Well this went so fast I wasn't sure what to make of it. It's already winter break and Harima gets locked out of his own home thanks to Itoko. This is on top of the 120 page he was ordered to do by the editor in chief of Jingama. So what's a guy to do stay with the tsukamotos for a week:heh:.
Tenma's tests to see if harima is fit for yakumo was hilarious as she impersonated each text message sent by her friends. Anyway episode ends with Harima confessing his love to what he thinks is tenma but turns out to be Iori and Tenma misunstanding the whole thing. At this rate it won't be soon until the anime catches up to manga so wonder how this is going to go.

I've seen the raw! This episode was funny in some ways, I gave it a perfect score because the 2 main characters namely Harima-san and Tenma-chan have alot of air time. And don't forget Yakumo. I need to see the ones with the subs! Reminds me of the cover of the new manga. Yakumo(right), Harima(middle) and Tenma (Left).

I just watched the raws too. Probably one of the BEST episode (that doesn't have Flag development) in the whole series. Even though I used the manga for dialogue reference, I can't stop laughing on certain scenes.
1) The Godzilla-like Editor in Chief crashing into the room and laserbeaming all the participants except Yakumo in the seminar,
2) The uber kawaii chibi version of Eri when she's mentioning her the man she wants.
3)The "WTF" chibi version of Mikoto with the DDD cup. That almost threw me out of my seat.
4)Tenma copying Yakumo's voice was so hilarious (and quite decieving, just a little lighter than the normal Yakumo).
5)Iori running away from Tenma while she was dressed as Yakumo.
6)The creepy+funny background music of the last scene, parodying Resident Evil. Licker Tenma anyone?
7)I almost forgot. That thumbs up mark that Harima gave Tenma was really funny too. Tenma, as stupid as ever, returned the thumbs up. Hahahahaha.
Tenma as Yakumo = instant win
Can't wait for next week, when Harima imitates Mikoto :heh:
Yakumo really likes Harima. No doubt about it. As more Tenma, I love when she acts like a queen. She remind me of Akira never smile before. Anyone did?

I haven't gotten the chance to watch the episode yet, but based on the screenshots...
If I figured out the scenes correctly, isn't there a major plot twist/cliffhanger point between 14:10 and 14:32? If so, why isn't anyone discussing it, yet? :heh:

Do you think Yakumo knows that Harima likes Tenma now? She noticed Harima smiling so genuinely when he was alone with Tenma. Did she look a little downcast when she told him he didn't have to be so polite in front of her after seeing how he could be himself in front of Tenma? I am leaning towards the fact that she really does like him romantically, which would be a sad tale because she would never convey those feelings directly and Harima would never know. Also she says something along the lines of, "just this is enough, I just want to help Harima". Perhaps she's afraid of getting closer to him because she's unsure of his feelings? It's depressing that this is the last onigiri episode, Yakumo is a really caring character and it's sad to see her unable to get what she wants.

aw hellll naaaaah.............they need at least couple more episode before onigiri arc come to a closure. it's way too short for it to end like this. we all need more misunderstandings from yakumo-harima relationship.
I hope there's more of them in the future episode. make it a filler or OVA....but I want more. Don't get me wrong, I do support harima - eri pairing 100 percent. but after this episode, i feel like i wanna see a little more development between him and yakumo.

As for this ep, sweet ep. Another onigiri treat. But WTF is the deal with Eri chan and luggage!! I love her comments about Harima's manga. Also Tenma quizzes, too good. Miko chan dressed as Tenma was whoa--Miko really brings the ecchi, that song that plays for her is the best though. I do feel a little bad for Yakumo since she's a good character but lacking in assertiveness. I wonder what will be her fate...everyone's, come to think of it. Last few eps have swung the focus back to the major characters, good thing the makers got the hint. And there's a large arsenal of extra characters to bring in whenever now for small stints.
Not to get off topic, but I finished Haruhi Suzumiya earlier today and then this ep shortly after, so I had the chance to compare them side to side. It was clear why I like SR so much more. Enjoyability of SR is just so high. I find SR not only good but hella fun.

Makes me feel why Yakumo feels at ease with Harima, he looks like his dad. But her feelings are developing slowly, yet surely for Harima, but this might be the last of onigiri and odou path pairing.

It's extremely important turning point in the series, but people seem to have glossed it over.
Eri's parents want her to return to England, for a reason that will be disclosed next episode. Eri is planning on leaving without telling anyone.
This is linked to the reason why she's been feeling down for the past few episodes.
It's funny how accurate Eri was in her assessment of Harima's primary weakness. :heh:
In terms of their respective strengths and weaknesses, those two compliment each other's personalities perfectly.
This episode definite rank high on my list! Too bad the anime is catching to the manga soon and i am afraid we might see some fillers....

Episode#15 is very enjoyable, I'm glad the limelight is back once more on the main characters.
The next episode seems to have win written all over it. I'm anticipating the classic School Rumble misunderstanding that will result in Harima being viewed as a monkey again. :)
On a sidenote, Harima sure recovered very fast in this episode when he got shot by Tenma's bullet of misunderstanding.

She doesn't have romantic feelings for Harima, at present. There's a lot of innuendo going around, but no proof. If and when you establish these feelings as fact, then you can go back and interpret all of these scenes as evidence of a budding love affair.
The next episode seems to have win written all over it.

It's funny how accurate Eri was in her assessment of Harima's primary weakness. :heh:Which weakness was that? The spooky scene at the end of this ep creeped me out. I forgot about the Yakumo and her dad part...I wonder if anything will come of that; parents are pretty much ignored entirely in many series. The Eri and luggage part definitely seemed very significant though. I was wondering if I may have to stop watching SR soon!

@Swampstorm ~ actually theres is an instance in this ep that shows yakumo beginning to show feelings for harima...its the part where she arrives home with ink and sees him smiling with tenma...i can see that she also wants to make harima smile like that but somehow she feels that she cnt get close to harima...this is shown in the sentence "there's no need to be so polite" when harima thanks her...i think she wants to be close to harima as a friend rather than being like a formal partner :p

Onigiri isn't completely over because in the manga there's still the moments during new years's and valentine's day. It just won't be in the spotlight anymore unless the manga goes back to more onigiri.

Wow, this definitely was an awesome episode. Tenma was actually enjoyable to watch this episode and totally cracked me up.
As for always knocking down any comments concerning Yakumo's feelings for Harima, please stop; you don't see us degrading your Eri comments. Yakumo obviously has feelings for him, but it is a matter of where those feelings are heading, as either a close friend or a lover. Girls in real life will often seek out guys who are like their father, and in this episode, Harima reminded Yakumo of her father. Yakumo always wants to support Harima anyway she can, and definitely cares about his happiness more than hers. Isn't that one of the basic rules of true love? Anyway, we know this is probably going to be the last Onigiri episode this season, so lets enjoy it. The depth and compassion that is shown of Yakumo in this episode just make you want to love her that much more. She is truly a wonderful character.
As for Eri, it looks like it is going to get a lot more fun watching her development soon. Although, it will interesting to see how they can turn Harima around from Tenma loving to Eri affection.
maybe they should have a showdown between yakumo and eri for the season finale..........and akira be the referee...........
Eri might have more catfight skills, but Yakumo always seems to come out on top when they battle head to head. Therefore, I do not think it would be fair for the storyline if it is moving towards Eri.

True, that was pretty insecure. Such a self pitying comment.
As for knocking down Yakumo, who cares. It's ppl's right. Not that I care to do it. Eri can just as well be knocked down. Also if Yakumo is that big on being less formal, she maybe should first consider changing from Harima-san to Harima-kun like Tenma does. Btw...is it considered a significant event in Japan when honorific is changed? I imagine it's awkward.

i don't think its awkard, just amusing i think, because it could change in a flash, and people in a developing relationship probably won't notice until someone outside of them does, and then it all goes pear shaped. :)
when you call a strange by kun, it is an affectionate term, from someone older to you, or to someone consider a friend.
Its like grabbing someone and start calling them "Icky" when their name is actually "nicky". same sort of situation i think.

Yea, theres a good example of it in uhhh Lamune forget which episode but an early one. It's an awkward thing sometimes, especially if folk have been addressing one another the same for years. (As is the case in the noted example)
I also think the "parents" factor to SR is interesting too. Little is ever said on many characters family life. The manga has tons of life if it ever wanted to go in that direction I think. There was one future chapter or b(?) one that had a story on the Tsukamoto sisters in their youth. But anyhow for pretty much everyone in SR the family life, parents aren't disclosed... Some exceptions I would say are Eri, Mikoto, and Lala... maybe others I think.

Now the next "arc" is when things start to get really good in School Rumble.
Those who don't know it yet, from this point on things are going to get very very interesting, probably the best part of them all (even thought i'm not a fan of a particular flag).
I'm surprised episode 15 has got this far (towards the end of V12) now that just makes me wonder whether 2nd term will finish just on or a thew chapters after V12, give or take a thew B chapters. It would be great if most of V13 gets covered too.

But as always i feel soooooooooooooooooooooo sorry for Harima can we say misunderstanding (AGAIN) i forsee monkey in his future. i am now torn though between the HarimaXEri ending and the HarimaXYakumo i dont support the Tenma ending it just doesnt sit well with me. its very obvious that Yakumo has feelings for Harima but has she caught on about Tenma? i really want to see a Yakumo Vs. It will be sad to see anyone disappointed. Disappointing to see disappointment. Hopefully things will all work out. Being SR I think somehow they will. Not sure how though. As for showdown, Eri owned Yakumo at the rave. A real chewing out. Yakumo would have to summon hulk to have a chance of winning, that timidity cannot likely lead to victory.

IT was the part where tenma wanna run several tests on harima based on her friends' msg (more like opinion) on her phone. The cockroach thing was the test if harima will protect yakumo fromm harm or not....and if he will use violence to solve the problem. It was the idea from karin.
The last part of this episode really cracks me up. wall crawling tenma is superrrr creeepy yet hilarious at the same time. It sorta like the girl from movie "the grudge". ....I think it was yoko.....or something like that. That was a major LOL.:heh: pooor harima will have a huge misunderstanding coming ahead of him. but hilarious misunderstandings are all school rumble is about.
I really can't wait to see the next episode.....even though i have to dl the raw first......

It was great how Harima aced all of the tests, was there every any doubt? I'm sure cockroach thing was some spoof--usually when outlandish scenes happen in SR they're spoofs, like the card scene early this season. Grudge I didn't see but that sounds right.

Just change the names to Yakumo and Eri and there you have it!
i see i see so its something like harima mistook that room for tenma's then tenma juz happened to see him sneaking into yakumo's room? and all the crawling tenma(s).. its trying to show that harima has kind of like committed a sin or somewhat? o.o the preview of episode 16 seemed to show even more misunderstandings and confusions lol yes and i do agree that sr is basically all about hilarious misunderstandings.. its these that make people want to and just can't stop watching the series i guess ^^

If we are already well into Manga volume#12 in Episode#15, and if my understanding is correct that Manga volume#13 is the latest one, doesn't that mean School Rumble anime will run out of manga material soon? Would the anime producers have to create new material for a School Rumble Term 3, or wait until enough manga material has accumulated before running School Rumble Term 3?
Sometimes I wish the anime would simply conclude in Term2. It would be torture to wait for Term 3.

Seems like no one mentioned about the significance of the "badge of recognition." Did Yakumo attend the event for herself or was it for Harima? Personally, she is continuously trying to help Harima, while at the same time she tries to improve her impression on Harima. You have to give her credit for supporting Harima 100%. Attending the meeting with the Chief Editor, taking him into her home, going out in the cold winter night to buy him ink, posing for him (NEGLECTING her SISTER), getting the badge of recognition. At this point, I still cant 100% infer that she likes him. My only conclusion is something is developing, and it would be great to see yakumo break out of her shell, though I love her conservative self.:D
I really can't see Eri X Harima. Its just the fact that a rich girl + a delinquent wont work for me. I rather see commoner + commoner; which probably represent the majority who watches this anime. Anyways, Im an odd one out - I want to see Harima with either one of the Tsukamotos, Excuse any grammar mistakes due to my lack of sleep.:eyespin: :eyespin:
hmmm it sure is true that as the episodes progress, yakumo seems to be doing more and more things for harima though there still isn't any hint or clue to suggest that she has feelings for him clearly..omg and is it true that eri is leaving for england (for good)? that can't be right? because she's definitely one of the main characters in the series T.T

^ rofl cya bye bye :D actually ill do the same if yakumo just disappears >.<
for all the eri fans out there, lets just hope that its because of some matters that she has to attend to that she has to go to england lol.. it wouldn't be that much of an enjoyment to watch anymore if any of the main characters were to just suddenly disappear X_x

yea thats true, the producers wont take that kind of risk. Eri and Yakumo became pretty popular, even more popular than Tenma. For this episode, Yakumo may seem emotionless, but her actions speak for itself. There is love in this episode, but not expressed by words or sexual interaction, but by support, care, and actions.

I think the single most convincing fact is that she chose to pose for Harima consequently neglecting a hungry Tenma who is supposed to be the person Yakumo ultimately cares for more than anything in her world.

^ thats another thing i missed out...yakumo will help harima rather than feed her sister (the person most important to her) is another tip that she has feelings for harima...
The thing I don't understand is why Eri is so popular in the Japanese polls. Yes, she has an interesting personality but she's also half-gaijin. I always thought that Japanese audiences preferred characters that were like them, you know, Japanese.
I would prefer if Harmia ended up with Yakumo or even Tenma but Eri? She comes off as really bitchy to me. I think though, judging from the manga that School Rumble is too light of a romantic comedy to have any real pairings. I think School Rumble (both manga and anime) will just end with an ambiguous ending. You know, the imagine your own conclusion ending like Tenchi or Hand Maid May or other multiple pairings shows.
The show doesn't even have a plot so in my opinion that rules School Rumble out as being a conclusive love story.

As much as I like Eri, I too have been puzzled over some of those things and mentioned it in other nearby threads. Good points on ambiguous ending like those series or Maburaho. I adored HMM so I wouldn't mind SR following a similar path. It avoids total satisfaction but also disappointment.
Eri is kind of bitchy, but I tend to like such characters (in girls) bc their humor has more wit and it's cool seeing their different sides. Harima and Eri both have different sides, whereas lots of other chars only have one face they present.
True, SR though likeable doesn't seem to have much of a central plot other than interactions between characters and what comes out of those. Maybe that will change if things heat up with Eri chan and England and such

wahh... i LOVE episodes with harima and either/both tsukamotos... but man... i really just want more harima x tenma development... ^_^ even though this episode was kind of a one-step-forward-two-steps-back episode, it was still funny as heck!!
i LOVE harima's new high pitched scream! funnnnny!
o.o i was offered a chance to learn japanese at the age of 13 big oh wells i was afraid of the stress of another subject and stuff so i totally screwed that option.. hmmm oh how i regret it now lol about eri though i think they had to have characters with different and i mean very different personalities to make the series seem more 'complete' ^^

This series has really found it's legs and has great momentum right now...It was shaky early-on but SR2 has finally hit it's stride(It actually has started to get really good in the last 3 or 4 eps)...This is perhaps one of the best episodes in both series...I can't remember how many times I rewinded scenes it was so good...It seriously examined the biggest love triangle in the series and still kept the comedy at a high level...I gotta give it to Tenma after this episode...At times I have been shaky on her, but she really shows why she is the main female character in this show..It's because her character is capable of so many different levels of comedy (physical comedy, dumb comedy, chibi-comedy, innocent comedy, creating caricatures of herself and others)...While watching this episode I was thinking to myself if this was real-life Tenma would be like an actress on a skit-comedy show...She exhibits so many different levels of a real comedian on a skit-show..It's just wierd to look at an anime character as if their playing a role (Like all the skits Tenma did in this one, especially when she did her friends on the phone)...I laffed really hard at alot of scenes in this episode and it really felt "right" (Like this is the core of the show's success--episodes like this)...All the subplots with the HUGE Manga editor and Yakumo's true-feelings starting to show, were all played great aswell...This was a terrific episode...and it seems the next episode will continue on the same great dynamic...They even used all the ep-time on the episode instead of the "after-credit" extras like most eps...Eventhough I love some side-characters (The fat horny kid especially^^), I'm looking forward to more of THIS School Rumble...
I think the reason it got good again is because they are focusing on the main characters again (Eri, Yakumo, Tenma, Harima), which makes for more interesting stories than the side characters. If they keep going with what they did this ep, I think SR II would be a great sequel, even though they sort of messed up midway through.

I have a couple of questions about this episode and the previous ones.
1) could somebody remind me why Tenma must not see Harima's face? I saw the season one of school rumble, but it was a while ago and I have forgotten about that part.
2) when did Eri find about Harima's love for Tenma? she seems to know about it in episode 13 but I cannot remember how and when she found out about it.
Btw, I agree this episode was one of the best! I was smiling all the way through. Btw, are there any other similar series that are as good?

1. Harima saved Tenma from some thug long back, and she registered his face. Now he covers it up bc he doesn't want her to recognize for some reason. Esp the eyes, apparently, and the hair to some extent. Thus shades and altered hairdo. With a girl's headband too hehe
2. 13, was that when they went out for Tenma's bday meal? It's said that the costly meal ep where Eri footed the bill for Harima+Tenma and Co. was sort of an epiphany for her. "Baka".
3. Love Hina! Umm similar...check that Haruhi Suzumiya one, although I think it's overrated and not nearly as entertaining as SR, but ppl seem to like it...fanatically. Some also like Ouran High Host Club but I h8d the few eps I watched. Similar in what way? School life, romance, romantic comedy, comedy? Or you can forget about all that and go with surefire harem and ecchi! There are similar series but not as good, or series as good but not similar--that's what makes this SR! I just watched Mahou Sensei Negima, it's school life but only remotely similar, and not as good. All of these are super recent except Love Hina (best series ever though). Oh you've been here way longer than I have, you should know most of this.

Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu! and Great Teacher Onizuki are some of the best comedies I have seen, although not completely similar. Azumanga Daioh, although not much romance, just comedy school life. Tenshi na Konamaiki, an often overlooked but really good series. Plus the ones Shredder mentioned, are just a few.
As for School Rumble, I found the scene where Yakumo stands up to the giant Chief Editor Gotou Oyama quite cool, but strange. I am not really sure if it is her character to stand up to big bullies, but if she is not afraid of him, then she is not afraid of anything, apparently. I wonder if any other character in School Rumble will be able to do the same. I would imagine they would at least flinch.

Shredder left one important detail out...Upon saving Tenma from the street-thug (inwhich she fainted) Harima placed her in his bed (someones bed) so that she would be safe...He thought she was really cute so he staired at her while she was sleeping...when she woke up she saw Harima hovering over her and thought that he was some kind of perv or worse...So he hides his eyes so she can't remember that moment and place his face as she still has no clue that he saved her...
... Now he covers it up bc he doesn't want her to recognize for some reason.
The reason why he doesn't want her to know at all costs is he thinks that Tenma will get scared maybe even hate him and stay away from him for good therefore he will never get a chance with her.
It's because of the misunderstanding of the situation when he saved her, she fainted and he took her to his place. While she was sleeping he was trying to wake her up but then Tenma shouted out she "loves someone" in her sleep and grabs Harima and he ended on top of her. When she woke up to see him on top of her she mistook Harima for a pervert or even worse.
When Tenma see's Harima's face it reminds her of something really bad happened in her past but she just can't completely remember. Saying that thought when she over heard Harima talk about the whole situation to his cousin Tenma said that it was "the girl's" fault.
2) when did Eri find about Harima's love for Tenma? she seems to know about it in episode 13 but I cannot remember how and when she found out about it.
She doesn't know, it just looks like it. The reason why i know is i'm reading the manga.
i agree with what thundrakkon pointed out about the episode too.. the fact that only yakumo was able to stand up to the chief editor while the rest of the people including harima were scared stiff o.0 wonder why yakumo tend to stutter and be indecisive at times

OK thanks. Yeah, I've seen Love Hina but not the others. I also heard that Fruit Basket was very good?
Is still don't understand point 2 but I guess it will clearer as the series advances or maybe I should just read the manga.

Fruits Basket's excellent and deals with school, but it has equal doses of comedy and drama. Much more serious than SR. Still highly recommended. It's considered a girly series but plenty of guys like it. It's from the same time as Love Hina. Manga, curiously, is still ongoing for it.
2's a lot more complex than 1 to answer. Dunno if anyone can say for 100% sure.
