We've noticed lately that this forum has slowed down a bit in viewership, and some of the Episode threads are rather quiet. While many of us still watch and love this series, the discussion has waned enough that we feel a weekly thread dedicated to each episode is unnecessary. This thread will serve as a discussion point for Episodes 17 to the End of the series (24 or 26?).
All the other episodes, 1 - 16, already have their own threads and discussion for those episodes can continue on in their respective thread.

Saw episode 17...
Hild, why the heck does her voice sound so familiar...Sara Takashima, the name sounds familiar too.
Anyway, too bad this was the end of Urd's Goddess/Demon swapping dual-personality...I kinda liked them both.
But with this arc over, if they ever do the Peorth/Velspar arc, I wonder how they are going to fix it?
And next episode...already the pot episode (+ anime original seducing Belldandy)?
Man they really are jumping all over...tho if that means more Urd/Hild, good for me.

I'd say episode 17 was nice, though I'd like to see the original version animated. But Hild - Hild was great! The real Daimokaicho, incredibly scary and incredibly sweet at the same time. Also the art was pretty good. I have a small comparison with manga in my LJ, if someone is interested, the link is in my signature.

Saw episode 17.
Hild, now there's someone worthy of the title "demon". Despite her dainty demeanor, it does not hide nor diminish her seasoned and strong malevolence that Marller is so lacking. Marller was basically cowering the whole episode. Heh heh, hiding behind K1. Cute. While I figured it was inevitable that they would return Urd to normal, but I was hoping Urd would stay divided for a few episodes to take advantage of its comedic opportunities. Oh well. Hild is voiced by Takashima Gara (not Sara), who already voiced her in one game (remember, we are talking about japanese voice acting: an original voice must be kept if it is possible).
Her most recent "popular" role is Kisaki Eri, Mouri Ran's mother in Detective Conan among a few others.

Kid Hild debut!
Marller...I'm really, really starting to feel sorry for you *tears*...good luck as the convinience store manager.
But the more and more I'm watching this, considering the way this series is going, I'm assuming that the final big arc is the Angel Eater arc.
I mean, Lind is there, Peorth appeared, and Hild is there...with the way the show is going toward the Heaven/Hell relation episodes, it just makes sense that way and will explain why Hild appeared so early.
Next episode: Ninja Masters! :D

I've been saying i think the final arc is gonna be the Angel Eater one for along time. But people seem to be leaning toward the Queen Sayoko arc, which I doubt will be the season closer.
So you are speculating cool mint and spear mint arc since they are essential to the angel eater arc.
So far cool mint and spear mint didnt appear in the ED theme. But i would like to have that arc. Also keiichi parents arc will definitely be there.

Saw episode 18.
This episode was pretty funny. Urd breaks the reality to Marller that has been agonizingly obvious: she has no talent as a demon. Ouch. Which leads me to ask, how the heck did a person like Marller get to be a first class demon? A demon that works at a convenience store and cries nonetheless? But that's okay Marller, you're still the most endearing demon I know. And I wonder what was the thing that Megumi thinks is the cutest? It was never explicitly shown what it is. Hmm...
I have been hopeing they would run the welsper Arc this season as it is to me one of the most intersting arcs explaining how heaven and hell basicly are able to co exist with out open warfare between the 2, but I don't see it happening since hild's intro in the manga was because of what happen in that arc.

Seems like the series has gotten really interesting since I stopped watching. Bell tells K1 she loves him, Skuld gets her angel (is that right?), Evil Miss Urd, and there's a kiss coming up (so i hear). I assume its the long awaited Bell x K1 kiss?
Interesting indeed. Especially if Im right about the Bell x K1 kiss.

You know, I have this very strong suspicion that I'm the only guy who's watching the anime this diligently that haven't read the manga. All these manga spoilers and expectations are just making me go :confused: . It's a strange feeling of being left out, but not that I'm denouncing it or saying to stop it. Continue manga discussions as you guys wish. Oh well, the only thing I can do is just give my thoughts as a manga virgin on the episodes. And I just saw episode 19.
When mini-ninjamasters strike K1&Belldandy&Co. Another Marller's scheme to trouble K1&Goddess company, but of course as expected it fails in the end as the three miceketeers are converted one by one to the good side. K1 says "it feels just like in a manga" when he and Belldandy accidentally touch each other's hand. Heh heh, your words are truer than you think K1. So, are Kodama, Hikari, and Senrigan going to be a permanent part of the cast now? Although I think their usefulness and appearence will only be occasional at best. And it's going to be harder for Belldandy to protect K1 now that her goddess license is suspended for breaking the limiter thingy. Well at least there's still Urd and Skuld.

Dont worry too much, AMG anime deviate a lot from manga, though the core story is the same. For example episode 19 was taken from volume 8 and episode 20 should be from volume 18. Instead of forgetting to renew her license in volume 18, the anime depicts that Belldandy broke the seal and was suspend and then they continue with the story in volume 18.
If you cross-reference the anime & manga, it's quite messy. But they have done a decent job linking the anime episode their own way, rather than sticking to the story line as setup in the manga.

Don't worry you aren't the only one like that. The people that are anime watchers only just comment less because the subs are so slow sometimes. Most people commenting on the raws are english-only speakers who only know what's going on because they've read the manga.

Unfortunately, the TV broadcast (TBS, BS-i) for Aa Megamisama Sorezore no Tsubasa will end at episode 22, as confirmed by Inoue Kikuko (Belldandy) herself at the TBS Festa, where TBS will air the previously unaired episodes 25 and 26 from the first season DVD on September 21 and 28 to fill the timeslot.
This is strange considering that xxxHOLiC, airing back to back on TBS, will fully complete its 24 episode run.
Since the AMG second season DVD release has been announced as 8 volumes (with 3 episodes each), I suppose they will make DVD proprietary episodes just like the first season, albeit as a sidestory.
My prediction is that Sorezore no Tsubasa will end up with a Keiichi x Bell closure, although any further announcements of the Megami-sama franchise is welcome.

Would it be likely at all that a 3rd season would arise? I'm hoping so, since it's a shame that the manga has so much left to cover.

I don't know much about the production companies in Japan but it would seem like it would depend on the ratings wouldn't it? I know that when they made the first series and ended it after 6 episodes a lot of people kind of second guessed it, and thought that there should be a longer animie series. Then this one eventually happened. I really think because of the popularity of the series that if they don't do a third season, they will regret it in 2 or 3 years, come back and do it then. EIther that, or they will start over again.

In this case, the broadcasting station is usually not included in the production.
TBS is actively involved in contributing to production of late night anime, the AMG series included, but ratings are not a determining factor for the termination of a late night show, or the basis of a sequel for the following reasons:
1. average station ratings are tabulated between the time frames of 6 AM-12AM
2. late night anime are catered to their delineative targeted audience
3. time-shifting, in timer-recorded VCRs or DVD recorders, is not counted
Here are the referential ratings for both AMG seasons (second row is the first series, bottom row is the second series as of ep 17) by episode count:

That sound about right too me. In the end, it's about money. What I wish they would do is take this series and put on the back burner for a year or two because i'm telling you, by then people will need an ah my goddess fix. Ratings and dvd sales would go back up to season 1 numbers.

AMG is actually MORE popular in the states than in Japan, soo..if this aired on tv here, I bet we'd have 5+ seasons,but sadly it's abit more of a cult favorite in Japan..

Thanks EggPlant for the insight of how the gears work. That was valuable and appreciated. I'd gotten addicted to AMG half way through season one. Guess if they end at season two I will do like I had to do with Ai Yori Aoshi and get all the mangas.

I'm a bit doubtful on what eggplant said on the number of TBS episodes but we'll see in a month's time.
I was a bit sad when I couldnt find the demon & goddess song in the AMG sorezore no tsubasa OST that I have. There's one more CD which has not been revealed. I'm not sure if they could make another OST album and they had 2 drama CDs already, It shouldnt be a single. Nevertheless, I do hope that the song in episode 17 will be in that "unrevealed" album.
Episode 22 will be an original!!!

If you need concrete evidence, I have personally scanned from the October issue of Newtype Magazine what TBS will be airing on September 21 and 28 for AMG Sorezore no Tsubasa.

I'm a bit behind but must admit Hild is the hottest thing on two legs.
Her interest in K1 had me amused and her request of Belldandy
"can I have him?" and Belldandy's curt but polite "No." had me
laughing.
Face it - she'd eat K1 like an afternoon snack! You can tell she's
sweet at times but a nasty bit of work in others.
I realize the series is ending sooner than it could but I suspect the
fan interest was waning since it does tend to deviate a bit from the
K1/Bel' relationship a little too much. People like to see forward
progress.

That's the end?It didn't feel like one at all.I hope there's a 3rd season so we can see the Whelsper saga.I'd also like to see more races with the auto club,it would be awesome to have the Keichii VS Sora race animated!

The final episode was abit..odd..Here's to hoping the two OVA episodes are REALLY good.
Weird, it looks like the ovas' are from the first season since I have all the 1st season DVDs.

They are going to show S1 OVAs on TV instead of making eps 23 and 24 for this season. And then there will be two new episodes which will be available only on DVD.
And the episode 22 was horrible, I'd say.

Why in the world did they do 2-3 filler-like episodes if it was 22 episodes? They shouldve gotten to the nitty gritty of it all. Thats part of the reason why interest drops. The xmas episode didnt have to be done (although it wasnt filler). The motor club founder episode couldve been skipped as well. '
The nitty gritty episodes are the starting episode, Sayoko, Peroth, Skulds story, Devil Urd, Hild, and whatever is next having to do with K1+Bell lovey dovey stuff. Skipping the boring fluff and airing the exciting stuff is the ticket to keeping the series alive, but no....
This isnt just a japan problem either. US producers are also silly. There's a sci-fi show called SG1 that's going to be cancelled. The producers hope to keep it alive. So they do a recap episode and and throw a couple of boring episodes that have squat to do with the main storyline in the mix. Why not just walk into the woods with a rifle and give yourself both barrells? Its easier you know!
Excitment is the key.
AMG is a boy meets girl story so excitment would be tons of K1+Bell lovey dovey stuff, and any Skuld lovey dovey stuff like when she turns into a teen.

Like I've heard there's going to be another X-files movie and instead of
focusing on the mythology (what people want closure with!) they're going
to make it a horror episode. I swear, what gets greenlit boggles my mind.
What should happen:
Keep in mind I'm not a reader of the manga.
(1) We need to see a K1+Bell kiss for real. I swear, K1 has had more kisses
with Urd (3 in the first season alone I think) and he still acts like a scared
teenager. He's a college student. Get a grip man! Either that or have
Bell get some Urd like personality for a day or SOMETHING.
(2) We need to see Urd either make up with Troubadour or move-on and
maybe find someone on earth she's amused with, someone to challenge
her. It would be funny if it was someone who didn't believe she was a
goddess. Lots of possibilities there.
(3) Skuld needs to stop acting like she's 7 - the whole "I want my big
sister all to myself" went from amusing to annoying - she's now a little
easier to deal with (although I did like her confession to K1 a few eps
back due to the seed of love deal....)
OR:
The PREVIEW for this series implicated that Bel was going to go back to
heaven for real and she had limited time. That never seemed to happen.
It would have been interesting to see what K1 would have done if this
played out - if you were in K1's shoes wouldn't you go all out to try and
get her to stay.
I like the show but it frustrates me too. I get the feeling the Manga-ka
is stuck (but then I hear there's 140 volumes of this stuff, Keiichi Morisato
and his unbelievable hot platonic girlfriends).

The thing is, I thought the show was moreso about problems that encounter K1/Belldandy's relationship, but every episode after the Peorth arc feels pretty out of place (apart from specific Skuld eps, ala with Sentaro and Noble Scarlet.)
was i the only one that didn't get a thing of what was happening on eps. 22?
what happened there? alternate universe? back to the past?
anyway... seeing Urd vs. Hild (of course Urd got her ass *** ) was priceless...
any comments about what the hell happened there would be appreciated!

I must admit the way the anime showed hild's character was really hilarious. The way she acted all dramatic jus made me lmao :D

Those devil rats & the (american?) tourists were the only "funny" thing happenning and

Hild changed Keiichi history and thus making them lovers. Belldandy had to wrap herself back to 5 years ago to regain Keiichi's interest in her. The story was kinda "crap" and hard to follow as well as swallow.
Didnt know that season 2 would end this way.... so disappointed. Well, at least the last smile that Belldandy gave was worth watching.

Like I've heard there's going to be another X-files movie and instead of
focusing on the mythology (what people want closure with!) they're going
to make it a horror episode. I swear, what gets greenlit boggles my mind.
What should happen:
Keep in mind I'm not a reader of the manga.
(1) We need to see a K1+Bell kiss for real. I swear, K1 has had more kisses
with Urd (3 in the first season alone I think) and he still acts like a scared
teenager. He's a college student. Get a grip man! Either that or have
Bell get some Urd like personality for a day or SOMETHING.
(2) We need to see Urd either make up with Troubadour or move-on and
maybe find someone on earth she's amused with, someone to challenge
her. It would be funny if it was someone who didn't believe she was a
goddess. Lots of possibilities there.
(3) Skuld needs to stop acting like she's 7 - the whole "I want my big
sister all to myself" went from amusing to annoying - she's now a little
easier to deal with (although I did like her confession to K1 a few eps
back due to the seed of love deal....)
OR:
The PREVIEW for this series implicated that Bel was going to go back to
heaven for real and she had limited time. That never seemed to happen.
It would have been interesting to see what K1 would have done if this
played out - if you were in K1's shoes wouldn't you go all out to try and
get her to stay.
I like the show but it frustrates me too. I get the feeling the Manga-ka
is stuck (but then I hear there's 140 volumes of this stuff, Keiichi Morisato
and his unbelievable hot platonic girlfriends).
Ack.
1- Yes a Bell+K1 kiss is a MUST. They must show the relationship move forward and Bell+K1 acting more like a real gf & bf.

3-agree. Plus her relationship with keitaro (?) should move forward propelling her into teenagehood. Which should change her childlike personality and bring forth a lot of teenage angst like in the manga (so Ive heard).
The subs arent out and as a result Im 4eps behind. So I havent seen the ending. It hurts me to think that what you say is true. Talk about ruining something. Especially something that probably wont have a Season 3 to fix it.

"The Who"? "Pete" (guitarist Pete Townshend) (and the fansub called the
singer "Rodney" when it should have been "Roger"). I figured Marller would
have been dancing all over the place since she can't resist dancing to rock -
it was a missed opportunity - the smashing of the instruments clinched it -
it was The Who without a doubt. British rock band of the 1960s.
Some other funny things "the relationship hasn't progressed past elementary

Yea the K1+Bell "relationship not beyond elementry school level" thing is more true than funny. Two more episodes to go so I doubt there will be a k1+bell kiss. Very lame. Especially if there wont be any more AMG.
Heck I bet they havent even kissed in the manga yet. Or if they did, its a peck in the cheek. The reason for my obsession over the darn "kiss" is that its a progression marker. A date is the 1st marker. More than 3 dates is another marker. Kiss is the 3rd marker. Umm.... and "this and that" is the ultimate marker. Yet they are a "live-in" couple which is bigger than Markers #2, and even 3 becuase it should come later. Bell aslo confessed which is bigger than Markers 1 and 2. What the hell?!

In the Gate Arc, after Peorth, Urd and Skuld have recovered from being frenched by The Gate (which is a she), Skuld mentions that she hasn't kissed Sentaro like that before.
ANd I should've clarified... I think Bell and Kei kissed for quite a few moments, not just a simple kiss.

If you're talking manga, Keiichi by far. Bell is very open emotionally about how she feels about him, and all the intentional physical intimacy was initiated by her.
First kiss, btw, was in chapter 11, but was an accident. Incidentally, the lead up to that kiss was animated and included in the opening for the OAVs. First intentional mouth to mouth, was in chapter 18.

she even got more intimate with K1 than Bel' does! To the point where
Urd was concerned that she might take K1 away from Bel'. Of course,
Bel' was not concerned at all but being that she was transformed to the
size of a small cell phone for most of the two OVAs this allowed for K1
to be pretty much available to Skuld for most of the episode. At least
we know what kind of guy she favors. Interesting. She sees the same
qualities that Bel' does.
It's almost like this show constantly sees K1 in the arms of everyone
BUT Belldandy. Maybe that's the idea.

Hmm.. Well key moments (or markers as I call them) are the key to the success or failure of the series. They didnt do enough. I will have to read the manga cus the series is obviously dead due to incompetence. Ive only read a few chapters of the manga, but ill have to catch up.

Episode 21: YES!!!!! It begins.
Not a bad idea but the whole episode was a big set-up in a way.
Belldandy as demon? Doesn't really work. Her half-hearted efforts
to be bad were funny although I must admit I like her sunglasses
look. BUT......
My idea that "Hild goes for Keiichi" starts to become true. I can't
wait to see 22.
The ending was sort of a stunner....

Finished watching the 2nd season overall it was a great season much better then the first season. Even if episode 22 was filler I liked it hell that episode is better then the stuff that the manga has been putting out lately. I rate the season 9/10.
Anyways I get the feeling that there be OVA's made episode 22 didn't really feel like an ending per say. They still haven't shown you know who's parents in the anime other then in the ED theme.
Here's hoping for a third season to be made there's still a whole bunch of manga material to use for another whole season. :)
Edit: It does look like there be two more episodes made like they did last season but will be on DVD.

In ep22 Hild wins over K1 by going back in time to his High School years. Bell and the gang have to go back in time to win his heart. In the surface it appears Hild is after K1, but the real purpose is to make Bell go bad.
Not a bad episode although it was a teaser. Bell didnt really confess. Although she had confessed in one of the Peroth episodes, there was no smooch or anything which wouldve been great for an ending. Perhaps episodes 23-24? I sure hope so. If theres not gonna be a season 3 they gotta do the smooch scene for some closure to the series.
Well, finally saw episode 22 of S2 and talk about a let down. Yeesh, this one episode drops the TV series a notch, especially when compared to the manga, where Bell has no problems stating her feelings for Keiichi or fighting for him. It was kinda cool though to see Hild play a larger role. I still wanted more Peorth and Lind, but that probably won't happen unless the angel eater story arc ever gets animated.
If Keiichi's parents do show up, who would be the fourth mahjong player seeing as Peorth isn't living with Bell and Keiichi?

The timeline returned to normal immediately after the goddesses returned to their correct time. If you watch the episode again, you'll notice that Keiichi doesn't remember what he was doing right after Bell leaves, meaning that nothing has changed. It's one of those problems that always crops up when writers mess with time travel. More often than not it becomes a convoluted mess with a ton of unanswered questions.
Now I will have to check the manga out. A jealous Bel' I have to see.
The incident with Skuld is actually one of Bell's more subdued jealous reactions, although the fact that Skuld calls Bell on it is pretty funny. If you really want to see a jealous Bell, you should check out the last couple of story arcs. There is one where Keiichi gets abducted by some sea people (kinda like mermaids, but a little different) that really gets Bell fired up.

Well, there will be two more episodes on DVD only. Also you can read manga (if you haven't yet) to get more AMG stories.

Well, the Hild episode that ended the TV season two was nice - we
did see a very jealous Bel' (I liked her lightning bolt zap effect) but I
am afraid Hild didn't do quite as much as I was hoping.
It really was a way for her to try and make Bel' go bad. It wasn't
nearly as threatening as when she first showed him and asked her
pointedly "can I have him?" and they tossed the spade/hearts around.
It would have been more interesting if she actually was
interested in him - it would have been harder for them to
get him back.
And yes, Bel' should have confessed but was either too
frightened to or kept getting interrupted by Hild.
I enjoyed it, it was kind of funny to go back to K1's high
school days.
so 22 is the last episode?.......... that really does bring tears to my eyes im not even gonna lie.... i love ah! my goddess so much and that was not the best way to end it. it wasnt a dramatic ending for bell and K at all...

Oh I hope this show did well and they pick up a 3rd season. I just finished watching all the episodes. It follows the manga fairly well. Probably won't happen until next fall though.

Somehow i think this series isnt going where we want it to at all..at all....at all...you get it.
1. Definitely agree here. We need to see this happen. He clearly has more intimate times with Urd. And he acts like hes still in an elementary school relationship! How old is Belldandy....21 right? Keiichi is that age too i bet. I know he has a ton of respect for Belldandy to not want to rush the relationship, but if she asks you if you want your back washed, say YES for crying out loud! Dont run out like a pansy! She likes you, you like her. There shouldnt be this whole insecurity deal going on!!!
2. and 3. I want both of them to move on as well. Urd is cool and all, trying to get Bel and K1 together, but it's clearly up to them more. This is where i wish K1 and Bel were more forward like in the OAV series. Bel didnt even think twice to kiss K1 when he was under love potion influence. And K1 actually tried to make moves too. And clearly Skuld should just leave the whole picture. Go back to Heaven and meat a 'god' or something. Youre not doing anything for the relationship and you keep ruining it between Bel and K1.
I understand your pain aliensporebomb. The story is lovely...but it's really frustrating. Im going to get so mad to the point where i rewrite the whole thing in novel form soon!!! (im too lazy to do that, but i feel like it the way this whole thing is going).

I cant believe their the same as before...makes me so mad. The OAV and the movie had 1000000000X more relationship/character progress than the manga. What was the author even thinking!? He could have spent less time dragging the whole thing out with no relationship/concrete story progression, and made like an epic series that was filled with lots of original relevant stuff that the real fans/readers/viewers want to see. Heck, i bet we could just rewrite the story in good old novel format and made it really cool than what it took him 20 years to do (which is get nowhere and disappoint the fans).

forward momentum.
People tend to write what they know. And if you don't know about
relationships and how they work, you can only guess.
It's not as far fetched as one might think - I know a guy who just
turned 40 and he's never really had a girlfriend or dated much at
all - I get the feeling that Fujishima might be that kind of person.
I still look forward with hope for the story but sometimes we have
to make it up in our heads maybe.
Ehhh. It's his story he can end it however he wants. Besides, I don't think there are any couples in the entire world that have a relationship anywhere like Bell and K1's. Seriously, there's just no way. But he can definitely think of just some happy ending and have it all be the end of the story.

Yeah, back in season 1, the director said he wanted to animate all of the manga, but that didn't mean that there was definitely going to be more back then. Even after he said that, nobody knew that there would be a season 2, until it was announced by the production company. Given the ratings drop from season 1 to 2, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there wasn't a third season. This show is different from Inuyasha because everyone knew that Sunrise would keep pumping out the episodes until they announced that it was over. A!MG was a show that the production company was taking the, "let's see how well it does, and if it does well, we'll make more" type of stance.

I've heard no announcements for season 3, or even anime for next year
except one which is the second season of Higurashi and that was only
yesterday.
My guess? They'll do something. But I imagine how urgently they do this
will be largely based on how dvd sales go.
Currently, the box set of the first season DVDs goes for around $105 USD
at the local Best Buy store.
After having some time to reflect, season two was good - but they spent a
lot of time deviating from the plot to bring up other things.
Which sort of reminds me of season two of School Rumble. And we know
a season three is coming out for that show so perhaps we can infer from
the lack of conclusion here that perhaps there will be something done for
this show eventually.

I've heard no announcements for season 3, or even anime for next year
except one which is the second season of Higurashi and that was only
yesterday.
My guess? They'll do something. But I imagine how urgently they do this
will be largely based on how dvd sales go.

If they don't do a third season they might consider doing several OVA episodes because the DVD sells have been pretty good.

i just want to know whether any of u need any information of how to get the manga. i will be really happy to help any of u that is interested as long as i can do it. and for the ones who has only watched the anime, maybe u will be interested in reading the manga also. the manga and the anime is completing each other (not mentioning several minor changes^^). PM me, and let me know of what u need and i will gladly help as much as i can.
and as for season 3, i am one of the people that will patiently waiting ^^ as long as if there are possibilities of the season 3 to be made and aired.
Personally, I dont find episode 22 to be that bad. In fact, if there is going to be a season 3, I think that it's a pretty good ending to season 2. (If there isn't going to be a seaon 3, however...)
Hi ppl, any idea where to get the AMG pvc figurines? Its so hard to find & i only own 2 belldandy so far. :confused:
new one or old ones. The more recent one is belldandy casual figure from kotobukiya. there's new pvc for urd, either resin or pvc. Older figures are harder to find but a search online or ebay might work, though no gurantee.
