I am having a problem 'naming' my anime perforations, so I am kinda hoping that you guys (and girls) could help find some new series’ based on a list of series I liked and disliked.

I really liked:
- Suzuka
- Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora (episode 5 and 6, the beginning was kinda dull)
- Shuffle
- Honey and Clover.

I Disliked:
- Air
- Aishiteru ze Baby (most of the episodes).

The anime has to be meaningful, touchy and romantic...
Any help and/or suggestions would be welcome.

Timo

Hrm, possibly Lamune and/or Canvas2.

Touch might be another possibility, or Nana (it's airing right now).

What is your opinion on Fushigi Yuugi and Twelve Kingdoms?

If you like either of those - Tale of Saiunkoku (aka Saiunkoku Monogatari) may fit the bill.

The first few episodes has some romantic moments...it also has quite a bit of historical material, but I don't know if you're into historical stuff.

Hope this is a decent suggestion :)

I just laughed when I read 'anime perforations.' Great joke.

I think you'd do well with Kamisama Kazoku. It may seem like fluff, but damn - Tenko is a complex character.

I am going to try out the first episodes of Lamune and Canvas 2, which both seem to be my style. Do i need to watch Canvas 1 before Canvas 2 btw? I might try Nana too, but the drawings etc seem to be a bit diffrent than what i have seen in the other series.

Cant w8 till i get some episodes of that serie! :D

What is your opinion on Fushigi Yuugi and Twelve Kingdoms?

Both seem fantasy like, which i havent tryed before. I will try Twelve kingdoms which seems to be popular.

I am Dutch so my English aint that good, so i use word grammar checker. It tends to mix up words :P :eyespin:

What i have read so far, Tenko seems to be complex indeed. I will this serie 2. Is it correct that there are only 3 episodes btw?

--> Tnx for reading this threat and helping me find some good serie's! For some one who is part time interested, its like getting dropped into a wide ocean.

I loved Suzuka. Seriously.

Being in that genre, I think you should watch Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.

Hello. Ok meaningful romance. This one kind of strays from the usual high school setting of alot of this kind of genre, but 'Koi Kaze' has got to be a favourite of mine... i usually don't watch romance anime... but this was different, i loved it. alot more moving then any i've ever seen. Unless you don't mind the lack of comedy, you'll love this... i hope. If you watch it let me know how it goes.

p.s this is ike the second or third message i've ever sent on any forum or anything as i am new to the internet... so if i did something wrong i'm sorry... if i have, dont be afraid to tell me what an idiot i am.
I hope i helped you.

I think that's a pertinent recommendation. However, one requires an open mind to watch Koi Kaze, and I think only I among a good amount of people once watching it (in our class, anyway) got to finish it and be happy with its resolution. :)

timojasper since you liked my onegai twins recommendation i also recommend: Great Teacher Onizuka - its a little off what you say but again you will definatly know with this series whether you will like it or not after episode 1.

Dont worry tho - this series is one of the best I have seen.

Again let me know what you think =).

Hows onegai twins going so far by the way :D?

Onegai Teacher is at least 3,456,752 times better than Twins.

onegai teacher wasnt the same for me.

I think its whatever u watch first you like best kinda thing... ya know :D?

but might not be that - i personally like onegai twins much more than onegai teacher.

No... No, not really. :(

Fair enough. But I don't see how a mediocre love triangle anime can top student/teacher goodness

well i watched onegai teacher first, but i prefer onegai twins a lot more, maybe because of the main male character Maiku, he had a personality tons better than Kei in onegai teacher

oh yes, Victorian Romance Emma is a sweet romance too with beautiful backgrounds and a lovely soundtrack
and I actually thought Da Capo pretty romanitic as well, especially the later part of the series
Apart from that, you may want to try DN Angel, Fruits Basket (hint of romance), Kare Kano and I, My Me Strawberry Eggs

Not that I would really qualify either as great by any stretch of the imagination (though i do own both), but I saw Please Teacher first and I prefer Please Twins.

Kei's fake "standstill" illness kills me every time it comes up. In the funny parts of Teacher (especially the parts involving Mizuho's family), I think it's significantly better than Twins, but unfortunately there's only a few episodes that really qualify as that.

I watched Teacher after Twins, because I didn't realise that Twins was the sequel. Made a bit more sense after watcihng Teacher :) And I kinda preferred Teacher, but Kei could've been a little less whiney in the way he said 'Sensei' ;)

Do i need to watch Canvas 1 before Canvas 2 btw?

Nonono, you really shouldn't watch Canvas 1 first at all. Canvas 2 is an entirely seperate series with it's own story and characters. Plus, Canvas 1 kinda sucks.

If you're gonna call it "Please Teacher" you should go all the way and translate it to "Please Sensei" ;)

Anyways Onegai Twins left me with absolutely no impression. I'd practically forgotten the whole thing by the next day. Onegai Teacher has always been one of my favorite anime. And yeah, I don't really like the whole standstill thing either... but at least it made a respectable attempt at being meaningful.
Have you seen the 13th episode? (the OVA) It's absolutely hilarious.

To be entirely honest, I did like teacher more than twins. But that's because the teacher was super-so-hot that my eyes get fixated on the monitor ... ;)

onegai teacher is better. the ending theme reminds me some of the emotions i went through watching it(not much)
i also watched it before onegai twins

Watch Elfen Lied then finish it off with Kimi ga nozomu eien if you haven't watched them yet. **must watch**

As the resident Tsukihime fanboy, I command you to watch Shingetsutan Tsukihime and revel in the noble yet tragic romance of two beings on polar ends. Its romance is more poetic than Elfen Lied, bearing more sacrifice and love: a sacrifice that transends a whole of one man's existence and a whole vampire's. To sleep forever dreaming of the one you love so as to not hurt his kind - simply majestic, royal, and hands-down awesome.

_I_ didn't "translate" it at all (relevant portion of previous post highlighted and bolded)(though i do own both)I never think of it as Onegai Teacher because my R1 DVDs say Please Teacher instead. :) Though it is funny when someone calls it Onegai Sensei, not realizing that in Japanese the title was actually Onegai Teacher. :)

I actually bought both R1 releases sight unseen because they seemed like the kind of thing my wife would like (and I was right, she did). She actually likes Teacher slightly better, but again, neither of us is really saying one is vastly better than the other, or even implying that it's actually good, just offering up the point that it's actually not which one you see first, and that there actually are reasons to like Twins over Teacher. I think the thing that bothers me the most about the whole "standstill" thing is twofold. One, why do we have to make up a fake disease when we can just say he was in a coma? And two, the episodes that deal with the whole standstill bit at the end of the series are by far the weakest of the series. If Teacher had been more about what happened in the first couple of episodes and the OVA, and less about the episode where he was stuck in the standstill the whole time, I would have a much more favorable impression of it.
And yes, I have seen the thirteenth episode. I think the OVA episodes of both series are about the only ones I've watched more than twice(both are very amusing). :D

Though, to be more on topic, I don't look at the list that person offered up and immediately think of either Teacher or Twins, and am unsure how a list that started with Honey and Clover, Suzuka, HanTsuki, and Shuffle ended up on that series. Though if you do end up liking Teacher and/or Twins, I can come up with many more recommendations in that vein, starting with Midori no Hibi, Karin and Mahoromatic.
To be even more on topic, if you liked Honey and Clover you might give Kare Kano a try. :)

Okey I got both GTO and onegai twins. I havent watched them yet, but they seem a bit diffrent then to what i am used to. They look fun though, i will deffinetly try them.

I also got one episode of Cavas 2 which I really like, I wonder if I need Canvas 1 (if it excist) before canvas 2.

Again tnx for all your recommondations!

And you should seriously pick up 12 Kingdoms. It's like the Lord of the Rings of the anime world (meaning it's epic and very in depth, there aren't Orcs or anything like that).
