This thread has become incredibly long without actually containing anything of substance other than fan anticipation, hopes and rumors. Most of what it contains will have a rather confusing effect on future readers since it is likely to contradict the actual show. To improve our focus, once the series actually starts, this thread will be closed so that a new (and hopefully topical) thread can be created for general discussion of the show.

http://www.hlj.com/images/alt/alt20116.jpgThe Alter one's kinda crappy (her expression looks far too vacant and lifeless for her pose, in particular, and apparently the wings fall off easily too and won't go back on) but it's also the cheapest. Movic's is pretty cool but is also the most expensive, her face looks kinda pale, and I've barely heard of the company before so the final product may be disappointing and nothing like the promo pics. I really like the face and expression though. Kotobukiya's has really nice colouring on the outfit, are supposedly reputable, has lots of feathers (some say too many, but I don't really mind) and her legs are done well, at least imo. On the other hand, her face doesn't really look like Nanoha to me - it's a decent face, but it's just not Nanoha. GSC's is fine too, it some tongue (=o), the face does kinda look like Nanoha, and it's definitely got my favourite weapon. On the other hand, the skirt's waaay too blatant.

I dunno, I'm tempted to get one as a Nanoha fan but there's nothing that jumps out and says buy me like Alter's Fate did, and I'm running short of money right about now.

Yeah, those models have become a real problem for me. I mean, HLJ's gonna totally hate me. I keep pre-ordering them and then cancelling them when a better one comes out. I wish they'd at least be more inventive with them. I have Alter's one and it's not bad. Took some patching up (but what PVC figure doesn't?) but now it's getting sad.

A word about the Movic one. The one with normal Raging Heart is the normal one you can buy. The other one is a limited edition piece.

I wish the Wonder Festival ones didn't cost nearly $2000. They had an awesome Vita, a (albeit ugly) Reinforce (boss version) and one of the three girls in teen form lounging on a sofa.

Panzer, if you run into credit problems, try a NextWavePlus Titanium Mastercard. You don't actually go in debt with them and the application took me ten minutes or so. I use one because my credit is shot. You just load however much money you need onto it.

I think its pretty dynamic looking...

On Nanoha, I've got the Movic one pre-ordered and the Good Smile one... but I may put the Movic one up for sale as soon as I get it depending on how it looks -- I kind of like my characters to be the same scale for a series.

I have the one that is already out by AtSai ... but the feet wings keep falling off and her expression is kind of bland. May sell it down the road too if the Good Smile one looks good in RL.

Now... the burning question is --- when will the StrikerS series figures come out? :)

in nanoha A's they were trying to change her into a knight class melee type, and the sword form is her new strongest physical attack. they did the same with nanoha, she has the winged type raging heart in the PVC figures.

I figure if Yuuno fought he'd have a dagger. Tho unless using two and being extremely fast, daggers are generally very uncool, I find.

As for the models, try imageboards like the chans or Danbooru. Niche odd pics like those are pretty tough to find. About as tough to find as the models are.

Only as close a dagger is to a short sword.

The handling of a mace in combat is different from a hammer( or rather, warhammer).

The closest contender would be Fate, I guess. Since if we were to examine the Bardiche( the medieval weapon, not her IDevice), it is basically an axe with a really long handle.

Vita is also a contender for axe, since her weapon can be easily modified to accommodate an axe-mode.

Or if we want to be whimsical... give Shamal the axe. Mmm... Shamal with an axe.

As for cards... Chrono = Gambit? :heh:

Nunchakus? Erm... Can't quite visualise any of the three girls using it. Either Arf or Zarf maybe? Since the two of them prefer close-quarter physical combat.

The only thing I've been able to find so far was some pics showing the pieces of a Vita PVC figure and it assembled with no color ; ;. It might not even be the same one as the one I'm looking for.

If there were a new character to be introduced with a new device, I'd want the device to be a pair of gloves/knuckles.

Oh yeah, and I was thinking that Shamal should get Klarer(sp?) Wind upgraded to use the cartridge system lol. j/k =P

Dagger could be interesting. Asakura from Suzumiya Haruhi and the UBW ripoff style together make for terrific effect.
I think I would like to see something like Arisa chucking 'magical' grenades and putting up mines. And speaking of dual-wield... somehow I picture Nanoha dual wielding MP5-RH if she doesn't turn RH into kodachi... (and maybe put bayonets on the barrel as well).

Well it could be written as Kouya and Miyuki are implicated in a brooding conspiracy where some unknown factions with backbone of Bureau dissidents seek for a path into Alahazad. Nanoha steps into the fray only after a disaster occurs and having dragged her close friends into the quagmire. The Bureau becomes short of manpower and calls its retired ranks into combat as it faces a two-front campaign with Precia as the 'ghost' resonating behind all of this... but this is dangerously close to fanfiction and other sci-fi space dramas.

I always figured that Nanoha being a young girl automatically had skill with the beloved P90:)

Anyhow, I'd like to see some sort of conspiracy breaking up the T.S.A.B. They can't make the proper moves because command is getting screwed. That sort of thing. So they need a rogue unit (if Nanoha and co aren't actively employed by then) to sort things out.

Nanoha really needs to dual wield kodachi. Like if say an enemy goes in at Nanoha in melee range, she could put her raising hearts away and pull them out and slice the enemy in a flash.

But how do you split RH into two? I can imagine RH getting a bayonet for its buster mode but dual wielding... Fate's already got the Kaladbolg Zanber mode and Signum has a Falchion/hand-and-a-half.

Problem is, we never got to see her transform after Reinforce departed, so I'm not even sure if the current chibi-Reinforce(cReinforce) will transform into a book or not. I hope it does though... since Magical Girls with Books are sorely lacking.

This leads to another conundrum though. With the loss of the original-Reinforce(oReinforce), Hayate has lost an extremely powerful source of magical power. All those moments of kingdom-nuking in A's were a result of her reading the pages of oReinforce. Without oReinforce... what is the current power level of Hayate?

As for fighting style, I hope they stick to the Nordic theme they had going with Hayate and her knights.

The part about Hayate's magic power I can answer. Based on the A's manga, Hayate retains her incantations (how many spells under her disposal I dunno) and is very fast with her casting. If anything she's on par with her peers.
Her significant advantage however would be in the knights. Hayate by herself is the quinessential archmage from the looks of it and the knights work alongside her like a party. Her battle-hardened party is swarn to go wherever she goes making that group more powerful than a single mage can hope to be.

Nanoha is at the moment a sniper/tank/gun. Fate does have area of effect spell but she doesn't specialize in it. We don't see enough of Hayate to determine whether or not she will be an AoE mage (this might be filled by chrono actually if not others).

By the way, it is unlikely for the Takamachi family to have legendary kodachi. Reason being is that the kodachi wielders were primarily merchants who got them for self defense (such as on Tokaido road) and for prestige of their new wealth since by late Edo period commerce overtook the old class structures. The strict class codes forbid anyone but samurai to wield katana and there's a maxinum length mandated even for Katana (as such nobody carried the massive horse killing sword/nodachi that Setsuna uses in Negima). Moreover, the period has few heroes as there's not much duel whatsoever.

It bugs me also, but since few of the posts in the A's thread or the original series thread are about the actual show, I have trouble seeing that as relevant problem to just this thread. You can have off-topic Nanoha conversation in any of those three threads it seems. If there was a place for non-series Nanhoha discussion, then I'd tell folks to move it elsewhere.

Wait, wait. Showing love for a show is a bad thing now? With only one thread per season, there isn't a lot we can do to split things up. Fanfiction, fanart, AMVs, speculation, series discussion, etc... all has to be done within one thread; and LNanoha is hardly the only series with this issue in the Fansubs/General Forums. :P

Unless LNanoha gets its' own subforums, everything( and I do mean EVERYTHING) that is related to LNanoha has to go into these threads. I rather have lively threads with enthusiastic fans, than a dead one with no one to talk with about LNanoha.

Big Reinforce and Chibi are both in Saimoe. Bardiche is absent but Linnis is present. That said... Raging Heart, unlike Reinforce doesn't look anything like a typical moe character at all! At least Shakugan looks like a loli and talks like a loli.
That said, RH does talk uber engrish and has catchy phrases such as "don't worry" and "let's shoot it."

Saimoe - If it were a different competition (remember back to his Gamefaqs days) then "let's shoot it!" and "I can be shot!" is all you'd need to take home the gold:) Seriously tho, I don't think any Nanoha personalities will win but it's great they're on the list. For them to win Nanoha would need a far more rabbid fanbase. Hweck, look where it got Touhou or Typemoon:)

Offtopicness - Sadly, animesuki doesn't support itself very well for situations like these. Really, there're three options. First, every series can get a "general discussion" topic. That's deffinately not going to happen. Second is that the admins could go around axing everyone who's not talking directly about the show itself. If that happens then you'd have a hard time finding people who'd want to stay. They'd just go elsewhere. Lastly, things can stay as-is. This is of course what will likely happen and what's best to happen. "It's bad to have everything right on the desktop but if the directory structure is too thick, nobody will want to use the computer" so to speak.

More speculation - What's the legal driving age in Japan? I'm just thinking that since all the girls are either well-off or bloody rich, some cars might get involved in just a few scenes. I for one would love to see N/F/H/S/A all piled into a red convertable, speeding down a shoreline highway.

Interesting. The Bureau Armored corp is modelled after the SDF. Investigator are essentially similar to the duty of police investigators. Hayate's position is 'special' (how I am not sure...) It is clear that the trio are going to be the leads of StrikerS but other than that.

Since Hayate has a whole team of knights led by her own abilities while Nanoha and Fate are only a single people, I suspect that Fate has far outstripped Signum by now. That is of course, faulty reasoning since it relies on expectations of how a show will be written, but it is likely.

From another point of view: Signum has centuries of experience and consequently her abilities have likely peaked. Or at least are near peak. By contrast, Fate was a 9 year old girl with a lot to learn. For a 9 year old, 6 more years of experience could easily double or triple her power.

In either case, odds are that Fate's abilities will outstrip her former rival, Signum. Just like Vegeta's abilities eventually fell far behind Goku's abilities. I really wouldn't expect anything different here.

Nanoha is primarily a combatant trainer. She's supposed to be off the front line for the most part.

Fate was compared to as a police detective, whom is assigned to assignments on a per mission basis, occasionally being able to command more officers.

Hayate and her knights are a special task force group which specialises in hunting down Lost Logia artifacts and is said to have special authority in deciding what they can do with them once they found them. So for the most part she and the knights are their own team.

I think it would be more likely that a series of clues and incidents will lead Fate and Hayate going onto the same case, and eventually forced Nanoha to join them later on.

Well what I can imagine happening is that Lindy comes back into field commission due to the gravity of the situation that her old crew has gotten themselve into. Not sure how would the heroine's friends will be involved with whatever coming their way.
Based on the conclusion of A's, Nanoha performs dual role of trainer and investigator so I doubt she'll be out of harm's way. Fate seems to have subordinates (as does Nanoha) although I don't know if they have pernament assignments.

Meh, that'd be horrible. In DBZ, every non-sayian character were useless in battle starting at the cell saga and forward.

I would love to see that. Corraboration and combat coordination on the ground would be great. Nanoha S1-S2 are basically mostly if not all solo fights. It would be great if the aces don't take all the attention to themselve during skirmishes and continue with unforseen elements interfering in battles as with S1 and S2.

Same as what was said at end of A's, if I remember correctly. I wonder how long she's been teaching combat training for (mostly magical combat I presume)... I also wonder if she's gotten some weapons training from her family - they could probably give her advice on general training as well.

I hope we see Nanoha in action fairly early on - if she's just doing training, in most circumstances she'd hardly have a chance to cut loose. One idea I had is that maybe she takes her students to a planet with some low-grade monsters for some real world training (rather than pure simulated combat), but something goes wrong and so Nanoha steps in with some super-powered attacks to save her students. And maybe, the others in other worlds are encoutering unusual events as well... which eventually converge.

The only boy we've seen in either series that was a passable fighter was Chrono and he was all aghast at Nanoha and Fate's ability.Was he? All three are AAA-class mages, so they're at least in the same ballpark. Nanoha and Fate have more power, but when they first met Chrono could make up the difference with better skill and training. He certainly could stand up to Fate as an equal during their practice duel in Sound Stage 3.

Granted, Chrono wound up underpowered through most of A's, but that was because S2U never got a cartridge system. I'd expect teenage Fate and Nanoha to have the edge over him in a straight-up duel, but Chrono's a cagey customer and too smart to ever count out in real combat.

Barriers seem to prevent pure magical energy from damaging terrain features, since they're all relieved when the lightning Shamal summons from the book only destroys the barrier and doesn't vape the city as a secondary effect. Besides trapping chosen opponents, that's the only thing we really know about them...

Hmm, speaking of giant robots... I always though it would be interesting if Nanoha and company piloted some sort of giant robots, gundams, gears, E.S.es, meganites, mechs, whatever.

Then again, I always thought Nanoha and company should be in Metal Gear Solid parody version of the game.


Nanoha doesn't have her dual ribbons on. She gets out from the water, and into this place. It's like the same starting setting for MGS1.

She sneaks past some magical guards, then when she is on the elevator(like in MGS1), the metal gear solid music plays and Nanoha puts on her ribbons.

It'll be like the same when Solid Snake puts on his bandana.

Nanoha's Raging(or Raising) hearts only starts off with the "Socom" mode. In this mode, it works the same as the socom and has a laser sight.

Nanoha will get these cards that can insert into the raging hearts, it will now learn new weapon modes. For example, Nanoha could get a FAMAS card and allow raging hearts to mimic the FAMAS gun. Or the Stinger missile card, mimic that weapon, and so on.


The models could be cel shaded also.

Yeah, but she's mostly a melee fighter. Her only ranged magic attack is Swallow Flyer, her defensive measure is Tank Barrier, and her speed reinforcement is Horse Speed.

Explosion, however, is a VERY fun skill for Vita. Well, it's fun for me when I see Vita pull it off.

Nanoha doing barrier burst was to me one of the sweetest moment ever. Vita was stymied by the kind of stopping power Nanoha's protection has. If utilized correctly Nanoha can shield stun her enemies.

Oh, and something else I noticed while looking for what the missle form was called...Raketen means "Rockets", so it should really be Rakete (singular) Form. Also, as I've learned in a previous thread in the A's forum, Eisen should really say Schwalbe Fliegen when Vita launches one ball, and Schwalben Fliegen when she launches more than one. And then there's "Gefangnis der Magie"...I have no idea what they mean by that one.

Mid to close range, Lancer wins. Gae Bolg's attack works such that the moment the weapon's special skill is "triggered" (name is called out), and the range is suitable, the heart is immediately pierced by the spear.

Hmmmm... How about far in the future Nanoha (as an older woman, maybe in her 50's) feels a lot of regret for bad descisions she's made. Everything we've seen so far in the series is all just a parapsychological dillusion of her's as she soul searches for her own truth of self. Dark Nanoha is that side of her that knows she did something terribly wrong. Her freakish oblong behaviour is so unlike the rest of her fantasy world that it's a constant searing reminder that it's only make-believe.

Some day Nanoha will overcome this regret and be able to reclaim her mind. Until then, she lives an immaterial life as her own jailor, constantly watched by her derranged dark doppleganger.

Well I just finished episode 7 of season one and I must say the Nanoha/Fate relationship reminds me a lot of Yoh Asakura and Tao Ren's relationship from Shaman King. Fate is the Tao Ren character who will do anything to achieve her goal and who has issues with her mother much like Tao Ren did with his father and Nanoha is the Yoh and is laid back and just wants to talk things over with Fate. However, Fate seems far more remorseful and lacking in killing intent than Tao Ren for what she is doing and I was caught of guard in episode 4 when she apologized to Nanoha just before firing the attack that KO'd her. I was expecting her character to be a lot more icy and cruel but instead she's just lonely, confused and isolated.

You are right about Fate - she is far from cruel or any sort of evil actually :) She was the character i liked the most during the series. And do continue watching -if You like Nanoha you will most likely like Nanoha A's (second season) even better. Wolkenritter ftw :love:

I don't see it.:confused:Well, "Mahou Shoujo" meaning "Magical Girl". It's not "shoujo" as in "made for girls", but "shoujo" as in the main character is a girl. Although it's "mahou shoujo", the target audience is mostly guys. Unless you were taking "shojo" to mean something else?

Tyvm! Btw I've noticed that at the end of the first season where Nanoha was aking Chrono about Fate, Chrono said that due to circumstances Fate would be locked up for a couple of 100 years and so on. NANOHA, said that Chrono was kind right, but I noticed that her pigtails twitched a little. Go and see for yourself! :)

Dont have the anime right now, but as far as i remember Chrno said that Fate will be found not guilty more likely than not due to circumstances :) Dont remeber about pigtails tho :P

Oy... I don't know what would Kaioshin have to say about this but right now I am starting to picture Nanoha possibly going to the darker plots of Gundam Zeta through an emerging newty... I mean a mage disciple. The heroes unite to fight a conspiracy that proves to be bigger than even the lost logia cases (does that mean Lindy is Bright Noa) ?

Anyway, leaving that morbid idea aside (and Zeta Gundam OP2 with Nanoha, pink light and all at the helm of Zeta running in my head), I don't actually recall the thing about her pigtails. Will look into what episode that appeared in.
