Ths is a different version of teenaged Rika and Satoko (with Hanyuu).

As you can see they are still at the same school in Hinamizawa. Rika got Rena's uniform while Satoko got Shion's uniform. Hanyuu is still in her normal school attire, though slightly more filled out. Best guess is that this would be 1987 (though it would be more fun if this was October of 1986)

Technically, given the references given about all the main characters, this still makes sense, as the "older" main cast was always considered to be within the 14-16 age range. The reference ages of Rika and Satoko better cemented Keiichi, Rena, Mion and Shion at the younger end.


Still, it feels weird to think of how you viewed the world when you were 13-15, so it may not be as strange (in a cosmic sense) as first believed.

Depends, if the arc takes place after April in the future, then Keiichi would be 38. In the game it's explained that he was born early in the year and is technically older than Rena/the same age as Mion, but is in Rena's grade because of the school cut off point. I believe that Keiichi was born in April and Rena was born in July, but I might be completely off. ^^;

Since the main part of Higurashi takes place in 1983 and Miyo has been in Hinamizawa for probably five years, and that she'd have graduated from college, places her flag collecting days in, at the latest, the early 1960s, and likely the late 1950s.

The coloring style look very much alike except this one looks like it's using a different gradation of green. The shoes are different and the eyes seem a bit wider and rounder on that anthology cover. Well, I guess I'll figure out the actual artist when I purchase the actual book. XD;

What do you mean? The image on Yoneda (or Nakamori, according to her email address?) Kazusa's K-Pencil blog and the Satoko cover look very much alike, apart from the coloring style. Especially the style of the faces seems very similar, IMHO.

Ah, you guys are right. I looked back in the first two volumes and that does look like Yoneda's Satoko. Plus she specifically says that she illustrates the cover and one of the stories for Volume 3 on her blog.
