Well, recently I downloaded an episode of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (the one with both the unaired 3 and part 2) from A-F & AF. However, when I run it, there is neither picture nor sound. (besides the visualization backgrounds that Windows Media Player runs when you're playing music)

Initially, I assumed it was a codec problem, (though previous episodes from the same fansub group ran fine) so I downloaded ffdshow (20030523), ac3filter (0_70b), xvid (1.0-beta2-05122003 and 160703). But even after installing all that, it still has the same problem. Using GSpot, it says that the file isn't truncated and that my current codecs should be able to run it.

Right now I'm stumped on what the problem may be. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

whew! your in luck buddy. i had the exact same problem when i got an episode of gungrave. my guess would be to get the divx codec, but better yet just download the media player from the site(it includes the codec), there is a free one so you don't have to worry. oh and you might have to get a different kinda of codec also, aside from divx. and if you still have that problem then.....uh......keep on asking. :D

Sorry for taking so long to answer.... :p

When you say divx codec, you mean the latest one, Version 5.11, right? If so, I already have it, so I don't think that that's the problem. :( Thanks for your advice though, it's appreciated. :)

Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

A friend of mine has the same problem with wmp9 (I assume you're using that). First try using mplayer2 or mpc and see if that works.
