I guess I was a bit early posting this thread. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Mousefinger/Misc/sweat.gif For anyone that wants to skip ahead a bit, here's a blog entry that I found for this episode. Mind you...this entry does contain spoilers, so just be aware. Spoilers don’t bother me, but they do other people.

Yikes! No, you need to move your decimal point - it would convert to about $1,700 USD.

Man, I can't seem to shake the feeling that they are just jerking us around and making us go in circles with this relationship. And hasn't Keiichi done this disappearing act so that he can work to buy her something before? I was excited for this season since the end of the first season left me disappointed in the development of their relationship. I think Sayako should make some more physical moves on Keiichi to at least make this a bit more interesting.

Fan-sub for this episode is out. Thanks again to AonE (http://www.animesuki.com/group.php/6.html) & AnY (http://www.animesuki.com/group.php/325.html) for all the hard work.

Thankfully I think this season we have Peorth for that ^_^ - atleast one would assume so from her appearance in the OP.

This episode was kinda cute, but I'm looking forward to seeing them start to get back towards some of the manga stories soon. 4th goddess arc plz kk thnx bai.

Was it just me or did belldandy lie in this episode!!!

When Keiichi asks if she had been waiting for long, she says no (something like she only been waiting for a very short time), and then the little one starts saying she had been waiting all night... or am i just confused and thinking of something else lol

The manga has been doing this for years. Considering the anime is faithfully following the manga...

This episode is pretty much a rewrite of the last 2 episodes of the OAV series (without the tree/promise backstory), so if you've seen those, this episode will feel very familiar. However, it is actually closer to chapter 16 of the manga (which I'm sure the original OAV drew on).

She most certainly did. I think the writers overlooked the fact that First class goddesses aren't supposed to lie, although Peorth does tell white lies. Although I would consider what Belldandy said to be an outright lie.

Speaking of Peorth, let's get her in the show already. This episode was nice, but it's time to have some goddess vs goddess confrontation.

ahhhh my whole faith in this series went down the drain the second she lied /cry lol not really but it does make me sad to see a mistake like that and is it just me or does keiichi animation seem to be worse then normal this episode

also i agree the story lines "Nice" but it need some spice!!! lol

The word can be expressive and also logical. In most of the post above you refer it to logical. Belldandy may feel it wasnt long even if it might be long. Sometime when you wait for love one, long waiting also seem short. I dont think she's lying

I gave the episode a 4 for several reasons. If the story is being told in a linear manner, this shouldve been told in season one. I remember this from the manga and I havent read past volume 4. This is definately a season one story bieng told in season two. Which totally scrambles the whole story.

Not to mention the episode was so dull, that I consider episode 1 better. So far they're 1 and 2. That's right. Im looking at this like a pitchers win/loss record. 1 win (good episde) and 2 loses (bad episodes).

This was a nice episode alright. There were some forced things here and there, but I found myself enjoying it nonetheless.

The order of events was scrambled halfway through season 1. There's no going back now. :heh:

I'll take Human-Belldandy over Goddess Belldandy any day. As a matter of fact, I think this is just what the show needs right now.

7 for this episode, not much other than Keiichi working his butt off to buy a ring for Belldandy which symbolizes his feelings for her. It was romantic at the end:heh: . If only that ring sumbolizes marriage instead = = than 3 ep closure for the season lol that'd be funny indeed.

hm, i do HOPE they will put Peorth in within the next 7 episodes, or else they going to drag till the end of the world. Oh well, nothing to complain about as long as they show Goddess vs Goddess arc ^^, im happy.

Good luck with subbing ep 3 Aone + AnY ^^. Keep it up yoooo

Peace outz:heh:

Yes, this also gives another excuse for Belldandy's behavior. Last episode we saw that Belldandy is becoming more a girl than a goddess. And of course, girls can lie. Anyways, for K1 to grab that balloon dangling in the air just for that ring, this episode shows that Keiichi is willing to go as far as risking his very life/die for Belldandy's sake. Even Sayoko has to admire that. It felt a bit nostalgic, don't quite remember if the same message as already presented last season.

Well, as much as I was satisfied with the episode n° 2, I should say that episode n° 3 is a mild disappointment. The animation has ups and downs which make it hard to be brought to supreme pleasure in one episode and then to see low-grade drawings in the next... Well it was also the case in the first season, so I guess that I'll just wait and see.

The story, instead was somewhat "fishy" (no easy pun intented):D . The episode had more focus on the comical aspect of Urd pushing Keichi around on his jobs (and I am just wondering why she didn't seize the opportunity of doing something herself), than on the ring. I have to say that this episode does not come up to the dramatic force of the episode n° 5 of the OVA... But then, the story is different also.

One thing rather annoyed me: seeing Urd on her broomstick at all sorts of odd places at the sight of everyone... The whole story does not really benefit from having Urd mixed up in.

OK, once again my thanks to AOne and AnY for their wonderful job (getting an episode online monday morning... you must be really doing all-nighters on this!). Actually, does anybody know how many members are working on this specific project? I see some names in the credits, but that does not tell me how many are working on this project to keep such schedules...

About lying: uh, was it lying, or did Belldandy seem a bit out of touch with reality, while waiting for Keichi - we all know that worries let us loose the track of time...

I was just about ready to comment on this. :)

I really wonder why Bell and Urd are using their powers so openly in this new season. I though the whole idea was to keep their powers and identities as goddesses a secret.

Did they had a change of heart? Did Odin gave them permission? Or is this simple a sign of the show ditching the manga all together?

The mind wanders

Now a member of the forum asked a question which prompts me to put a debate forward: isn't AMG TV series inserted in a more Catholic context, rather than only Nordic mythology?

Certainly, they are and remain Goddesses, but we have the OST's boxes with photos of Catholic church painted glasses, Belldandy and Keichi are visiting a Catholic church in episode 19 of first season, and in episode 2 of second season, a guy is proposing to Sayoko to "sing carols in Nekomi's cathedral", a typical occupation for Catholics or at least Christians...

Another silly question: how come that Urd and Skuld are allowed to stay on Earth, when Kami-sama seemed to have such bother with the presence of Belldandy in the first episode? Is Kami-sama discriminating against Belldandy? :twitch:

Now, not considering the obvious references to the Nordic mythology (Sleipnir, etc), isn't the TV series slipping slowly towards Christian references?

Gnaa. Stupid laptop page back/forward key obliterated my message.

I'll try again.

I suppose you think I'll completely obliterate this episode because of
the events that likely could have happened in the first season, right?

No. I found it sweet and I found parallels in a lot of relationships I've
personally witnessed.

Also, consider that the first season was spent with him just trying to
cope with the fact that she was living in his home and how to relate
to her. This season is K1 trying to fumble his way into a relationship
with her obviously.

Slowly but surely K1 is going to have a relationship with her one
way or another. There are signs this is finally happening. Ignore
the manga since I've not read any of it, I've heard the stories that
he kissed her in episode 12 and now it's episode 13 gazillion and
he's still terrified of holding her hand, right? We'll forget that for
the moment.

The reason I'm saying this is something K1 did was pretty darn
bold, especially for him. In fact......

I found it shocking, nay astonishing that something K1 did was
completely bold and forward and if any of you had not noticed
it you should have. Bear with me.

In the episode he does several things that are over the top even
for K1.

-He works extremely hard jobs for long hours. This isn't new but...

-He gets to the store after getting the cash and nearly has a nervous
breakdown when he finds Sayoko is in the process of buying the ring.

-He climbs the tree to get the balloon so Sayoko will sell him the ring.
He risks life and limb to do so. Again. And Bel' comes to the rescue
again.

-He puts himself into an unwanted beseeching position with Sayoko.
When she sees how intensely he wants the ring she finally relents a
little. Sure he has to attend her party (is Bel' invited, she'd better be
considering what I'm about to suggest next) but mission accomplished.

-K1 redeems his "I'm frightened of Belldandy" stance with something
completely unexpected for him - he takes the ring and places it on
her ring finger. That's bold. Read carefully.

This is tantamount to: K1 announcing that "She's mine now" and
Belldandy holding up a sign: "Off the market".

It's not possible to overstate the case, this is a betrothal if it
wasn't before - we're talking marriage.

As Obi-Wan would say "You've taken a first step into a larger world."

Not sure if placing a ring on that finger has the same connotation in
Japan as it does here in the U.S. but I was saying out loud "whoa".

I'm probably reading more into it and we'll be back to the timid K1 in
future episodes but that's more like it.

Now, Sayoko probably gets rocks like that every other day but I think
she gave up when she saw how intense K1 got about having to have
it. We know she likes K1 more than a little. Maybe she even thought
that one day he would be like that for her. Given this episodes'
events, I doubt it.

Okay, I'm done. Thanks for bearing with me.

I enjoyed it, though Keiichi did look a little goofier than the other episodes.

I thought it was quite humours "buy it...buy it for Urd!" :p

It was a cute episode, I enjoyed it. A lot of shots of Belldandy which I enjoy! :D

Eh - in the manga, Belldandy is hiding her powers to indulge Keichi (and not using them to be closer to the human Keichi), but she isn't that worried about being found out. She'll tell people point blank that she's a goddess without a problem.

You read my mind. I came here to post about that. He looked so horrible I had to keep looking away from my screen. The animators really need to do something about this. He goes from time to time to looking like a monkey to just really ugly looking. If this doesn't change I might stop watching because it takes me out of the story and is really bothersome.

One thing rather annoyed me: seeing Urd on her broomstick at all sorts of odd places at the sight of everyone... The whole story does not really benefit from having Urd mixed up in.
I'll play devil's advocate here for a moment. Just because we (the audience) and K1 can see Urd on her broomstick doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else can. Urd is a goddess after all, so the plot device of "no one can see me except you" might be in play here. I have no way of knowing if that is what the writers had in mind, but since it would make sense in this instance I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, Belldandy using her powers to save K1 from his fall is another matter entirely. And, if this story is taking place in modern Japan, there are now probably a couple of dozen people who have the entire incident recorded as a digital video on their cell phones. :uhoh:

I rate the episode as a 7. It would have been lower, but I added a point or two because I had the same reaction as aliensporebomb when I saw the ring presentation.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. We included every stuff's nick in the credits --- there're currently 13 members working on it, and so far 16 members have contributed to the project.

The only thing this episode has going for me is Urd in all her onee-sama glory. We see her encouraging and taking care of Keiichi all the way through, and I can't help but get this warm feeling inside and simply admire her for that.

Also, I feel that Sayoko's presence is uneeded here. It just feels like another reason for Keiichi to be placed in some predicament where Belldandy just ends up saving him from falling down again.

So yes, I'll be rating this episode a 7—but most of that is due of Urd's contribution alone. The rest, is nothing new.

I dont think Bell was intentionally lying. Rather it was her own perception.

The sub was released sunday I believe so it was faster than usual.

So far Im not liking season 2 as much as season one. Im hoping it gets more exciting. Ep4 doesnt look too promising either. They need more K1+Bell, Sayoko, or an evil antagonist (mara perhaps). Otherwise, they better introduce the new goddesses. If not, its going to get boring fast IMHO.

Events that would spice things up:
- Kei telling Bell he loves her. I mean a real declaration of love
- Kei+Bell smooch. A real one.
- Someone discovering Bell/Urd/Skuld goddess secret. Like Sayoko
- Mara as a serious antagonist (similar to evil urd)
- New Goddesses and the storyline and complications they bring.
- More meddling from Sayoko going after kei. Perhaps combined with the knowledge that Bell is a goddess.

You can go the romance route with a Bell-Kei-Sayoko love triangle and throw the goddess secret into the fire. It can lead to soap opera-ish stuff like Sayoko threatening to reveal their secret unless Bell backs off, etc etc. The possibilities are endless.

Ah it was okay, it had it's good moments so I rated it a 7. Still it seemed rather slapped together and the animation was weaker than usual and I'm not just talking about Kei did anyone notice how Belldandy didn't look as good as usual. I really do hope this isn't the norm. There's going to be episodes that aren't as good as they should be, that's to be expected, but hopefully it won't be too often.

Thinking: ultimately, what defense could humanity muster against true goddesses
even if their secret were out? Face it, we'd be roadkill against that kind of power.

Anyway, I await the next one because in the aftermath of the ring giving
something has to happen. Either with K1+Bel' or reactions by others...

When people see that rock on her finger they're going to very quickly
put two and two together and it could bring all kinds of mishaps.

What the... We'd be roadkill?! You make it sound like we would go to war with the goddesses. Why would we want to do that?

It would be more like the celebrity/poparatsi (sp?) relationship. Lets see....
-We need food. Please do a food miracle (ala jesus)
-My (insert family member here) is dying. Please save him/her
-Please put an end to crime, poverty, war, famine, disease, etc etc

I'm thinking more along the lines of the governments of the world
would be invalidated by such power.

People in power, who are used to power will do anything to stay there
so that's why I was saying I can imagine a series of governments trying
to go up against them.

But your ideas are actually correct too - hounded beyond belief.
I kind of like the current "people are oblivious to it, mostly" attitude.

If a Goddess appeared, especially one representing a mix of norse beliefs and christian beliefs, all the other religous leaders (hardcore Catholics, Muslims, etc) would freak out and probably try to kill her.

Yes, governments would react to, but before they could do anything you would see all the religous fanatics having a go at it.

I think they would quickly realize the futility of trying to kill her. After seeing she really IS a goddess and not some scam artist, that is.
