View Full Version : Shodai and Nidaime real brothers?(spoilers)

Ever since its been said that the 1st and 2nd Hokage were brothers I've been a little skeptical. Of course the most obvious thing that threw me off was the fact that they looked nothing like each other. The biggest hint comes from the final battle in Naruto one between Naruto and Sasuke. If you notice whenever they are talking to each other on opposite statues Naruto is always standing on top of the Shodai and Sasuke is standing on top of Nidaime. My guess is that Nidaime was a Nuke-nin from the village hidden in the mist, which would explain his mastery of water jutsu. Nidaime and Shodai were great adversaries until they became great friends, and they became like brothers and together they founded Konoha. Coincidentally in the Valley of the End, Naruto admitted to Sasuke that he was like his brother.
Are all these things merely a coincidence, I wanna know what you think?
(p. s. sorry if certain parts of this had spoilers in it I don't know how to do the tag thing)

The thing is, the statue isn't of Nidaime, it's of some other ninja. Notice the hair is different for both of them, as the staue has massive hair and Nidaime has shorter hair and a furry back coat thing.

Not being sarcastic, but why would it be of some other ninja, and if it was who else would it be, and hair can be changed.

it could have been uchiha madara, because sasuke was always standing on that one side (just speculating)

Also Kakashi and the little dog spoke at the end, they said something like "its a coincidence that the fought here" meaning that a battle took place here, with the people have connection (not nessasarily blood, but the relationship and events) with Sasuke and Naruto.

I don't know you could be right, I wasn't really paying that much attention to it, all I saw was Naruto standing on the statue of the Shodai and I assumed the other one was Nidaime since they are always placed together, but just to be sure I'm going to look back on the episode and make sure, however even if it turns out it wasn't Nidaime I'm still not convinced because Nidaime just seems far to different from Shodai, physically and mentally. Nidaime's mannerism's and facial expressions are a lot like Neji, Sasuke, and Gaara's, so to me he seems more like a converted bad guy.

I think one connection is Naruto -> Hokage - Shodaime, and the other is Sasuke -> Sharingan - Uchiha Madara.
Sasuke won the battle, and could have killed Naruto if he wanted to. It is said that Shodaime died at a young age despite being so powerful. Killing the 1st hokage in his prime, it should be a very strong person, maybe Madara won the battle with his MS eye.

Themost simple reason is when you make reference to yourself, you talk about your Parents and Grandparents, unless any other person inside your family tree is more famous than them.
Shodaime and Nidame are brothers. That much is simply a fact, however different they may look. As for the statue, well, it's pretty obviously not Nidaime and it was never implied that it was. At this point we have no idea who it is; all we have is a claim by Kakashi that his situation with Shodaime closely mirrored that of Sasuke and Naruto.
maybe Madara won the battle with his MS eye.

Yeah, that is another possibility. And it may be that Kakashi was referring to that when he talked about the similarity.
It may be that the Uchiha decided to make very strict rules for themselves and also keep the secret of MS a secret after one of them (Madara) killed the hokage for/with the MS eye.
And it also may be that Kishimoto is playing a game with us keeping the last akatsuki member's identity a secret, so that we begin thinking what if it's Madara, the 3rd MS user Itachi was talking about.

Any good possible explanation why Nidaime didn't have those special genes which can control bijuu and execute Mokuton jutsus?
I'm thinking they could be just half-brothers . . .
It hasnt been mentioned weather Nidaime had the ability to control demons or not, we only know that Shodai did.

Are you serious, Nidaimes eyes look nothing like a hyuuga clan members eyes. Even if they were dont you think those clans would brag that the hokages were members of their clans.

I thought about that too. Looking back at the chapters it was stated that Shodaime's Mokuton abilities were unqiue to him.
In other words you have to have his DNA to have that ability. Only unless the 1st and 2nd were identical twins (which they clearly are not) would they have the same DNA sequence.
Notice that Tsunade also does not have this ability even though she is Shodaime's direct descendant (Granddaugther).
Only Yamato has this ability because Orochimaru spliced his genes with the DNA of Shodaime.
As far as whether they are brothers through a friendly brotherhood relationship like Sasuke and Naruto (or Sai and his "brother"), full brothers or half-brothers as far as we know in the manga they have only been called brothers so they are likely actual biological brothers.
And they don't necessarily have to look alike to be full-brothers, perhaps one of their parents had White hair and the other dark and each takes after one parent over another. Such a think would not be unusual in anime.
As to the identity of the men in the statues at the Valley of the End, they are infact the Shodaime and Nidaime. Kakashi states that the two people portrayed in the statues marked their battle with the building of Konoha village (the founders of Konoha have been stated to be the two brother Hokages).

Actually that statue looks like Sasuke CS lvl 2 more than anything. :heh:

They both have spiky hair, the stature is simply longer.
The dress is similar though there is no furry around the collar for the statue.
Face is hard to tell, looking at the rock cliff of the Hokages they don't look exactly alike (different facial expression) but they don't look so different.

I would not be so quick to objectively say it is not Nidaime, but it possibly isn't.
Perhaps the Shodaime had another rival he fought a battle with?
I think most agree that the other stature had a strong resembalence to the 1st Hokage.
