I've just regained my internet access since last year(around May).

I actually watch any kind of animes as long as it's a good one but i just won't watch girls bravo, love hina type.No ecchi.

I'm currently watching the popular ones :bleach, naruto, blood+,mai otome, full metal panic.

I need more dark and serious anime like Madlax and noir.Well,as you can see,i do prefer a little shoujo ai.

Like Noir/MADLAX... This is actually pretty hard. These anime are unique, as far as I know, cause I'm also a great fan of these series. Well, you could try Avenger, but it isn't hundred percently comparable to Noir/MADLAX, so no guarantee ;)

Genre's: Action, Science-Fiction

Red wasteland. Deteriorating dome cities. A grotesque moon that oppresses the land. Welcome to the twilight of mankind...

It is an era when most people have moved from the outside world into isolated domes, and limited provisions are rationed because of the wars between each dome city and their representative fighters.

As substitutes for the children that aren't being born, pet androids called "dolls" are in distribution.

The era is controlled through power and will by Volk, the invincible warrior, and Westa, the goddess who grants peace to everyone's soul.

As time stands still, mankind walks along a path to a slow destruction, taking the Earth with it.

When the two girls Leila and Nei go out into the world, wandering the fierce storm, the curtain opens on the revenge of the beautiful Barbaroy, Leila Ashley, and a new era is about to begin.

True to an extent but I think Noir and Madlax are the the best Bee Train series by some margin. Avenger also had a great potential but the ending ruined everything for me.

Somewhat similar to Madlax and Noir would be Gunslinger Girl, just don't expect shoujo-ai.

Monster is very dark and serious but doesn't have much action.

This is a quest I have been on for the last couple of years myself (well, except for the Mai Hime part :P), but I must agree that Noir & MADLAX are singularly unique.

Avenger really grows on you, and the ending may make a little more sense with the official translation (and a repeated viewing). The new "thinpack" is quite inexpensive, and the DVD quality is excellent.

.hack//SIGN, and to some extent Tsubasa Chronicle, gets into the moody storytelling with great imagery set to Yuki Kajiura tunes, but it's an entirely different tone and feel from Noir & MADLAX. .hack is the better of the two, and also goes for a touch of shoujo-ai, but in a rather unexpected way.

Paranoia Agent is a decent bit of grown-up psychological storytelling that is more satirically dark than "moody" dark, and I think it's excellent. Also excellent would be Kino's Journey, which is a whole different aspect of storytelling that walks a thin line between dark and light, with a "zen" mood to it. Neither would fit any definition of shoujo-ai, but they stand out as top-notch works.

I'll second Gunslinger Girl and Monster -- both are set in detailed European surroundings and have excellent characterizations and storytelling. Monster is hella-long (74? episodes) and currently unlicensed, but it's definitely worth it.

Avenger...i heard some people said that the story turns out to be very funny. And yes,i'm definitely a Bee train fan but somehow i don't like tsubasa and meine liebe.
I've watched .hack and i hated it.The whole plot is just boring, boring, boring.I've even skipped a few episodes just to finish it.

I've even watched gunslinger girl already.Maybe i'll try kino no tabi.i heard it's a very intelligent anime.

Anymore?:)

If you haven't already you can try Haibane Renmei. Like Noir all its main characters are female, the music is excellent, nice characterization and it has a gripping atmosphere. No action. Dunno why it seems that similar to Noir to me, probably because of the empathy I felt towards the characters and the emotional intensity.

Avenger really grows on you

It does? I really need to watch it again, then.
