back toward the light. Just needs a few piece of equipment which i am Shizuru already have. like a whip, manacles, leather strings, blind folds and few other pieces.

Y'know maybe, deep down, and I mean really deep down, there may still be one there (?) but I would say only Shizuru will stand a chance of finding it. Tomoe has been presented almost with a dual-split personality, she was rather kawaii with Shizuru (and before the 'advice' Shizuru looked quite sorry for Tomoe) - don't hate me everyone, I'm just mean it's unusual for a 'villain' to have such an obvious weak point as this.

Hmmm....good question. How *would* Shizuru react to that? Shizuru certainly knows how Tomoe feels about her (plus Tomoe has been blatantly obvious).
It is intriguing, hmm I think she will, and should, take responsibility - not because I think she's to blame, but because I honestly can't see how she can wipe her hands of it. She's a part of the mess even though she did try to avoid it, and as I put above, I think only Shizuru stands a chance of changing this rapid downward spiral (not in a HiME!Natsuki way, but just in general). What do you think?

Ooooooooooooooh, you be careful, some of these guys are Tomoe-Loathers, they kick and stamp on anything green :heh:

Her actions have been despicable, but ultimately she's trying to break the conventions of success for the genki character, which in some sadistic way I find entertaining. The main character must always become one of, if not the most strongest character/s, must always win the affections of their desired love and then (unknown to any Earthly reason) will always become well loved by pretty much every 'goodie', and usually always embraces a destiny and future full of happiness and dreams.

The antagonist of the genki character however is predestined to insanity, death or both. lol it's just poetic justice taken to such an amusing degree - it's interesting though that Tomoe is already half way there (insanity), so I hope she doesn’t die either because it's too easy.

EDIT:

So it seems Tomoe will be going after Natsuki. That actually does change a lot of attitude - way to win over Shizuru's affection Tomoe: by trying to kill the person Shizuru goes ape-sh*t protective over.

So we may have Shizuru go semi-crazy in protecting Natsuki against the girl who went semi-crazy over her in the first place.? Nice.

Her weak point is the thing that make her more human. If you fall in love so badly with someone, you can do anything. She's just 14-15 years old, age where she need someone to become her role model. And she met Shizuru, who looked perfect in everything. And seeing her interest in younger girl, I bet Shizuru have 'played' with Tomoe a little... :heh:

Nice point you got there... So Tomoe is an anti-genki character that fell into darkness and insanity because of the loveless.

gem + amniotic = sulfuric acid? damn Sunrise Science ftw!!!
Well since normal amniotic fluid as a combination of trace metals (Manganese (II), Nickel (II), Zinc (II), Cadmium (II), Iron (III) and Copper (II)...all of these are chelating or metal binding, agents to some degree), it could be that the amniotic fluid Youko is using requires these elements to be present in combination in higher concentrations, creating a more corrosive acidic fluid. The metal complex that would then be formed would I guess become the nanomachines, an organometallic compound. It makes sense to me to use human genetic material found in amniotic fluid to combine with a chelator to create these nanomachines. I'm assuming it's what helps reduce the side effects of rejection of the nanomachines in the female body and better facilitates their assimilation (god that sounds so Borg like). But I'm merely guessing since I doubt Sunrise really thought all that deeply about the science behind their posited technology :heh:

You mean in that Miya is actually really obsessed with Tomoe?

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/563/miyaandtomoe1ol.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=miyaandtomoe1ol.jpg)

On a serious note, I actually think Miya lacks the guts needed - once kicked out and given Tomoe's little present, she had little to lose with getting revenge. But I'm not totally convinced she has that fighting spirit/snap – she’s the type who doesn’t actually reach rock bottom but who leaves all teary eyed and ‘’victimised’’. Oh please, gag me with a traffic cone.

I'm quite surprised by the sympathy people have for Miya – it's just my opinion, but regardless of Tomoe (i.e. no - she’s not as bad as Tomoe but that doesn't constitute sympathy for me) her actions were bad enough for her to get kicked out of Garderobe - unless she was threatened with her life, how could anyone agree to organise a bunch of guys to rape someone. And we're given a letter as justification for her self preservation? What is that? It must have been one hell of a letter.

The fact she was actually going to run away/escape anyway just clinches it - she knew her number was up but seemed concerned about getting caught, or Tomoe, rather than Arika getting raped.

How weak can you honestly be.

She's just 14-15 years old, age where she need someone to become her role model. And she met Shizuru, who looked perfect in everything. And seeing her interest in younger girl, I bet Shizuru have 'played' with Tomoe a little...:heh:
:heh: Innocent meanings only.

Maybe, but if she did then Shizuru has noticeably distanced herself from Tomoe. I suppose it would make sense that way more - Shizuru seems to know Tomoe well enough to draw a parallel with her (although perhaps not well enough to know she's kinda psychotic :heh: )

Plus in my eyes, it's often easier to get jealous over something you 'lost' (i.e. spending time with Shizuru like Arika does) than something you've only imagined about.

Bring them on! I'll kick their ass!

I view Tomoe as someone that has a certain, specific goal in mind and will not stop until that goal's achieved. A very admirable trait IMO. To be able to manipulate people to that extent that she has shows that's she's not only ruthless but quite intelligent as well!

A very admirable trait IMO.
Well the KKK have goals and some of them will not quit until their goal is achieved heh....I'm not sure if admirable is the word for Tomoe..

And she's voiced by Tanaka Rie...
I don't know if I'd be half as interested in the character if she wasn't voiced by Rie Tanaka.....*hearts*

I've posted a lot in this thread, I'm going to avoid it now - I don't want to appear like a Tomoe-Fangrrrrrl.

Chemistry….bad memories….and this is where you say ''I'm a chemistry teacher'' no doubt ;)
No, former med student. Who somehow managed to remember some biochemistry and o-chem. They were evil classes, to be sure.

In answering the topic question...Yes Tomoe is CRAZY enough to kill. She tried killing Arika in the recent episode.

Oh, but their goals are the problem in that situation. Their tenacity to go after them isn't good in the context of their goals, but when applied to another goal it can be a very good trait. And while I suppose Tomoe's goal is one that would be considered good... it's an anime so I'm allowed to twist things :heh:

And thanks for the pics, + rep :)

Well, consider the existing shoujo-ai subtext across the series, I am inclined to believe Miya was in love with Tomoe, and Tomoe took advantage of that fact.

If Tomoe had black-mailed her instead, Miya would have been more willing to betray her once she was being expelled and had nothing left to lose. A dishonourable discharge from Gardrobe with a record of planning an assault on a classmate for the rest of her life can't possibly be anything but worse than what Tomoe can blackmail Miya with.

I can't help but feel Tomoe never ONCE feared Miya would betray her. Over-confidence? Or does Tomoe know she can break Miya's nose with a brick, snap all Miya's fingers at the second knuckle with an oak door one at a time, and Miya would still follow her to hell? Love can do that... Just ask people who got killed staying in abusive relationships.

I like to think/prefer to believe it was love that imprisoned Miya to Tomoe, because that brings more chances of Miya returning in the series, to get her own back (or finally get what she wanted, Misery style). If it was a simple blackmail, we would probably never hear from her again...

Well that much I know. Although it's clear that Miya wouldnt be expelled or anything for liking a girl seeing how ShizNat are in charge of the school :p

It's more about embarassment among her classmates, but like you said the show and Garderrobe itself is very shoujo-ai heavy. Which is why I have doubts about the whole love letter blackmail thing. I mean, Eristin had no problem telling Nina during the pool episode  Although Nina didnt really get it and thought she was sick or something :eyespin:

Exactly.
If I don't get it wrong, at ep. 2 there's scene where Miya praised Tomoe, and Tomoe gave her 'perfect textbook' reply. Miya said, "There you again," with friendly (yes, friendly, I tell you ;) )style. Did she fell in love with her at that time? Has she knew Tomoe's psychotic side and still loving her? And most importantly, did she knew that Tomoe loved Shizuru so badly?
If yes, it must be a real pain for her to be used like that, while her love means nothing for Tomoe. And Miya can't leave her side because of her love, too! It's too cruel..

All that sadism... Very Tomoe.. :)
And I admire Miya's guts for her choice of person to fall in love.
Something must be happened in the past. And may Sunrise be damned to eternity if they didn't show us what's the reason behind these crazy love around Tomoe..

Edit:
More on-topic, I dun see how she has any admirable traits :heh: Sure, she knows exactly what she wants, and shes a wonderful genius manipulator and schemer, but She is crazy enough to kill, at least crazy enough to try to as showned in ep16 (tho I think it is likely she WILL kill later on). Bottom line is: I dun want her to die too quickly, But... Die she must!! :heh:

I think that's pretty much a given, considering her prominent role in the new opening. She's looking pretty evil-badass there.
