Damn that doujin was pretty darn good.
Summary:
Physics-based weapons proliferate regardless of the magitech camp's efforts, culminating in the total destruction of Battalion 108, and the death of Genya. Thereafter, the opposition to adopting combat cyborgs as the main battle strength of the TSAB against the terrorists began to wane.
At the end of the year, at the council that was set to refuse the adoption of combat cyborgs again, Hayate with her like-minded comrades staged a coup d'etat against the TSAB, taking over the reins and installing Graham as the new leader of the TSAB in place of the High Council, getting the TSAB to adopt the combat cyborgs and physics weapons. Empowered by that, she also frees Jail, and gains the tech to mass produce the first batch of combat cyborgs.
But right before, Fate discovers the plot and immediately contacts all the people who were once under her, starting with those of RF6, and stages an exodus of armed members out of Midchilda, among them being Shari, Subaru, Caro and Erio. She also contacts the leadership, and tells them that she has, with some other members, left TSAB in protest of that, and asks for reinstating of the old laws and the release of the council members under custody. However, TSAB's new leadership deletes all their records of ever being in the Bureau, labeling them as rebels and illegally armed fugitives.
Hayate in the meantime starts a new unit in memory of the old Battalion 108, comprising the combat cyborgs, which comes to get the nickname 'Yagami Corps'.

Fate is calling for a retreat from advancing enemies, when she sees some subordinates flying over for s suicide attack. She decides to join, but Erio and Caro, being selfish, stop her. Her aide then spots the cyborgs making way for someone, and seconds later comes the GN bazooka.
Fate thinks that Nanoha has been threatened with either Yuuno or Vivio, but Nanoha says it's her own choice. This time its Fate with her befriending speech: "Never mind, I'll take my time listening, after I beat you that is!" Nanoha gets her down easily though, real confident about that. Cue Caro+Erio. Nanoha scores them like in days past, even telling Erio that he's got good timing. Then Subaru comes in.

Vita comes in and saves Nanoha, and relaying an order from Hayate to return from battle: "Gimme a break, you think it's fun being soaked in the blood that you cough out every morning? You're never gonna fly again at this rate. You too RH, how many times are you gonna let your master have her back to the enemy?"
At this point, Chrono comes in with his fleet and does a Diethard. He intercepts the communications and broadcasts the news of the secret use of cyborgs to all Bureau personnel, who aren't all in the know. He also calls upon the secession of all armed members to join him and the Saint Church and proclaims the independence of a new state, called the "Saint's Union" from the jurisdiction of the Bureau. And everyone defects.
Chrono then ponders upon whether to crown the head of state. Carim objects, to which Vivio comes in and demonstrates some character, allowing herself to be crowned.
END. An abrupt one too.:p

Mmm, judging from their blog, the artist for the Nyanoha comics was at C74 and came back a day or so ago, so I'm expecting either something to pop up soon or something will pop up in a while.

I fifth it~ From the scans of Satashi I've seen, they've been pretty good to work with. Though, I think I remember there's a spot on the scanner where there was some reddish speck of dirt on it, but it's no biggie. ;P

I think it is reversed. It's the Physics-based weapons-ban indirectly wiped out the Battalion 108. General public and all local government start to question if the ban on physics-based weapon really can protect their world and ask the council to lift that ban. After a few vote on this issue, the council finally agree to lift the ban. At the same time release Jail in order to start mass-produce the combat cyborgs. Fate, knowing this, declare herself and some of her team to leave TSAB and demand the council to reconsider that. But the council just delete Fate's service record and declare her as a rebel and launch a attack on them.

I don't really understand what's going on, but it felt epic.
This is it? This is the uber-hyped megadoujin everyone's wasted all their time gushing about for the past few weeks? Because I am not impressed in the slightest.
Where's my Nanoha vs Fate smackdown? Subaru and Mach Caliber getting another Crowning Moment of Awesome is all well and good, but I was expecting an epic slugfest between Blaster Mode Nanoha and Sonic Drive Fate, not a pithy little catfight with Caro/Erio/Subaru having to save Fate's ass at the last second when Fate hasn't even started to get warmed up. And Hayate not only continues to get shafted as a combatant but gets painted as the villain who freaking instigated this whole thing. That's called character assassination, my friends, and I do not appreciate it being applied to one of my favorite characters.
Truly Utterly Epic Fail. That is all.

For starters, Comartemis, it's not a waste of time. We all know and expect it to be having plot holes here and there. There will be discrepancies on how the Aces take their stands. However, it is indeed slightly better than our original expectations, so it has its due credits there.
Secondly, everything needs not be given in entirety. The fact that it leaves the story hanging at the climax either means that there's a sequel, or we're supposed to let our imaginations run free on the possible endings. It's food for thought. Take it or leave it.
The "shafting" may or not be intentional. Constraints, restrictions, and other factors have influence on how authors write their stories. They can decide to leave some characters unpolished so that you can polish it yourself. You should know this yourself.
Whether it's utter epic fail or not is up to everyone else to decide. You have your say on the matter.

That's correct there. My initial summary saying that cyborgs being the countermeasure against the terrorists is wrong. The push was for both the cyborgs and physics weapons to be legitimised.
After a few vote on this issue, the council finally agree to lift the ban. At the same time release Jail in order to start mass-produce the combat cyborgs.
That's where the coup d'etat comes in. The vote was still expected to end up not supporting the legitimisation, but Hayate and co. reversed that by putting some of the higher-ranked members under protective custody.
Fate, knowing this, declare herself and some of her team to leave TSAB and demand the council to reconsider that. But the council just delete Fate's service record and declare her as a rebel and launch a attack on them.
That's my huge mistake there. To add, she called upon the higher leadership to reconsider its decision and also to release the members under custody as well.

Comar, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean its not good. You said you expected an epic battle between Nanoha and Fate but i don't recall the author ever promising something like that. You yourself believed in the hype and when you saw the doujin, you found it lacking but is that the author's fault or yours?
Also we don't even have a proper translation of the story yet... and this is clearly (To me) not the entire story. Please remember that the first few episodes of Nanoha S1 wasn't that good as well (in my opinion) but after Fate came in, it quickly turned better (also in my opinion).
A doujin is in essence a fanfic and what I seen so far is totally plausible. Sure there are a few plot holes mentioned, but I would like to see at least the entire translation before labelling it a failure or not. Like a lot of things, there is too much unsaid, too much unknown.
Lastly calling it an epic failure is way beyond rude in my opinion Comar. If you think its really that bad, perhaps you should try your hand at making a better story.

Heh. We're like oposite sides here. :heh: I was dreading that the artist would turn it into yet another NanoFate doujin, and shaft all the other characters. And I was glad to find out that Fate got a token fight, much atention was spend on the other characters as well. Subaru damn near scored a hit if Vita hadn't interfered, that was a really tense page. :D

I think it was the artist playing on the final episode of StrikerS, where Hayate and her friends are talking about Regius, and Accous said 'No matter the type of feelings or thoughts you have, if they become too strong it'll betray your purpose'
What Hayate was doing wasn't wrong. They tried to bring peace back to a land that was torn by chaos and death. They just did it in a way others didn't like.

I think the action was pretty decent for StrikerS' standard, but I should agree with you, the fighting scene between Nanoha and Fate was a complete disappointment, the kids having to come to save her was ridiculous, I even felt ashamed of the author when I saw that scene.
Anyway without being able to read the Japanese from this doujin, it seems good. I don't think I can consider it "an Epic Fail", I dislike how this author draws facial expressions (specially speaking of Fate-chan, she looks ugly in some panels), but overall I think the artistic quality is good, and without doubting a moment is better than the standard Nanoha H-doujin.
If someone from this site wants to translate this doujin, the problem will be that it's not your usual 20P doujinshi, but it has 70 pages instead, and the text density per page seems to be higher than the average as well, so I don't know if the work will worth it. We wish you luck with that :heh:
BTW we will have more NanoFate scanlations going out soon at our site, so look forward to them ^^

To those disappointed by the story then labeling it as fail .Instead of sitting around and keeping on pimping that your vision of an universe gonna be good, awesome and epic, just write it down, public will then judge if it delivered or not.
And when I say, write it down. I don't mean a summary, or something like that. But actually the beginning of a story.

I don't think so.
The reason why Fate chan was saved by the "kids" was soley based on her mentality at that point. If you think about it, she has been through so much with Nanoha as a friend (or more than that if you count on the words of fanboys) that the decision to fight her in a battle of death again becomes something of a worse case scenario. Looking at it on the surface you only see how she was disappoining to be "defeated" so easily but I would think that her mentality isn't exactly the best.
How long has this war been going for? How many people has died? How many more times must they fight like this? Wouldn't it just be easier to give up?
With those kind of thoughts going through her mind she seems to have come to the conclusion to just let Nanoha blast her as a way of escaping this "endless, torturing pain."
As you know though, Fate chan isn't a leader...she much prefers to follow orders. But perhaps the order to kill Nanoha was too much? From what I can see it looks like Fate chan wasn't giving it her all in that fight at all (otherwise such puny binds would have been broken easily). I believe this is one great role reversal from the old Fate chan to when she is now grown up. Back in S1 it was Nanoha who saved her from darkness, now it is her turn.

Heh. We're like oposite sides here. :heh: I was dreading that the artist would turn it into yet another NanoFate doujin, and shaft all the other characters. And I was glad to find out that Fate got a token fight, much atention was spend on the other characters as well. Subaru damn near scored a hit if Vita hadn't interfered, that was a really tense page. :D
Thing is I was expecting a full-blown Nanoha vs Fate throwdown of epic proportions, like the ongoing fight between Archer and Archerko in Sword Dancers. I don't know if you saw the BetrayerS homepage, Kero, but the way the teaser scenes and storyline synopsis led up to that two-page Nano/Fate spectacle at the end felt distinctly like a movie trailer showcasing what the doujin was supposed to be all about; there's a reason for Nanoha and Fate to fight again, so now they're going to go at each other "with their balls out and hair on fire" as I believe the saying goes. Sadly this is a case of the trailer being more awesome than the actual product it was advertising.
Or to put it another way: imagine watching one of the movie trailers for The Dark Knight and getting all hyped up about it, then going to watch it in theaters only to discover that the Joker is nothing but a bit character and Batman spends the whole movie beating up thugs. That's kind of like what BetrayerS felt like to me.

I was challenged to use Otto and shop her into a male OC, and I've done it, but the next time somebody says Otto is a perfect reverse trap, they are cake-ing! It took a lot of pinching and pulling, erasing and pasting and even then the goddamned corset was in the way!

It's TK who tells you that, not me. :p Franz is a primarily melee user with some ranged combat skills, mostly so that he can trade fire with the enemy until he gets into rage.
Besides, when I say artillery, I'm talking about forward observers guiding Hayate's shots, spotting for her, like that snippet of TF6 that I posted in the OC thread. Most mages tend to believe the one-man-army hype.

Two, with all the villains out in the open and wielding power at the Bureau, Chronos and gang plus the church had a reason to split from the Bureau to form their own state, a reason "good" enough to persuade huge chunks of the worlds and military forces to defect to the new state.
It's a very "dark" strategy and one that will destroy Hayate, Nanoha etc's reputation and standing in the history books. But even though they will go down in history as "Betrayers," the theory is that they will have done more than any other people to remove the threat of conventional weapons forever, as well as facilitate the creation of a new, better administration body headed by Emperor Vivio.

Yup, 'fraid to say so but it comes from a hardcore loli doujin. I like Huan's work--it's clean and neat and has a nice style to the artwork--but I'd like it better if he'd keep that faceless guy of his away from our favorite little girls. They can get into all kinds of fun on their own, no faceless pedos required. :naughty:
I'd like to point out that in such doujins, the faceless paedo is supposed to represent the reader. :uhoh:

True, but I like loli Nano/Fate more for the unstoppable moe quotient than for any sexual content such doujins contain. Pure Nano/Fateness is always more attractive to me than Nano/Fate/someguy.

I love how it's so hard for Alisa to be honest about her feelings. That scene in the first season where Suzuka tried to get her to admit that she cares for Nanoha was so sweet. I hope we'll see some of that in the upcoming movie.

I had that problem, and still have that problem with Erio, Caro and Lutecia. I don't know... unlike Vivio who actually has a plotpoint being young, they just seem to be there to please the loli/shouta fans. I wish they had used them propperly to convey what Fate has been going through raising them, which was their original intent.
Teana and Subaru conquered my heart though, but then, I've finished all of StrikerS several times. It's not as bad as the nay-sayers keep saying, sure it has its flaws, but for me, StrikerS is better then the first season any day.

As for Nanoha... well, she took baths with Yuuno even after she knew he was really a human boy, so its clear she doesn't care anyway. :p

Though, contrary to what you might think, I never dropped the series due to any nay-sayers. I was caught up in a lot of other things at the time and simply never finished it due to a complete lack of interest.

Neither do I. StrikerS weren't bad however have certain things that annoyed me. But still it's recommended to finish them.
It did start to get messy(with such a big cast, it's not surprising.)

Yes generally so, but they spent to much time on "training episodes", which adds no content to the anime, and could have been spent on developing the individual cast's stories instead, moving the overall story forward, or for more NanoFate yuri scenes. Training is best when left "in the background".

The Time on the picture was probably the date the screenshot of the desktop was taken, which doesn't have to be the same day that it was posted to 4chan. Like I said above, I also agree that it is pretty cool.
