View Full Version : Burning anime
Hi, i hope this is the right place to post this, ok whenever i burn an anime with subs on to a dvd to try to play it back on my dvd player on my tv, the subs are half cut of, or cut of period, i mean they are there but on the tv you cant read them becasue there just to low, i tried 16:9 aspect that works good but then the picture is just small, 4:3 its cool but of course the subs are cut of sometimes, anyone know any ideas that can help me out?
That problem is called overscan. I'm afraid that this is a common issue and you can read this informative article at wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overscan) about it. In short, most televisions won't show the entire broadcasted image. Usually you won't notice it, because the broadcast image takes overscan into account and simply doesn't place important parts of the image where it will be cut off.
The common method of dealing with this problem is to place black bars around the picture so that the black bars are cut off by the overscan and the whole image is shown. I'd suggest you read about a more involved solution in this thread: Convert AVI/MKV/MP4 to DVD.
