What a day! Not only do we have the Video Games Live concert news (scroll down), but the confirmation of Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix!!
The latest issue of the Japanese magazine V-JUMP has published two screenshots & information regarding the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix. Although not much information was given about the game, it will feature English dubbed voices( :D ), plus a whole variety of new content (e.g. cutscenes).

While the news is good, it's not at all unexpected imho. After all, there is a history of RPGs being re-released in Japan with features that were added for North American versions of the game, but were not included in the original Japanese release, as well as additional features that those of us not in the 'land of the Rising Sun' will never get to see (short of importing the games) on North American shores.
So...while I am pleased to hear about a Final Mix version of KHII coming out, I'm also somewhat indifferent about it at the same time since I will [more than likely] never get a chance to play it (my Japanese is essentially non-existent and even with english dubbed voices, I don't have a Japanese PS2 to play the game with) unless they release it over in the west. I don't really see that happening though...didn't happen with FFX and KH: Final Mix... :upset:
I really wish Square-Enix would stop pulling that "Japan-only rerelease with cool new stuff" bullshit with their games...
After buying Kingdom Hearts : Final Mix , I have to get this too...

Chain Of Memories Direct Game? Maybe it's will be avaiable as Extra Stuff after finish first time the Game or May be avaiable on Difficult Settings?

well i'm still bloody waiting for my copy of KH2...which should arrive next month here in Australia.
i remember reading how the european version of KH1 came with stuff from final mix of the jap version

Actually the KH CoM is a full on PS2 remake of it.
Which is why I think it'll be touching upon US shores.

Ways to improve KH2
1) Allow us to see what on earth is written in Ansem Report 0
2) Change Aerith's voice actor.
Now getting on topic, this is good news, good enough for me to demand that EB allows me to preorder it, even though they don't know about KH2 Final Mix yet.

there are some rumors going around that the creator of kingdom hearts wants the U.S. region to experience the japanese voice acting of kingdom hearts....just like how kingdom hearts: final mix exposed the Japanese to english voices....so it could come down here.....and i hope it does, i wanna see that new secret movie.....it looks like someone familiar that we all know.......

but i dunno if its even high enough for it to reach US
we only can find out when E three hits this spring
which will also be downgraded due to the latest reports of the event being too big last year
but i think we have a possibility of KH two: final mix coming to US
remember the creator of KINGDOM HEARTS wants the AMERICAN region to experience the japanese voice acting

well E3 isn't really E3 anymore, and it starts in July now, not May. So will probably find out then, if it's going to happen or not, when SE holds its closed door press conference.
Business wise, it makes sense, since KH2 sold well in America. However KH sold well in America too, but we didn't see KH:FM released over here..

Well it depends, it added in some plots, cut scenes, boss fight, abilities, weapons, gameplay tweaks,etc, but really outside of the Deep Dive video and Unknown fight, which gave insight into KH2, it wasn't that big to me. However, others may say different.
Still, it was funny the game was in English, with Japanese subtitles, and yet, they still didn't release it in America...which is kind of dashing my hopes for them to release KH2 FM for America...
It actually makes sense though, if they never really released the first KH-FM what would give them the reasons to release a KH2-FM.
They were probably considering the fact that who would pay another $50 to play a game they already played/owned but with new added plots and cutscenes.
Well the Japanese bought it up, and I actually think KH sold more in the US than it did in Japan, but I'm not 100% sure on that, so yea.
Besides, SE has been hashing out remakes, of pretty much the same game, for a while now. Like FF3 for instance :P They're just playing favorites :(

Please don't be so evil to me but in my opinion... that sure doesn't feel like Kingdom Hearts to me at all. :/ Alot has changed since Kingdom Hearts 2, I kinda miss how it was on KH.
It's ok I already knew ahead of time that the three wearing the mask couldn't be sora or his gang, cause in KH:FMII you get to fight one of them (the big one) as the secret boss.
Forget FMII, waiting for KH3 whoohoo.

As for FM+, I'd love to see it here stateside, mostly because of all the extra stuff they put in it.
Plus the challenge to finishing the game is much more fun this time. Might I mention how GODLY HARD the new extra bosses are?

But that is the same feeling that you get when you watch the secrete movie of KH1. I liked this new secret movie. Someone else thought that the knight that got frozen looked like Roxas?

ASAS and DD were slightly more awesome secret endings possibly. I think the thing about those movies was the enigmatic feel to interpreting them at the time.
Sunset Horizons and Birth By Sleep (henceforth to be called SH and BBS according to the doctrine of GameFAQs) don't quite have that same feel to them, but the sheer amount of action and badassery makes up for that. :D
They're also making more acronyms for the chars from SH and BBS:
ES = Enigmatic Soldier
This is the "main" knight. This is the knight who's armor is black, gold, and red. He's the knight you fight in KH2: FM+. In Sunset Horizons he picks up the Kingdom Key. Without his helmet, he bears a slight resemblance to Xehanort and appears to be able to change his original blue eye color to yellow.
BHK = Blonde Hair Knight
This knight holds his keyblade upside down. His armor looks black, orange, and bronze. In Sunset Horizons, he picks up Way to the Dawn. In BBS, he gets turned to stone, but is still alive. He looks identical to Roxas.
FK = Female Knight
Her armor is black, magenta, and silver. In Sunset Horizons, she picks up the Inverse Key. In BBS, she casts super versions of lightning and reflect. She also saves BHK near the end of the video.
BM = Bald Man
The insane-looking bald dude looks criminally insane and wears clothes identical to the ones Xehanort's Heartless were wearing. He has yellow eyes and pointed ears just like Xigbar's and Saix's. He's able to split himself into another being and wields a keyblade, which he turns into some sort of spell that either creates or reveals Kingdom Hearts.
DSU = Dark Suit Unknown
The being that split from BM. He wears clothes that are almost the same as Riku's Dark Suit, only the blue parts are red, there's no Heartless symbol, the hula skirt is black, and he wears a helmet. Like the knights, we uses a keyblade.

I kinda agree with you. Maybe it's because it didn't have any identifiable characters I've grown to really like (though that one really did look like Roxas. Hope they don't bring him back just so he can get ganked again), or that it was essentially Deep Dive again, only in the desert.

sweet....I was hoping I could find a higher quality version of this. I watched 10 seconds of the vid over at Kotaku and realized that I simply couldn't do this to myself. Square CG doesn't mix with YouTube.
Oh man...just watched it. I swear- Nomura and the Advent Children team just have a style of choreography and drama that is my visual ideal.
I would have no problem at all with KHIII having a more serious/darker tone. While KH has been advertised as a mix between FF and Disney, I always felt that there was no balance. Tons of Disney with occasional FF cameos. I would love a more in-depth story nomura-style with DISNEY cameos. If used cleverly, they could really punctuate key scenes and be much more effective than I think they've been in the first two games. Don't get me wrong- I very much enjoyed the first two, but at some point, the procession of worlds starts to feel like re-hashes of movies- some of which weren't very good to begin with (Tarzan?).
Yup, KHIII needs to be on the PS3. After watching that, I refuse to settle for less. White Engine is just asking to be unleashed in that game.
I wouldn't mind playing a KH side quest or prequel on the Wii, though. Just give me a next-gen looking KHIII, that's all I ask Square :/

Thanks. I hope we get to play as her, or at least have her in our party. I rather prefer the party that was present in that movie, more so, than the typical Donald and Goofy party we've been used to in the first 2.
It should be optional to customize your own team. Why should we be restricted to just Donald and Goofy all (most) the time. It should be whoever you meet along the way you can call them to the fight.
"You got a teleportation cell phone, cool we got your number we'll give you a call when we need you."
That's how it should be. And with multiple characters to choose from equals to multiple scenes with different characters interactions.
Yup, that's true Kayos. It would be different if we had a set party like in Final Fantasy or something, but in KH you're always coming in contact with new "temporary" party members. So I don't get why there isn't a option to customize your own party. We partied up once before, why not all the time?
They should copy Bioware's party system in KOTOR or something.

we got a secret movie with three knights picking up three keyblades
but in this one
its the same knights but they aren"t holding the keyblades that they picked up in the First secret movie
plus now with the introduction of maybe the new "bad guy" in the third installment
he"s wearing xenohart"s uniform!!!
plus who is this mysterious black soldier who appeared to give the mystery old man a hand??
but i think that this secret movie is telling us the past of what happend with the war of the keyblades
thus we have king mickey without his true keyblade(unless it has transformed into its many forms through its keychain)
and that the secret movie that we all saw in kingdom hearts two
thats they future or current time that will happen in kingdom hearts three
just my opinion
i really do hope final mix+ does make it to the states
but we may find out in this years E-3
plus the idea of customizing your party instead of goofy and donald being there all the time isn"t a bad idea either!!

Remember Deep Dive from KH Final Mix featuring the battle between Riku and Roxas ? Didn't actually happen and the design for Roxas turns out to be something else.
What the new vid does is giving everyone hopes that there's certainly a KH3 being planned out and give SEX an avenue to proceed with the project.

You know the tallest knight could also be the real Xehanort, he has the same hairstyle just no long hair and it's brown instead of white. Who knows....

I wish that KH3 will be on Wii and you play it like TP and your party members are AI like in FFXII :eyespin: I am hopelessly addicted to swing weapons on the Wii for some reason :uhoh:
but then I don't hope to have only 1 gaming console in the market place because it would not have any innovation in the world of gaming at all, just like win 95 to 98 to me, so very pointless....

"First, it's not Kingdom Hearts III," Nomura told Dengeki PlayStation. "Of course, because we're calling it a 'new' series, it won't be KHIII. Also, it's a series, so it probably won't be just one title." According to Eurogamer, this new title is still expected to share some similarities with the popular Kingdom Hearts series, though.
Nomura also hinted that some of the characters in the Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix secret movie will be connected in some way to the new series. Square Enix is expected to shed more light on the new project later this year.

Sounds more like the next game won't be "Kingdom Hearts III", but rather a related spin-off. That means "KH3" won't be the next game in the series I guess.

This doesn't conflict with the idea that "Kingdom Hearts will always be Sora's story," especially if the forthcoming game is not going to be released as a Kingdom Hearts title.
That video was uber exciting, at any rate (thanks to those of you who provided it!). I love the looks of all three main characters, especially the girl; it's about time we had a really cute chick who gets to wear armor and hold her own in battle in this kind of story. The evil bald guy... not so much. At least he's a step away from the typical bishounen villain, though.

I still think that KH II's biggest wasted potential was not making it a dual-perspective game, with Sora still on his Riku/Kairi journey, while at the same time, playing Roxas finding his true self and Sora. Considering Sora revisits the worlds again anyway, why can't they make Roxas visit them instead? It'd make for better dynamics. Not to mention a epic boss fight clash between Sora and Roxas would've been really awesome. It'd also fit the plothole on how Sora has technically...weakened compared to KH I, and when the 2 combine following the fight, Sora becomes the sky-scrapper cutting, wall-running badass he was at the end of KH II.
Yeah, I also didn' like how Sora/Namine became Roxas/Namine. They're 2 different people, even if they are of one.
I'm still rooting out for Roxas though. You go, emo boy!

Not to mention a epic boss fight clash between Sora and Roxas would've been really awesome. It'd also fit the plothole on how Sora has technically...weakened compared to KH I, and when the 2 combine following the fight, Sora becomes the sky-scrapper cutting, wall-running badass he was at the end of KH II.
I'm still rooting out for Roxas though. You go, emo boy!

Final Mix+ gives you a lot of the omitted Roxas and Org. XIII material including cutscenes (albeit not voiced-over in either Japanese or English), including the epic Sora vs. Roxas fight that everyone wanted. The Org. XIII members that were off'ed in Chain of Memories are also fightable now. Then to add onto that, one of the new maps in Hollow Bastion is a room that lets you recreate ALL of the Org. XIII battles, from Xemnas to Roxas, I-XIII.
Of course these fights are freakishly hard, but supposedly nothing compared to the REAL secret boss, who has ties to the next game (like Xemnas/Enigmatic Man in the first Final Mix).
But then again there are people who have beaten some of them already, and there's already a vid on Youtube with someone beating the Enigmatic Solider. And it's only been a week since the release.

There are? I stand corrected then. I thought the only things new were the Chain of Memories + Boss Knight + Extra Cutscenes/Viewing thing.
Doesn't really change my sour feelings during the KH II experience, but this has clearly spiked my interest.

well i'm still kinda disappointed from the fact that the new trailer isn't a trailer for Kingdom Hearts III but rather a new trailer for a completely new series revolving around the idea of Kingdom Hearts.....
but i'm still believing in the fact that
the secret movie shown in Kingdom Hearts II is the current future after Kingdom Hearts II and the new secret movie that we all saw was the past involving the war of the keyblades and those knights!!
anyways mickey shown without his original Keyblades shows that fact that he wasn't still king and was still being trained under that wizard guy....from that "Fantasia" movie with Mickey...
kinda funny if that letter that Sora and company received at the end of Kingdom Hearts II was an announcement from Mickey that he won't be starring in the next "Kingdom Hearts" game....
oh wells, but i will still buy this game when its ready for release....as it will still be connected to Kingdom Hearts but in a different way....
It's not a trailer, it's a teaser. It's just teasing you with some new characters. For all I know KH is pretty much over. The princessessssssss were saved the kingdom was saved, there's really nothing else to do in Kingdom Hearts.
Now the series is taking a turn, the first two KH was about saving Mickey's Kingdom from the Heartless. Job's done, nothing left. Now we're diving into the keyblade war where everyone and their mothers are keyblade holder.
But if you really want to know the plot of the next one:
the answer is under your nose and you don't even know it ^_~
As long as it's on the PS3, I don't really care wtf it is.

Uhh... no one knows, it is suppose to add to the suspense of things. Just to let you know that king Mickey is in need of their service again. But for a different mission... maybe.
Well it depends, it added in some plots, cut scenes, boss fight, abilities, weapons, gameplay tweaks,etc, but really outside of the Deep Dive video and Unknown fight, which gave insight into KH2, it wasn't that big to me. However, others may say different.
Still, it was funny the game was in English, with Japanese subtitles, and yet, they still didn't release it in America...which is kind of dashing my hopes for them to release KH2 FM for America...

well its been one year since kingdom hearts 2 was released and only today i found out it got turned into "greatest hits"
E-3 will be the only event that we'll get to know if Kingdom Hearts 2 final mix+ will be released for US this year...or we might get an announcement before E-3 arrives...
only time will tell
and after watching the new secret ending trailer for about 20 times...i think i give up on trying to make sense of what turn the "kingdom hearts" series is taking...oh wells

Sadly no, I've been sick from running around in the rain like a headless chicken. It's getting close to my graduation but yeah it would be nice to see them grow some more, the kids I mean, not the immortals (Donald, Goofy, Mickey).
