I'm currently in my 7th semester at college but am still technically a sophomore. A few of the semesters were part time and a couple I passed no classes due to lack of motivation. What I really want to do is go to Temple University's Tokyo campus and learn the Japanese language. Whether I end up doing that is dependent on how I do in JPNS 102 (I have an A in 101 at my community college) and whether my motivation will allow me to finish my associate's degree. My name is August. Og for short. Im an old dude who love animation, incredible story writing, Japanese culture, and all kinds of art. Im a lapidary artist, I carve and sculpt gemstones. Also I create digital paintings sometimes, and have played a classic guitar for 30 years.

In the last few months or so I ran across the Bleach series. Ive downloaded and watched from the start and now Im caught up to waiting weekly for subs. ( the people who are subbing anime are like my art culture heros). I really became attracted to ichigos hollow mask because my chosen study subject to carve for learning lapidary techniques was the human skull. Anyhow, after I saw that mask, I decided to try and create a gemstone pendant of it. Most of it is a white agate, from Montana US, the red stripes are garnet inlay, and for the eyes ill use yellow citrine. Here is a picture of it uncompleted http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/9/23/234714/mask.jpg.

I had to stop there because Im busy getting pieces ready to take to a big gem show to sell in Jan. 07, but after that Ill finish it. If you see it let me know what you think!

I'm the newest man of the hour here. I was born, and stiil living, here in Quezon City, the Philippines. My very first fandom, as you can see in my user name, is Naruto (and Pinoy Big Brother?!?). My current fandom is Jigoku Shoujo (lit. Hell Girl), but I can anticipate that it will be Negima! for me next month.

Hn, I think what makes the Philippines special is that you don't have to have a cable/satellite TV connection (or even an Internet connection, if getting it here at ANimeSuki) just to have anime. Four of our local TV stations here have at least 4 hours of timeslot for anime every single day (except for Lent, unfortunately).

Still, we couln't get any happier if we have cable, because we have 2 cable TV channels entirely devoted to anime: HERO-TV (anime dubbed in Tagalog, our native language) and ANIMAX Philippines (dubbed in English, our second language). Lucky, lucky. :D

Hello. I've just registered here as well. I did some posting in the past, but mostly lurked these past few months.

I'm 20, soon to hit 21, living in Slovenia (Middle Europe, EU) and I'm mostly interested in newly aired anime, visual novels/ero ero AVG and their music. I also love doujinshi music and games. I'm not really a manga fan because I believe all the good stuff from this vast medium gets ported to anime sooner or later. I enjoy physical as well as digital anime/VN media, I also watch fansubs and treat them as the anime TV station this godforsaken place will never have.

I've been fansubbing in the past but mostly shifted my attention now to anime blogging (the link is in my signature). I figured there's just too much great content out there to let it slip by, and fansubbing doesn't help that when you have school and a part time job. Neither does blogging, but it's much more fun when you have to data-mine for new information. :)

You guys have a really cool forum. I've been a forum mod and even admin, but I've never seen a registration-to-welcome process as friendly and helpful as here.

I've enjoyed anime since I was about 9, but have had few chances to watch a wide variety. Back then, all I knew about was Dragonball Z and Gundam, though I only watched DBZ. I don't care what anyone says, DBZ remains one of my favorite epic animes of all time. Since my cousin has bought a lot of anime recently, I have been able to watch all of Full Metal Alchemist (my favorite anime, and possibly favorite story out of all other media ever!!!!), Samurai Champloo, s-cry-ed, and a few more. Oh yes! Samurai 7 was also an awesome series!

I don't want to take up too much here: basically, several months ago, I became a huge Bleach addict. My main non-anime interest is programming and Web programming. I also take Japanese at school. ;)

Hey guys. I'm new here obviously. ;) To be honest, I'm an anime/manga newb. I've watched probably 10 series all together, and only finished watching two of them. Those being Fruits Basket and Kannazuki no Miko. I've only read one manga, which was Chrno Crusade. It's been probably 3.5 years since I last watched anime believe it or not. A good friend of mine is really into it, so I was browsing for something good to watch. I randomly came across Kannazuki no Miko three days ago, and watched the entire series. I feel in love with it started to check out other things. I'm currently watching Strawberry Panic (though I'm on episode 7 now and losing interest), Venus Versus Virus (which I'm enjoying a lot so far) and then Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora (I really like this one, though I have to admit because of Kaon and Himiko :heh:) and thats about it.

Neat, an introduction thread! That's great, after being on a "Don't waste bandwidth by introducing yourself" policy from another board. People were yelled at daily there! v_v;

cdtm's my standard internet name, which stands for Crazy Dan The Man... (And apologies in advance if this is breaking a rule against using gibberish names, like on the site that didn't like people introducing themselves... I promise to read the rules, but I have an ADD level attention span and wanted to post first! ^_^; )

Anyways, my anime interests have broadened somewhat, since my Dragon Ball Z days. I wouldn't call myself anywhere near a purist, or knowledgeable otaku, or even a real otaku.. I simply like good anime, in the same way someone would like the occasional good movie, or book, or whatever takes the edge off.

I greatly admire and enjoy the usual suspects, like Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Macross, Ranma 1/2... Mostly stuff that's been released in the states already. I won't usually go out of my way to import stuff with subs only, but I WILL employ that option on any DVD's I own, just for comparisons sake, or something different. Right now, I want the Noir anime, and bought a copy.. It was a bootleg. ¬_¬

So, back it went.

Manga wise, I'm a lot less versed.. I did get the entire manga of Akira, volume by volume, and I'm working on Berserk, which I refuse to pirate. Not on principle, but more because I enjoy having a physical copy of something I can enjoy with dinner, or at a park, or on the porcelain throne...

I've traveled around a bit on the web, so it's probably safe to say I'm not a newb, exactly.. My first anime home was Twisted World Message Board, run by a Mira Bejita, whom I've kept in contact with on their tiny island of the web, with it's half dozen members.. I guess she had a small association with Planet Namek in the day, to the tune of a hate/hate relationship with it's webmaster, but that's long past.

Since the community posting broke down, I moved onto comic book posting at Alvaro's Comicboard, and then at Comic Book Resources Rumbles board, untill they had mass bannings and the main members moved on. Basically, all we did was debate comic, manga, and anime character fights, building our arguments on whatever scraps of evidence we could find, and tossing out examples that didn't fit the "guidelines"... Fun for awhile, but eventually taxing in the same way politics could be... But there's a lot of knowledgeable posters, who know all kinds of minute details, so you can learn a lot.

Through it all, my main home was a wrestling message board, A1.com, which isn't really about wrestling anymore... More about 24, and Battlestar Galactica, and politics, and Tivo, and mixed martial arts, and video games, and everything else, except wrestling.

Well, I usually make relatively long introductions too, but I'm going to make this one rather short. ;)

Nothing too out of the ordinary. Lifelong anime fan, jack of many trades, guy with a lot of free time (but it just never seems enough to watch anime, I tell you).

I've been lurking here for a fair amount of months, and that gave me access to a lot of useful information here and there, but lurking can only get you so far.

There seem to be many interesting discussions in this community, and many others that are simply fun or look like a nice way to pass the time, so I registered in order to try and participate in several of these topics.
