Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of Episode 10? I see what I think is episode 10, but I never saw a RAW release. Did Ep. 10 already air or was it cancelled because of the World Cup? Maybe it aired on a different station?
/EDIT: Nope...it's not Episode 10. It's a "joke".

Just for reference, this episode of School Rumble was delayed today because of the French Open, meaning that it didn't air until 4:30AM Japan Standard Time.

:heh:This will probably be my favorite SR ep of the second season. All my favorites show up and lots of awesome stuff.
The card game was probably the highlight of the episode. It was like something out of Akagi and they even had a narrator that sounded like the one in Akagi. There was also a parody of the movie "Ghost" which had me rolling. Lala as Tenma was cute but her habit of yelling like a maniac is kind of getting old, although having Tenma imitate her was hilarious. The last part which was a b chapter if I remember right was great as Ichijou and Lala take down Shibuya:heh:. Next time the return of Napoleon:heh: can't wait

Yeah, this episode is fairly solid. I've been waiting for the return of the "tea routine" for a while. Some great facial expressions in this one, too. See the difference that Eri makes to School Rumble? Episode quality up! :D

I'd be more pleased to see this sort of thing if the animators didn't make it quite so blatently obvious that they want to milk that cosplay-moe appeal for all its worth. The bunny suit in Ep.7 was particularily horrid - not only was it out of place, but it looked awful on her, to boot. Moe is good when it's pulled off properly, but either way, those efforts might be better invested in giving her more personality. :(

Suou does look quite cute, as does Eri. Yakumo can't pull off the swimsuit look half as well that those other two characters can. ;)

It was a combination of a distinct question and a distinct statement, rather than a combination of a premise linked to a conclusion. Do you follow, now? ;)

When I saw you applying the principles of logic to a value judgement, I thought some silliness was in order. Didn't you post with the intent of dancing in circles?
Besides, I'm guessing that your real issues were with the later sections of that post. ;)
On a second watch, I'm somewhat amused by Eri's concerned look when Harima was eating the curry - especially since she was tormenting him just one scene earlier. :heh:

It has already aired... but I don't think there are subs out yet.
It's a pity I had spoiled myself with screenshots (armwresltling scene , Lala new hairstyle.) . That lowered the impact of the jokes when I actually watched the episode. >_<
But I have to say Lala is amusing to watch when she is embarassed or trying to act like a cute school girl hehe . She needs to refrain herself from going into Terminator-mode and stop yelling every time she opens her mouth. :)
Good eppy.

Just watched it. It's great! I must confess I enjoyed episode 10 much more than the two basketball episodes.
It's refreshing to see more Harima & Hanai comedy action (though the Harima/Hanai rivalry is good, it's nice to see them co-operating as well). The parodies are great too. Harima's answer to Tenma's math problem is ingenuous and funny too.
This episode has win-win all over it!

Points for True Path Faction, and a little Flag Faction, but otherwise, an underdeveloped plot in the episode made it a little boring in my opinion. The curry thing is really funny, but I have to agree to the earlier comments on Lala, her voice is really becoming annoying.
On the comedic side, its solid (but not as funny as the eariler episodes), but story/plot development wise, I gave this episode a 6.
(More Flag plz)

A good ep. Had a lot of funny parts although my favorite is still ep 4 with the onigiri haha.

This was the best episode of the series so far...I laffed harder this ep more than any other...It looks like they've gone back to their formula a little more...I hope it stays more or less about the core group (I like Harry Charkenzie's group too though^^)...Started off great with the bikini shots of all the members, Miko and Eri shots were tounge-waggingly hawt and even Akira with her lovely sun-baked skin was in rare delicate, sexy form  ..Ofcourse Tenma looked like damn fool which was my first big laff of the show XD...
I'd like to know what anime they were trying to spoof with the poker scene? It seemed to be a Hiramasa Ogura & Fuhimiko Takayama (Patlabor wxiii, Ghost in The Shell) type of animation style they were trying to go for...It seemed really neat the way the characters were drawn in that style...Anyways the funniest scene of the episode had to be when Hakai had gone unconcious eating the lava-curry and all he could do was scoop "air" and eat it...I had to rewind that scene atleast 5 times and busted out laffing each time :p ...Also that blonde-goofball getting his arm fractured by Toko was also pretty damn funny if not disturbing...
The after-ep with Lala was good too...Her voice is so damn funny when she says "Ichijhou" or anything really...she looked really appealing in this episode to...Don't know why she was getting so obsessed over her hair when it looked fine (even cute) after she cut it...I don't know if she was funnier this ep pretending to be Tenma or last ep when she was tearing all the insides of that guy's Air Jordan's with her monster feet X)...It seemed all the girls (including Lala)got some really hawt visual scenes in this ep...All the girl characters (even Tenma when she was worried about Harima and the cake scene) got the hawt treatment this episode :naughty: ...I think the staff has finally hit it's stride as this is the type of School Rumble epI've been looking for... It took them a few eps but this is the first episode that really reminded me why I liked the first series so much...I hope the eps that follow keep this type of comedy and pace...
The poker scene was an Akagi spoof.

A good ep. Had a lot of funny parts although my favorite is still ep 4 with the onigiri haha.ep 4 onigiri and also the bald track eps were superb--bc of FLAG! Lil bit of flag action here, even some sweet moments between Harima and Tenma. Also Harima/Hanai competition+cooperation makes for good fun. Nice ep except for Lala, but fortunately the minor characters were largely scaled back in this ep and it went back to the good ones. The swimsuit pics were nice of course.
Basically the more Eri and Harima and the less minor characters, the better. I'm neutral toward Karasuma but lean away from him. Takano kind of gets on my nerves, her deep voice esp. Miko is insignificant thus far. This ep was a huge improvement from the previous ones, back on track now! Volcano curry...I loved those erupting bubbles and Harima's unfailing tenacity.
Lala's part at the end was a waste IMO, I would've preferred a longer ep instead. This series is so unorthodox about when the opening and closing credits play!

2006-06-15, 21:24
I agree on Lala's part being irrelevant, but hey, this is school rumble, and all minor characters wheter we love em or not will definitely get airtime (and somewhat a character development).
Maybe I'm looking much more of Flag/Onigiri scenes that I forgot the basic Sukuran formula (Moshpit of Characters and Endless Spoofs). I should stay out of Romance manga and anime more. Haha.
Though I still wish for Flag/Onigiri scenes. XD

Though I'd love more airtime for the regular School Rumble characters (Eri, Tenma, Harima, etc), giving some airtime to the side-characters (Lala, Satsuki, Sara) is a good thing too. However, rather than featuring these side-characters by themselves (Lala in the Shibuyama scene, or Lala-Satsuki interaction in Episode#09), I would rather have these side-characters tie in with the storyline of the regular characters.
For instance, Yakumo became more involved in the storyline after she joined the Tea Club, got into the Tenma-Mikoto-Akira-Eri friendship circle, got involved in Harima's manga and worked in the cosplay cafe frequented by School Rumble characters.

Yeah...Wonder what's happening, more of the side characters are shown rather than the MAIN ones!! It's like a they jumbled all the students then they pick...oh Satsuki, Lala you guys have a story arc here on episode 10This must be the reason why it's called School Rumble :heh: A Rumble of all the students.

The most that was seen of her was her the cat and her mind reading stints. She's still relatively peripheral though, somewhere in the middle of the other characters

I want to learn more about that mind reading stuff or at least see it play a larger role in the show. I mean she is the only one with supernatural powers besides ichijou but we havn't seen too much of it. I love the opening scene when Hanai wiggles his arms at Yakumo.

When was the last trace of mind reading? Was it in a recent ep or was it in one of the OVAs? All I remember is that Harima was working with Yakumo on his manga and she could finally read his mind. It was some kind of intimate moment.

The Tsukamoto sisters seem to have some kind of ESP powers. Yakumo is able to read the minds of people who like her. Tenma is able to bend spoons easily (see OVA 1)

In School Rumble Term 1, Episode 1, Tenma told Yakumo that she had made preparations to be in the same class as Karasuma. In addition to praying for half a year, having read her horoscope, having a stem stand in her tea (considered to be lucky), she said that she also bent a spoon with her mind (at 03:41).
And in OVA1 (10:20), we see Tenma bending a spoon with her mind as she was trying to make preparations to be seated next to Karasuma.

It's important to remember that the School Rumble anime largely follows the manga, though sometimes it combines several manga stories (such as the recent 'people's jobs' story which combined bits of several side stories with new material). It only rarely creates a story from scratch (the guys' cooking contest).
So who appears and who does not and how is largely dictated by the manga and who Kobayashi Jin chose to highlight as he went along.

Harima x Tenma moments are few and far between, so it's great to have one in Episode #10 (curry contest). If I remember correctly, the last one is at Term 1, Episode 06 (where Harima got hospitalised and Tenma went visiting), excluding all those manga-scenes Harima drew. Almost always, Tenma would either believe:
(a) Harima is a monkey/kappa/policeman/fortune-teller (haha)
(b) Harima likes Eri-chan
(c) Harima likes Miko-chan
(d) Harima likes Yakumo-kun
