Any particular reason why this episode's thread is two days early?
Hmm, I want some light to Karura's indentity. From the preview it looks like it is Karura episode.

Any particular reason why this episode's thread is two days early?Yes. It's early so you can "discuss your expectations of the episode if not aired." (see the first post) And it hasn't aired. Yet. Soooooooooooooo.....feel free to air out your desires for the next episode. Maybe even some guesses as to which way the clock will tick. What you'd like to see resolved, who is hot and who is not, etc, etc, etc...
You're very welcome. Cheers. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Mousefinger/Misc/catgirl.gif
^ Well, thank you very much! :heh:
Eh, like Kensuke I hope to see more development of Karura in this episode; probably in terms of her history and what made her this way.
Oh yeah.. And this is the 18th episode, so I'd be expecting the start of the final plot arc, possibly in the last few minutes of this episode. Hopefully. Tho it'll mean days of long and worrying waits between episode releases. Plus the indescribably lousy feeling of discovering the fansub release and not being able to do anything atm because you're in school. :(

yah, i hope we're told a bit more about Karura's background..maybe some reason why she told Eruruu that she just forgot about things like what country shes from and all. I think they might introduce the next story arc near the end of the ep, if not throughout the whole thing, too.

I have no idea of the timeline in the first 17 episodes (best guess 10-14 months) but Hakuoro should not be able to afford another war at this point.
I mean, come on! Three conflicts in such a short time should have drained his country's fighting-age manpower by at least 50% especially that gruelling last one.
Yes. It's early so you can "discuss your expectations of the episode if not aired." (see the first post) And it hasn't aired. Yet. Scooooorrreee.
Well let's look at things logically. 9 episodes left. Previews suggest some kind of revolt that may (or may not) revolve around Oboro and Karura. There's obviously two central figures in this new plotline. One guy who uses a black boad-thing as a weapon, the other is a leader.............sitting alone.............TOTALLY stoned! :eyebrow:
My hopes is that they're going to devote 2 (at most, 3) episodes to this arc, then the remainder will focus more on something with a bit of an apocalyptic twist to it. One more general war story, then it's time for the main course.
It feels slightly cliche to me seeing this anime being told section by section. One part is over, then you move on to the next. I would've personally enjoyed something that would carry itself over throughout the entire series, but this is how they did it, and in the end it's really not that bad. But I guess I'm just going through what I had hoped, like everyone else has. :x

Boy this keeps getting better and better, especially as they keep the humor going between all the girls. Plenty of action too, including Urutori using her powers.

Karura Is The Meaning Of Sexy
Just finished watching the silent RAW version of the episode (why do people record w/o the audio? ~_~ ). As I suspected, it is likely to be a two-part substory (or at most, 3 part. I don't see how it can carry itself over more than three episodes). Just wished we could hear what the people were saying. Hopefully other torrents and Yesy will get done with their release in a few days time.
Spoilers b/c the release is less than 24 hours ago:
Wow, you walk into the room seeing that, imagine the devastation Eruruu must've been in the whole evening. It's like walking in when your husband is cheating on you. That's a sucky feeling. I'm curious to know how it was resolved through talk on the caravan.
All in all, an all-harem episode with some new and old people putting the bustamoves on anonymous soldiers. :P I will put further comments and give my overall score later, since it's like watching a silent film where you think the roll got stuck in the machine until their mouths start moving again. ;P
EDIT: Nevermind, the RAW I have actually did have sound. Odd how Video Lan Client (the player I watch 80% of my media in) doesn't play the audio and Movie Player doesn't play the video. It's still annoying to have to run both players simultaneously to get the whole impression so I'm still gonna wait for a better version (or unless someone can assist in rectifying this issue :x ) before I give my entire opinion on it.
I'll say this though:
- What a relief between Hakuoro and Eruruu. :)
- Guess that WASN'T Oboro in the very first shot. Guess this isn't an Oboro-Karura episode after all. JUST Karura (for you fans out there :P ).
- Oh man, the men. Especially Benawi. He's just totally spazzing out. X_x
- The Na Tunk leader not only looks stoned, but talks stoned too!
Benawi's reaction upon seeing them gone = ACE. :D
Yeah, because that means that he's going to take care of all the administration stuff Hakuoro usually does himself... Remember two episodes ago? :D

I remember when hes doing the work when Eruruu were together just as Oboro comes in. he was working then another guy comes in with more and he snaped the ...uh writing thing and the guy jumped and pissed him self(not realy) that was funny as hell :heh:
Yeah, he smashed the pencil when he saw the guy coming in with more admin issues to take care of.
And I forgot to give my mark for this ep. : 10! All because it's a Karura episode and she's by far my favorite character. She's really kind-hearted even though she wants to appear careless & somewhat daydreaming all the time.

One can only sympathize with poor Benawi. Not only did the emperor dump all of the paper-, erm no, sorry, woodwork on him but now he's on an unofficial trip to some war-torn country...but not of his own volition.
Next thing we know he's going to commit sepuku (suicide by using a knife, one horizontal slash in the stomach followed by a vertical one - and you pull your [**R-rated contents**] out) in despair.
Anyway, a 10 for elements that can make me froth at the corner of my lips in expectation. Hope yesy will once again pull out that speedsub thingy. Can't wait.

Summary by Mastress Alita:
Excerpt from Mastress Alita's Summary, Part 09
*Ero Scene*
Late at night, Hakuoro is up in his workroom, thinking about Eruruu's words earlier asking if he wasn't going to help with the situation in Na-Tounku. He hears the sound of Karura's chain as she enters, and he asks her what she needs. She says she'd like to talk a little, so he asks her what it is, and to go ahead. She says it is inelegant to talk about it there, and asks Hakuoro if he will come to her room when he is finished, and she will talk to him then and be most hospitable. She smiles at him and asks if he will come, and her voluptuous smile somehow brings a chill down his backbone. She says she will wait and leaves, and he thinks to himself that somehow he has a bad feeling about this.
Later that night, Hakuoro goes to Karura's room and enters, but doesn't see her as he steps into the room. He asks where she is, and she says "I'm here" and then he finds her out on the porch, leaning back against the railing wearing beautiful robes, with her hair undone and blowing in the breeze, the scent of her perfume tickling his nose. At first he isn't sure who this woman in front of him is, until he comes to realize the unbecoming collar and chain. He asks her if that's really her, and she asks if there is anyone else there. He asks why that appearance, and she says that being hospitable; it is good manners to dress up. She then asks if he dislikes it, and he says no, that it suits her well, though thinks to himself that it is a bit too becoming.
He asks what she wants to talk about, and she says he is an impatient gentleman. She tells him to relax, that she's prepared some rare high-grade sake. He says that they can have it later, first he wants to hear what she has to say, and feeling a bit worried by her unusual pleasant appearance. She says then she will get right to the point, and there is something she wants to ask him. He tells her to go ahead and ask, and she says that with the revolt that has risen in Na-Tounku, she wants him to support the rebel army. He asks her why she is asking such a thing, if it is because they've had similar circumstances as the people of the rebel army, and she says it doesn't matter what he thinks. He says he understands what she is saying, and would do something if it were possible, but that is just not so, because if they antagonize Na-Tounku, then their people will be exposed to the war, and more so, supporting the rebel army would require considerable amounts of provisions to be consumed, which would cause too much pressure on people's livings. He then asks if she is asking him to comply, and she is quiet for a moment, with a lonely, silent smile, and then says that yes, she is asking him to comply. He says he sees, and asks what she will do. She says that she is offering herself over entirely. He asks if for that sake she is selling her body, and she says this is different, this is herself entirely, from one hair to one drop of blood, and her soul. He asks if she understands what she is saying, and she says yes. He calls her a fool, and asks if she'd die then if she were told to die, and she answers if that were the wishes of Master and smiles quietly.
Hakuoro can tells she is being serious, that without a doubt if he told her to die then, she would do so, and wonders why she has made such a decision. He asks her if there is a reason for this, and she is silent. He says that he sees, and that since she has such readiness, then her wish will be granted. She says then that they have come to an agreement, and that a contract is a contract. For such a contract compensation must be paid, and as long as it is for Master's plans, then there is no shame. He understands and says he will agree, though he thinks to himself that it couldn't be helped, though he is worried about such a contract being done, he will consent for the time being.
She laughs and then says therefore, to please let her do this for Master, and then lifts her robe, holding the end of the cloth in her mouth, exposing herself wearing nothing underneath. Hakuoro looks shocked and confused, slowly starting to understand the meaning of this. Karura is quiet, a faint blush coloring her cheeks, and unconsciously he feels his heartbeat jumping, as she is too voluptuous and beautiful, and the blush on her cheeks is lovely. However, at the same time warning resounds somewhere in his mind. He tells himself to keep control, but slowly he feels himself failing. His vision then turns fuzzy, and he smells something and wonders what it is. His brain becomes numb as the sweet perfume scent drifts from Karura, and the smell, like flowers of invitation, causes his staggering body to be drawn towards it. He takes out his penis and pushes it against Karura, while at the same time wondering what he's doing in his mind. She says that it's so soon, but her voice somehow sounds far off.
He goes inside her, swallowed into the already wet interior, which tightens and wriggles around him, and pleasure starts to shoot up his spinal chord. A deep breath leaks from Karura's mouth, where she is still clenching her skirt between her teeth, and then her body shakes slightly. She shuts her eyes and blushes as she trembles inside, and fluid drips from her. She starts panting and says she wants more, and she turns herself around and leans over the railing, exposing herself from the back. Through panted breaths she says she wants to be stained with Master more. He enters her and they rub against each other, and each movement brings a lusty moan from Karura. Driven to the edge, Hakuoro releases into her, and at that moment she lets out a deep moan and her body bends back trembling in her own release.
Hakuoro breaths deeply, recovering his breath, then suddenly his hazy consciousness begins to clear, and he realizes what he was just doing. He starts to panic but is held down by Karura, unable to leave. He starts to say "Karura, this is--" and is cut off by her saying that with this, she is now Master's. He says no, that it was given unreasonably, and she says it wasn't unreasonable, and then asks if it is just that he doesn't need a woman like her, and he says that isn't what he meant. He then asks her what that smell was, that caused that strange haziness, and asks if she didn't use something to manipulate a person's consciousness. She says that such an inelegant thing wasn't done, that she was just wearing perfume from the honey of the Red Emperor Bee (which just happens to cause a strong hallucination effect).
She then says "Master..." and he asks her why she is calling him that. She doesn't really supply an answer and says that she is for her Master, and that his pulsing veins were within her, and her purity was snatched away. He thinks to himself if there was ever such a thing as Karura having purity. She says it has been a long night, yet still Master hasn't stained her enough, and to please do so more and more, causing him to groan before the scene fades to black.

She was bargaining her soul and everything that her being contained for Hakuoro's help in straightening out that Nan-Tunku conflict and oust that puppet leader. In other words, she was compelling him to intervene and free her country.
Good deal, I think.

IIRC He said he'd do what he could but wouldnt commit to war, yet she still did the whole vow thing.
It didnt seem to me like she was offering a quid pro quo, rather she just sortof gifted herself to him and threw herself at his mercy.
(
then procedes to kidnap him the next day, proving all she really wanted was a piece of tail, imo.
Binding and gagging the person you have committed your loyalty too is a bit much...
)
Who was at mercy of who? :heh:
After all, I.M.O. Hakuoro already accepted her terms and would help the rebelion anyway. Was not necessary to Karura to make anything more for him... unless he order her so. And Hakuoro is too much of a gentleman to force her to do something nasty (Heh, force KARURA to do something she doesn't want to? Suuuure. :p ).
Most probably, she herself was wanting to 'do' him. :naughty:
When she failed - thanks to Eruruu - she tried again kidnapping Hakuoro and taking him all to herself to Na-Tunk... but her plans were frustated again. The other girls discovered and went togheter. They're jealous and don't want to let Hakuoro and Karura all alone togheter, maybe?

How come she had to interrupt >< DAMN IT ALL!
Hmm now after reading that text renegade334 linked too i wonder if we'll get to see the Touka washing Hakuoro in the anime (she doesn't even have to be completly naked - actually she musn't be. If the didn't do a naked Karura the must not do a naked Touka :heh: i know should've already heppaned but then again they could throw it in anywhere

yes, i was disappointed in that, but considering that the ero-scene between Eruruu Hakuoro didn't happen in the Anime version, I soppose it make sense they made up after woulds, but I wonder even when Eruruu interupted this one, who to know it didn't continue sometime after that? :p
After all that scene is important to show that Karura has commited her soul & body to Hakuoro, but we have to assume in the anime that this was merely a vow and not literally....
All this de-hentai of the anime can take the fire out of the importance of some of these scenes are to the character development, in my opinion. :eyebrow:

Good episode.
Of course the fan-service was night... maybe a tad underdone. But most of all it had character development on Karura. It also had comedy portions.
Oh and can't forget it showing that all the other girls in his "harem" get jealous so easy.

Well, with every female in his group joining him on this mission I think it is confirmed Dorii and Guura must be male ;). Other than that, good episode, even if it wasn't the greatest I still enjoy this show if only for the atmosphere. Something about it is just thoroughly enjoyable for me. I wonder how this whole conflict will turn out, but I am more interested in the main story that revolves around Hakuoro.

Yesy did it again with its now routine speedsub maneuver...I'm downloading the file from IRC since Tokyo Toshokan is a tad slow...
Looks like we'll now have subs barely 24 hours after the tv airing and raws' releases. I won't complain with that. *drools*
ZOMG?
Other thing...at one moment, Karura says 'The contract I have with Uitsuarunemitea...'
I hope I understood it correctly and it's indeed a reference to every soul in existence being under that almighty god's protection/reign (therefore belonging to him) and not...
Well, if not, then it's the nuclear spoiler of doom. Not gonna say anymore...but I hope my first assumption is the right one.

Here's a little visualization for the narration.
It's hard to believe they're the same person when you see them for the very time in the game.
Heck, I thought they were two different people when I check out the game way before the anime came out.
This episode was great, in my opinion. We final get to check out one of the prominent heroine's story. Kaurura looked lovely in her dress. Magic! We finally get to see some more magic even though it was for only 5 seconds! :)
I just loved the scene where Karura tied up Hakuroro carried him off, which lead to the ladies going on a road trip while leaving all the guys behind in the castle. What a merrier bunch wouldn't you say? :D

I liked this ep quite a bit. Karura's short scene with Hakuro (the way Eruruu just slowly backstepped down the stairs without saying anything was kinda funny too), tying him up and the whole road trip scene with everyone else, then Urutori's magic (reminds me of the demi spell from Final Fantasy) and Karura owning her brother

"I've got three arrows in my spleen you newb!"
LOL!
Yeah, that was one of the best unintentional comedy ever in this series. The other being Eruruu saying that Aruruu regularly drinks hangover cures with honey. Maybe we should start a thread titled, "Say What?"
Lol. Anyhow, nice episode, so Karura is a desposed Queen.. Hmph.. a little cliche. :heh: One thing I still wonder, so does her Brother know who she really is? And I wonder what was her motive at not wanting to retake her title and reveal herself to her brother.
It was very funny the way they all reacted to the "trip", especially Aruruu.. WTH.. she already has an entourage of Yuzuha, Kamyu and Mukuru. And nice to see angel-wing in combat, if only it was just a second.
All in all, a funny episode, some action, and little rare seriousness from Karura.

Next episode seems to promise some drama, though, since it's been christened 'the parting'. One can only extrapolate between who and who...and what type of parting it is. :eyebrow:
@Lost: doesn't seem so since, from what Karura says, his upbringing (or at least his care) was entrusted to that geezer, Katumau. It's possible Derihourai might even have forgotten what his older sister looked like due to their parting ways. So far only Katumau seems to have recognized her for what and who she truly is.
P.S.: did you notice that in barely two episodes Oboro avoided death by food poisoning twice (well, say, intoxication since he doesn't like vegetables)? Hakuoro was right, humans don't die that easily.:heh:

And both times as a direct result of the Twins. ^^

When Katumau saw Karura first he did recognize her but said nothing and had to find her alone to have a chat - leaving Derihourai still in the darkness regarding Karura's true identity. Afterwards, I believe Derihourai was still too shocked by his sister's punch for the implications behind the interaction between Katumau and Karura to fully register. Threfore he couldn't presumably take a hint and realize it was his sister his 'guardian' was talking about.
Last but not least, Katumau said 'Karura-' but didn't say '-sama' so Derihourai shouldn't have known she was someone of noble blood (and related to him, more importantly) or if Katumau was merely talking about the royal family instead of addressing someone. Moreover I guess that his jumbled wits were then too preoccupied with denying Katumau's request to the 'travelling Ankuams' to process the geezer's slip, which was quickly corrected by addressing Hakuoro's group instead of a specific individual. Add to that that he was quite concerned about nursing his injured pride to divert his insulted mind to other topics.
I totally agree with u there!

@Green²: Hmmm...what's more to say is that I could understand her jealousy knowing that in the game the Hakuoro x Eruruu scene preceded Karura's - so her inner turmoil is perfectly foreseeable. Since that sex-charged scene wasn't really of any heavy consequence to the plot (although it'd have been fun to see her drunk) it was shuffled under the carpet in favor for the Karura one, knowing it was a catalyst for the Nan-Tunku trip and a bonus trial for the Eruruu x Hakuoro plot point.

That was a nice episode.
It was hilarious as heck seeing the Mighty Ruler of Tsusukuru Hakuoro-sama all tied up like a sausage and nobody cares, they're just happy about going on a trip, even Touka who had so carefully dissected Hakuoro's fish moments before.
Also it was funny to see the enemy call a retreat after only seeing Karura and Touka. If the rest of the army is this cowardly this arc shouldn't take too long.
One thing I find weird though, they knew they were going into the middle of the battlefield,so why bring Yuzuha?Aruruu can be useful since Mukuru and Gachatara are always with her and Kamyu must have some angel magic too.But why bring a blind sick girl in the middle of a war?
Renegade334
2006-08-02, 09:32
Why bring Yuzuha? Easy - Aruruu simply didn't know they were going to Nan-Tunku and Oboro's opinion on this doesn't matter one whit. However, Urutorii's laxism on this is questionable since she does know where they were headed and the risks such a trip entailed. I guess she simply didn't have the heart to say no and dissuade the other girls, despite her unspoken knowledge of where they were headed. It is all to her honor but in the long run, bringing an ill person to war-torn territories is indeed a debatable point, whether you are benevolent person or not.

But.. but... they haven even "met" yet! How can they part?? :frustrated: It better be misleading :p Anyhow, is it me or is this show getting more predictable? Even Vexx's major spoiler in the previous thread didnt really suprise me.

2006-08-02, 09:45
Hmmm...as in 'departure'...in its depressing meaning? Yes, I lurve pessmistic comments. Predictable? I dunno - however vexx's spoiler is something that can be totally unexpected if you consider how few hints of UM world's true nature can be seen in the show. Only Kamyuu's magic tricks infer that there is more to this universe than meets the eye (magic, etc). Therefore what the aforementioned spoiler implied would look utterly alien if you were truly ensconced in the show's vibes and whatnot - and didn't bother to ponder about tangents or lose yourself in wild conjectures.
But that is for another time since it'll only be discussed in the final eps, where the haze surrounding this world should be dispelled.
However, I wonder if the Nan-Tunku arc will only span two eps seeing that the Derihourai x Suonkasu confrontation will be up for next week...unless it's a frame from ep19's final moments, consequently leaving us hanging on a cliffhanger and the conclusion left for ep 20. That said, the next ep's title, as previously mentioned, sounds somewhat final and foreboding...whatever. Unless, of course, it refers to something completely different from what we were expanding on.
Personally I think that the start of the final plot arc is already overdue. If 19 develops only on this current arc, that will only leave 7 episodes to develop the final, and imo, Main arc - the central core of what this Anime is about. Only 7 episodes. Well, thats scaring me.
When I saw that drunken-baddie-emperor in 18, I was: "Oh crap a new antagonist to occupy another few episodes?"
Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Hakuoro is being P-Whipped into a loser male character in a harem anime, and the trip this was the equivalent of the "Trip/Vacation Episode" to the beach or hotspring where the lead guy goes with all the girls, except they go to wage war instead. :joke:
I won't worry about how they're gonna finish this series. I'll just watch is as ti comes. No point in expecting something that happened in the game cause this isn't one :D

How many story arcs are there going to be after episode 18? Most of the time seems to be spent on Hakuoro and his posse beating up bad guys or enjoying a peaceful downtime after the fighting.
It's getting close to the final 26th episode. I am wondering if the show's creators will allot enough time to address the fact that:
The story takes place in the future, involves genetic manipulation, and there's monster lurking in Hakuoro.
Overall I have been surprised at how much I have been enjoying this series as it progresses. The comedy and slice of peaceful life has been well done and blended with the drama and conflict.
My wish-> More Karura and Touka interaction and scene time. Maybe even a spin-off series with the two of them, kind of like Lethal Weapon/Dirty Pair buddy show.:)

I think some of you really want the twins to be guys, maybe fulfilling some yaoi fantasies?
The two of them are obviously girls, like the scene where they showed them with Oboro, they had female bodies with their boobs covered under the blankets. And another scene, is when the merchant came to the castle for the first time after the revolution ended, the twins were admirering jewelry along with Eruru, and the merchant was saying that theres alot of pretty girls in the kingdom, or somewhere along the lines. The twins didnt join cause they were not apart of his harem, they are Oboro's little cheerleaders, not Hakuro's.
Yeah, this was a great episode Karura really showed her super god strength in this one. And I was disappointed with the changed ero-scene. But, even though Hakuro said otherwise, I think he really did boink her after Eruru left the scene :P

A great episode for Karura, and the return of "YUUUUZUUUHAAAAA!!"
This is the part of the series i've been waiting for since the start, what with Kaura being my fav' character, and imo having the best story out of all the characters. God, I'd almost forget about the "YUUUUZUUUUHAAAA" thing. True this eppy had quite a lot of fun. I really liked the moment Karura drew her sword and smashed it in front of the soldier coming in for his report to Benawi.
Karura is a deep character. She appears so careless (always half-drunk if not completely wherever she is) but on the other hand, she carries a huge burden and does whatever she can to hide it. Except from Hakuoro and most likely Urutorii as well since they seem to know each other quite well.
She remains the most interesting character so far IMO. And the hottest as well. Thanks God.
Sitting at the gang's table would be quite fun. Especially poor Hakuoro giving up on everyone when they give in to their natural habits (Touka thoroughly checking his food, Karura drinking and smashing through the floor...)
Use it or lose it, Eruruu. >=/
Got to wonder, what did Eruruu put in that travel pack of hers... ...perhaps medicine stuff be my guess. Yet for an while there, I was kind of expecting a cat fight between the two.

Urutorii's spell looked like a gravity ball, anyone have any idea what kinda of spells are in Urutorii's arsenal?
She has several diffrent spells.
Spell of Water, Spell of Darkness, Spell of Light... etc.
The Spell of Light is her most powerful spell, and it's more like a kamehame-ha.
(A blast of light that shoots out, in a straight line)
The spell of light is quite devastating spell, and if she can use it in the anime....
well, let's just say she'll be ranked along with Kaura and Touka as one of the most devastating character in Tusukuru :D.
The gravity-based spell she used in the anime is not present in the game.
However, it should be noted that the winged-people of her race do not actually "float" with those wings.
The wings are there to steer them, they actually float in air by controlling gravitational force on their bodies.
Hence, it makes perfect sense that they can use gravitational spells.

lol, I hate when people try to question another's sexuality based on some stupid thing on a TV show :nono: All these hints of them being female are like Kazuki of Get Backers - he was even shown in the female category on one of the endings. I just find it humorous.
You heard him yourself on the caravan. Nothing happened, and he hasn't told a lie yet (maybe bending the truth a little :< ).
10/10, because there are no discernable flaws with this episode. Dialogue was clear-cut, the animation's entirely original (no reused shots), the story is blatant yet entertaining, the humor is well executed (especially benaui's spazzy moment mwahaha), and we got an ecchi moment not seen since episode 5 when Mukkuru pitied Eruruu's breast size. :P
The theme of family is (once again) reminded. In my opinion, this should be the last time we should be reminded about the importance of family sticking together and communicating amongst once another before it becomes redundant. One of the ways to execute good drama is about laying subtle plotpoints and not returning to them until the very end, when the audience has nearly forgotten but is reminded enough so they can go, "ooooooh, it all ties together. Why didn't I see it coming?"
I speculate the look of the throne room. Looks like the hall is full of white flowers to contradict the somewhat dark, almost void-like atmosphere. The only thing you see are the flowers, the gray brick walkway leading to the throne, and the emblem of Na Tunk hanging over a curtain. It'll be like fighting in an almost surreal location. I look foward to it.
really like this new cool side of Karura. also fun to see the Princess powers :).

This episode made me realise that a little more fanservice wouldn't hurt this series. :heh: Looking forward to Touka's bath scene (I hope that they will animate it).
I think that one thing that explains Karura's attitude that she is the strongest character in the show and she knows it, so it is easy for her to be so easy going.

You do know it happens before the trip to Nan-Tunku, don't you? I doubt the staff would indulge itself in showing the multiple ero (not necessarily sexual, mind you - I said, erotic) scenes unless they are extremely important and further the plot. Knowing that the whole ep18 scene was related to Karura's requesting Hakuoro's help on this with her entire being as the price, this specific part of the story was, I suppose, inavoidable.
I can't say the same about the others, though. Knowing that the main 'pairing' (well, if you know the ending and secrets behind the series you might want to reconsider the wording) is Eruruu x Hakuoro and that the sex scene between the two (and another one where her bra shows in front of Hakuoro) is supposed to have happened before Karura's and yet never was animated, there is very little hope for such a thing to happen. Moreover the series seems to aim for a R15-compliant audience so they won't do anything hardcore or too explicit even if it's for the sake of comic relief or fanservice.
Sorry to burst your bubble but I'd have wanted to see that, too. Hormones just can't stop raging at the thought. Oh, well...Mankind was not given imagination for nothing, was it? :heh:

But Hakuro not showing interest in karura simply dosen't cut it... I do hope he is not gay...
It's a shame, that due to the toning down of that important scene that conclusion such as this has to be asked....
I think some people here would also draw conclusion that Kakura was not serious about her words she spoke to Hakuoro and her own character development of the seriousness she feels towards the relationship she is commited to with him.
Not that 'im saying they should put some hentai scenes, but that they needed only to imply it, and the important dialogue.
Very much the same important dialogue they missed out in the Hakuoro x Eruruu intimate scene.
It's a shame and a sad change to the script, at this moment the strength the character bonds with Hakuoro is not solidified at all, with out those scenes it seems...well....uncertain. As if the characters are static and they will remain as they are, incapable of moving forward, showing the progess of there lives and personality.

I think its pretty apparent that the director wants Hakuro to only have eyes for Eruru, and that he wont diverge from that, no matter the temptations. Basically devoted to person he loves the most, even though it somewhat feels that their relationship is barely progressing at all.
It's a shame and a sad change to the script, at this moment the strength the character bonds with Hakuoro is not solidified at all, with out those scenes it seems...well....uncertain. Very good point made! I was looking for that word "solidify".
Currently, the only relationships taken seriously is between Hakuoro and Eruruu, but that's a fairly obvious one. To talk about his relationship between Oboro or Benaui, Urutorii or Touka would be sketchy at best. As I said before, there's not enough time to develop everything, and thus people are going to get the cut and reduced to two-dimensional personalities. Forever? It is difficult to say.
This episode shook me particularly because it is an episode devoted entirely to Karura and who she is/was. Relationships isn't about sex and hentai scenes alone. It's about knowing where people come from, what their hobbies are, what their favorite color is, and the significant other needs to analyze and interpret the facts to make the pairing more stable. There's almost none of that being made in the anime.
Is Touka's airheadedness the result of some failure in her childhood? How did Oboro learn his ninja finesse? What was Kurou's mother and father like? Is there anything Karura is particularly weak to? None of that exists, so pairings become friendships, or in the worst situations, merely aquaintances.
In episode 18, we learn a great deal about Karura. The status of her tribe being an important one, people who are more than those she wants to protect, what she does (or doesn't) value. If we only had more of these, we wouldn't have a problem.
----------------------------------------------------------
I think they implied a significant level of intimacy between Hakuoro and Eruruu in the first half of episode 13. It is a little ambiguous. The conclusion you can pretty much draw is, she's not afraid to touch him. The important thing here is not to judge the anime as "what they left out from the game", but "how did they adapt the story". I will go into heaaaavvyyyyyy details once the series is over.

I think I understand why Eruru is so self-concious about her healing abilities now.
All the other memberrs of the harem have some sortof special power or ability-
mostly superior combat abilities.
All Eruru can do to help is her medicine and healing, so if she's not skillfull at that she might feel she has no right to be around hakuoro, and has no way to compete with or compare to the other girls.

Agreed, it's not about the hentai scenes, thats just taking the mature route, pulling no punches, as long as the significant of scene is what matters.
The status of her tribe being an important one, people who are more than those she wants to protect, what she does (or doesn't) value. If we only had more of these, we wouldn't have a problem.
That's the thing, that very scene between Hakuoro is what defines Kakura, in the game it shows how she was willing to sacrifice everything for something she believes in, but at the same time it blurs the line, as we are left consider that her own feeling was also influencing her to go so far and that in that very instant it maybe that this may not be the traditional way of custom of the confirmation of Master & Slave relationship.
it also shows the cunning-ness of her as well, her ability to judge people and that sheer strength is not what she always use in every situation, she could of over powered him, but instead she went for a very feminine method.
Alas, while i can somewhat understand the highlight of Eruruu, the mere fact that they did not show or imply the closeness that Eruruu & Hakuoro in the previous intimate scene and showed the progress in their relationship, has in result made them both more awkward, the slight confidence they show each other and the fact that Eruruu didn't even knew that had happen, throws new spanners in the works. The failure of those strong scenes is affecting the whole script, it's slowing it down, as they have to attempt to make up for lost progress between them and resolve the new complications.
*sigh*

Oni, just be happy with what you got. Look at Fate/Stay Night and how they handled h-scenes. Even then I don't really remember anyone moaning about how Shiro geting eaten by a proverbial dragon somehow ruined the intricate relationships between the characters.
This was a really good episode, like so many said. Karura is one of my favorite characters in this series, and I am really curious to know how she has supernatural strength. I wonder why her brother doesn't possess it.
I laughed out quite loud at certain parts in the episode. It did interweve plot progression, comedy, action, and drama well. It is funny how "Hakauro's Harem" all just woke up in the middle of the night and went on a road trip to a war torn country, yes. :D
I have liked Eruuruu a lot since the first episodes, but now I really like both her and Karura pretty evenly. I already liked Karura since her first appearance in the series, but seeing more depth to her character and the scene with her being all nice and voluptuous have me liking her even more. I really like the tough and sexy kinda girls in anime, but I am a sucker for sweet ones, too (makes sense, as I love both those characters and they are like opposites; it's like how I love Tessa and Melissa Mao from Full Metal Panic).
Ah, and Green²...

And...
Got to wonder, what did Eruruu put in that travel pack of hers... ...perhaps medicine stuff be my guess. Yet for an while there, I was kind of expecting a cat fight between the two.

The silent stare. The, "You're not taking my Hakuoro away from me!" "Not a thing that you can do about it knowing my strength." "Better watch your food..."
Both had me laughing, especially the first one. :heh:

A while ago, I read some of the game summaries - though the anime has now gone past what I read.
To be honest, I think the anime is better without the ero scenes.
Hakuoro is a calm, sensible person - is basically worth of respect. Humping the female cast hurts his character if you ask me (and also seems rather forced and uncessary).
There's some other scenes that the anime has so far missed out which I'd like to see...

I wonder why her brother doesn't possess it.It's simple, really. Derihourai is the show's replacement Oboro. Doctors recommend that you change your Oboro every fifteen episodes so they are long overdue. (Symptoms of a worn-out Oboro include vulnerability to alcohol and nubile boys).
Derihourai has all the characteristics of your typical Oboro including (1). dual-wielding (2). a rag-tag army of no good rotten kids (3). a bad attitude; pride. The only difference is that instead of a sickly young sister as an accessory, Derihourai has a vibrant older sister that can kick his ass.

Don't forget a nice ass as well :D
Awsome story, what can I say - the story continues and the 'casts' individual selves continue to be developed. Supreme humor. Cute idea "they" had not to involve the country to assist the others.

As far i can tell watching the episode, Karura's little brother Derihourai is very strong too, because that's their race special ability - the Giriyaginas. Remember he said himself their race is very powerful and all the others are weak compared to them.
He is very strong, but Karura is still stronger simply because she is a far superior warrior. Despite the way she acts, Karura is a well-trained 'Nakuan' with years of experience, disciplinated, has self-control, is fast and knows how to fight even without using just strenght.
Compared to her, he is just like an arrogant little boy. Think the difference between Benawi and Oboro at the beggining of the show.
No wonder she could defeat him so easily.
All in all, this episode is one of the bests. I just love KARURA!! 10/10 from me. :D

Thats because the dragon itself was bad enough....
anyway, i wonder if it will be getting any better? I suppose I shouldn't read the game summaries because after you do, the anime can be a bit of a let down, with all the cuts.

He's the one getting humped, like in Karura's case :D

Oboro gets dateraped by little boys. Bring on this new guy!
Aw, don't be like that. Poor Oboro, you see, he is kinda dimwitted and thick-headed, and the twins, well, they are sly and cunning. Combine these things with the power of much too much alcohol, and I think you can be more understanding of poor ol' Oboro becoming owned. :D
At least that was funny ownage, I felt a bit bad for Oboro when his sister was unhappy with how he was being with the animal; he wanted to take its life, not out of cruelity, but for benifiting Yazuha's quality of life. :(
There's something bothering me...
In the game all the girls (except Aruruu, of course) have a thing for Hakuro and had their way (one way or another :heh: ) with him.
In the anime, it looks like all the girls have their feelings for him somewhat supressed. They don't act like they like him very much anymore.
I mean, after that Karura's scene trying to seduce Hakuoro, all the others with them both together looked like she didn't hold any special feelings for him besides friendship and being grateful for all he did.
Are all the girls 'tunned down' just for Eruruu's sake, so she will be the winner without any rivals? I'd rather prefer to see some more 'healthy' competition, even without H-Scenes. :D
Of course, don't need to turn into a typical harem-themed anime show, too.

Karura is probably the most overt one in terms of seducing or mere teasing - and that is probably part of her personality, not necessarily her possible infatuation with Hakuoro.
Touka, IMO, takes her task as a bodyguard too seriously to allow herself to develop feelings - especially since she's probably working hard to make up for the misunderstanding with Orikakan and Kutcha-Ketcha.
Urutorii, for her part, is probably too ensconced with her duties as a yomoru to have significant interaction leading to possible affection for our clueless emperor. In the game the H scene was caused by her being distraught by a certain event and her seeking for comfort - but I don't think it was pure love or whatever.
Kamyuu is probably too busy playing with Aruruu and Yuzuha to frolic with Hakuoro and, well, if you know what happened in the game, well...no need to say more, right?
As for Eruruu, well, she relates to the famous stereotype of the sensible housewife (like Belldandy from Aa! Megami-Sama) that's always there for her...unofficial husband so I suppose the staff might have wanted to paint her as such and push the other characters aside, providing them with the means to cram the game's main events in those 26 episodes, which also include battles, emo moments and whatnot.
And about the focus brought upon her...well, let's wait till the end, eh? There's more to her and her apparent relationship with Hakuoro than meets the naked eye...^_O
As for the harem thing, well, one thing that is missing is the trademark fight between rivals for a certain person. I don't think there is a contest of sorts in the story apart from the apparent (but not necessarily true) Eruruu x Karura clash sparked in this ep. But I think it has more to do with her lack of confidence and her thinking that she is not as beautiful as our favorite Giriyagina than the usual 'Holy mother of Uitsuarunemitea, she's trying to steal my man from me! Die, you wanton harlot!' plot turn.
basically everyone on this trip had done or will do it with Hakuoro (based from the game)
yes Yuzuha
correction by Skane Aruuruu wasn't one :x

absolutly brilliant and funny eps :D!!!
Karura must be desprite to be offering herself so she can save her ppl...thats sweet even tho hakuoro sed it doesnt matter...and the look on eruruu's face as she slowly walked back down the steps is priceless!! then giving hakuoro the silent treatment is classic for a jealous young girl :p
and oh touka checking for poison is delightful ^__^
IMO hakuoro is just a disgrace...as if he gets kidnapped like that T_T how degrading for him as a man haha! i want to experience something like that!
the short fight was cool...seeing karura decapitating the guards again :heh:
hmm so i take it that karura is like a princess or queen before she came to hakuoro? also that kid (cnt remember his name) seems to be her son from the looks of it...

Rewatch the episode. Hakuoro notices the name of the organization Derihourai leads, and also, even a cursory look at the two of them should make it obvious they're related (same hair color, same eye color, same clothing style but I'll strike that up to coincidence. ;) ) The old guy then all but confirms it too, even if it is never explicitly stated.

Wow, I should post parody manga more often. :D
Hi, my name is KaneDragon, and I approve the way this thread is going. :heh: :heh: :heh:
The episode made slow progress with pacing the story for the beginning of the Natunk arc, however, it delivers a different but needed approach to Karura.
Karurauwaturei, former princess of Natunk; was her previous incarnation.
Entrusted Derihourai to old man, Katumau, to raise him to be a leader that will comply for the protection of the weak people of their country.
Speculation: For her two disown and stripped off her princess title could might have been due for disgrace at Derihourai for him not meeting her wish of getting touch with the people to be by their side.
She literally beat sense on his little bro as to snap him out that war is not excuse to cast aside compassion for their country's people, regardless of being weak and strong.
Derihourai is mostly concerned on the survival of the country, than it's welfare.
On his view is survival of the fittest where strong require from nothing outside and shut themselves from the rest to fully devote on making themselves proud with gathering strength by own means. Meanwhile, the weak are expendable and pawns that get in the way, crying and squealing for being unable to handle themselves.
With the misgivings tampered unintentionally by Karura, the seductress, Hakuoro makes known to Eruruu before the audience that his loyalties lie first to his family.
Hakuoro realizes that Eruruu's hurt, but thanks to Urutorii, he's given an unexpected chance to explain himself, though likely Hakuoro is not awared to which extent Eruruu has been internalizing her feelings without confess what love for Hakuoro she covets more in her thoughts.
The seductress Karura is an A+ to the episode.
Not wanting to entangle herself in a bureaucracy of politics, Karura attempts to win at Hakuoro (seducing him straightforwardly to do the nasty) to seal a contract that will indebt to oblige him fulfill on Karura's request for aid.
Eruruu's untimely arrival spoils the moment though.
Only possible option left is kidnapping, tying, and gagging Hakuoro through all the way to Natunk.:p.
Getting what she requests by force.:heh:

Far as I've seen Utawarerumono several of the female cast simply pawn entire armies either that or happen to possess incredible powers / brute strength that elevates their coolness factor.
Touka = speed sword-fighting that butchers an entire squad.
Karura = the powerhouse that makes minced-meat of a whole regiment with just a single swing of her big-a** sword or simply her fists do the job.
Urotorii = her magic that awestruck me for this episode.

Kind of hard to tell. While it seems that Sanosuke is much stronger (compare the size of the blades--not hard), he is a jobber despite all of that. Karura seems to be damn near invincible in the anime, wheras I am told in the game she is a glass cannon--all offense, no defense. Sanosuke, in every incarnation has high offense and high defense.
But Karura could use SECHS to lure the enemy and pulverize them after that. So I would say Karura.

Sanosuke Vs Karura?
Of Course Karura would win!! :D
Sanosuke can be the stronghest man of all, but he is still just a man - he couldn't even win in a man-to-man fight against Saitou! Karura on the other side has superhuman strenght.
Even if their strenghts were evenly matched, still Karura would win. Sano has no tactics. He trusts just in atacks without defense. Karura on the other side already proved she can defend herself against atacks from great warriors, like Benawi's, Touka's fast killing techniques, an entire army fully armed (and she bare-handed) and that three general's syncronized atacks. She can analyze enemies' atacks too, like when she could say Benawi was not using all his strenght or how to defeat the three generals.
Not only tactics, their weapon's ability is different too. Sano can just atack swinging his zanbatou in vertical, horizontal and diagonal atacks with no defense. Karura on the other side can swing her weapon in just every side and different angle possible, and yet she can parry fast atacks, like Touka's.
As for weapons, well, Sano's zanbatou can be broken (Kenshin already proved that), Karura's sword/mace don't.
The only way Sano could win against Karura is in a bare-handed man-to-ma... err... man-to-woman fight. He has that that powerful punch technique in his right hand. If he hit her first with that single technique, the match is over, he won.
If he don't or if she resist, he will be in deep shit. She will know about his atack and avoid to be close of him, and completely defeat him with her punch-in-air technique (the same she used in her little brother). And we're not even considerating her special technique of the game. :heh:
She is blessed by the god of fire, so she can set fire on her enemies.

No i didn't. Read again the part about the only way Sano could win against Karura... it's in a bare-handed man-to-woman fight. In other words, no weapons just fists. Even so he would have a hard time fighting her.
Now, against Cloud Strife... well, Karura would have A LOT of hard time. :heh: I'm not sure if even she and her superstrenght could win against he and his sword technics/special atacks... unless they were bare-handed. As far i remember, Cloud don't have any bare-handed atacks/specials like Tifa's.
