Can't see much wrong with it. Looks good, but feels a bit chatty in places, like I'm listening to a narrator rather than reading an actual story. You need to do more "show" than "tell" in other words. It's something I get harped at a lot about and it's an easy form to fall into because showing is a lot harder than it sounds since we naturally use the "tell" form in our everyday speach. So it's a bit more challenging to do for certain, but not impossible. I've got a bunch of novels under my belt to prove it too. :D
