Whoa...those are sweet!! Looks like I'll be burning another hole in my credit card soon.
Trading Figures aren't usually that detailed, they're really gone out on this bunch.

This figures come fully painted and assembled* right?
*dont know if this is the right term to use here.
aieeeeee.... there went my next vacation fund....
edit:.... is this for UPCOMING august or last august?? its not listed in "future releases" and is noted as "not available" and "august restock"
This puppy is probably long gone and you'll have to hunt up ebay for it.... <long wracking sobs> ....
editedit: it *looks* like they're reactivating this line (originally released in 2003) so I've pre-ordered it and asked them to clarify if they mean 2006 for the restock. If so, this would be very cool. (do I sound hormonal? figurine hunting is a scary addiction)
@Daniel: yeah.... every trading figure pack I've come across has been "fully ready for action" - and some of them have been really amazing detailed (Tsukuyomi and Shuffle!). The shops are usually careful to call unpainted/unassembled items "kits".

Yeah, I can't see them having 'preorder by May 15th' there if it wasn't due for a rerelease this year - they wouldn't have left that on for the best part of 3 years :)
This figures come fully painted and assembled* right?
*dont know if this is the right term to use here.
So says the site:
Product Overview: This item is a series of gashapon (capsule toys) or trading figures depicting characters or people. It does not require either cement or paint to complete or use.
So you won't need to paint them. However, you may have to clip them together. I think quite a lot come fully assembled (yeah, I'd say that was the right word), but then again some don't (http://www.moyism.com/blog/2006/gate-of-babylon#more-215) (some more examples courtesy of Moyism - 2 (http://www.moyism.com/blog/2006/a-sea-of-pink#more-214) 3 (http://www.moyism.com/blog/2005/where-forth-art-thou-my-heroine#more-176) 4 (http://www.moyism.com/blog/2005/fatehollow-wallet#more-175) Some of 3's are fully assembled, but the majority seem to be put-together. Can't help but wonder whether they fall apart fairly easily.
I've always managed to resist buying any of these things (not too fussed on spending ~£40 on some figures that'll sit and do nothing collecting dust in the corner) but those are so tempting :( But I fear if I buy them it'll start a slippery slope towards financial ruin :heh:
[Edit]Excellent, I thought so... seen as they've been out once before, there are loads of pictures available of the figures. Haven't found out whether they involve assembly yet though, but here are the pics if anyone wants to see them (click links from this (popup6.tok2.com/home2/ mogura/photo%203d.html) wonderful little site) If I've got any of the names wrong, please let me know.

Those various unpainted figures worry me somewhat (if you get 12 in a box, and have a chance of getting those then all of a sudden you're EXTREMELY unlikely to get all of them in one set :( I just wanted the painted ones dammit)
Thanks for those images Valdra - its good to see how well they look upclose.

@Daniel: yeah.... every trading figure pack I've come across has been "fully ready for action" - and some of them have been really amazing detailed (Tsukuyomi and Shuffle!). The shops are usually careful to call unpainted/unassembled items "kits".
I see...
The reason I ask is because a friend once ordered a Final Fantasy figure and the damn thing actually came unpainted & unassembled.
I must admit however, that we never took the time to properly check the info on the site, so we/he could have ordered a 'kit' without knowing what it actually was. :(
So you won't need to paint them. However, you may have to clip them together. I think quite a lot come fully assembled (yeah, I'd say that was the right word), but then again some don't (some more examples courtesy of Moyism - 2 3 4 Some of 3's are fully assembled, but the majority seem to be put-together. Can't help but wonder whether they fall apart fairly easily.
Now this is something important. Guess the only way to be 100% sure is to see the figure/model up close in a store.
Those various unpainted figures worry me somewhat (if you get 12 in a box, and have a chance of getting those then all of a sudden you're EXTREMELY unlikely to get all of them in one set :( I just wanted the painted ones dammit)
I'm not sure those are actually "unpainted" myself. They look like they have a red wash applied, which leads me to thinking that they are a "special" rare version (for want of a better word). I have no idea if they are rare or not but I'm sure that including a different version such as this will create a higher overall manufacturing cost so the only reason I can see them doing it is to make people want both version (therefore create a higher demand and higher sales).
This also ties in with the fact they say "It does not require either cement or paint to complete or use."
The above could also hold true to actual unpainted versions and those made of transparent plastic (as shown in some of the other pictures from different model series). To the model collectors, they would want to try and obtain all the versions of all the figures.

I want Errur plushie that squeeks when you stroke her tail :D
The trading kits I have of Tsukuyomi, Shuffle!, and Negima came painted but required some part-sticking-together. They all stick together reasonably well though I might see gluing one or two of them in the future. I'll photo a couple of them just to show how much detail one might get in this size figure. Its really kind of remarkable.
Daniel E. - Know any stores that let you see them up close? xD
xris - Hm, on closer inspection it looks like you're right. Would make sense too seen as as far as I know Japanese people mostly get the figures individually rather than in boxes of 12. Maybe I should order 2 boxes (not).
Xellos - You would :p

Yes, some places in my city that carry this sort of thing have an open box as a 'sample' of sorts. They tend to use the figures or models to decorate the shop, giving anyone that visits an easy chance to check every little detail up close.
Still, this places are kinda small and I am pretty sure they lack a website; Comic Castle probably being the only exception around here.
Im happy i won't be the only one planning to order the figures - i can't see anyone entering my room with Hakuoro on guard. ^^
@valdra: so far, every trading figure packs I've ordered have been "complete" (all figures at least once, most doubled). I figure I'll sell the extras later on ebay or trade with someone. (packs ordered so far with good results: shuffle! (all five main girls twice), Tsukuyomi (Hazuki in all her eyecatch outfits twice), Negima (all characters available twice), shuffle! half figures (four girls twice, kind of disappointed by "half figure" as wasn't very obvious).
I've yet to order a pack and end up missing any figure.

Huh, I almost always get mine individualy done, but then I get mine at yearly anime conventions, not online.

Really? That's encouraging then :) Judging by that I'd imagine the red wash ones are rarer versions then, maybe in each box you're likely to get all 7, then some of those along with doubles. I remember reading that 2 of the anime bloggers got *exactly* the same figures one time with a Fate/Stay Night set, I wonder... that set also had clear versions along with the main figures, and I have to admit, the red wash versions look muuch better than clear ones.
i can't see anyone entering my room with Hakuoro on guard. ^^
If I had some way to attach him to the door I'd try that :p Or have him hang precariously from a piece of string attached to the ceiling.

I could never do that to Hakuoro.. i'm sure he wouldn't be to happy with you thinking that. ^^;
Just received my Utawarerumono software game .... installed without a hitch and a nice music piece intro with animation rather than just creative use of artwork.
Music reminds me a bit of a German artist named Deuter who did some nice stuff back in the late 80s early 90s ... fusion of indian subcontinent and native-american sounds.

Well, my wallet just took another hit:

Apparently, in the limited edition, you get a bonus DVD that includes among other things a short episode that focuses on comedy. I guess we get to see some of the funnier moments that they had to take out because of constraints...
The limited edition includes volume 1 (episodes 1-4) and volume 2 (episodes 5-7) along with the extra DVD.
Heh, i was looking at the Special Edition DVD on CDJapan.. shall be something i might have to order.
Zalas: Do you plan to order a copy of the new PS2 version of the game? I see Himeya is now talking preorders for a release at the end of August.

I'm trying to see if this local import shop will do it for me, since they'll be cheaper as I can just drive over and pick it up. Plus, I want to make sure I can get a pre-order number that I can fill in on the preorder page to get even more goodies added to all preorders.
Ah, thats good that i'm not the only one ordering it - though with the Himeya release, you get a "Special Booklet", "Special Poster", "Clear File" and "Postcard".
Not to sure if you'll get them with your order, but i know i can't wait to get my hands on some fun extras. ^^

And once more people preorder, they'll add more bonuses.
Ok.. we need more people to start preordering! ^_^
Hmm, i'm finding it fun to work around the site~
Wow, thats a lot of cool merchandise already. I would like to pre-order a lot of them, cept parents hate ordering online -.-
But nonetheless, I think Hong Kong gets them anyways...
So, did anyone get those trading figures in the end? HLJ seemed to stop selling them after the early bird period :o
Also, does anyone know what the extras coming with the PS2 version of Uta are now? According to the site it's this lot, but I can't read much of it >_>

Yeah, those. Typical, they get them back in stock now just after I'm done draining my paypal account with OSTs and Melty Blood >_> Oh well, probably should be conserving anyway. The August restock bodes well though seen as they would've estimated later when they were putting it back if that was going to be the case - it was definitely 'Discontinued' a few days ago.
Someone needs to make a 1/8 Touka, but everyone knows what happens to side characters :(

I was wondering, is there an english site for that? And google translator isnt that great for it.
I just received my "one coin" figure pack.... acceptable quality for the size and everyone is posed nicely.
I guess the only complaint one might have is that it is missing our humongo-swordwielding necklaced lady of gore and mayhem.

I know a shop like that. The guy opens the boxes and and sells each figurine for a moderately higher price. I was quite infatuated with the Aruruu one, but then looking closer, it didnt look that well done.

If you're referring to the one-coin trading figures, go to Sunshine Plaza, the figurine shop (theres only one devoted ENTIRELY to models) there was the one I was talking about; he sells each for SGD10. Last I saw, (Mon) only Aruruu and Eruruu and Kamyu were left. Other than that, the figurine shops in China Square Central (Chinatown) also sell the trading figures, at SGD7.50, but they are in the boxes.
Head for CDJAPAN and pre-order the 1/8 model of Eruruu. You must have it. Obey the fox-girls. Its in the collectibles section of the site.

It'll be good if someone who gets it can post clearer pictures.. the ones on the site arent that clear. If its good and if it comes to Singapore I'll get it for sure.. Her dress looks really nice, and she's in a nice pose. But I'm worried about the hair.
Now I just need a Aruruu 1/8 model.

I'll try to take some pictures at lunch today and post them. They're pretty small but I think I can get a decent enough shot with my pathetic digital camera.
Good news!! For Singaporeans at least. :heh: La-tendo at Sunshine Plaza and the shops at China Square Central have stocked the Eruruu 1/8!!! Haven seen it up close myself yet, but I'll try to go down next week to check it out.

Not sure whether this should go in the game thread or what but anyway...
I've decided to buy the Utawarerumono PC-DVD game. Looking at Himeya Shop, that's roughly $100AUD for the game, and then either $25USD or $75USD for shipping, ouch. Although I have $200AUD to burn, paying up to $75USD for shipping seems quite steep.
Any advice? I live in Western Australia, and I'm going to pay via money order (I don't have a credit card). Are there other places to look at that will ship for less (without the order being lost).
I'd love to get the PS2 game too, but one big problem... I don't have a PS2 ^_^
Its what i've been wanting for since the first episode.. and it finally has a release date - the OST! ^__^

Its strange that these days, ost's tend to be released after the series have finished.. ah well, Uta' has brilliant music - i'm just hoping no tracks get missed out.

As for paying by money order, well, you come unstuck about there. I was gonna recommend paletweb but they don't appear to accept Australian money orders (they accept most countries', but not Australian. Or the UK, bleh) Are you sure Himeya even do? They don't seem to specify but I remember money orders looking kinda messy last time I looked at them on CDJapan's site. Palet only take US cash or paypal (credit or debit, I always used debit because I don't have a credit card either) soo unless you can use either of those then Himeya's your only option. EMS is still expensive at $19 (I can't see the $75 UPS being any faster than EMS is already so avoid it like the plague), and their $95 price tag for the game is ridiculous, but if you really want it that might be your only option. Unfortunately.
Hope that made sense, seriously sleep deprived right now >_>

Thats why they'll try to fit everything onto one ost - and thinking about it, there hasen't been an amazing amount of tracks played in the series.. so i think we should be alright.

I'm tempted to buy it too if only because I like supporting companies that choose to package 2 CDs for slightly above regular price instead of milking it with 2 full priced separate discs that often are far from full anyway. Plus Uta did have good music, so... oh well, we'll see.

Thanks for the reply. This will probably be the first time I buy something online and from overseas, so this is all new to me. Checking Himeya Shop, they do accept money orders. I do have a PayPal account, but it hasn't been activated yet, my bank statements from June onwards are missing so I can't tell how much PayPal deposited, but I'll work it out eventually.

It sounds odd (cus, uh, they're called International Postal Money Orders and all) but for some reason like I said neither CDJapan nor Paletweb can convert mine or your country's to cash. Of course they don't mention it, so it'd be kind of a bad thing on their part if they had to be selective but... eh.
If you can get the paypal account all verified and stuff then that'll definitely the cheapest way - a bit slower seen as paypal takes its time when transferring money to your account, but seen as sending a money order to himeya (they don't take paypal or debit) would take time too, and they're apparently pretty slow to ship as it is. Anyway, if you wanna check how much paletweb'll charge, go onto their site (http://www.paletweb.com/) and scroll down the middle until you see 'please contact us', which will make a box pop up which asks for your name, email address (so they can email you the reply), and then the contexts box, where I'd put something like:
Hello,
Would you be able to sell the Utawarerumono (うたわれるもの) DVD edition for PC? The Amazon Japan link for it is:
ttp://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B0000YD6BQ/ref=sr_1_5/250-1687816-8465814?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1157815004
Also, how much would [X] shipping be to Australia?
Thanks
Add a h to the beginning of the amazon link (if I put it it shortens and won't copy properly) and replace the X with shipping what you'd like - EMS does tracking and is maybe 1 or 2 days faster than airmail, but is more expensive, and airmail's still pretty fast but has no tracking and is cheaper - I usually use this. Also, you most likely won't run into any customs taxes seen as they'll ask when you're confirming the order if you want them to put a false value on or anything. Which is always nice and is part of the reason I like them. If they haven't changed their pricing system from when I last ordered it'll work out something like $60 for Uta (far cry from Himeya's $95 isn't it?) plus $16ish shipping charge. May take a little bit longer, but that's still money that could be spent on other things after all.
Either way, hope that helps. Your first Japanese PC purchase always feels good ;)
Good news!! For Singaporeans at least. :heh: La-tendo at Sunshine Plaza and the shops at China Square Central have stocked the Eruruu 1/8!!! Haven seen it up close myself yet, but I'll try to go down next week to check it out.
Damn lucky. I hope they have it for HK soon... lol
^ Haha I still haven seen it yet (:heh: Work just started) but I'm getting mixed reviews about it from friends who have; two say it sucks, one says its great.. So.. :heh: Anyway, when I do get time to go down, and if I buy it, I'll post some pictures here.

Please make do with the crappy no-focus handphone shots for now, I'll be er.. borrowing the office digicam on Monday (pilferage 4TW!) and doing a small review. First impressions: Not bad at all, detail to dress and movement creases is just superb, no obvious seamlines or paint defects. I've just some gripes about her face being a little thin; making it not exactly 100% Eruruu-like, but it passes. Plus some nice eh.. features too.. :D More on Monday.

So yes, really, I swear she's pantsu-less. No, its not that she doesnt wear one; I just can't see her pantsu!!! Proof:

Yep, this is one of the rare figs that sports a full length skirt; ah, modesty, a trait of such bygone times. (I suppose one could unscrew the base if he/she was really desperate)

Look at the beauty of her dress creases.
What really really caught my eye about her was her immaculate dress. Amazing detail, down to even the pattern on its fringe. I could find no paint defects; seamlines were well hidden, you have to squint to see most of them; colour and sheen were perfect. Her dress: (thumbnails from here on)

I love the way they gave her dress flaps,
so its not like one boring single uniform
dress; plus it really helps accentuate the
creases even more.

and on her bowtie. And her small waist too :naughty:
And yes Zaris, one of the features;

http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/2595/face1bigga0.th.jpg (http://img108.imageshack.us/my.php?image=face1bigga0.jpg)
Notice the blush, btw.
Uneven seamline I'd wish they would close;
tho it's only a problem on one side.
http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/2604/seamgx0.th.jpg (http://img71.imageshack.us/my.php?image=seamgx0.jpg)
Other than that, this Eruruu looks a little thinner than usual, especially her neck imo. Also, I was actually hoping her sleeves would be empty up to where they met her arms, but they're actually block. Makes it look kinda funny sadly.

Yea the face is a little incorrect, but judging the overall look, it's definately a quality model (compared to the ones I and most definately you have seen).
One of the reasons I adore Eruruu so much is because of her dress. It's not like she's wearing two kimonos over another, but it's different and I don't know how to describe the layout. Something about the kimono is very mystical (and it has the colors of an FF white mage ;D ). And the fact that she has the characteristics of the kind of woman I'd like to get involved with (but that's for another thread ;O ).

I finally got that PayPal account verified. I also e-mailed Paletweb, and they replied saying that they do sell the game and provided a link: http://www.paletweb.com/selectpage.asp?code=00798
Following the link, it says that registration is required to view (because it's 18+). I attempted to register, but it's become a real mess, I just can't log in, and I never got a confirmation e-mail which probably means I didn't register properly. Do I need an eBay identity or something? I just want to know how much it costs so I can compare it to Himeya.
Click on "PC Soft (DisCount)" and then go to page 8. Utawarerumono is listed there for $72.99

No you don't... that's weird. Sure you entered everything properly/checked junk mail etc? If not, got another email account you could try again with?
Anyway, the game is $72.99. Shipping to be added on to that is (first number EMS, second number Airmail):
North America Area $ 20.40 $ 16.00
Oceania Area $ 20.40 $ 16.00
Europe Area $ 24.00 $ 16.00
Asia Area $ 15.20 $ 12.00
Other Area $ 31.20 $ 20.00
I forget what area you're in now so take your pick xD

Thanks for all the help, I just ordered the game from Paletweb. I guess I have to wait for the shipping and billing details in the mail now.
Is the PC and PS2 game the same as the original based H game except more things added or something? And is there a difference between the PC and PS2 beside game console?
And whoot, got my Eruruu model too ><

I think the big drawcard for the PS2 game is that it's voiced (unlike the PC game where you can only read the text). I wonder if I should go buy a PS2...
If I remember the battle system's also been redone with quite a few changes :) Which is a pretty big draw too.
Oooh. So the PS2 and the PC version are the same, and its based on the original H-game cept with touchups?
As far as I know:
PS2 Version = PC Version + redone battle system + voices - ero content
Ah alright then. Since they are the same, prolly the PC version ><
The PS2 version also has an additional female character that's not present in the PC game and is not introduced in the anime.

Hmm, if there's an extra character, then that means the storyline will be different. Whether it's a small difference or a big difference, who know...
By the way, I ordered Utawarerumono PC game, and it arrived today, yay.
Waaah lucky. Yesasia is releasing the PS2 version on Oct.25.
WHY IS THIS ONLY A DRAMA CD?!?!?!?!?!!?

HAHA i actually got the Touka figure by luck!!
it was last year's Fanime and yeah coz they were all in boxes and you could only rely on your luck..
but then the guy selling those merchandises was nice enough to open one of the three boxes left of the utawarerumono figures to help me decide, and he got the blond girl w/ wings..forgot her name > <
and then i got to choose between the last two boxes....and i got Touka!!
man i was thrilled :p
and the quality was pretty nice enough XD
so my luck basically saved me for getting my favorite character in this series:D
i was trying to download the PC game, but it takes hecka time and i don't know when it would be completed....:upset:
AHHH i need a PS2..seriously, and then i can play higurashi and this series lol
