Hi,
I was wondering if there were any fansub groups in need of/mildly interested in an editor. I haven't done any editing for any fansubbers in the past, however I do believe I'm qualified for the position.
My Qualifications
1 Year of College Elementary Japanese
4 Years of High School English
790 SAT II Writing
700 SAT Verbal
4 AP English Literature Exam
If anyone is interested please reply :)
Thanks.
P.S. - I'm a big fan of romantic comedies so a group specializing in that genre would be my first choice.

I want a skull. Well, I can draw Kermit the Frog. No, I said I want a skull! That's nice, I'm gonna go ahead and draw Kermit the Frog.
There's lots of groups with openings for editors.... but test scores and ability to write stuff aren't the only determining factors in whether you'll be a decent editor or not. There's a lot of style and smoothness involved in editing, and a constant pressure to make it smooth without changing the meaning... it isn't easy -- though having at least an elementary background in Japanese will probably help you out a little there.
If you're still breaking out SAT scores, I'm guessing you're in your early college years? Make sure you know what you're getting into, and that you'll actually have the sort of free time to commit to fansubbing... editing might take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 or 3 hours per script, depending on the series, the translator, and how obsessive you are... and doing that for a current group, expect at least one of those per week for every series you sign on to work on. I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but make sure to weigh your free time and make sure you know what your priorities are before you jump in too deep.
Also, when you're just starting out, it's hard to be too picky, since you're not really part of a group yet.... you might end up editing something you don't really like all that much to get into a group, to get a prospect on doing a series that you will like later.
In any case, if you want to try for an editor position with any particular group, try joining their irc channel and asking an op. A lot of groups with positions open have recruiting channels listed in their topics, and the positions they're looking for, and a lot of places have tests to make sure you got the skillz before they entrust their hard work to you... but irc is the place to look for that stuff, since most groups are there.

Heh. Nice qualifications. My qualifications include AS-Level English Grade E (As-Level - stupid English course) inability to spell Level 14, ability to add/remove random words into sentances without knowing I'm doing it Level 7, Ability to change random stuff in a script to stop myself going completely insane with Timing-Insanity(and forgetting to remove it when giving it to QC/Our spelling-nazis), Level 4. Mt stats are STR:9, Dex: 14, Con: 12, Int: 4, Wis: -6 and Cha: 2.
If you think you can match these, Anime-Blitz is mildly looking for a little help in editing (well I am anyway). If your intrested, PM me on our forums (www.animeblitz.org) or on our Irc channel (#anime-blitz@Mircx). Were not exactly looking for help(so if any other groups are looking, you should check them out), but I've said to myself, if any offers come I'll have a look at least...
Edit: Oh, the comment about time is true. It usely takes me days to work through a script (allthough that is because I am also timing...) Lucky I don't do much homework...
