Please adhere to the rules.

Only ask for GIFs abiding by AnimeSuki Rules
Please be aware of the size limitations (http://forums.animesuki.com/faq.php?faq=rules&#faq_rules_3_1) as outlined in the forum rules (http://forums.animesuki.com/faq.php). Avatars need to be 100 x 100 and under 50kb, Signatures need to be under 500 x 160 pixels and 50,000 bytes.

Be Patient
Don't be impatient so don't keep asking for your avatar or signature, you will get them when you get them. If you want it sooner then go make them yourself. People are creating avatars & signatures on their on free time and as a favor to everyone.

Please specify episode and timeframe of the GIF
We're not mind readers. We do not know what you want, so give us something specific to work with. Be detailed about the description and make sure you keep the timeframe something like 2-3 seconds long.

Example:
I want a GIF from Episode 12 of where Suzumiya hits Kyon with a trout. Timeframe of: 10:32-10:34.

Don't ask what software was used to create these GIF's.

They look similar, but the 1st one カ is katakana "ka", the 2nd one 力 is the kanji "chikara" which means 'power', 'strength'.

Since there are people who have non-Haruhi-istic related sigs that they are reluctant to part with (Shirobane I'm looking at you :p ), I came up with a new(?) idea...

Signature Slivers! :D Little strips of images related to the S.O.S. characters that can be tacked on to an existing signature to show devotion to a S.O.S character! See it in action below!

Edit: Added Tsuruya-san Sig Sliver
Edit 2: Added Kyon's sister Sig Sliver
Edit 3: Added 3 Asakura Ryoko and 1 Kyon Sig Sliver
Edit 4: Added novel derived Sig Slivers for Haruhi(2), Yuki(1), Mikuru(2), Tsuruya-san(1), Kyon's sister(1) and Asakura Ryoko(1)
Edit 5: Added Stars black version and 'Declaration' slivers

Specs: length x width - 26 x 120 pixels, inclusive of a 1 pixel transparent strip to mark it off from an existing signature.

That was one of the two scenes cemented my endearing attachment to Suzumiya. I make that exact move when confronted by the hairless monkeys that missed the monolith briefing and still throw poo at the waterhole. :)

Hm... the original animation involved the background moving slightly... how about I take the characters and place them on a moving train(inside it… with the background flashing in the windows… simulating a tunnel might make it easy to make the hole thing loop nicely...)

So far, one of the most gifs material providing series I've seen in last months. So no surprise to see all of the most skilled artists working here. ^^
I guess every little bit of episodes 1-2 was dissectionate already so I won't even try to surf them. I'd need to change av and sign since Shinigami no Ballad is over, but while I love Haruhi, I don't like overused characters (same was for Saber when Fate/stay night begun), so maybe I'll look somewhere else ^^

Nice artworks I've seen so far, keep up the good work to everyone ;)
I'll eventually contribute from episode 3. ^^

ragnarokr... the problem is that the sequences would be too big for AS... even the one from the credits is a pain to make AS friendly... because it is so small the background tends to merge into the characters... making it very hard to delete... not to mention that the dance frame timing is murder...

There are several problems... first of all... there wasn't enough material in the show to make the thing so I had to resort to 2 other sources... namely these little things …

The source for the middleground and background... just some picture I found on Google... anyway the it isn't anime... so that makes it a problem...

The problem with the animation is that because of the nature of the sig... the home made animation on it is insane... the main problem is the movement of the middleground (plains) and the background (mountains)... to create that 3D effect of movement the mountains must move relatively slower compared to the plains... if one moves too fast it's bad if one moves to slow it's bad... another problem is the fact that the damn thing just doesn't want to loop... I tried to clone stamp the mountains so they would be symmetrical... but the loop is still obvious (don't bother looking at the gif above... I butchered it until the only thing left was the part when the train enters and exits the tunnel because it would be more efficient to keep the blackness then natural excellence (well after I clone stamped it... it wasn't exactly natural and it wasn't exactly excellence ))... on top of the problemes with animation there's the problem of blending... considering I used so much exterior sources (and because one of them just happens to be non anime) perfectly blending the layers is close to impossible... I tried but my skills at this are week... also... there are numerous other problems but I won't talk about them any further...

If you have any ideas for a sig... that wouldn't involve some of the problemes above... I would be happy to help and make one :) ... or maybe it would be better to wait until ep3 ;)

P.S. Riker... that's an awesome sig :D

I think I already pointed it out a long time ago in the Tutorial thread that the solution for the borders is just to make them while in the creation process... my post above was referring to making round borders on an existing gif... well if you say you know how... then I trust you ;)... your avatar isn't exactly the perfect example since the radios is very small... and you used a very large stroke making the difference in size (caused by the little blur effect) unnoticeable...

Sorry to have bothered you with this kind of stuff :)... it's unnoticeable anyway... I wont talk about it any further...

ummm hmmmmm i only really can think of making it smaller to meet your size requirement or removing some frames...

so ill try a couple of things when i get some free time and see what i can do (unless somebody knows a secret way of making it smaller, If so PM me with it :)!!!)

Well, I tried. Certainly, to reduce a originally 18 frames sequence to a 6 frames ones, and having to stay under 50,000 bytes, may lead to dramatic results.

I was wondering if somebody can make me a sig using the gif from my avatar. Also if its possible to avattar of the same thing but a bit bigger and not AS friendly. On the Sig I just want my name and Join the SOS Brigade with Haruhi underneath it.

You mean like turning it into a cartoon... like I did with the first above... it usually reduces the size by very little (for the one above 20k to be exact)... but the good thing is that you can reduce color to incredibly low numbers and still keep quality... for example for the one above (which is a 28 color version with no lossy or anything else... and is aproximatly 46.8k) here are

Okay so WTF im hooked so quickly. Haruhi-ist(i suppose?) I need me a change.

Im looking for a sig/ava.

Sig... I just can't pick a scene... but id like something animated... and for the artist who wants to go overboard and challenge their artistic sense... I want it to say(not LITERALLY) "I'm a bitch, and you LOVE IT", if you know what I mean? And as far as text goes... something having to do with SoS, Haruhi-ism, Haruhi-ist, ionno.

The ava... I have a few ideas, but once again, id like those who are less artistically challenged than I am to kick my ass with an awesome avie.

1) Haruhi's self-introduction in the begginning of the 2nd ep

2) In the beginning of the opening credits. From the very start(seeing Haruhi on the mountain in the starlight with the shooting star in the background), until it flashes off of her. I know this is most likely too long, but it's imperative it shows up to, or including the flash. I absolutely am OBSESSED with her smile right there, i want to turn that into my desktop wallpaper rofl. (this might be my favorite one if done well)

3) Her movement at the end of the opening credits, including the HAIR FLICK!

4) 16:20 in episode 2, when she spins around, talks, then wags her finger back and forth while winking.

5) 17:40 in episode 2 "Heads willl roll" scene, winking while shooting a finger gun.

6) 20:00 ep 2 when she's facing the camera, playing with asahina's boobies

7) Anything with Harumi looking like a cute little SPAZZOID! Including but not limited to the ED credits ;x

I know im asking alot by not giving much input to work with... but i've seen the people on these boards make some incredible creations using their own artistic license. Thanks in advance for the help yet again!

I suggest you try deleting the frames before you open them in IR...

Basically just open the folder were you saved them... select the Filmstrip view... and just delete them until you're left with the raw ones (don't select the next one... select the 4-5th, since they tend to repeat a lot...)... this way when you open it in IR you should have exactly what you need ^_^ ... no more ram problems ;) ...

Thanks to all, but really it's not this big deal: just a fill tool and a bit of patience ^_^

I suggest you try deleting the frames before you open them in IR...

It's 140, so you can add small text on it.

I do that when I have more than 350-400 frames. If they are (like this time) 250 my IR is fine. What I didn't calculate, is that they were from a 1280x576 source... in facts the trouble arose when resizing. My bad :)

What do you mean :confused: ... "the number of frame" ... did you mean frames... as in how many images you have :)... if so then just by deselecting everything... the status bar displays the number of objects (frames ;) )... and the total size...

Used to care very little for timing... but lately I've been finding it very amusing to play with the stupid thing... getting it just right is still troublesome :D... I still tend to mix the 0.009 with 0.9 and stuff like that... the damn things just are so easy to get wrong :p... I think I'll check out IrfanView to see if it's as confusing (... ups... I mean fun :p ) as IR at timing.

Oh and by the way... I forgot to post this earlier...
I'm not 100% sure but the secret to moving scenes(to get them to stay still) is to crop the scenes using 3 separate stationary points (make sure your little rectangle fits exactly into those points )
Well haven't used it much... I remember it working once... I think the piano might be able to provide the stationary points there :D...

That's why I capture screenshots manually with Media Player Classic.
Less pics to deal with in IR. Manual ftw!

BTW the main problem is that I don't use IR and I have PSP only on my notebook. Ifranview is a small and fast program that I have on office PC and usb Key, and it allow to use batch procedures ;)

Windows thumbnail are too small for my taste and I prefer browse the img with IV and arrow key (and delete it with <DEL>). I use filename to get the number of frame deleted (for timing purpuse) and the frame's number to match the frame on jasc (that didn't show original filename). Of course is not the better way on doing things, but I must work with what I have ;)

I don't really look at the thumbnails... I select the first double... then go and search for the last one... the last selected is the one displayed... so I just look at the big image until it changes... then delete them... for this show I jump something like 10 to 14 frames at a time :(... well if I exceed the last one it usually isn't a problem since they repeat so often that deleting the first doubles or deleting the last ones doesn't make any difference...

I think Riker's method is the best one for the show :)... well he managed to convince me :p

Anywho, there was a short sequence in the OP where Haruhi is playing the piano. I thought it was interesting because it looks like the only time when she isn't acting crazy.

This is the sequence requested. There's no loop because a certain amount of frames was needed. I may tween the last with the first but I think it's just unnecessary. Now check if you like it :)

2) In the beginning of the opening credits. From the very start(seeing Haruhi on the mountain in the starlight with the shooting star in the background), until it flashes off of her. I know this is most likely too long, but it's imperative it shows up to, or including the flash. I absolutely am OBSESSED with her smile right there, i want to turn that into my desktop wallpaper rofl. (this might be my favorite one if done well)

3) Her movement at the end of the opening credits, including the HAIR FLICK!

4) 16:20 in episode 2, when she spins around, talks, then wags her finger back and forth while winking.

5) 17:40 in episode 2 "Heads willl roll" scene, winking while shooting a finger gun.

6) 20:00 ep 2 when she's facing the camera, playing with asahina's boobies

7) Anything with Harumi looking like a cute little SPAZZOID! Including but not limited to the ED credits ;x

I know im asking alot by not giving much input to work with... but i've seen the people on these boards make some incredible creations using their own artistic license. Thanks in advance for the help yet again!

Yeah sorry, I realizes I was asking too much when i attepted to make one... not only did they come out like junk since I have no skill, but were massive lol.

2) What about starting it slightly earlier, and endinging it slightly earlier. Get a little more of the left side, a little less of the right side? Could get more of the smile possibly, since that's the focal point of the ava, although the one you made there is like 10000000000x better than my attempt, mine was way too bright and shiny. couldn't see her lol.

3) It's the coolest possible one, but it's so hard to do x.x I couldn't even come CLOSE.

5) The looping isn't the most important thing for me, I think the first one is kinda neat.

7) A spazzoid is someone spazzing out... typical of Haruhi...

Hi everyone. I am a new user. I am just wondering, what is the image size limit for sigs and avatars on this forums? I can't find it in the rules, and it doesn't say when I want to add a sig either. I have a Haruhi sig that I want to use, but it's around 800k and the size is 267x149, am I allowed to have a sig at that file and pixel size?

THE ENDING DANCE IS TOO LONG TO USE AS SIG/AVATAR

Even if you cut some big parts of it... just to get it under 100k means making it bellow avatar size... and to make it AS friendly, whatever's left of quality goes bye bye...

The only way to make it into a sigy or avatar is to make all the characters into different colored shadows... and remove everything else... which would take too long to do :( ...

can anyone do a 'size-friendly' gif on the LONG LONG ending one on page 3 (post #45)...apparently...the size is 10Mb (wow) but i m just so addicted to the dance lol ^^;

i tried my best to cut out the ones that kinda arnt in the dance...but it is still 2Mb+....my ideal range is abuot 700kb-1.2Mb if possible...think it is 'do-able'??

I made this one some time ago (when first ep aired) but it's not complete

No, I usually cut the talking part without any other kind of movement and so I did this time. As you can see my raw gif, the last I uploaded has 35 different frames. Same of then can be cut down with a minor loss of original animation... but it's another matter.

Anyway this time I've got the raw as son as I can... I didn't understand too much but I enjoied it... and of course I have the first av (raw quality was very low, but now I have a better one for future job)

Animated signs require simple sequences, because not many frames are allowed (usually I go with 6). This time I had to use 7 of them, that's why I had to hit on the height to decrease size (and I had to drop quality as well).
That's why you may not like it, just please put into account how difficult it is with AS rules ^^

The whole sequence was too long to capture for a signature. I extracted just a little bit of it, whereas Haruhi should look dumb enough to fit the text ^^
