Well, I just finished reading As I Lay Dying, by Faulkner for my college english course. I didn't particularly like the book at all, but some themes in it reminded me in some ways of evangelion. Such as the character Darl, he reminds me in some ways of Shinji in that he doesn't know who he is, or what he is, and wants to figure out what exactly he is doing on earth, or something like that. Also, the mother, Addie, reminds me of Rei. The mother is a very closed character and doesn't have much interaction with other people to name a couple things.
Has anybody else read this book(I'm sure at least a couple), and have you, if you've seen Eva, found any correlations between the two? Also, has anybody ever heard any comparisons between the two before? As my professor was lecturing us about the book, I just couldn't help but think of Eva. The themes she talked about are just too similar sometimes.
