I don't like the fact that Chihara Minori had to use falsetto. There's too much computer layering in Mebius.

I happen to like Musica, although it's a bit boring. And the lyrics aren't very character-referential. This is becoming less like a series and more like a Disney franchise.

I can't say about the lyrics as I don't understand them. :heh: It is a pitty if they don't refer to the character or even future storys, like the old ones do. (If I am not mistake, SELECT? is more or less about Disappearance)

I like Under "Mebius", however. Don't see why computer layering is bad. It fit the character and is good to ear.

Speaking on the lyrics. Anyone know if Tanigawa is consulted when they are whriten? Or is just an interpretation. I ask it mostly becasue Kimidori's song. She has almost no screen-time and yet a deep song about her (supposed?) character.

Well, I dunno if Tanigawa was consulted. There was no implication that Kimidori ever wanted to be human. I suppose all of the DHI want to be human though.

under Mebius is just a bunch of babbling that nobody can understand. MUSICA is just a more vague and sad version of SELECT without Disappearance references. Greed's accident is definitely Disappearance referential.

There is no implication of whatever Kimidori ever wanted. :heh: She barely speak in the anime and in the novels. That is why Fixed Mind is strange to me.

Now, Under "Mebius" is really babbling or you just don't like it? :heh: I know the chorus don't make much sense, being just words not conected one to another. I could understand it, tough. At last the end of the lyric is basicaly Yuki confirming her own existence. The last line is something like "selection comprehension junction confirming self-motion"

About Greed's accident, I haven't heared it until now. :heh: It is a good song. I am curious about the translation of the lyric now.

I read the kanji. Even if I translated it wrong, it's still mostly random words about either "existence", "impossible", or weird things. My suggestion is it might be Nagato going in error right before Disappearance.

Greed's accident...well, the first word in the first chorus, "kiete", literally means "disappeared".

Well, I can't really understand kanji, but I have a dictionary. :rolleyes: And I also know the basic about particles (wa, ga, ka, ni...). As far I could understand of Mebius it really seen to be a reference to Disappearance(oh, well, is hard make any thing about Yuki without using that book). Some few key wods make me think your theory might be correct ("restart", "inconsistency", "to warp", "self-restore"...).

I am sill curious about Greed's accident. :p But no one bothered to translate.

I'm sure, right? The problem is that none of those words are coherently connected in sentences. Meaning she probably is just going on about changing the world.

And I did make an attempted translation of Greed's accident and under "Mebius" using Babel Fish, Google Translate, a kanji dictionary, and a little common sense. Thanks for that. You see, now I can understand I like Mebius even more. :heh: Made perfect sense to me, including the past that don't make sense. Is probably like you said, so it is intentional.

Anyway, you made a mistake on the translation. In the last verse, the last 4 kanjis are not the same as in the begining.

Compare:

and
選択理解分岐点判明自動
(sentaku rikai bunkiten hanmei jidou)

By the way, I think Under "Mebius" make more sense then Greed's accident (again, assuming th lack of sense was intentional). At last in you translation.

Nagato's character single reached 13th on the oricon chart with a sale of 6,320, Haruhi's one reached 16th with a sales of 5,071, Mikuru got the lowest with 4,120 reaching 21st.

Hetalia France's character single reached 3rd with a sales of 19k

Why are the sales so low? Look at K-on, some of the character singles have some pretty medicore songs. As much as I am a Hetalia fangirl, Nagato and Haruhi's singles were actually pretty good/better.

Well they're not the most amazing singles ever, but I do think they're quite good for character singles. I mean Haruhi's one was much better then usual crap stuff that Hirano Aya pushes out, she's not screaming in the mic for once. But I do think it's quite interesting that Nagato sells better then Haruhi now, the only reason I think of is that Hirano Aya's popularity has gone down hill while Chihara Minori's has been going up. Minorin's singing skills for a seiyuu is just below Mizuki Nana and Mayaa Sakamoto, her lives are pretty good. Goto Yuko just can't sing.

It's really weird that character singles that are aimed at fujoshis actually sell better. Sakura Addiction from Katekyo Reborn actually sold 60k in its first week (actually they released two different versions, most likely people bought both versions and made the sales number sky high), Hetalia's England sold 31k. In the first set of character singles, Kyon did rank the highest (I don't know whether he sold better then Haruhi), so maybe character singles are more popular with female audience.

I'll laugh if Kyon sells better.

I guess it's just that the whole video combines to form some sort of incredibly stupid...thing. I think it's the parts where she's driving that really just cement the whole video as terrible and useless for Aya Hirano actually looks at the road, she turns the steering wheel in the wrong direction. She would completely have either killed someone, crashed into some variety of structure and killed herself, or just epically succeeded at life and accomplished both at once.

I guess that's why she's wearing the helmet in those parts?

I though people had started disliking her before that. I'm not entirely sure why. I think it might be because she was being so successful while still being so young. She wasn't even 18 yet when Haurhi came out in 2006.

Well, is not like anyone pay atention in a typical eroge main character is it? =P The girls are always more popular.

And Kyon's situation is similar. How much merchandise do you see with him? He is the main character but was the last to gain a Image Song last time. At last this time he was before Taniguchi. :p

So we're probably looking at another two weeks-ish before we see the boys' covers. Or maybe next week, if we're really lucky.

Eh, I think Negi from Negima! might count as well. Specially recently. But, well, the show is more a fight shonen then a harem now.

You GOT to have heard of Platinum, 3rd opening of Cardcaptor Sakura right? Or Hemisphere? I urge you to hear Maaya Sakamoto's live of Trianglar, she can actually screech that high live without being off tune. As much as I didn't like the song itself, I still find her being able to sing that song live amazing. You can't compare Maaya with Yuko Goto in any way, in terms of singing anyway. -is a Maaya fan-

I just want to see how well Kyon and Koizumi perform on the charts. Most merchandises that's got Kyon, Koizumi is extremely closed to kyon in some weird ways. -stares at her issue of Newtype romance with Kyon holding a little Koizumi plushie-

Because she screams in the mic when she sings. For some reason she picked up that habit after the first run of Haruhi. I can tolerate this sort of singing only with Haruhi's character singles, because it's sung in character. For a normal single, it's not an ideal way to sing. She's not an awful singer, it's just that she isn't good yet she still push out concerts and countless of singles. Oh I actually liked unnamed world. As a seiyuu, sometimes her voice acting is amazing (such as Haruhi and Reira from NANA), sometimes it's going to rip my ears (such as White Album). Hirano Aya is pretty, that's one thing for sure.

I actually liked her at the start, it wasn't untill like a year after the first run I started disliking her. Around the time when I first heard 'punk' version of Bouken Desho Desho, then I starting thinking her singing is over rated. After that she never impressed me with another seiyuu role either.

I have to agree with you. The original Bouken Desho proves that she is much, much better at somewhat calmer songs than, say, Super Driver.

And I dunno, she was okay in... um... Queen's Blade. :p

It may be her style of singing but it grates the ears. I especially don't like her renditions of God knows... and Lost my music at the Gekisou concert.

Chihara's much better outside of character songs. She was marvelous in Paradise Lost and Poet's travel.

Hirano Aya's style of singing doesn't hit it for me. I don't think it hits for alot of people. But I have no problem people liking her singing. If Hirano Aya goes back to her style when she sung God Knows and Lost My Music, I would find her singing alot of barable. Although I do prefer Haruko Momoi or Masaki Endou versions.

On HIMEKA's kareoke session on niconico douga, she did Bouken Desho Desho, all the comments was 'Hirano is crying' 'The original singer is crying'. I just laughed my head off.

Chihara Minori's singing lacks her own style, but she's a very capable singer. Paradise Lost was amazing. I remember seeing the Haruhi concert for the first time, I was disapointed by Hirano Aya's singing (this was before I started disliking her) but amazed by how well Minorin sung. Animelo 2007 just further proves Minorin's singing skills, now she's already one of the top singing seiyuus.

What I noticed is, Hirano Aya's fans are general seiyuu fans. Who would actually like a seiyuu who can voice characters well, Hirano Aya is pretty darn good when she does put her heart into it. Minorin's fans are seiyuu singer fans, who likes their seiyuus to be able to sing well in live. Minorin is going for Mizuki Nana's route, seiyuu work as a side career, singing as main.

One also has to consider what seiyuu roles they got, too. Aya just got moe, moe, moe. Suzumiya Haruhi from Haruhi, Amane Misa from DN, Izumi Konata from Lucky Star - all characters rather easy to pull off if one tries. Minori got the more complex, harder-to-do roles (Yuki from Haruhi, Minami from Lucky Star, Kagura from Ga-Rei, Aya from Tenjou Tenge, Chiaki from Minami-ke)...

As a proof look at the dub casting. Wendee Lee didn't quite pull off Haruhi (she got close) but she did manage to get through with doing Konata. However Michelle Ruff just...failed with Yuki and Minami. Dub Yuki sounds like a true emotionless robot rather than a quiet reserved interface unable to understand the world. And dub Minami sounds evil and emo. EMO. XP

Wendee Lee did have the enthusiasm but she over-bitchified Haruhi's character. As for Ruff...it was completely strange to see Eng-Nagato turn to Eng-Kyon and silently ask him to let her go to the Computer Club.

I actually think it's one of her best.

She's come a long way & she's still learning.
Plus translating and trying to put a song into english along with the beat is not an easy thing to do. Some people are picky when it comes to staying true to the Japanese counter-part =__=;

I liked her singing better than Wendee Lee's, no offense.

Good to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't really like her stuff. I feel like her voice is all wrong for the songs. For some reason, when she sings, I feel like she should be singing those Disney Christmas songs. I liked the dubbed songs because they sounded like actual songs, not awkward translations jammed to fit the songs.

I really really wish they dubbed the full Lost My Music, because that song is so awesome and it feels great to hear it in English.

I generally don't like CVee stuff. She's a great singer, but she puts her stress on the wrong syllables (God knows... was "couldn't eVEN share YOUR PAIN beEcaUSE I was scARED")...
That's also one of the things I sometimes dislike about Cristina's songs. Still I don't think it's necessarily her fault. The people who write her lyrics are more to blame (whoever wrote the lyrics for her Don't Say Lazy dub was especially bad).

Her Super Driver lyrics are a lot better IMHO They don't have the awkward phrasing that's in some of her other dubs.

Ono Daisuke has an average singing voice for a male seiyuu, even songs released under his own name are average. Nothing amazing, but good enough for 'idol' (If Hocchan and Yukarin are 33, Ono can still be considered as an idol at 31 -roll eyes-). But it'll definitely sound fabulous ~

Am I the only one who thinks Itsuki's CD sounds like a meme homage? One sounds Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" and the other was all... boy band-y. It was relatively hilarious.

When does Kyon's CD come out?
Someone said it'd been pushed back to December, I think. My computer can't load Japanese so I can't go check.
