Didn't care much for the first part except for Mikoto and Akira being nosy:heh:. Loved the second part with Akira and co stuck on the floor. Yakumo was pretty cute trying to use her "esp powers" :heh: to get that "someone" to come and rescue them. Of course Harima comes to the rescue poor guy will never get his 120 pages done. Hanai has been on a huge slump and this time is no different. Third part was with the three stooges Nara, Yoshidayama, and Nishimoto trying to make the best out of their Xmas. I was rolling everytime the star-spangled banner was playing in the background when Tougou was making one of his speeches:heh:. Next episode is going to a bad one for poor Harima...

Just saw the RAWS. It's a great! Especialy Santa Harima Hohoho!! Make's me wonder why he did'nt rescued the girls right away...He must be peeking up above to see their panties!! :heh: The 1st part when Eri blushed beat red made me laughed! The 3rd part makes me wonder if Togo is gay with that one piece suit on him or what and Harry what a ladies man! :cool:

I was supposed to give it a 9, but...

They skipped an entirely important scene in the manga Chapter 154. They didn't show the deredere Harima thanking Eri for "protecting him" though he doesn't really remember it all. That would really put a cherry on top of the Omiai arc, but they just had to skip it -_-.

In any case, the comedy is back, and it delivered the same calibre as the old comedy episodes. I love the Akira in a Penguin suit. She's so cute in that with her serious face and cute costume <3. There's also the Penguin Suit Dance, and the Akira Singing (Not sure?) Ringtone. Yakumo's "calling" is really cute too, especially when she did a Tenko-like smoke on the head. Was she really calling Hanai? Or a different guy? Haha. *Hint hint for Riceball*.

I didn't like the Swimsuit-Sumo Boys chapter, mainly because I don't like them much except for Yoshiyadama (who is waaay funny IMO). The Lala beating them up and Lala in a dress being a pig was absolutely hilarious. Tougou is being Tougou, and I have to agree with the boys, Harry is so damn cool. He should be in Ouran Highschool Host Club. Haha

EDIT: Oh yeah, the last scene gave me the creeps. Maybe because I'm a little homophobe, haha. But I doubt that Yoshiyadama and Nara are gay :heh:

Gave it a 6, since both sides got nerfed and the third skit was freaky (Nara will become Naru at this rate :heh: ).

Next ep is the big "Oudou" moment, hope they don't screw it up....

omg...that dance between nara and broom head is much more gay than what I saw on the manga. The sparkly blue and pink backgrounds are just too hideous for that scene. I really think nara and broom head are turning gay.

I can't wait for next episode. I hope they put the "down hill" new year incident.

Nah it's just that they can't get any girls at all. I kinda pity them. :heh:

i liked this episode. the pace was slowed down a bit from the previous ones, but that wasnt a bad thing.

takano is always great. because its the tea club. i wonder if her falling in afterwards was a miscalculation or if she planned that for harima to come after all. yakumo seemed to know who takano was talking about. also i think the santa might have been a parody of like an axe murder santa.

they said eri was at some kind of party. maybe we will see in the next episode and probably see some of asou's date. the end part wasnt too funny, but the motorcycle bit and the frenchfry bit was great.

Yeah! That was my first impression of Harima. Maybe that's why he did not rescue the girls right away...or maybe it took time for him to get the foam bed or maybe not :D

I'm not sure that it's been skipped, because the timeline for this stretch of chapters is a little bit strange. That tree scene is supposed to happen later on, at night time (the tree is decorated during the day). The Penguin scene (Le Trou) happens during the daytime, and the Swimsuit Sumo section goes from daytime to night - but it originally appeared before the Penguin section. I think that events have been reordered to keep everything in sequence - and there seems to be some original material in the previews that shows more of that big tree. Then again, Harima has already changed into his Santa suit, so it's hard to tell. No harm in hoping, though. ;)

I really liked the very start of this episode, but I was disappointed in how they handled the comedy from Eri's flashback. I was really looking forward to see her fizzle out midsentence. :heh:

Hopefully this episode should clear up at least some of the fears of the Ep.17 thread.

the falling through the floor scene was funny...it nearly caused me to choke when it was revealed that akira was stuck as a penguin!!! XD and tenma is just a joke...

Sadly, I have not kept up with the manga at all, so simply based on watching this episode, I gave it a 10. It made me laugh quite a bit, and lots of characters got a share of the comedy. I like how they had some wrap-up of the events of 17. Awesome things include: Mikoto and Eri at the beginning, the tea club section (pikohan rescue = win), and Harry and Togou. I could do without that last part with Nara and chibi Paul Phoenix :heh: .

Darn, we'll have to wait for season 5 to foresee a eventual conclusion I guess.

Definately the Harima and Max fight is a must see in the anime version. Hope it comes out now, but as far as the series is going I think it might be an OVA or a movie.

just finished watching mine. It's good so i gave it an 8. They follow straight up from the manga. opening scene between mikoto and eri was so cute. I like how eri holding a stuffed poytr with her.

but, I gotta hand it to Akira for this episode. Her sick and twisted ways to have fun are all over this episode. The bet with mikoto, the set up for eri X harima, the penguin suit trap..........I think i will start falling for her if she keep up these jokes.

The part where yakumo trying to use her power to call for help was pretty funny too. Could've be that she trying to call harima in the beginning? She denied calling for hanai when sarah and akira asked her. oh well.....she always has the feeling for harima anyway.

Next episode should something all flaggers are waiting for. Something goood is about to happen........something gooooooooooooood

i dont like it..CUZ IM ALL FOR HARIMA x YAKUMO.
man...one line for hanai...thats cruel. he;s a pretty funny character.
as for all the jokes...AKIRA is great. lol king penguin.

It's interesting when you've been reading the manga and then watch the anime, you realize things you missed the first time like i realize just how much Akira is playing on the major characters in the palm of her hand.

Akira knows or can tell who everyone likes, it's like she is one of us (viewer/reader) but actually within the story and has fun messing everyone around. I love Akira, great character heck love'em all.

Some hilarious scenes this time around, the highlight being the constant playing of the American national anthem whenever Tougo was speaking. I didn't understand it all that well, which was what made it so funny. I liked Eri telling Tenma that Harima wouldn't do anything perverted, as well. Overall a good episode and I'm still staying away from the rating system because I can never choose correctly.

Is it me, or is Akira "not knowing how to swim" too questionable? If one is supposed to be a secret agent, wouldn't it be a must prerequisite that one knows how to swim? o_o

I don't think so. Its more like a True Oudou and Oudou episodes for me. Eri will have little airtime in the next, unless of course they will show the tree scene which was lacking in this episode. Other than that, its a pure Harima - Tenma - Karasuma episode.

I wonder if some parts of the next episode is an anime original. The preview with Tenma and Tougou in it looks like the ski chapter in the manga, but in that chapter I can't remember Tougou being there. Unless they meshed together the ski chapter and the skating "flat" chapter. Now thats gonna be one funny episode :D (Lala+Imadori = Win Comedy).

EDIT: Ah, I know now what you're talking about, but I don't really think Ep19 would include chapter 160 :p. It will definitely be in episode 20 though. Can't wait for that to come out two weeks from now :D

okie dokie. I'm rating this ep just... average. I guess being spoiled by almost flag-centric ep16/17 made me want more Flag action.

and (I know I'm in the minority here) I didnt quite enjoy the 3rd part where the girls got stuck on the floor. dont get me wrong, it was humourous but... somehow I started from liking Yakumo to be completely bored and half-annoyed at her character. but that's just me. and coupled with the fact that one of my fave side chars, Hanai, got so short a screen time. oh well. :(

for me, Mikoto/Akira scenes were what made this episode worth watching. Akira, once again, didnt fail to amuse me; Miko-chin is simply cute and Eri is as elegant as always :heh:

Eri and Miko-chin's conversation was great, followed by Akira's enterance (flying Eri made my heart stop from laughing). And the setup was very nice too, it showed some of Eri's cute personality.

Akira's joke was rather nice and gave us a tiny update on how is Hrima's manga going (I'd kill to be that lucky rat btw >.<). But Hanai's scene wasn't good, it could've been better.

Although I'm propably the only Tougo fan in here and his speechs ROCKED (and the American national anthem was a nice addition to it) But i don't think that part was worth it. It was more like a filler and got me a little bored.

In total i gave it 7/10, it could've been better

I, for one, really enjoyed this episode. It brought back all of the randomness that had me hooked to the series in the first season. Of course, it'd be nice to continue to have the story between Harima and Eri/Yakumo/Tenma progress a bit more, but fillers in SR can be a treat, and this was certainly one for me. I'm especially glad Akira got more screen time. Very funny how she can have one of the most serious faces on and still be light-hearted and generate laughs.

part 1: minimal development of the characters' relations, but it was fun to see the gossiping going on back and forth between Akira and Mikoto. poor Eri, always the topic of discussion.

part 2: Having never read the manga, I never saw anything like this coming. But if it's SR, anything goes. One of the highlights of this part, cute Yakumo praying. And even though his time in this episode was way too brief, Hanai still made me laugh. lol "I smell Yakumo"

part 3: To tell the truth, I'm not a big fan of these three guys, but nonetheless they gave a very entertaining performance. My favorite scene was when they tried to emulate Harry and ended up stealing Lala's lunch. :heh: 9/10

Those who didn't like the last two episodes should really enjoy this one.

The episode was a great showcase of Eri, Mikoto, and Akira's characters. Although I'm really disappointed they took out Harima thanking Eri at the Christmas tree, the conversation between Eri and Mikoto more than made up for it (the stuffed animals was a great idea). I don't think it's been noted yet, but this is the first time that we see Eri's friends out in the open about trying to pair up her and Harima (Mikoto tried a little in Ep. 16). This is a subtle but important tip for the flag faction.

All I have to say about the Tea Club section is how adorable Yakumo looked when she was trying to "pray." Then hinting the fact that she was praying for Harima instead of Hanai was just too cute.

If I'm not mistaken, shouldn't this season end in the middle of an arc (manga readers know which one) at the rate it's going?

This episode was great. The comedy has definitely returned, and Mikoto's stock keeps rising. Eri was quite good this episode, too, definitely showed some character.

Akira had some great screen time today, too. However, the part that kind of bothered me was when Yakumo was praying for help, Akira thought of Hanai right away. If she is all knowing, then why didn't she reference Harima first? Although, later, she did know that Harima was there to rescue them.

Although the "I smell Yakumo" was once again a freaky scene from Hanai with Yakumo. He is like a stalker who is totally obsessed with Yakumo. I am not even sure he would be willing to do what is right for her, or just what he wants for himself, concerning her. It seems like a fatal attraction to me.

but he is all those things u mentioned above. He done everything in this second season. I guess this season is not a shining moment for hanai. Even broom head yoshidayama got more air time than hanai....altough its a (almost) gay air time.

they did missed important part from the manga between harima and eri. Probably they will put it in one of the OVAs or something. I just hope next episode will be better than this one

Yeah propably it will be the same as season1 OVA where they showed us some events that didn't appear in the season itself (e.g hotsprings trip)

parts which i thought were funny:

mikito's face when asking what eri did with harima
eri's reaction to akira/mikito's set up
harima crushed by the bell
when all the girls got stuck in the floor
when akira does the penguin dance
tenma imagining them being grannies
yakumo praying
when harima/santa uses a big hammer and bonked them on the head
hanai's eyes without the glasses lol 3_3

Another little detail they showed I noticed was when Eri was eating lunch with Harima, she did not split her wooden chopsticks cleanly, with one end on one chopstick thicker than the other. That is a sign of bad luck. Subsequently, the following events, the characters kept on saying the other is bad luck (Harima thinking Eri is bad luck, and Eri and Tenma saying Harima is bad luck). That is quite a nice touch on the detail.

Edit: After listening to the new ending a few times, I find the song really cute and catchy (it takes me a while to determine if I like a song or not). Yakumo's voice is so sexy in the song.

but the ending is gay...yoshidayama and nara was dancing together and yoshidayarama was like"Merry Christmas"..awwwww,this is really sad..then togou dressed up in this aerobic-like suit that is really makes him a queer and hey???where's nishimoto????

it really pains me to see school rumble go down like this. i love this show but watching potential relationships or flags (or whatever) happen now, like in this episode, almost has no meaning to me. using the past as judgement i can only believe that nothing will develope from them. the author seems dead set on making school rumble a situational comedy, so, it is hard getting too enthusiastic. i think that when this series is over what we take from it will be memorable characters, and not much else.

i just finished watching genshiken for the first time, an awesome show where the author shows no fear in plot developement and sustaining that momemtum. and then i saw school rumble 18. there is just no comparison on which was more enjoyable to watch. i used to love school rumble too, darn it.

Aarrrrrggggh! How does someone start a story with purely romantic plot, only for us to realize along the way that there is very little chance of an actual resolution of romance! I guess comedy is great, but I really feel that School Rumble wouldn't get set apart from other anime unless it really develops some sort of solid element to build upon. Basically i think it's continually lacking cohesion now.

I'd say the thing it lacks is focus. Unlike Term#01, where the comedy + romance is tied together by Harima, his intent to confess to Tenma and his manga which forms his outlet for his feelings for Tenma, Term#02 seems to run all over the place and gets even more lost.

However, I find that if I just concentrate on the comedy and forget about trying to make sense of the romance part, School Rumble Term#02 can be very enjoyable. In this episode, the part where Akira announced her victory and proceeded to get stuck in the floor left me going "bwahaha".

It's funny to point out that in the end, Yakumo's wish (or ESP) really did come true. It's a good thing for her that she wasn't considering Hanai, or he might have been all over her lol.

When everyone said if "you pray/wish for him" to come she is assuming that everyone else is still assuming that something is going on between her & Harima. So she thought that they where saying Harima, i don't think it has anything to do with how she feels for him or least it's only partly the reason.

If i didn't misunderstand you then yes, just to clarify things:

Sarah & Akira --> implicitly meant Hanai and his obession
Yakumo --> Thought they mean't Harima so she tried to make a "connection" with him.

Then Sarah & Akira actually say Hanai and Yakumo gets embarrassed for thinking of and trying to make a "connection" with Harima. She's embarrassed partly because if the others found out they will misunderstand and partly might be the fact she does have some kind of feelings for him without realizing it. Well no matter what the case for her personality it's an embarrassing situation for her (ignoring an even more embarrassing situation for all the characters in that scene ^_^).
