View Full Version : Full metal Alchemist question
anyone know who the voice actress for psiren is, in eps10?
Voiceactors of Fullmetal Alchemist can be found for example from animenewsnetwork:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2960
Psirens seiyuu is Miho Shiraishi, unfortunately there is no more information about her.
thanks for the info i'll try to look more information further, thanks once again
hmmm she sounds sexy...xD

She does really look good doesn't she...... but I still can't decide if she's good or bad... at the end of that episode, was she trying to destroy the city or what?

She is talent and this is the first time voiceactor is challenged.
It is like Nishikawa(Miguel) or Vivian(Aisha) in Gandam SEED .
I hope it's a new seiyuu because new one must appear now !! :)

I didn't want to create a new thread for my questions so I just used this one. Sorry for any inconveniences.
I don't think it's a spoiler or something but you should have watched at least till episode 7, just to be cautious...
Regarding episode 13, the Colonel and many others left Central and moved to the East HQ where Mustang's office is right now.
But wasn't his office in Central ? Did he moved to East City, after he got his promotion?
Moreover, I still don't understand how Edward is able to perform alchemy without using the (well known) transmutation circle.
Did I slept while I was watching an episode or haven't they revealed the secret yet ?
thanks for any answers

Regarding your questions, here's the answers ....
Firstly, yes Mustang is now a Colonel and has gotten promoted but he has been transfered to a different region. Think of it as a big corporation. You have your heads at head quarters and you have your heads at your other places. But their ranks are the same. It seems like a demotion because instead of being in charge of something big you've moved to something smaller. But I suppose Mustang has his reasons for this.
Secondly, I don't think its been revealed yet

On the last flashback episode they transfer Mustang to the East and I dunno about the second question but maybe he has the alchemy circle on his automail??? maybe dunno though

I think its an inborn thing that he inherited from his father cause there's no other national alchemist at the age of 12.....

could be from his father, was it just me or was this episode extremely goofy LOL!
In regards to the anime circle-- it has not yet been revealed... however it has been hinted at that its an innate ability -- perhaps it has something to do with where his arm and leg are... then again it could have nothing to do with that at all... the theory that there is a circle on his automail is false however because the first time he discovered that ability he didnt know how he did it himself-- so he couldnt have drawn said circle hense it doesnt exist....
lots of intresting things going on behind the scenes though!

goofy???? ok... for anyone who has already watched ep13 put some in spoilers because I'm only watching it tonight after work... i.e. 6 hours from whatever time you guys have wherever you are......
anyway.... I agree with the fact that it has to be from his father... especially whe Mustang said that Edward was more interesting than his father since he was able to perform human transmutation and still survive..... so he must be born with some iner abilities that have evolved to be stronger than what his father had

thanks for your answers.
I was a little bit confused, when they all moved to the East City, but now I get it ^^
Yeah and in ep 13 there were scenes, where I couldn't stop laughing ^^
especially, when Mustang, the "no-emotion-man", told about his "miniskirts for women"-plan ^^ or when he talked about the dog.
But then again Asakura_Y0h said, Mustang is now a Colonel, but in ep 13 ( [AF-F]version; 13:12) he said: "I will obendiently follow his orders until I reach the rank of Colonel and have the whole military in my hands."
Well, well, what is he now ?

Hahahaha........ yeah the gun thing was sooo funny ...... anyway, just wanted to ask what circle on the automail are you talking about? would you happen to be refering to Mustang's gloves? Cause there isn't any circle on Edwards
anyway, in the case of mustang, he is just producing fire and only fire... as explained he snaps his fingers to produce sparks then he manipulates the flames with his alchemy and with the resenjin on his glove which is specific to fire.... well at least that's what i think i'm not entirely sure so if anyone else has any suggestions or opinions on this do feel free to express them
I thought I clarified the whole arm thing...
THERE ARE NO CIRCLES ON EDWARDS ARM
Remeber he was surprised too when he created that first effect without a circle....

spoiler.
the arm is the reason why he doesnt need it. the arm is like mustangs gloves. it has a built in transmition cricle. thats all the reason hes the full metal achlemist. he can trans metal because of the arm. second. no one ever said the circle has to be showing.
but his father does have the soemthing to do with it. thats probaly why he's so advance

I think he meant Mustang's glove but anyway, maybe he didn't read the previous messages. Anyway, yes to all out there "THERE IS NO CIRCLE ON EDWARD'S AUTOMAIL!!!!
he got a circle in his mind, will power is strong to create alchemy without circle

Alright, now I'm getting confused.... Is everyone just speculating or saying what they know as a fact.... like Acefighter's "circle built into the automail" thing....
But the only thing so far that's I've gotten out of the anime is that he can just do alchemy by will and that there isn't any need of a circle or anything for that matter.

I suppose its up to the individual.... for me I thought that they were quite funny but I can see why you might say that they were annoying... My theory is that usually when watching funny animes I tend to watch them mindlessly..... ie. not giving anything much thought and just laughing at anything that seems remotely funny....
But for FMA, usually i concentrate quite abit to follow the plot and stuff happening hence getting emotionally involved with the sad parts so sometimes when it comes to the funny parts I don't notice that the jokes are that funny. But for the latest ep, it was funny from the beginning of the ep so I was in mindless mode throughout the ep..... hence enjoying it like mad ..... hahahahaha 'hands-up puppy' hahahahaha..... :heh:

actually i did read the previous posts before replying...
what i meant was if different circles are needed for different transmutations? cause it seems they sometimes draw different circles at different times for different transmutations...if this is true then wouldn't Edward need a lot of differrent circles in his automail? or maybe he doesnt know about the circles himself...
this question is kind of an argumentative one really....cause if it's true then that kinda disproves the circle(s) in automail theory...but hey what do i know? i'm not an alchemist hehe
------
oh the chibi jokes...i didnt find them funny except the last ep where Edward was predicting his convo with Mustang LOL

hmm... ok... so you did mean Edward... which brings me to ask... are you speculating or are you stating a fact that there's circles on/in Edward's automail.... if its a fact... could you provide a source? I wanna take a look at it too.... :)
Cause what most of us have been posting so far is that Edward knows about the circles and has great knowledge about Alchemy (Having studied for the 1st test)... Its just that he is able to perform alchemy without have to draw, to wear or have in his possession any Resenjin / transmutation circle at all..... In fact... he doesn't even need the National Alchemist pocket watch to amplify his powers.... as seen in ep 2 where he made a huge statue move without it....

I'm sure they will.... but my guess at this moment is that he probably inherited it genetically from his dad....
my guess would be his strong mentality, (early episodes) even mustang did said b4 that after performing human alchemy and yet survive the ordeal, he must be a great alchemist in the future

yeah... like he is now....... but i think alchemy is an inborn thing... ie... some people are born with alchemic talents and some are not....... which is why they made Edward sit on this golden chair for his interview during the national alchemist test
so maybe its an inborn thing.....
Anyway, I have a question about FMA........ if Alphonse's soul is attached to that metal armour... I suppose he's pretty much invincible until that armour starts to rust right? does that mean nothing can kill him?

ahh, using the logic of most animations, the amour will not rust, just like the character's clothing, they got alot of same sets of clothing, the only thing i can think of alphonse now is his voice, i like his voice

About Alphonse's voice.. i think its nice how he's childlike voice counters the intimidating look of the armour... but I still wonder if there's anyway that Alphonse can die

wonder how the voice actor did .. talking into a sea shell ? haha.. anyway possibility of his death is not high, but the only death he can have is thru alchemy, since his soul is bound by alchemy, he can be destoryed by alchemy, either his armour or his soul goes

Two answers, neither one is really a spoiler:
If Al's armor was to rust he'd just do a quick bit of alchemy and it would un-rust so let's not worry about it.
Edward does not have alchemical circles on his auto-mail. It is something that he does himself. I won't say how he does it or why he can do it since that would be a spoiler, but stop assuming that he must have an inscribed circle. Besides, most of the time he doesn't need a circle simply because he has the watch. The watch which is his badge of office is an alchemical device that can take the place of a circle. It is only when the watch is taken from him that he does his special trick.
Asakura_Y0h
2004-01-02, 01:17
But then again.... doesn't the watch not make much of a difference since he was able to do big alchemic reactions without it anyway? By the way..... you already know how he does his alchemic reactions? can I have the answer in spoiler form? I don't mind knowing

:twitch: I really hope you mean that you have a number of the same designed clothes to wear everyday and that you have no been wearing the same ie.. that one T-shirt for the past 3 months or something like that
the only thing that I can think of that people would wear everyday similarly would be a school uniform or any uniform for the matter.... on the subject of uniforms... i think that the national alchemist uniforms aren't as great as some other animations and has anyone also observed that edward doesn't wear the uniform although he's part of the military?

All of these things are explained if you read the manga. How he transmutes without a circle (ch 6), armor and bindings (i believe thats in ch 6/7 and 11).
The follwing isnt really a spoiler but ill put tags so nobody complains.
The watch is the symbol of him being a alchemist. (It is not an amplifier)
He has no circle hidden anywhere or in a metaphysical sense. (ch 6)
The following are spoilers (increasing in level of spoilage as it goes on).
Al's armor can take damage without him getting hurt (ch 6).
And it is possible for him to die (ch 11).
If the seal is broken, he will die. Since the seal is behind his neck, he can move without his head. (And talk when his head is off).
Edit: fixed the first spoiler

That's really informative so in essence there really is no circle on ed's automail
About the uniform being too big for him... i think that's the most valid explanation hahahahaha..... funny but valid

Sometimes I halfway believe that his REAL goal in all this is to find the alchemy that will allow him to increase his own height.
Yes... Speculating is bad... What you saw as a "circle" on his arm was likely something to do with how the automail works.... it's not like you can just take a slab of metal and put it on your arm and suddenly it works like an arm... there has to be some kind of alchemy behind it..... thats is prolly what keeps it goin.

Sort of surprising that Al and Ed's voice actors are both females. They do a great job but I'm not surprosed that they weren't girls since females do lots of young male voices.
Yeah I found episode 13 hilarious ^-^

Yeah.. the voices are both females but I think Ed's voice was even more surprising because its quite low for a female's voice... I wonder how old the person who did his voice is....
Anyway, the automail that Ed is wearing is connected to his nerves which is why it can work ....... although of course in real life connected nerves and powering something like that to work would be pretty impossible....

Spoiler/Explanation ?!
Although they haven't openly put it, I believe that the secret is related to his metal arm. If you can remember in one of the episodes with the killer, Ed couldn't do any alchemy without the use of his metal arm. Moreover, the killer openly said that he didn't want to put himself in any kind of risk.
Question :D: [COLOR=Black] Is there going to be an episode this week?

Spoiler space
It has nothing to do with the fact that he has an automail arm. As of volume 6 during the flashback arc, Ed makes contact with the "truth" or I guess...God. After being exposed to that, he was able to transmute just by clapping his hands together. The same goes for Izumi who underwent the same experience years before Ed did.
There.

Actually I saw a documentary the other way, about people with robotic body parts. Like deaf people being able to hear again with some sort of digital ear which passes information to the brain. There was also a guy in it with a robot arm which was connected to his nerves and he could move it around and everything. Well, not as good as Ed's, but it was still pretty impressive.

Sorry, moe != kawaii.
Moe comes from the verb "moeru" which means "sprout" or "bud," as in a tree or plant. "moe" is used to refer to the attractiveness of a young girl just sprouting into womanhood, her innocence, etc, etc. Its real meaning is probably more subtle, but you get the idea. Perfect example of "moe" is Shinobu from Love Hina. Comic Party Revolution has a great translator's note on this.
Example: a baby could be "kawaii" but definitely not have "moe."
It's a mistake to mistake these two words.

Oh please, the alchemy is just an excuse for the characters to have super-powers.
Real world alchemy was just the predecessor to chemistry/science.
Really, it is not a predecessor, as science has really existed since Aristotle. Originally, science, math, and all those academic disciplines were known as philosophy. Alchemy is an occult or magical pursuit. Alchemy was always considered separate from academic sciences.

Isaac Newton was an alchemist. He never succeeded in discovering Philosopher's Mercury though.
Except in the science fiction/alternate history book Newton's Cannon.

now i'm very confused... what truely is alchemy.. and i thought newton was called a scientist..
I think he have to just put his hands together and he can transmute. Would be hard with 1 arm
Edward can perform alchemical transmutation without the aid of a circle for two reasons (and I believe they are both necessary; you can't just do it with one or the other):
a:He's extremely powerful (duh)
b:In the AF-F sub of episode 15 the character Scar (aka The Wierd Guy With The X On His Head) says "By fixing your two hands together, you form a circle. With that focused power, you generate an Alchemic reaction. Without that irritating right arm, you cannot create an Alchemic reation. I will have to destroy it."
I believe he took out Ed's right arm because it is by nature easier to transmute nonliving, inorganic materials than living organic materials (that's why alchemic chimera are such a big deal).
Now Scars reasoning could be entirely his conjecture, but Scar seems to have some inherent understanding of the deeper workings of alchemy (I think it's cause of the tattoo).

I was cracking jokes when they were discussing how Ed can't do alchemy without his right arm. I mean, isn't it obvious? Surely he cn draw an alchemic diagram with his left hand and do alchemy that way.
OR...he could stick his left hand over his right shoulder socket and form a circle that way. Who needs a right hand? Bwah!
And then in Ep 16, when the little girl took his automail leg, surely he could form a circle if he clapped his left hand and right foot together!
Sheesh. People just aren't imaginative these days...
