MF is great revival of the Macross series but it's seriously lacking in depth and story.
It has maybe just 1/4 of M7's story and my main complaint with MF is the chars developments are too shallow and rushed.
Alto is extremely boring at times compare to even Hibiki from Macross 2. We know he's good but too good like Tom Cruise.
Sheryl at times is frustrating to watch, she was so confident of herself but around Alto she acts like so weak and their relationship is a snooze, hardly any chemistry.
Ranka is probably more interesting than the other 2, because she actually changed the most but at best her char is just a supporting role.
M7 while people complain the most about Basara singing during battles, nobody seems to complain about Ranka singing in battles.
I dunno condense M7 into 2X eps you might have the same trouble, is the first half that much better in terms of character and story development?
I think it is but just barely...
I think one of MFs problems is trying to gain the attention of to many niche audiences instead of focusing on characters and story.
Both hit enough of their marks to be good if you can overlook their flaws.

remember most people were annoyed with Basara cause he was flying and singing in the middle of combat. Ranka was in a battleship and was actually part of the plan.
man just listened to my M7 play list, gotta love that rock and awesome vocals. If they ever do another Macross with a male singer, they're gonna have an impossible task getting compared to Basara.

I agree with you MF's problem is they try to cover all their bases, the story seems too simple and hardly any twists and turns.
In M7 you have 2-3 great battles that lasted several episodes. Each great battle in MF lasted maybe just 2 episodes long at best. They even wasted time with 2 episodes that are "filler" quality.
The development between Basara and the Protodevlin's Sivil seems much more involving than Altoh and Sheryl. While Basara was cold to Mylene, there are some tender moments.
I rather watch Basara sing to Sivil instead of seeing Princess Altoh trying to make up his mind with anything.
Basara can be annoying, he's got conviction, he's determined in what he believes in unlike Altoh.

That's the surprise. People got turned off just like Gamlin was annoyed as hell with Basara but eventually he realized and understood him.
Atleast Basara was unpredictable, if Altoh was in M7, he would get annoyed of Basara's singing.
I thought Sheryl was kind of dissappointing, she didn't have the charisma Basara had. We saw a little bit in the 1st few episodes but later it went downhill.
Atleast with Basara, he's always writing music and singing in M7.

Basara is a polarizing character, and as a main character where a ep dose not go by without him it creates that much more of a division amongst fans.
Most notable things about M7
1.Weak animation
2.Basara!!Basara!!Basara!! :heh:
3.The music.
4.The character/plot development(in retrospect).
5.The struggles and battles.
Most notable things about MF
1.Great animation.
2.Solid character designs.
3.Rushed story/plot/character development.
4.The loli.
5.The struggles, battles and conspiracy.
I think MF is mostly rushed and needs a 2nd season to clean things up and deal with the conspiracy, I forget was Galaxy destroyed, or just battle galaxy?
Plenty of stuff for a 2nd season but like most modern media went for rushed development cycles to get at the profit without thinking abotu much else.

Just keep in mind that M7 is memento of 25 years of Macross. :) Else will solve itself. Maybe...
You mean MF, right? Macross 7 is almost a contemporary of the original... :D

Ok, I think this is my fourth time trying the series, and I just made it as far as I ever had before. Oddly enough ep 12. I dunno if its the fact that I am getting into Macross more (as opposed to RT, my first anime love) but I am definitely handling it better than I imagined. It's actually kinda fun.
One thing that I LOVE that this series does, that MacF most assuredly did not is the variety of music that's around. Hell 12 eps in and I have heard Bomba, Alice, Sharon Apple, and a few others whose names I can't be arsed to look up. Now I don't like all of them, but it does a great job of making the world seem more alive.
I do also like the idea of the band trying to make it big, though the execution on that angle is often flawed. I always wondered, what defines a hit in the Macross universe? How hard is it to make it big? Every other series had 1 or at most 2 major idols at a time, Mac7 shows that there is a variety of popular stuff.
Dislikes are still manifold. It's 12 episodes in and there is no reason anyone should think of Basara as anything but a complete fucking lunatic. The guitar flight control is one of the stupidest ideas in the history of ever, and I had forgotten just how much Pedo bait Mylene was used as, (it makes the treatment of Ranka look reserved by comparison.) I still love seeing Max and Milia, though greed bulbous head Exsedol still bugs the shit out of me.
Finally, the space battles are nothing short of awful. I hope the series gets better in this aspect because quite honestly the Original series' battles always felt more dynamic and engaging than these do, and I think they used stock footage LESS, which still amazes me. Whoever directed the battles for Macross 7, was not at all at the top of their game. I mean it's Macross, and I saw missles flying straight FORWARD? WTF?
Still, I'm onboard, I can deal with the wacky a bit better now than I could before. We'll see where this one goes.
Edit: Oh yeah almost forgot, Mikimotos designs rock, as usual, except for Gamlin, who looks like the love child of Quicksilver and Wolverine.

I just finished this bizarre incarnation of the Macross pedigree, and I can rate it as strictly average.
The Pro:
- The music in this series is excellent. Fire Bomber's songs are all catchy and fun.
- The characters are pretty well developed. I even became sympathetic towards Basara by the end. I especially liked Gamlin's character development and how he and Basara came to respect each other. Mylene is a total brat, but in a good way.
- As pointed out above, the character designs.
- Veffidas' voice actress. Shame she only speaks about four times, because she has a gorgeous voice.
The Con:
- The series has about ten or twelve episodes that could be easily classified as "filler." There are several that simply have no plot or character development, serving no purpose but to pad out the story. As a result, it slows the plot progression greatly.
- Also as indicated earlier, the battle animation. They used a ridiculous amount of recycled animation, and whoever storyboarded the battles apparently had very little experience doing so. There were a few cool scenes, like Gamlin busting out his beam cannon and whupping up on the Varauta fighters. But it kind of loses its appeal after the sixth time. They literally used the same animation cells, just changing the background drawings. This is an area where the series really suffered because of its length.
- Gigil singing. My skin still crawls at the memory. Ray's singing is a close runner-up.
- No replay value. I'm hesitant to watch the movies or OVA's after slogging through M7. I think I've had all I can take of its goofiness.
- The VF-19 custom just doesn't have the same spark as the YF-19. Too many rounded surfaces, I think.
- Logic problem: Just how many frigates and carriers did the M7 fleet have? Every time the Protodeviln attack they destroy six to ten of them in one shot. Heck, the unaired episode opens with about a dozen such ships being wiped out in a matter of seconds. And yet they never seem to mention anything about how much their fleet would have to be shrinking. Their escort fleet would have to be HUGE to keep the city from being overrun by episode 25.
- The world. The series never goes to any length to make City 7 seem special. Most of the time is spent in the back alleys or slums and other generic-looking city streets, so there's never anything about the city that sets it apart from a generic urban location. About the most interesting civilian vessels are the resort ship and the agricultural ship. This is one aspect where Macross Frontier really shined, as it made me WANT to live on the Frontier colony. M7 never made me want to live there.
- I know it's the future, but sometimes the series gets a little too fantastic for my tastes. Namely with regards to cars that can travel through space. One thing I'm glad they didn't carry over in MF.
I still have the movies and OVAs, but I think I've had all I can take of Kawamori's silliness for a while. I will be humming Submarine Street for a while, though. Great song.
I think I wouldn't be very unfair if I said that you can watch the very first and last episode of Macross 7 and you'll still get the idea what's going on.
Viewer: "Oh, hey, that's Basara, long time no see. Wonder how you've changed. No changes there I see. Then how about other characters? Same. But there's the final boss... Oh, so they wanted life energy because they couldn't find it joyful creating it themselves. Go sing it into submission Basara! And there you have it, ending credits. That sure was a long ride."

The movie is actually pretty entertaining, if only for emelia. Dynamite 7 is odd, haven't finished it yet, but the animation on both is really nice. It's a welcome change.
Also, Fleet of the Strongest women was one of the greatest episodes of anything. Ok, not THAT great, but a nice bit of fun.
The animation DID get better as the series progressed, which was nice, but still nowhere near my favorite Macross, I don't hate it, it's quite entertaining at times, but sakes alive it takes forever to get anywhere. You cut like 60% of the 'waking Sybil' episodes, and it would have helped.
But outside of the RETARDED instrument flight sticks. I'd have to complain that my biggest complaint overall wae the Protodevelin. They are by far the worst villains in Macross history, they made me long for the Vajra. Gigil wasn't bad, but the rest? They looked like Sailor Moon rejects, their personalities were crap, and while their concept was actually pretty cool, their execution was not. How many times did we have to hear Sybil say 'ANIMA SPIRITIA!" ... /orgasm. I mean really.
But gotta say, I actually became a fan of Gamlin as the show progressed, though I swear, and this is coming from someone who NEVER says this, there was more romantic tension between Gamlin and Basara than there ever was between Mylene and Basara.

WERD. It was plain as day that Mylene's attraction to Basara was completely one-sided. He only ever showed interest in her as a valuable member of his band or as a fellow musician. Aside from rescuing her a few times, I can't see what would draw her to him other than mystique. When she's not in trouble, he's far too focused on the stage to bother with women, except maybe for Rex, whom he respects for reasons other than her killer looks.
Gamlin, on the other hand, repeatedly puts his life on the line to protect both her and the rest of the band, shows definite romantic interest in her and makes an effort for it, even if it is really clumsy at first. He even overcomes his dislike of rock music (make that severe allergic reaction to) to cultivate an appreciation for her passion and even comes to respect Basara. He has the two traits that Basara lacks: selflessness and compassion.
Not that I hate Basara, but the triangle resolution was pure Kawamori trolling.
I think I wouldn't be very unfair if I said that you can watch the very first and last episode of Macross 7 and you'll still get the idea what's going on.
XD Sad but true.

To be fair though, I thought it was impressive that she like Gamlin as much as she did. Dude cemented himself in the friend zone early on, REAL early on. He was kinda doomed, but I think she would have actually gone for it had Basara not almost died.
As for Basara, I refuse to beleive he never nailed Rex. Not to mention he showed more interest to her than anyone else. I still remember the "we'll continue this later" from the Sybil episode.
Though, some odd part of me thinks that Basara and Emilia would be perfect for eachother, though it would likely lead to some awkward family reunions.
Probably because it's silly and very much like a Super Robot show. Not really fitting with the Macross universe. Until you watch the whole thing and end up going from hating Basara and his shitty songs to loving Basara and his GODAWESOME songs.
Super Robot? So it's characters yell things like "ROCKET PUNCH!" or "GIGA DRILL BREAKER!"? :heh:
As far as I know, Sound Force's VFs aren't invincible, they were just constructed to rock.

So new to the forum but not Macross. I have managed to find most of all the series online. But the exceptions are Macross 7 PLUS and Macross Fufonfia. I have some of PLUS and the first 13 of Fufonfia with English subs but not all. Does anyone know where I can get all. I know that there are 12 PLUSs and 25 Fufonfia and I have found most of them with Spanish subs. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Thenoyb
Have you not checked out the official animesuki website at all? :p

...*shifty eyes*
In regards to M7...
I like Mylene. A Lot.
And Yoshiki Fukuyama.
But that has gotta be it;
Devil king brows girl annoyed me shitless, Basara was a giant a-hole, Gamlin was fugly, the villains were even fuglier, and we spent way too much time watching them orgasm;
Oh and Flower girl was a waste of time.
Where the hella re her parents and why is such a young girl walking around by herself- let alone going to ROCK CONCERTS!?
Shrioth,
Thanks for the help, but when you DL all the possible M7 stuff that Animesuki has you end up with 5 Macross 7 PLUS episodes. I did a search for a list of all the eps and according to http://macross.anime.net/production/animation_live_action/seven/, and http://myanimelist.net/anime/6209/Macross_7_Plus there are 12 eps. So I did a search on Youtube and found the Skull Team Fansub channel that has all 12 but with Spanish subs. Good quality but Spanish.
As for Macross Fufonfia, when you look at the detials for Macross Fufonfia 1-25 which was posted on 2009-08-09 it shows that this is actually Macross Frontier in an Ipod format. http://animesuki.com/details.php/41440.html. When I did a search I found that there are 20 episodes http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=4939 of Fufonfia. When you DL every thing from Animesuki you end up with 13 of the eps. A Youtube search doesn't get you much because Big West has asked for them to be removed and they have only posted 4 on their channel and they aren't sub.
So if anyone knows where I can get the remaining 7 eps of Macross 7 PLUS or Macross Fufonfia it would be much appreciated.

I consider macross 7 to be a disaster in the macross franchise, pretty much like gundam g in the gundam franchise. As far as I can remember, the only reason I watched this show was to find out what happened to Maximillian Jenius. Though I still can't believe I managed to finish the entire series, enduring 50 episodes of intergalactic concerts, alien orgasms, and the young flower girl. However, the person that made macross 7 great was Yoshiki Fukuyama, not to mention all his songs are great from the original series up to macross 7 dynamite.

Today I just complete watching all M7, encore , dynamite and all related to M7.
There are some boring parts but Overall I liked it very much.
I just loved Mylene and was great seeing Max and Miria once more.
But what I would really appreciate is if anybody knows if she finally made up her choice (Bassara or Gamlin) ?
And if is there any Macross material that talks about Jenius family before M7 ? (heard something about M3)

zerodigit,
Mylene hasn't made up her choice.
Macross M3 is a game that tells about Max, Milia and their adopted daughter Moramia as they fulfill their mission to deal with space bugs (not the Vajra).

So yeah...I went to see Chie Kajiura (the singing voice for Mylene) in concert in Omotesando last night.
Okay...DAMN good concert, DAMN good time last night. Chie was awesome. She did about six Mac7 songs, and the rest was all solo stuff, with a few new songs thrown in. Oh, and a Kate Bush cover, which she performed flawlessly. So yeah...a really good performance.
Immediately after the show, Renato, Tochiro, and I were talking to Tenjin as we were on the stairwell to the exit. Suddenly, I saw Tomo Sakurai walk past me...it took a moment to register..."Oh, there's Tomo Sakurai, I should say hi. Nah, she looks busy...wait a sec..." I sprinted up the stairs, and said, "Sakurai-san!" She turned around, looking startled. I extended my hand and said, "Dai-fan desu." Still looking startled, she shook my hand gently, said, "Arigato," and then continued climbing the stairs.
Then, after waiting too long in the lobby (and witnessing the aftermath of a fire nearby), we met up with the Chie Kajiura fanclub, went out for drinks and food, and then to all-night karaoke. Lots of Macross songs, some Mospeada, Orguss, Megazone, and plenty of other '80s mecha hits were sung before I got home (about fifteen minutes ago). Now I'm go to sleep. G'night.

It was at Omotesando FAB, which is a really nice club.
Sounds like a fantastic nice, i must say.
I must track down these original songs, and a Kate Bush cover? :p Didn't expect that.
I just finished watching Macross 7 after putting it off for so long... and wow. I actually enjoyed it. The same couldn't be said when I first started watching the show two years ago (right after watching the original SDF Macross and while Frontier was still airing), when I struggled to get through the first 15 episodes. However I had some time in the past ten days, so once things started to get interesting in the show I was able to burn through the rest of the series fairly quickly.
I realize this is a love-it or hate-it show for many Macross fans, and I can understand why. Basara can be incredibly annoying when you don't understand his motives 90% of the time, the Protodeviln are kind of stupid-looking, the whole "song energy" and spiritia concept is meh... ...and many of the episodes were incredibly redundant (that's not even to mention the amount of reused frames). I think the main story could have been told in 24-26 episodes.
However it was this redundancy that got me attached to a lot of the characters, through the various subplots. Gamlin and Basara both grew on me, and I even found myself rooting for minor characters such as Gigil, the Flower Girl, Docker, and the bridge bunnies (Sally and Jessica I think).
By the time I reached the last 8 episodes or so I couldn't stop watching. I would even consider the final battle scene to be on par with that of Frontier in terms of intensity and my personal enjoyment, even though the animation was dated by almost 15 years. And of course who can forget the Valkyries... for example I got incredibly excited when Captain Jenius folded into the midst of the battle on Varauta with his VF-22 during Operation Stargazer haha.
I still have to watch all the OVAs and extra episodes... hope I won't be disappointed.

Going by what you enjoyed about the series, then these won't disappoint. The Galaxy is Calling Me movie is one of the best Macross 7 related episodes out there for a certain reason :p, and Macross Dynamite 7 is such a great watch, with one of my all time favorite songs in the franchise!

I just finished Encore and the movie. Encore had a some laughs and "wtf" moments for me (mainly in the encounter with the Chlore fleet... heh), while I can guess what reason you liked the movie because that's why I liked it too :D
Kinda makes me wonder how Max and Millia managed with so many kids though. I mean the two of them flew as pilots in numerous battles and testing/development of new Valkyries, and then assumed command of an entire colonization fleet/city ship while raising ~7 kids? With all that stress they've aged remarkably well despite being in their early 50s at the youngest (that's assuming the two of them were around 16 during the first Space War, which seems to be a reasonable age for soldiers in anime). Maybe Zentraedi don't age as quickly compared to regular humans, but that still doesn't explain Max.
If there's one thing I was disappointed about it's that I'd like to see whether the fleet resumed its journey following the final episode. The 4th planet of Varauta seems habitable enough, if just a little cold. However, I haven't watched Dynamite yet so I may find out soon enough.
Finally, I realize I'm a little late to this discussion so I went back a few pages in this seven year old thread and read about what other people had to say about the series. It seems like it's a lot easier to enjoy M7 if you don't take it too seriously. The poorly animated and redundant battle sequences were probably enough to turn off many viewers early on, and Basara inexplicably running out to riddle everything with speaker pods didn't help matters either; like I mentioned earlier it took me two years just to get through 15 episodes. If I hadn't run out of other stuff to watch I probably wouldn't have resumed it.

Actually there is a colony settled in the Varauta system founded by Megaroad-13 fleet. The year was 2025. Protoculture ruins on the 4th planet were incidentally found and in 2043 UN Spacy HQ had the Varauta Research Fleet investigate it with the adviser Earth HQ sent/recommended Ivane Gyunter, who would be Gepelnitch's new body.
The Varauta colony was taken over much like the Macross 5 citizens were kidnapped. The Protodevlin took their industry and created a fleet.
This was just two years before the Protodevlin found Macross 7.
So Macross 7 fleet don't have territorial rights to the Varauta system.
Oh watch Macross Dynamite 7 OVA if you want to find out about Macross 7 post series. Macross Dynamite 7 Mylene Beat manga is a side story to it. Also Macross Ace magazine features Macross 7th Chord manga which is 7 years after Macross 7, 2 years after the events of Macross VF-X2 and 6 years before Macross Frontier.

Those kids are already adults by the time of Macross 7. Komillia was born 2011 she was 20 when Mylene was born in 2031. Miracle was already a teenager then. Followed by the twins Muse and Therese then Emilia and Miranda.
Though I have a suspicion the sisters let Mylene be the sacrificial lamb to their mother's marriage interview schemes.

That 'someone' was me, and they were from an artist over on pixiv who's done a lot of works like that. If they were by ReddyRedWolf, then i would have said so.
But anyway, that's enough off-topic for this thread.
Hey guys this is about the tracker for "Dynamite 7" http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/458.html
It gives the impression that no torrents exist for this.
But actually, they do.
On the main tracker for Macross 7 at http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/166.html
Specifically http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=download&tid=157497 is linked to.
Active 2010-02-04 Macross 7 Extras - DVD version (D7 1-4, Enc 1-2, FotSW, GMM, Movie) Central Anime 3497.8 Mb. 6 3
D7 1-4 is the 4 Dynamite 7 OVAs...
So I realize that this batch by CA has extra things besides D7 but shouldn't it be linked to on the D7 tracker? It just seems to make sense so people don't think it's impossible to find.
Or else, perhaps at least link to the main D7 tracker so people might notice it at the bottom right?

Anyway, I put the D7 tracker up for all. So if you need download help ask me. The extra stuff is also from Mac 7 is why it is there.
After almost a year of putting it off, I finally got around to watching this series completely. I quit last time at episode 9, and was ready to again this run, but I can't believe how much the series turned around (ironically) at episode 10.
As others have stated, the romance element was a bit lacking compared to other series but I feel as though all the other elements of 7 can cover up for it. I also wished there would have been some greater developement and screentime for both the flower girl and Sivil.
I felt she was the bridging character between Basara / City 7 and the Protodevlin and yet after that first contact moment with Basara, she spent what little screentime she had either sleeping or screaming. I was hoping there would be some great cultured moment, like the Zentradi in the original Macross linking up with the Macross people, but alas, it came only at the last episode.
On to watching the movie and OVAs.
Might as well bring the idea up, does anyone want to do a Macross 7 rewatch thread together? It'll be along the lines of the previous rewatch ideas. Plus i know there's quite a new of people that haven't seen 7 yet, so it'll be the push they need to check it out.
I'm game. Probably not gonna be many takers, I'd wager...

Man, you're pretty late. I've already done the re-watch when I decided to download the 'remastered ver.' of Macross 7 two weeks ago (cool pictures, btw. Almost rival HD materials). Still, count me in :). My memories are still fresh. In fact, some Fire Bomber's songs are still in my head. :heh::D

Sorry about that. :p
An episode a week would be pretty good. Sure it's 50 eps, though i like to the idea of watching it for a year.
And where might one find this remastered version, if one may ask? My copy is kinda old...

Since this anime isn't licensed yet, it's okay if I mentioned the DL link, right, ladies & gentle-mods? :heh:
The one that I DL is the remastered DVD version (not BD) since I'm not that fanatic about this series. Still, the picture here will blow the old version away with its color, clarity & sharpness. Like I said before, the transfer almost rival HD material.
[Mod Edit] torrent link replacement: http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/166.html [/mod edit]
Edit: I'm also pretty sure that if you read the posts at the top of this page, you'll find some posters from 2010 (Shiroth included) who also talking about Macross 7 remastered version and how to download it.
Thanks, I'll look into it when I get home. :D
One other thing: this series was actually released on BD?

From what I heard so far, it hasn't released in BD yet. Maybe other members know better about this?
As for me, as long as they didn't add anything to the (future) BD release of Macross 7, I won't leech it. I'm pretty satisfied with this DVD ver.
EDIT: @BetoJR
Forgot to mention that all Macross 7 OVAs & movie have also been remastered in that link I gave you. Just make sure you pick the ones with '(DVD)' written on them. Also, one episode of Macross 7 Encore is actually placed under the Macross 7 movie link. So, in the Encore link, there are only 2 remastered eps (originally, there are 3, if I'm not mistaken), while in the Movie link there are remastered movie and one last Encore episode.
Yeah, the DVD version looks fantastic. Especially for the movie and OVA.

If there is a rewatch, I'd recommend a faster pace than 1/week given the amount of episodes plus all the extras. It might be tedious to get through as-is, so stretching it out for a year would probably be a bit much for even the most avid fan.:twitch: Besides, Tak has me all fired up to get to the episodes with those singing space whales.:heh:

Thanx for the answer, Yot-chan. :) Still, I'm not that concern about finding out the manga to have detailed info about a (very) minor character. I just figured out that she's Mylene's new manager from some easy source. That's good enough for me :D. Btw, when I see her for the first time (and that way of talk), I thought she was Akiko with a different hairstyle and eye-color. Turned out it wasn't.

Maybe that would be better. It is a long series, after all.
Maybe that would be better. It is a long series, after all.
I'm cool with Wednesday being one day. As for the other, i'll let you guys decide.
I recently re-watched 7. It's interesting how one's tastes change as you age. I remember when 7 came out, how I thought it was the worst thing I ever had seen. And that disgust stayed with me like a blight through all these years, staining all the other great Macross shows I've loved. But, after the fantasticness? fantasticity? of the Frontier movies, I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to give 7 another shot.
After 17 years of saying more caustic things about 7 than I can count...well, I still think Basra is...let's be polite and say 'silly', but overall, I really enjoyed it. I think Basra was always what I got held up on when I was younger, but now that I'm older, I'm able to simply look past him and enjoy the rest of the show. Like, Mylene, who I have to admit was definitely worthy of being a pink haired goddess in her own right. :)
DON'T YOU DISS ON BASARA-SAMA!!!
You gotta listen to his song, man!
:heh:
You know, I am still baffled by the fact that Protodevlin were, at the end, allegedly just innocent space drifters who... just so happens to have the power to implode a galaxy on a whim...
YEAH...

Yeah, I really miss those times where brave and unwavering guys like Basara is the main character of mecha animes. These days, we usually have limp-d*ck kids as MCs T-T.
Well, it was the most rediculous thing I have seen. Moreso than the traditional Minmay Attack...the shear number of instant or near instant giant fangirls shooting everywhere...plus the looks on pretty much everyone elses faces....was just a little too much to take seriously. Though the Macross 7 showing the proper way to show appreciation for the Deculture via firing/lightshow into the air helped a little to keep loses down.
How he is ever going to keep that many million 10 meter tall fangirls happy, I don't know.

Oh yeah, that episode where the Meltrandis went crazy over him is hilarious :D! Well, since it’s Basara we’re talking about, he’d surely manage to please all those giant girls one way or another :naughty:. That guy’s energy is unlimited. The only one who was able to exhaust him during singing was the Protodeviln Queen, Gepelnitch.

Oh, I'm so well aware that the body that Gepelnitch use is a dude's since long time ago. So, my bubble has already burst ages ago. In fact, I remember posting in this thread about that very experience when I figured out that Gepelnitch's body is a bro's.
If I have to define Gepelnith, I'd say that its gender is neutral. I only add 'Queen' to my previous post coz Gepelnitch pretty much resembles a queen bee/queen ant.

The Singaporean representative at the World Cosplay Submit in Japan reported that his cosplay as Basara was shockingly popular.
Basara wasn't just recognised by otakus, but on his way to the event, people on the street, salarymen, people in the subway shouted Basara and Fire Bomber quotes and called out to him.
During the event, he attracted more attention than Touhou and Vocaloid cosplayers.
His cosplay team includes Mylene, a Fire Valkyrie Battroid form as well as the entire cockpit and front of the fuselage of the Fire Valkyrie.
It seems that Basara is still extremely popular in Japan.

Except Aquarion doesn't bore you to death with the same thing for countless episodes until the finale. That show kept me interested until the end. It had to be the second most memorable mecha series for me. (My very first was Vandread at the time of 2005; but Macross Frontier pushed that one aside.)
My marathon of Macross finally leads me to Macross 7. Watched first 3 episodes and dunno if Basara is brave or just plan crazy. But I can't deny his mad skills as pilot, being able to pilot a Valkyrie, playing the guitar and singing in a battle all at once!
Oh and Mylene is such a cutie. As expected as a daughter of Milia :P

It's all on personal perception. Still think she's cute though.
Edit: BUT! Her sister, Emilia, is smoking! I totally see Basara and her getting together after the series. :D Nothing better than having a 50 ft. Meltrandi as your singing partner. Their duet Heart and Soul won me over. And why am I so jealous of Pedro?
