My favorite character is Hakuoro. I know there is something more to him, but he is a strategical genius and happens to be godzilla as well. Lol, but more than anything I just like his personality, I guess.

I voted for Hakuoro (of course) but Im a big fan of the kicking female characters so Karura and Touka also got my votes. I actually didnt like Touka when she first appeared plus in the OP I thought she was a guy XD But I love her fighting techinque. She and Karura can take on anyone.

I spread my vote around since I found many characters endearing and felt they each managed to shine in their own way. I wanted to vote for more of the characters, but some of them didn't manage to garner my affection in the same manner even though I'm certain they are no less great.

I suppose I should've waited till the end of the series, since other characters may really stand out between now and then.

Ack, I'm the first who voted for Yuzuha? Poor Yuzu-cchi, aw...but I'm sure the few who love Yuzuha love her greatly (ie. Oboro!).

A favorite villain poll might be interesting, since most of the characters on this poll are protagonists.

I like basically all the main heroes of this series. I voted Eruuruu, Dori, Gura, Karura, and Touka, but I still like pretty much everyone else, from Benawi to Aruuruu to Hakauro. And yes, Oboro! :p He is kind of a knucklehead, but I kinda like that his fighting tactics mainly lay in foolishly rushing in. Granted, I figured by this point in the series he'd become a smarter fighter. He is like the character Warrior from 8-bit theatre. :D

I'd have to say that Genjimaru is a BEAST character because he is wicid name brand, and definitely should be on a poll for favorite character because he is definitely present more than like -5 times and everything. BEASTing after that, I'd have to say Beast (Hakuoro), Eruruu and Aruruu were probably my second favorite characters (after Genjumaru of course). What about the BEAST axe guy who just beasts around and smashes other non-beasts with his beast (axe)? Oyaji as he was called for his beast man status, he got smashed, true, but he was still a key beastsett (asset) to the beast (growing empire) which of course, is just a BEAST that now smashes around.

I am still on episode 22.., because well the *cough* *cough* have been coming out pretty late.., hence I was hopeing to first catch up and then after post here my 3 favorite list.

Also, partialy reason for this is aswell is.., like my friend Ichy said.. Dii is a Great Villian :)

I've always felt bad for him not having been included in the voting list.., because, to me.., and I say this without having gone beyond episode 22 yet.., he has been a great character.

Dii has always been pulling the strings behind the curtains, and that sinister & cold look he has is just amazing.
Above all though.., its his attitude that portrays the best about him.., quiet, calculative, cold & mysterious..., all great aspects that just "build" what to me is the stunning antagonist.

Altough we have not seen much of him in the series, since all of his impact will most certanly take place near the ending episodes..; which is also the explination that I belive why he was not placed in the list..

In the end.., out of all the characters we have seen in Uta-mono.., Dii is definitly by far one of the more interesting ones..., and needless to say that.., to me.. one of the top 3 best definitly :)

I don't know now if the outcome of the last episodes will influence the change in the list to add him or not.., however.., since I am still a bit behind, I will wait until the end to post my other 2.

I will include Dii no matter what though ;)

I love Antagonists.., they are (to me anyway) the best type of character that a story can give us.., but Only provided they are featured with a very complexed phsicology...; something that diferentiates them from "ordinary villians" sort of speak..

What I mean here is.., the True Reasons behind the Actions, All Actions, and Attitude included aswell..
The more complexed they are.., the more I love them..., and well.. Dii portrays alot of these aspects.

Altough I have not gone further enough to comprove my assumptions here.., based on what I have seen of him so far.., and of what I read on a few spoilers..; ends up (partialy) why I see him in a much more phsicologicaly complexed way then Any other of Uta-mono's antagonists and characters.

And the more I think about it.. it realy is unfortunate that he is not part of the list :sad:

I have a feeling we may be let down by expecting too complex a motivation from Dii; right now he just seems to me to be like the scholar who delved too deep and got possessed by a god who wants revenge.But I'm probably totally wrong. :heh: I like his coldness tho. I think, according to 24, he is just doing these stuff according to a contract, and rather coldly too; very much apart from any emotion. Maybe thats what I like in antagonist. OMG YOU MADE ME LIKE DII!!! :heh:

Finally giving my complete answer to my favorite characters (all in order):

1. Eruruu - the voice fits the body so well (an attractive body at that = O ). She's not the kind of girl that screams and cries an awful lot, but she's not your typical maid either. Eruruu has moments where she acts on impulse, moments where she doesn't care what the results may be. She plays a very noble role, and it was exciting to watch her evolve from a very reserved individual who was afraid to make any moves on Hakuoro to begin with into one that became open and extremely confident. It was probably a little too late to change the events in episode 26, but she made the most of what she had, and it makes her very Human.

2. Hakuoro - Smart, strong, noble. The larger-than-life qualities that I wish I had more of can be found in this man. He wields a totally original weapon (or at least an atypical one) and really understands a lot about the nature of things from warfare to chemistry. I guess he has the sex drive of a dead fish, but it's nice to see men with their balls in check (Sagara Sousuke, anyone?)...which makes him all the more irresistable to the women of Utawarerumono...those who were interested in him, anyway (Karura and Eruruu being the most obvious). Lose the mask, get your original hair back, and he'll be totally styling.

I am the other way around, finished the anime, just starting the game now. It is interesting to see the differences...but one thing I really enjoyed when watching it was Aruruu's "cute" scenes. I think they were effective precisely because she seems more like a real kid would be than most anime characters...rather than an adult in a child's body. They served as a great foil to the battles and dark themes. It made it seem more real to me for some reason...or maybe just more gripping. I definitely suggest you check the anime out.
