This is not a joke.
It has been posted at the Official TV-Tokyo Website (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/bleach/). A section labeled 'MOVIE'.
I pray that this is not a joke, and there would be indeed an upcoming Bleach movie.
I'm also taken by surprised, after learning that news.
No more information has been disclosed as of yet.

Indeed. It is jarring to see a segment that cannot be placed at any time during the course of a series. I'm not holding my breath though.
Almost all anime movies are created as sidestories to the anime which have no bearing on the show and can be ignored without losing anything of import. That's not a problem. The problem is that about a third of them cannot be placed entirely into continuity. There are often at least a few small details that place the story into mutually contradictory timeframes.
That 2005 Jump Festa though.... that wasn't a few small details. That was a completely different world that only slightly resembled the timeframe after the Soul Society arc. Completely outside of all continuity.
I won't waste my time praying for complete continuity. Let's just hope it's closer than that last OVA.

Hope Bleach The Movie won't be alike to naruto 2nd movie, I think Naruto 2nd movie is abit lame....... Only some part were exciting, many part were boring and the animation is a weird.

A BLEACH movie with theatrical cinematic production and ample animation//FX budget sounds great to me...As long as it's a GOOD scenerio (doesn't have to fit anything really) I'd be amped to watch...

It bothers me a bit that they are doing this now. I mean it's supposed to be out in december, which ought to be right about (based on many guesses) the time this current arc ends, and the manga portion starts back up. Not a good time for another possibly non-continuous project. At least not from a marketing standpoint.
It seems like it's being somewhat rushed, since this is the first mention of it, and it doesnt look like anything is done (based on the trailer that almost any fan could whip up with a little effort). Hopefully they're just playing it close to the vest, but it's hard to say. I just hope that they put out a quality product, even if it doesnt have anything to do with the story. Overmarketing has killed franchises before, and i hope that this will not be the case.

Various definitions of filler
Story which is not in the manga.
Obviously, this is true of nearly all anime movies related to an ongoing TV series. Such movies are never based on manga.
Animated story created to give the manga time to get ahead of the TV episodes.
Well... Since the movie has nothing to do with the advance of TV episodes, it is impossible for a movie to fulfill this definition. I suspect that this is the definition that Thewanderer uses.

Heh. Since some anime has been bad despite being based on manga, obviously this is not any sort of proper definition of filler. Unfortunately Naruto has hammered the idea into people's head that filler=bad. I also suspect that Clamp-X is using this definition in his post. At least this is the only definition that makes sense in context.
Actually, definition 2 is the official definition, but I understand that we aren't all using the same understanding of the word, so I make allowances. Definition 3 is frankly wrong, so depending on whether you use definition 1 or 2, a movie is either ALWAYS filler or NEVER filler.
It is meaningless to wonder if a movie will be filler.
The chances of the movie being in continuity are virtually nill, maybe it'd fit in as a filler sort of thing but anime movies rarely have any impact on the main storyline.
Besides, filler isn't always bad. The current Bleach filler is decent for being a filler arc, and filler in Hunter x Hunter is awesome. You know the part during the hunter exam where everyone works together on the ship? That was a sneakily inserted piece of filler.

Nothing has been re-animated or is in higher quality.
I noticed it and you shouldn't be so eager to jump on peoples backs.......there will be some re-animating or touching up if they're planning a theatrical release. Its common sense in all honesty, just look at any of the Gundam compilation movies, who the fuck is gonna go watch a cut down version of something they get for free on their TV if they're not making any additions to it or re-drawing some scenes?

Why would they call the Gundam movies 'movies' if thats essentially what they are summed up? Well maybe we should now call it "Bleach: The Theatrical Release!"

The only thing solid here is your inflated ego considering that your the ONLY person whos replied so far after I posted the link and felt the need to make a post with a rather derogatary tone directly at me for some light off comment/opinion that may or may not be true.
As the trailer refers to a "final battle" or saishuu kessen between two powers it is more likely that the movie only involves the characters that are shown in the trailer rather than re-animating battles from the arcs.
However, I apologize for my behaviour in the previous post, I cannot say right off the bat why I behaved as I did but I don't want to continue this pattern so I'm sorry and ask for forgiveness.

I think it will be pretty much like the OVAs.
Just some extra story that, maybe, totally unrelated to the manga.
I for one think that promo trailer is fake, done by someone with some fancy editing skills. The movie seems to be genuine from their website and ANN, even though i can't read japanese. Although no information about the movie is anywhere other than from people in forums making random guesses. I'm going to wait till november sometime to get excited about it though. To me there's no poing guessing or debating when there's no information out.
1. It is real
2. Its released in november. It is nothing special if they dont give you the footage.
3. Its highly improbable they will be just * remaking * the whle anime coz thats gonna bedumb. I prefer something totally out of canon than something that isnt new at all.

I would have been excited about the movie, a year ago whilst the series was looking great and without fillers. Im going to imagine that the movie is just one big spin off from the series. Money, money, money, is what Bleach is about now.
From Bleach 7: the plot of the movie: Strange occurences have befallen Karakura City! Soul Society has issued an official first class warning provision! The influence of darkness is spreading because of a terrible plan that has been set into motion. One hour until the collapse of the world…will Ichigo and his friends be able to save the world in time?
Jump's info The next wave of information on the movie will come on July 31st in issue WJ35. It also said to be on the lookout for some info on the movie in the anikichi section. The only tidbit that might interest some people is that supposedly, the movie will be "overflowing with bankai".

i just hope that the movie is good. i really wish that i can see it in theaters though, with the sound effects, big screen and all. but that's impossible here in the usa. judging from the trailer, the movie probably is in theaters somewhere out in this world just not here in the usa. japan maybe.

the movie will appear in japanese theaters, i doubt it will get shown in the usa theaters, hardly happens thats why let alone Bleach just got licensed in the USA so they wont be showing this movie there in a while, maybe on TV but devinently not in cinemas

As you said it will be released in Japan in December . Then we will have to wait for the official dvd release to get our hands on it . That will be a long wait just like Naruto Movies :(

FMA anime was already ended thus they could continiue it in movie form, making a movie that would have things to do with the series would change the entire script line in way of interaction and development, because it didnt happen in the manga they wont make a anime related movie untill the series probably end or it just wouldnt fit in you would have to deny the movie's excistance or edit everything from that point on :heh:
im not into the movies either, but i skip through them for the action scenes, thats it... i liked the FMA movie its one of my favs, but this ones going into the Inuyasha, Naruto movie box

From what I can understand there will be a movie, in december, called "Memories of nobody". There should be a preview (on tv?) on 2006-12-08 and it will be in cinemas on 2006-12-16. I don't know if I got things right, but the fact that there will be a movie in december should be right at least... :heh:

Most likely not as Rukia gives a very detailed explanation regarding her Shikai and her strength and how Byakuya curtailed her progress . Thats not possible in this arc
If rumors flying around are true ... Bleach will revert back to manga storyline till the Vizard Taining arc ( before ) and second set of fillers will begin . That point in the storyline if filler 2 starts there are potentially no plot-holes
so there's a bit in the new series OP from the movie that has ichigo riding on bankai zabimaru...

I just edited out the name of Rukia's shikai from a post (and quote) above. I hope that nobody will mention it again since it's name has not been mentioned in the anime. Obviously the existence of such a thing can no longer be considered a spoiler since it was in the OP, but nobody should spoil it's powers, rumors or name. Keep in mind that the name hints at its ability so this really is a spoiler.
From the traliers the action part seems good. I hope the story is good too.

Many say that Senna is the daughter of Ichigo from the future although the mother's identity hasnt been revealed. No one has confirmed that this information is true. Some believe it's only a mere rumor started by fans who support the Rukia x Ichigo pairing seeing that Senna looks like Rukia.

Just visited the official website and watched the trailer. Nothing more than what we already know but two things are worth noting.
1. Ichigo said "I don't know much about this world but this much I know, I will protect you (senna) no matter what"
2. At the end it said "Will you give your life to protect someone important?"
*大切な can be important like an important friend (Chado, Ishida, Rukia..etc) but it can be used for a loved one as well. I guess we'll have to watch the movie to find out what kind of relationship Ichigo and Senna will have.
I don't buy the story that Senna is Ichigo's daughter from the future. It makes no sense for her to come to the present. Ichigo in the future should be much much stronger with more control over you-know-what.
In my opinion having her as a love-interest will make the movie more interesting. In the manga both Rukia and Orihime are friends or comrades to Ichigo. Going to save the love interest adds more spice.

Just visited the official website and watched the trailer. Nothing more than what we already know but two things are worth noting.
1. Ichigo said "I don't know much about this world but this much I know, I will protect you (senna) no matter what"
2. At the end it said "Will you give your life to protect someone important?"

It does sound like something Ichigo will say; he pretty much did the same for Rukia. The whole I will save/protect you stuf. We'll have to watch the movie to find out what Ichigo sees Senna as.
I think we can all agree that when Ichigo went to SS to get Rukia he saw her as a friend/comrade/someone who changed his life. As far as I can tell from all the trailers he seems to be putting more emotions into saving Senna than Rukia.
I don't really care who Ichigo's love interest is. May it be Rukia, Orihime, Senna or even Tatsuki. It's an anime so who he ends up really doesn't matter. What I want is a good movie, 90 minutes of entertainment. In my opinion if Senna is the temporary love interest the movie will be more interesting, so I'm hoping she is.
On the other hand, if Senna tells Ichigo and Rukia that she is their daughter from the future while saying bye to them at the end would be pretty funny. I can just imagine the look on their faces :D
But then again
For the manga readers we know how strong the child of a shinigami (Ichigo) can be. If Senna is the daughter of a vaizard and a shinigami she's ought to be pretty strong herself. From the trailers her combat abilities don't seem to be anything special.

I've played Bleach Heat of the soul 3 on psp for quite some time now... and i've used the shikai release several times.

-Memories do not play a huge role in the OVA
-There is nobody called "nobody"
-The absence of people(Hinted by "nobody") isnt even in the plot, unless we are talking about the stereotypical "Soul society does NOTHING!" plot device so Ichigo can savethe day(they better not do this).
Its like they wanted a catchy english name and ran with this.

As Bleach is liscened we are not allowed to talk about subs .. All I can say is it will be still around 4-5 months min for the DVDS to be released taking FMA Naruto movies as a standard . And well as it a movie there will be dvd release only unless the producers think otherwise and air it on TV

There was an article in shonen jump way way back where Kubo was asked this question . There are two contradicting answers to it . I have not read it so I dont know which is true I would go with first one

well, i like how in Gintama, the main characters had a discussion of why thier manga was called Gintama... Gintoki (main character) finally decided that it worked well to have a name that didn't really describe the show that well, but sounded cool so they could sell their show to little kids the same way Bleach and Naruto did. (though, yes, Naruto is the main character's name... but still). I guess one word names are thought to be best for shounen fans with short attention spans.
Bleach is unique and easier to say/remember than calling it Soul Reapers or Shingami Cup or Soul Society Chronicles or The Meloncholy Death of Kurosaki Ichigo.... ahem.
Plus, B comes early in the alphabet so its easy to look up.
I'm glad they didn't just call the movie "Bleach Movie 1" though... that would have sucked.

Yes Movie Released in Theaters on Dec 16th in Japan . But not here , the dvds of the movie may take 4-5 months to release till then we cant watch it ..

Actually, this is my own speculation, but I think the term Bleach has more to do with Ichigo than it does his hair.
I can't remember which episode it says this, or the full details of it. But I do remember that Ichigo has a raitsu that's constantly overflowing out of him and onto everybody else.
As if he's bleaching everybody in his power. Which explains why his sisters can see ghosts, and why his friends start developing strange powers.
I'm willing to bet, that if my 'theory' is true, we'll probably see more of Ichigo's schoolmates and/or his family start developing powers of their own when the series returns to the main arc.
But yeah, I think that's the meaning behind the name Bleach, but I could be wrong.

According to Box Office Mojo (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/japan/?yr=2006&wk=50&p=.htm) it was the 5th most watched movie the week it came out, and was kicked out of the top ten the week after.
Since I don't know how succesful are movies adapted from series, I compared with Naruto's first movie (since they have the same target)
Bleach's first movie made $1,228,917 the first week and didn't even make the charts the 2nd week.
Naruto's first movie made $3,183,027 the first week for a total of $11,042,133 in 4 weeks.
This is great news in a way , this indirectly means Bleach Movie may air on Tv to recover losses or faster dvd releases . The wait wont be that long as previously expected :D

Those are some interesting interpretations, InsaneFox. :) As a matter of fact, for a brief period, it seemed liked Tatsuki was developing spiritual powers, but nothing has come of that, at least yet. I don't read the manga, though, so I'm not sure.

If Bleach movie was a dud at Jp Box Office IMHO it was due to bad timing . Bleach Movie was released in btw filler season . Consider I am big or huge Bleach fan ( That I am ) I am frustated with fillers would I pay extra cash to watch a 1/1.30 filler extragavanza . Guess Not ...
Also out of 3 Naruto Movies the first was the most sucessful , though 2 IMO was the best . Naruto Movie 1 was released when the orignal storyline was going on in the anime .

For Example, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 came out on DVD on December5th. It was out in theaters on July 7th and made over 1bil world wide - 400mil in the US.
Fearless came out on DVD December 19th. It was in theaters September 22nd and only made 24mil in the US (66mil world wide).
Both made a profit in theaters, but its still an example ;) I really can't think of any flops right off hand :D

I'd also agree with bad timing as part of a reason it didn't do so well. I avoided bleach for 9 months, and only recently have I gotten back into it (with the filler ending). So I probably would not have gone to see it in theaters even though I consider myself to be a fan simply because I haven't been super hyped about bleach since the filler began.
Anyways, Im pretty sure the author of Gintama gave it the name Gintama because he thought it'd be funny to have a name that sounds almost exactly like Kintama ( the word for testicles ). I read that somewhere before. I mean, come on, everyone gets a kick out of hearing lots of little kids saying words like testicles when talking about TV shows they like.

I'm hoping as such! The first Naruto movie was decent, and the rest are fallen under the land of mediocrity. That said, I still watch these movies a shounen series pumps up so often because the animation is so superior than their TV series counterparts.

Well i just saw the end of the bounto parts of bleach. If there are anymore after that they would be good or just the start of the episodes again so i can remember it i saw that part a long time ago

Took a brief look at it by jumping from scene to scene. The quality of the rip is beyond horrible. Even that bad of rip couldn't hide the fact, this movie is no crap. It has fantastic drama surrounding Senna, (the cute girl in the movie).. the music, as best as it could be heard, is very good. The story is your usual shounen cheese, but the cheese had flavor and very tasty. Meaning, the movie has high level of entertainment value.
Since this movie doesn't seem like a crap, then as some of us have already guessed, Bleach isn't as popular in Japan as we thought. That's, probably, one of the reason why the movie didn't do as well as a Naruto movie would in the Box office. The target audience could be a factor as well. Bleach is catered to a older audience than the Naruto series. Kids take their parents to the theater, budding teenagers hate their parents! It's the circle of nature that affects the economy just like everything else. :heh:
Anyway, to reiterate, the movie seemed solid. Byakuya-fans and Kenpachi-fans will be in for a treat!

No kidding the quality was beyond bad. Lol. It looked worse then the FMA movie camera rip. This was literally a shaky-cam =P
The CG backgrounds are nice, but some some of the SS arc episodes were animated better. Alot of the times the characters looked really stiff and jerky, especially the running animations.
edit: It appears that the last few minutes is left out on this movie rip. Gotta wait a few months for the dvd it looks like!

I think its drawn if you zoom in it breaks up fast and also the colors are more viberant than plain ole screen captures . I am not sure , the graphics in that IMO is vector ( lines ) while normal pics are scalar or raster (pixels)

The military hats ' Berets 'are an added touch I never had seen the henchmen before as I havent seen the movie yet . There is one chara in the henchperson who does resemble Rangiku with Purple hair .

Depends, if the movie bombed at the box office, its a fast track to DVDs in an attempt to recoup the losses. Even then it will take a while for them to make the DVDs and get everything ready for the DVD launch.
What i AM surprised is that there are no japanese bleach fans frequenting these forums...as evidenced by the complete lack of info on Bleach : Memoirs of a Cheesecake. If there were at least ONE, he would have watched the movie and posted a plot summary and thoughts.

Reminds me of the Bount arc.
Ichigo fights villain twice, both with bankai. First time, can't win (in this case, get's completely owned). Second time, win, inspite of villain powerup. No power level difference for the protagonist...I don't even see the point of this movie. Nice animation tho.

i watched a very crappy quality of the raw version the other day as well.
normally i'm hooked into movies, but i didn't have a problem turning this off half way through to go do something else. i finished it later though.
the only thing that i liked was seeing Rukia's soul slayer. but the version of this movie i watched the quality was so crappy it's not even worth me making a .gif animation or even a screenshot.
and towards the beginning, there was a funny part with Ichigo and Kon.

while i find jack black to be a questionable choice for ichigo, i thought kate winslet was brilliant as rukia. black played him too nice, but winslet was just right: even parts sweetness and coldness. also, cameron diaz hit every note i expected for orihime (though her bust size is incorrect). jude law was pretty much a wuss, which i think was underselling ishida a little, but he still did a nice job with it. and ed burns was a reasonable chad. tall and quiet, what else could the fans want. well, they could want the deep voice instead of that high pitched Irish whine... but I digress.
it is just such a shame that hollywood felt the need to make it los angeles and england instead of karakura and soul society. but i'm not complaining since it was a major hollywood release. it was nice to see hollywood finally make a big budget, star driven adaptation of a shounen manga/anime series.

They are starring in the live Hollywood version that premeried yesterday. Didn't you watch it yet? Personally I found it very disappointing. Hollywood finally takes on an anime project and they put out this sort of garbage? I expected better from stars like these.

Yea, she didn't exist.
The biggest clue was how her memories conflicted with one another, and her image of father kept changing.
On the Tombstone, the names written were:
佐藤 一夫 (Satou Kazuo?)
佐藤 学 (Satou Manabu?)
As for her 'reappearance', I think they're trying to imply she's back in the cycle of rinne (Death and Rebirth). That's probably what ichigo would be happy knowing
It was an alright movie... Highlights were
Urahara's drawings being on par with Rukia's (Is it a Shinigami Trait?)
Byakuya stalking Rukia to Dangai to look after her (I rofled when I saw the pink petals appear out of nowhere)
and @ strike101 : The movie aired before the Arrancar arc. I would say that's why Rukia's shikai is worth mentioning

She is the collection of all the memories of the blank souls that got lost during their soul burial. She is a shinigami because she has the memories of the lost shinigami who lost his sword in that world. All the memories put together created her, thats why she kept remembering herself with many different families but at the same time could remember her original presence of being senna...if that makes sense...

Just saw the subbed version of the movie, and it did indeed seem like a "filler arc" out of the TV series episodes, but with better animation! :heh:
Anyway, it's the usual Bleach plotline, with Ichigo desperately trying to prove that he can protect someone, er, something (?) or whatever the heck Senna was! Fights were okay, but they seemed to try to fit as many characters in action scenes (particularly the members of the Gotei 13) so there were really no "epic" fights.
The "cameos" of Byakuya and Kenpachi, in particular, seemed more of an afterthought (or perhaps fan-service?) to me. Seeing Yachiru outrun that fast "ninja" guy made me smile, though, and Soi Fong's Suzumebachi's effect is what how it should have been shown in the TV's "Bounto" arc...instant kill, no groveling in death throes and such!

Yes, I thought it was extremely good. The action was pretty much not bad, but the plot was really good IMO. I just didn't like how Senna was drawn, and some animation was kinda choppy. Overall, just because of the plot alone, 9/10.
I never really liked Soifon much, but her fight was one of the coolest fight here, only because we finally see it in action.
WOW!!!! What a great movie. This movie alone had like everything. But the story line was the best. This is what Naruto movies need. Anyone agree? Oh the girl in the end isn't Senna it's someone that looks like her.

Wow I'm going to post again to say how good it was. It was partly I didn't expect it to be that good because it's Bleach, but wow that was good. I'm a romance/drama type of person so to be wow'ed by this is really rare. It's probably one of the best movies of a series IMO, only second to Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal.

I liked the movie alot. Was worth the wait, I'd say.
Plot: Quite good, coherent plot. It's pretty fast paced, the 1 hour time limit really created some tension
The actual plot got pretty cheesy at some times, with Ichigo swearing on his soul again =/ The ending was kinda depressing with senna's memories deleted and all that, but i guess that was only to be expected, since the movie was not supposed to make any impact on the storyline. I was kinda surprised when hits and team ( wow even byakuya? ) went to SS, in a way disrespecting the commander's orders. The background story, including the rationale for Ganryuu attacking SS is kinda blur, it was hastily covered. .But yea, basically, it's all because of SS old laws =/ Shouldnt we change the old geezer yama's seat already =O
Soundtrack: Pretty disappointing. Basically anime soundtrack, nothing new.There were some new background music, but on a whole, It isnt much.
Animation quality: For a movie, it dosent disappoint. Animation errors are there, In some points the animation drops a bit, but when good animation quality is needed ( fighting scenes ), the movie delivers.

Only other thing of note was ken-chan finally getting some action once again even though it was short lived. I really can't wait for them to do something yachiru...I just have visions of that little pink monster really wrecking havoc when they finally let her loose. :p

In the movie there was an interesting scene: Ichigo opposed the shinigamis when they came to the real world in order to take Senna in custody. They were going to fight for real, but the idiotic bad guys interrupted the clash.
What would have happened if the idiots wouldn't have show up and Ichigo went bankai against all of captains and vice-captains present at the time?

Well just like acting is important for movies, voice acting is important for anime. In my opition, Japanese voice acting portrays much more emotions than the dubbed, because they worked directly with the directors. There are some good dubs such as FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, and FMA, but most of them I prefer the Japanese dub.

You should make sure to watch the stuff that comes after the credits.
Anyways, I liked the movie and think it was one of the better movies based on a series. Each fight was perhaps a bit brief because of the number of different encounters, but I really liked the storyline.
Definitely worth a view.

Yea dubbing in ages past was generally synonymous with edited, but its not quite as bad as it used to be. Anyway like khold said beyond the censoring generally most English VA work is just horrible...Theres a few gems out there but on the whole the quality of work just isn't remotely comparable.
Anyway getting completely OT here...The only thing that disappointed me about the movie was the villains. They gave way too much of a bounto vibe (Absorbing souls, trying to destroy SS, leader with a scar, etc.). But I guess its not easy to dig up captain level opponents out of nowhere... :heh:
Movie was great. Kubitite has a flaire with making very likable female characters that are innocent and flirtatious.
Why is it that Soul Society is so terrible at negotiation. For an organization that is probably as old as time, they probably start more unnecessary wars than totallitarian regimes of the recent past due to their confrontational nature. All they had to do was use some diplomatic words like, "We, the 13 squads, are here to protect Senna. Ichigo, you are relieved of duty. We'll keep her safe from the bad mofos out there". lol but nevertheless, fun stuff ^_^

hmm i just watched this yesterday and i can say this sucked for a bleach movie
1)The bad guys were made to look really strong but they got pwned by the captains/vice captains/seats in less than 1min
2)Too much talking though in bleach anime there are like 2-3 episodes of talking only :heh:
3)Everything is kinda rushed for a 1hr 30min movie maybe it's due to time contstraint...
overall: 4/10

That's the point though...it's not your typical Bleach episode with all action. It had a moving plot and good overall dialogue, especially at the end. I almost felt like I was watching a masterpiece unfold.
