It is so strange for me picking an avatar? :heh: It is true, however, I never used an avatar in, what, 5 years of forums?

It was really the power of Shamisen, anyway. I wouldn't use an famale avatar cause I always assume one's gender by it avatar (I am almost always wrong). I don't like Itsuki, and Kyon has a boring look. Shamisen, however, is awesome. I am kinda surprised no one else have taken one already.

Maybe it was voluntary? I'm sure he's capable of showing enough restraint to stop talking for a year or two. At graduation, when the characters are most vulnerable, Shamisen will strike again...and he will have been listening. The silence will pay off.

I've been surfing through this thread and am amazed at your work. It's plain amazing! (although this thread is hard to browse... 117 pages!! Ouch! :eyespin: )

I wish to request an animated avatar, not for this forum. Size limit in the destination forum is 150 x 150, 48 kb. (I'ts not an anime forum, btw)

I would like a looped sequence from the 1st season intro, roughly 20 secs into the intro, the segments showing both Haruhi's hips and face as she walks forward. I would like to have both segments looped together in a single sequence but as I fear that background won't match and it could be headache, it should be deleted too...

I *think* I've seen those segments somewhere in this thread, but now can't find them anywhere... :(

Avatars need to be 100 x 100 and under 50kb, Signatures need to be under 500 x 160 pixels and 50kb.

right click on the picture and "save file location/address"
step two
go to the User CP on the top of the screen and press the "edit signature" option on the left
step three
in the section called "signature picture", paste the link you just saved in the part marked "option 1" with "ctrl-v" and then save

You can use Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape (or other programs ) for create renders in automated mode, but quality of this renders usualy awful. For best quality you need to do it manualy.

You need cut off background or trace images ? For trace you need vector images editing program.

You need to purchase/download, as I know it has 30-day trial perod for free use, or you can use Inkscape (it's free).

Yeah, it was just Photoshop.

Using the high-res version of the picture, I erased the background, duplicated Nagato a few times and adjusted the color/contrast/etc on the different layers and changed the layer properties on them, too (I think there's a soft light and a color burn in there? that last one is pretty transparent, though). That was to improve the originally muted colors mostly. And then the original layer, that still had the background, I adjusted the contrast and applied a gradient map, then rotated the whole thing and faded one end. And then I took the spruced up Nagato-sans-background, flipped the image, applied the same gradient map, but faded the effect, then reduced the opacity on it.

And there's your speedy tutorial. ;) If you want to learn more about using PS, there are a ton of LiveJournal communities about it, though the ones specifically for icon/avatar tutorials are probably easier to find.

I'm out of practice, though, so yeah.
