Episode 71 Screencaps and Summary (http://randomc.animeblogger.net/2006/03/07/bleach-71/)
-Ryou takes the human woman hostage and exchanges her for Ishida. He smashes Ishida's head into the pavement and tastes his blood.
-Yoshino shows up and steals Ishida away
-Ichigo and company still have to fight Ryou and the snakes. Fortunately, Renji brings Tessai, Jinta, and Ururu to help and scare off Ryou.
-Urahara tells them that there's a tunnel being build between this world and Hueco Mundo (the Hollow world).
-Ishida wakes up, having been saved by Yoshino. He tells her about losing his powers and how he's the last Quincy. She tells him that her family had a law not to consume the soul of the living. If they do this, then they can obtain a powerful energy and be able to influence space. Doing so would destroy the balance of the world, so no one has tried until now. That person is Kariya Jin. He seems to have his sights specifically on Ishida, and Yoshino calls him as a Quincy the key person. Ishida blacks out at this point.
-Ichigo and company find Ishida at the hospital. Ishida thinks to himself that Yoshino's face reminds him of his crying mother.
I like this episode. Animation is pretty good, and they seem to be making this arc more and more about Ishida. Please do not discuss anything past episode 71, or else you risk a ban. Even tags are no defense.

:heh: Yea this wasn't as bad as I thought it be.
I don't know what kind of angle they are going for with Ishida. Now he is key to their plan. The girl was alluded to be like his mother. But above all, that whoopie cushion scene:heh: :eyespin:
Damn this forum has been weird to me today:heh:
This has quite grasped my attention.
The story for the Bount Arc looks promising, since the writers are actually cooking up a non-farfetch'd, original, filler plot.
The Bounts' actions are gradually disrupting the balance among worlds by their excessive consumption of living souls, just like the Quincy did centuries back in their crusade against Hollows.
I could possibly suggest that Aizen is pulling the strings on the backstage, concerning the recent activities of the Bount.
Either that or Aizen would seize an opportunity for himself taking advantage of the Bount's doing.
Or else that Jin is in league with Aizen without knowledge of both Ryou and Yoshino, but Aizen or somebody else is just controlling him like a marionette.
Finally, Ishida fitting the whole jigsaw puzzle for what the Bounts are scheming, thus turning him into the plot device character for this arc.
BTW, I repeat again that Ryou is an as***le.

Hmmm. so thats what happened during this episode... :/ I still would prefer it if they just got back to the original story... lol - but who dosent? lol
interesting episode. This is going to be a good arc and i swear if anyone else complains about it being a filler i'll spaminate that ass big time..
ahem, I thought that "FILLER" episode was pretty good but I have a feeling the bount that saved Ishida is just setup to have a tragic death IMO.
As we all know, no good deed goes unpunished.
Yea for a filler that ep wasn't that bad, it quite a decent one compared to most fillers. Lol when that bountou was leaning towards Ishida i was liek wtf, hes going to get his pimp on lol. Yea lokos like Ishida will be a factor in this arc. Yea that Kariya totally looks like Archer from FSN.
Lmao, that whoopie cushion part was friken hilarious, it was so random i started cracking up when Kon was like "boo boo cushion". Everyones facial expresssion was great.
animating being good? i guess, but they did do a slip-up i guess

A pretty good episode with some nice development. But as usual the big highlight is Kon-sama. His joke to ease up the tension was hilarious. :heh:
I wonder what Ishida thought when that female bound (bound sounds better than bountou:p ) leaned over him.
A) She´s going to suck out my soul!
or
B)Whoopie here goes my virginity!
:heh:
the Golden was hilarious, even the most badass Captain in SS has his little quirks...even as random as it was, lol.

I don't care for complainers, I think that episode was great.... hopefully this will shut every other post of being someone saying filler this filler that.. JUST LET IT GO.. if you want the story to be that of the manga so bad just read the manga and stop complaining about it....
anyway, onto more happy stuff. I think this shows that they are actually making a big effort on this story. They are not just throwing some episodes together as a gap, someone is actually thinking up a good original story, and i think they're doing a good job. Nothing like that classic bleach moment tho, the whoopie cushion couldn't have been better timed.:)

consistentcy has always been an issue w/ series longer than 13 episodes :P
Well...
that lets us guess that Ishida is gonna have new powers or something
BTW, looks like there is going to be another loop in Ichigo's power increase. Now the next challenge for him will be to achieve ban kai in the real world and kick some more ass...
This is the first episode ever that I was dissapointed. I know its a filler and I have been happy with the previous episodes, it just was not exciting. The best part of the entire episode was the golden cup. That was hilarous.

Ishida is not gettiing any powers in this filler arc. They are practically using him as the lad in distress instead of the usual damsel in distress.
I have to give them the credit....that is not stereotype/usual for them to do so.
Yes, I think the filler might contribute something to the future manga chapters.
BTW, what's with this Kenpachi joke?? Is it really Shinigami Cup...GOLDEN??

I think he was undressed, not by the beating, but by the tentacle wrapped around his body. If you wrap someone in wrope and TWIST it around their frame, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few buttons popped. I'm not going to try to address why he's bleeding on the wrong side. :heh:
It was amusing to see a man wrapped in tentacle though. :D

It was very interesting... The battle was bored. Bound arc seem better.

I can't get to understand your objection. On the contrary, I actually think that the writers are making up a coherent plot not farfetch'd for the filler arc.
The music continues to astonish me as well. The two tracks that caught my senses were 1) played at the conversation between Kyouraku and Kurotsuchi and 2) heard during the conversation between Yoshino and Ishida.
The first one mentioned reminded me awfully a lot to the theme of the Exorcist, particularly with that ringing tone that was a bit creepy.
The second one sounds like coming from the spooky OST of any Castlevania (or any other horror) games. That was fantastic.
I think that the excruciating wait and boring disappointment the majority of you felt at the beginning of the Bount arc with all those hide & seek and catch games episodes is at last delivering a ripe story with the Bount Jin attempting to dislocate the balance between the worlds of humans and Hollows.
What would Ishida's role play that makes him the target for the Bount?
Even Yoshino brought up that Quincy's have relation to the key role for protecting the current era.
What could be? I do not know certainly, however, I'm looking forward for more episodes to draw my own conclusions.
What exactly does SS knows in truth regarding the Bount?
Two theories:
I can think either that Urahara smuggle in secret orders to Ukitake to lock the Bount data within the main server.
Or Yoriuchi sneaked undetected and stealthily into SS to secure the data from wrong hands.
And cheer up, because we got to see a few wisecracking puns to enjoy.
1. Ichigo farting because sit on top of the Boo cushion that Kon mischievously placed on his place.
Everyone's dead silence with their bugged out faces surely made my day.
2. Rukia's taking notes about the tunnel in reference to the bunnies and bears analogy.
Bleach’s Bount Arc is resembling more and more to the YuYu Hakusho Chapter Black Saga with the plot following devices being used:
1. The protagonists unknowingly gets messed against strangers that seek to test their capacities and cognitive skills, and the audience initially thought those strangers were the enemies beforehand.
2. The real enemy makes use of unusual tactics and powers to strain the heroes in despair and hopelessness.
3. The real enemy is opening a portal to another dimension to get the human realm swallowed into it.
4. Like Kuwabara has the power to rip off dimensions, in YuYu Hakusho, Ishida must have a hidden talent or special quality that the Bount covet to run their master plan.
5. The main bad guy of YuYu Hakusho’s Chapter Black Saga, Shinobu Sensui, was a former spirit detective who strayed from his ideals after witnessing the doing of humanity’s wicked nature.
I could theorize or suggest at this point, until much is later revealed about the Bount, that maybe Jin Kariya once was a Quincy that found the way to live of human souls, thus becoming the first generation of the Bount.
the conversation between Kyouraku and Kurotsuchi
There was music? *checks* Ha! I was so wrapped up in the dialogue I didn't notice. That whole scene was just tailor made for people like me. Total win.
And, apparently, Kurotsuchi uses X-Windows?

It was just a pain to watch, the entire plot revolving around Ishida and the woman bound was just so fricken cliche.

I'm gonna have to disagree... while it's true that, I think, everyone knew she wasn't bad, i didn't think they were gonna revolve most of this plot around Ishida. I think the story is clever, and I think they're doing a great job at writing it... it's got me hooked :)
Hehe, I loved when Rukia glared at Ichigo over the drawing thing. XD I really missed her crappy drawings. And then she smacked him out of the way. XD
I also enjoyed Ichigo screaming 「飛べぇ!!」when he threw Kon out the window ROFL
did anyone think ishida looked very bishie in this episode?? he actually looked kinda cute with his button undone ^^
best moment of the episode..the whoppeee cushion by kon :D
totally didn't expect that..
I have to say I enjoyed the ep too. I kinda wondered after the revelation that the 'enemies' weren't enemies why soul society was so up in arms. Yea the bound were bad, but it hadn't been explained yet why this was so bad. Now we understand, and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised with the foresight the writers are having on this arc. I hope that the relative quality to other filler will continue.
Ishida wrapped in an 'imaginary' snake: 1 head wound
Ichigo throwing Kon out a window: Free
The look on people's face after the 'Boo-boo' incident: Priceless
For super crappy fillers, look elsewhere. For everything else, there's Bleach.
I kind of found this one interesting, with the Yoshino taking Ishida away, working here way against the other bounts :p
Jeez ... why did they have to use silly plushies XD
Really, I just have to laugh when seeing them.

True True, it was not a very exciting ep, but it was like a build up to what the bount is all about. I am happy that there is a another side to the bount, gives a better explanation to everything that is happening. I see that Soul Society is becoming more involved, wonder what steps they are going to take with this whole bount story/drama.
On the whole it was not a bad ep, i know we are all used to heavy action and laughing till we our chest hurts, i suppose we expect so much from Bleach that we become disappointed. So give it a rest, the action will return and the comedy will continue. ;)

I'm still panting over it. This whole episode was pure fanservice for Ishida-philes. Even if other characters were poorly drawn, no one skimped on his close-ups--trembling lips, quivering brow, batting lashes. He was QUITE the angsty bish.
Story-development-wise, I was anticipating SOMETHING arc-worthy ever since Urahara mentioned that Bound are "human like Quincy"... What I didn't expect was Ishida's
MOTHER TO SHOW UP IN THIS EP!
The storyline is fairly interesting. The early arc eps were slow, but I could get into this one. Yoshino is very cool. I love all the strong women in Bleach.

Personally, I like not knowing what is going to happen in these episodes. It is nice to be able to watch Bleach with a fresh and untainted outlook.
One reason that most people who read the manga don't like any filler is because there is a little voice in the back of their heads saying, "This isn't what happened!" That little voice can really be a downer. When you know that something didn't happen, it can be hard to invoke the suspension of disbelief and just enjoy filler the way you do the rest of the series.
One ally that I have in believing that this filler happens to everyone is the sheer abruptness with which the next story arc begins. It started so crudely that it really felt like something should have happened first. It felt like we should have seen Renji and Rukia and others, appear one at a time in the course of the story, rather than all of a sudden showing up in a single group to "wait for Aizen to make his move." If the key is waiting, then why were they so gung-ho from the get-go. Then before the waiting has lasted more than a single chapter, the waiting is already over! It works for me to believe that this original story would have been in the manga if only the creator didn't feel pressured by the immenency of the anime catching up to him.
