I can see people whining about how this episode sucks or something since it's filler and doesn't feature the main cast. However The Mai magical girl part was awesome and hilarious Harima as the bad guy:heh: was great. Tenma almost stole the whole show with her wonder woman get up. The second part is some sort of bizarre homage to the old school with the basketball squad fighting some evil group:heh:. Next time is the new years stuff...

not as good as ep 20, but i still give 8.5..........maybe more after i got subbed version.

magical mai was awesome parody of cardcaptor sakura mixed with sailor moon. The part where tenma became wonder woman was cheesy...until her fake boobs dropped down to her knees.....that cracks me up. Harima becoming the evil mask man was hillarious also. He look like a combination of spawn + ultimate maskman (that stupid cartoon from WB) + colonel armstrong (from FMA) + the bad guy from la blue girl (that's right....the hentai series). his weapon was his red sumo underwear that flowing like spawn's coat, but it attack the enemy like those tentacles from hentai series..........I think this episode has the most parodies out of the rest of SR series. The second part was mediocre. It didn't really crack me up as much as the first one. dats why i give this episode lower score than ep 20. Can't wait for new year stuffs that coming up next week. more stuffs for harima x eri fans to watch.

First and foremost, I'm not a fan of Ootsuka Mai, so that is probably one of the factors that made me give this episode a 6.

In any case, parts of this episode was funny, but sometimes I don't get the punch line, especially at the Galactic Bomber scene. Maybe I'm just not too familiar with its parodies?

When I was watching the Magical Girl part of this episode, I was wondering who in 2-C was playing as the guy who was kidnapped by Harima. It was a very fun surprise when it was shown as Nishimoto, with matching "DAS". The anime (not really in the manga, though there are hints) was probably trying to pair up Mai and Nishimoto, since two of their "scenes" were anime originals (First was Tenma's Birthday, Second was this one), and the only "scene" that is from the manga was the Earthquake Nishimoto flat chapter (where Mai volunteered to clean Nishimoto's books).

I'll probably appreciate this more when I know what they are saying :heh:. I should really work on my Japanese -.-

If you take his appearance in the anime seriously, (he's the one submitting the short stories) he was probably the one who (co-)wrote the original material in the double-ep. If anime's frame-by-frame faithful to manga, there's no point in watching.

It's more of a pacing issue, than anything else. These were filler episodes, but they were essential filler episodes - since you really can't end the series in the middle of a big story arc. I recognize the fact that the pacing had to be adjusted, but I would rather that they had spread the filler material over several episodes. The filler wasn't as noticable in Ep. 20 because it had a decent balance of parody and traditional material. The problem could have been avoided with the right planning, but that's water under the bridge, now.

I'm looking forward to Ep.22.

True. But previous filler episodes are way better than this one. It's not "School Rumble" at all. It's just unfunny parodies after another (Especially the basketball part, I found it so unbearable that I even skipped the scenes, first time I did that while watching School Rumble).

Wow what a friken terrible episode. I dont mind filler but wow this was just so bad, the friken useless magical girl crap. the only good part was the "lioncloth attack" lmao.

The loincloth attack thing was done by Laharl in the anime Disgaea as well. Granted, Laharl was using his cloak rather than a loincloth.

Anyway, I was reeling at why they included that galatic bomber basketball part into School Rumble. This is the first time I see an anime running off to becoming another anime with an entirely new cast. Really strange.

The Magical Mai part is quite entertaining though. Still, I'll give this episode a 6. I'm disappointed at all these filler episodes plaguing season2, especially since its only a few more episodes left to the end of the season. Even Keroro Gunsou, a comedy anime which is episodic in nature, has more focus.

ugh, this one was bad as well. tenma was entirely excessive and just made herself look bad. when mai first whupped out "my mai dream" in ep4, it was completely hilarious and awesome, but it just seems really weedy and lame here, especially when it took up 2/3 of this episode. the last part was even more disappointing ... the basketball heroes were really there for short-term hilarity during the basketball arc, but when these minor gags become expanded to take up entire episodes, it just makes them feel bloated and totally irrelevant.

feh, as a general rule for me, it seems like SR is at it's best when harima is involved with a non-tenma girl :\ these eps barely mentioned harima and OD'd on randomness

I didn't particularly enjoy these last two episodes. I'm glad some of the side characters are getting screentime and all, but to throw them in random fantasies is a bit of a waste. Ootsuka Mai put on quite a performance though. Some parts of the Magical Mai scenario were somewhat entertaining. My favorite scene was when Mai confronted junior Imadori, Yoshidayama, and Nara.

Anyways, looking forward to the next episode. The story finally gets back on track again.

Hilarious ep, much better than the filler stuff in the previous ep.

Tenma's drooping boobs were funny, but the best scene was when Mai stabbed Masked Kamen in the ear. Iori and Harima's reactions were priceless :heh:

Truly bad but I gave a few points bc I liked the Mai song, catchy and very Japanese. I prefer original work over parodies. Except for the Love Hina reference some time back, that was rock solid.

This is my first time dealing with filler I think. It's a real drag. Any idea when it's ending?

I finally got around to watching these episodes and I have to say that I loved them. In fact I definately *could* watch atleast an OVA series of "Magical Girl Mai" - all the stuff in that episode was just hysterical:

- Lala as the mom: POTATOES!
- Chibi Imadori commenting on Mai's grandma panties :)
- Wonderwoman Tenma and her amazing fake boobs!
- Tiny Yakumo the fairy ^_^
- Karasuma and his own wonderwoman costume!
- Harima and his "interesting" camera angles ... I LOL'D hard.
- One word: DASU!

The entire thing was brilliantly done in my opinion - all the characters were wonderfully still in character even though they were playing other parts. I especially liked the entire idea of a "magical girl" that was getting well... a little bit past her magical girl prime ;)

One thing I will say for sure is that there was a lot of visual gags going on in this episode (that I found rather funny actually) so I wonder if the people complaining about how bad this was were probably trying to read subs and not just taking in the entire experience or something... or maybe they just really have terrible senses of humor ;)

I would give this episode an 11 out of 10 if I could just on the hope that we could get another 18 minutes or so of CHARM UP MY MAI DREAM!!!

I think parodies are ok, but not when they're taking an entire episode. I remember some quite funny parodies in the first season, like the dbz one, they took some minutes at the beginning or at the end of an episode. A complete episode for Magical Mai is just too much.

I find Galactic Bomber quite good as a parody of typical shonen animes. But I think it was enough including it in the basketball arc. Repeating it again now shows a lack of imagination.

About this episode, masked man looked like Harima abit (the hair-style). What they did with Tenma was really bad, it totally killed her off for me.

This episode was great, really interesting and funny. Togou as the father, Tenma with her fake boobs, Mai's ear-stab, Harima's.....umm.....and finally DASU~

Really nice I'd give it a 9...if it was an OVA or a filler in a long series. But since it's not an OVA or the series is that long, thus nothing more then a 7 should fit.

Time is running short and having a closure in the last 3-4 episode would be stuffing too much drama in short time. Unless they're going for a 3rd season~

Their conversation was a 100% rip off from the Doraemon manga. Even their respective heights and hairstyle is suggestive of it.

And guys, Harima's costume was more of a parody to Ultimate!Hentai Kamen, that manga (it's not hentai and it's not even ecchi....well just a wee bit) where a Kenpo master wears put on his girlfriends' panty on his face and gets exxageratingly muscular and shamelessly bold, employing really gay moves to pulverise his opponents, such as ramming a robber's face with his balls or whipping them with BDSM equipment. The 'camera' of the manga also is always angled below his balls.

I ROFLMAO'd at the Ultimate!Hentai Kamen reference that Harima played at. It truly made me wanna read the UHK scans again....

Episode 21 is a filler, but it truly delivers what I as a School Rumble fan wanted : Pure random insanity!I give it a 10!
