I'm looking for an anime that's just sweet, cute, and has a heartwarming story.
Can have some comedy but not to the extent where comedy is dominant over the sweetness/cuteness.

Examples would be Aishiteru ze Baby and Hanbu no Tsuki Ga Noboru Sora (Hantsuki).

Shinigami no Ballad, by far and away. Once you get past the first episode, it's heartwarming all the way. C'mon, you can't get better than a story about a death-goddess who easily cries about the misfortunes of humans.

Someday's Dreamers is a bit old, but still cool. So old that I don't really remember what happens in the end, but the two things I do remember is that it's about a girl who comes to tokyo to be a mage and that the last (or was it the second last?) episode drove me to tears, not because I was sad but because it was heartwarming.

The Mizuiro 2003 OVA is short and sweet, with animation that's still amazing even to this day. Since it's only 2 episodes, can't say too much or it'll spoil the story.


EDIT: Haibane Renmei just came into mind, as well.

I always thought that Honey and Clover was heartwarming and sweet. (Season one, not season two)

The ultimate heart warming and sweet anime with a dash of comedy is ARIA: The Animation and the 2nd season ARIA: The Natural. Most of the other series mentioned so far also has some sad parts and downers as well, but this series is only positive. Its a mood lifter for a rainy day.

Twin Spica.

TWIN SPICA.

It has a kind of melancholy atmosphere, which Hantsuki also had. It's definately heartwarming.

You could watch Kanon or just wait for the release of the remake version Kanon 2006.

I will give a very big second to Aria the Animation (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2659)/Aria the Natural (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4243) and add Kamichu! (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=3195), which is just the ultimate in the cute/sweet/heartwarming genre.

Ahh sorry alreayd watched Shinigami No Ballad and already watching Honey and Clover and Bokura Ga Ita. I'll check up on the animes you all suggested ^^ thanks
