I actually saw the live action before going to sleep last night. Instead of having dreams of the Haruhi ED (since I re-watched it again and again before going to sleep), I saw the guy's dance. Hence my frustration. >_<

Oh it'll happen. :heh: Someone will have too much time one day and it'll all fall into place. For me, I'm getting ready for that event by removing the souls of everyone around me with "Plushenko's Bouken Desho Desho?" in hopes of lessening the impact that inevitability brings.

I have no idea what you're talking about.
1) the video is put together by the fan (uploader), just like every other MAD out there.
2) The english subtitle "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" during Kyon's bike shot is part of the anime, there are no subs anywhere in this video. Did you even watch the anime?
3) The song, whatever "version" it is, contained the lyrics for a full song (and since they sung the whole thing = full song, no?). Or do you want me to type out the lyrics for you?

hard to explain it to you...I've done stuffs like that before(I was a composer during college), lengthening a music by pasting and making variation to various parts with music composing/editing softwares such as Sibelius. Some parts are really rigid and if you hear clearly you can hear a slight change in volume and timbre. That's because the music has been edited, cut apart and pasted together to make a new music.

@iamandragon: The song (audio) is the original full version but the video is not original

edit: @iamandragon the change in the volume and timbre you hear is probably caused by the very low bitrate audio compression and maybe you are too used to the short version thus can't accept the full version :p Let's just see in 5 days for the single release.

Really? I assumed it was a copy of the song from the CD (or a pre-release version more likely) and then stiched together some scenes from the anime.

As such, it's not too shabby. I mean, compare it to all the videos we've seen lately of people dancing to this exact music ^^:;

1. Leaving aside all that stuff about timbre etc and just concentrating on the lyrics of the song, my first question to you is: do you understand Japanese? Cos if you do you would have noticed that in the said video there are stanzas of lyrics that do not appear in the tv-sized version of Hare Hare Yukai. I seriously doubt any remixer will have the ability to reproduce exactly the voices of the three seiyuus.

2. Look again at the episode one raw. Kyon's bicycle sequence does have "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" typed out in english underneath it in the raw itself.

Thanks, I'm not sure about the audio quality, but my speaker and soundcard has been pretty heavily tuned, so everything sounded pretty full to me. ^^;

I did notice that the audio was harder to hear when I tried to listen to it on my headphone (Sennheiser HD595) at first though. But on the speaker (Logitech Z-5500), one notch higher than the usual volume was all it took to hear the song clearly. ^^;

And, yes, the video component was obviously put together by the uploader (who's a Japanese, by the way), but the audio (the song) is more than likely to be the actual full song itself.

Some background info on the toys used (aside from the obvious Gunbuster ones), just to preempt the most likely inevitable tangental questions that will follow viewing this video:

These are action figures from the Takara-produced toyline "Microman" which has run on and off since 1974 (it is the first known 10cm--3 3/4 inch--format action figure toyline...a format later used by Star Wars, the 80's version of GI Joe, and so on). Microman is known by us old timers in the US and Europe as "Micronauts", although that latter series ended in the early 80's while Microman continued on in Japan and resulted in the creation of various transforming robot character toys that became licensed by Hasbro as "The Transformers" around 1985.

Transformers performed way better, so Takara dumped Microman in favor of that license...and much later revived it again in 1999 along with a year-long anime series of its own (the 70's Microman only had a spin-off manga, much like the US Micronauts had only a tie-in Marvel comic book that outlived the toys).

In 2003 and onward, Takara released an updated Microman figure line with a super-articulated body, and also sold "blank" figures for customizers wanting to build their own characters.


These figures continued with the classic early 70's "chrome-headed" style (hey, they thought it looked cybernetic and futuristic back then, lol---the 1999 anime changed it to a Terminator 2-style liquid metal armor plating, supposedly) for the main Microman-based continuity toyline itself. Other than the blank figure used for Haruhi's silohuette at the start, all the other figures used in this video are of the latter subset--which is why they all have "those weird silver heads".

an AMV of Haruhi...the graphics are good enough, though the music does not fit at all. You can see the art style of this anime is quite bright and sharp, therefore slow, unenergetic or sad music will never fit in the graphics of Suzumiya Haruhi.
Also the temp does not match with the pace of the animation. It'll be better if you find a different music piece to fit in.

Looks like it comes from a DDR emulator named Stepmania. As for the actual process, I've never actually done a serious Stepmania song so I'm not too sure :p
but I think it will require the orginal track seperated from the video and probably the video itself. That's where Virtual dub kicks in ;)

I was informed that the fans have already pinpointed the place where the anime is based from. See post #139 & 140 here (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=33051&page=7). I'm kinda curious which city the anime is based from as well.

Well, what do you know. You ask a question, it gets you a lead, and voila, we have an answer. I looked up "Japan Manholes" and found the general city. It would be in or around Nishinomiya. Hyogo-ken. The problem is now... How far to these manholes go and where the heck in that area???? Maybe it's near Kansai University, or is it itself?? I'm trying to look in the prior posts as to where it is though b/c they do mention about finding the library...
