Nietono no Shana seems to have gotten a nice addition, I feel like Nyanoha right now, I love how BJ means Barrier Jacket because seeing BJ and フェイなの made me confused, Bardiche is the luckiest device ever, it's nice to see Nanoha tied up every now and then and I WANT THOSE PAPER CRAFT THINGS.

Her hair and eyes tones look as a mixture of Nanoha's and Fate's, also her barrier jacket looks like an alternative and dark version of Vivio's, which is already inspired in Nanoha's and Fate's, so I think the odds are in favor of she being an original character who is supposed to be Vivio's sister, and (genetic) daughter of Nanoha and Fate. Probably inspired in a fic, since this scenario is not rare at all.

I think I see it more like a shade of blue, maybe gray, but not green or red like Vivio's.

It's the simplest explanation and makes sense in the series as it does happen often (Fate, Vivio...).

Muu, I guess I'll edit the Setsubun comic, so expect it a little later today or tomorrow. I keep forgetting I said I'd edit the last chapter of the StrikerS manga, too, mostly because I remember how the pages were full of icky artifacts.
I changed a few things, like nut to bean, so here's hoping someone will correct them further as I don't know much about Setsubun. Or how to read and translate moonrunes.

But no, I was talking about some other features, like Ix having no straightend up hair on top of her head and she normaly features these unique horn like side wisps.

I doubt it though... aside from the obvious physical differences (even if doujinshi artists aren't always that great with coloring, I'm having trouble accepting doujinshi artists mistaking dark orange for light brown <_<) there are other problems as well. Subaru present for one, even though she's Ix's greatest link. Heck, with the way Hayate's arm is supporting the girls back, she might be Hayate child as well.
A daughter of the three? That's got my support right there. :3

If below statement is true, dark orange - light brown is one of the hardest to see, from personal experience.

Even if they are, not asking for help on something like this flies above me. Getting characters right are kinda fundamental, especially if it's FAN art.

Well, a lot of people tend to not ask for help on things like translating for various reasons, like being too stubborn to ask. Or they're just drawing to get their image/idea out and don't really care about colouring correctly, like if it's for a SS/fanfic. Or something.
If her hair is red maybe it's secretly Keroko...? :uhoh:
Keroko being well-known to the Japanese fan base would be pretty cool.

It's just that kana is not a part of the Chinese writing system. As far as I know, kana names are usually replaced with some other kanji in the Chinese translation (I have seen this happen in Chinese subtitles). Also, I think it's kind of bizarre to say it's more faithful to the original this way... That would be like me writing なのは and フェイトちゃん instead of "Nanoha" and "Fate-chan" in English and claiming it to be more faithful.

I am so used to see their names written in kana that I would not have any problem with that, just that it would stand out significantly among a translation in any language using the Roman alphabet. And concerning "Nanoha" and "Fate", they are official translations of their names, that we see everywhere in magazines, posters, ID Cards, so we don't need to rely on the kana form. In the other hand, I don't know if there is any translation available in Chinese and if just leaving the original names among a Chinese translation really do look so fuuny :rolleyes:...
But we will need a Chinese point of view to answer that ^^".

Sure, I can read Japanese too, but the point is it's not an English translation when you leave the Japanese text in. I expect it's the same for Chinese. We happen to have official English romanizations of their names, but if we didn't, I'll bet you anything translators would have made something up. Similarly, even if there aren't official Chinese equivalents, that doesn't mean they have to use the Japanese.
I'd like to hear a Chinese point of view on this one too, by the way. ;)

Of course, you do realize that means the death of Fate-chan as well, right? Better leave out the -chan from now on whenever you write a name. :p

I beg to differ. Japanese dialogue has no place in an English fic, unless the writer is proficient in Japanese (lest he embarrasses himself as so many such writers do) as well as his intended readers. Otherwise, what's the point aside from showing off his "elite" knowledge of the language? There's a reason you don't see professional writers doing this.
In the case of suffixes like "chan" and "kun", the line is a little more blurred, in my opinion, since these terms have no direct translation, and most of the intended readers are familiar with them anyway.

Either that or the translator is too deeply in love with the original hira/katagana form to change them. But personally, I agree with Jimmy.
Just in case anyone's interested, for most Chinese translations I've seen so far, Nanoha is usually rendered as 奈叶, Fate as 菲特 and Hayate as 疾风. The "-chan" honorific is either ignored or rendered as 酱, eg. Fate-chan -> 菲特酱.
To me, this is quite hilarious, since 酱 means sauce in Chinese =3. AFAIK, this usage is usually informal and are seldom, if not never, found on translations for official materials and most doujins.

Actually, a friend of mine posted it in the Spanish Nanoha forums as I said in my previous post, in this thread (http://coyuhi.foros.ws/t3068/mangas-y-doujins-de-nanoha-que-no-sean-hechos-por-la-coyuhi/330/). I asked her for the source but I haven't received a reply get, so I tried looking for it at Yamibo without any luck, but I may have missed it since my knowledge of Chinese is zero, I only found 2 new NanoFate doujins at the Japanese section, but not this one. We post our personal raws in that forum for free too, so I don't think there would be a problem if we translate theirs as they do with ours, but if they are specifically requesting to don't share the raws, I think we should try asking them first.

yes, you are correct. this was insert pictures for a fanfiction. as for the fanfiction itself, it has yet to be posted on yamibo.
as for the taking without asking... i really don't think is big of deal, i do know you post raws on yamibo too. there isn't any gaining or loosing here, but i feel doujins should be bought instead of sharing it for free, since the artist worked so hard for them. so really i feel bad for the artists themselves, not much of taking it without asking. so if you think it's ok of whatever you are doing, i'm not going to continue on, because it was what you decided. i guess good luck on editing them.

Yes, I agree with you, but I think there is also a problem in the distribution of the original works, because even if people outside of Japan wanted to buy a selection of specific doujinshis from a certain Comiket; they wouldn't be able to do it in most cases (leaving far behind that people may want to read them but lack of any knowledge in Japanse).
I think the real problem should be the distribution of the original raws, that Japanese people download instead of buying the original.
Also, I wonder how many artists would feel bad because their work was translated to foreign languages, and how many will feel proud because there are 10.000 persons in occident enjoying of their work. I think this should be more a matter of how many of them work for money, and how many for hobby.

Don't worry, it's quite possible to teach yourself Japanese. I did. It might have taken me a couple of years to get to a comfortable level, but I got there without official classes. Is your home language something other than English?

Obviously at first there will be a lot you don't know. Textbooks and such should help you get the basics down, and something like anime will help you apply what you have learned. From that point on, you continue to learn Japanese the same way you learn any other language, learning the more subtle things from experience.

Except for the legs that look a bit massive, that's a very nice art, you can clearly feel the speed and rage overflowing from Fate (and imagine the new Home Run coming for her antagonist :p).

That GingaxFate image is a cover for an h-doujin called "In Search Of Sanity". I don't have it, but the sample pages.... 3/4 of the pages look like tentacle rape, though there seems to be a colour page of what looks like FatexNanoha. >_>;

There are two other comics that seem to be translated and another one that I'm sure I've seen translated and edited. Or it could be one that looks similar to it as I'm fairly sure I've seen that series of his 4koma before.
I remember that some time ago some of his works had been translated on this forum, but it stopped unfortunatly... I can't check my HD now, so I can't tell for sure what has already be done, but what is for sure, is that it was not enough u_u'.
BTW, thanks so much to your friend for translating those amazing panels and you too for editing! m_m

Except for the legs that look a bit massive, that's a very nice art, you can clearly feel the speed and rage overflowing from Fate (and imagine the new Home Run coming for her antagonist :p).
Another thing maybe : her outfit reminds me of Signum's one when she is in Unison strangely... I guess it's due to the color ^^".

You know, even though it's simple, I really like what you did with the background.
I still can't do backgrounds very well (just started adding them in recently) but i did put a lot of effort into this one and it's nice to see that it's appreciated :D

That GingaxFate image is a cover for an h-doujin called "In Search Of Sanity". I don't have it, but the sample pages.... 3/4 of the pages look like tentacle rape, though there seems to be a colour page of what looks like FatexNanoha. >_>;

It's on the DVD from her latest album special thing. The event was actually held sometime during the end of 2008. It has acoustic versions of Spiritual Garden and Sweet Darlin', kind of like how the Red Side of Mizuki Nana's Live Fighter had an orchestrated version of Eternal Blaze (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ijnjbrmtjzy). it was worth it :D

^but going though fanfic thread is still amazing though... that's prolly as difficult or even more difficult because you need to read them instead of look though them like image thread.
so basically since you and many people gone though 12k posts on the fanfic, that's prolly more difficult than me going though the near 19k image posts. ;)
i haven't gone though the fanfic thread, because i'm not as into fanfics since they're non-canon, but i did visit around 20 pages few days ago.

Well, if we could GenEngineer hair color tones using the parrot as a key to understanding it, we could figure out how to get the natural yellow, blue, and green pigments and get hair color to have colors that don't look so fake like dyes do right now. (Looks like someone just spraypainted their hair really.)

The hair color thing is an old anime trope.
You take a bunch of characters, drawn by the same character designer, all of them with "normal" haircuts, and the same color hair, and they get difficult to distinguish from each other. Think Tomo and Kagura from Azumanga - it's possible to mistake one for the other, depending on how the artist's drawn Tomo's hair in that scene.
You can give everyone crazy hairstyles to distinguish them, but that hurts your immersion in a "normal" series. (Nanoha actually has a lot of hairstyle diversity, if you ignore the "one side of everyone's do is exploding off their head" thing. Nanoha's pigtails, Fate's twintails, Vita's braid, Signum's rather elaborate hair, Hayate's ornaments, etc, etc...)
So the easiest way to differentiate characters at a glance is hair color. But "natural" hues, especially "natural for a Japanese person" hues, don't offer much diversity. So the convention of having people with otherwise-bizarre hair colors came about. In a "realistic" production of Nanoha, Suzuka wouldn't have purple hair, and there would be a lot more black hair and less brown hair all around. (Though Arisa would still be blond, presumably!)
The only downside of the hair hue thing is that, all too often, you can distinguish disguised (or worse, transformed... or related) people by the unique hair color. Escaflowne was an example of that...
Today we're releasing “Shoujo wa sore wo gaman dekinai”. This doujin belongs to the same storyline as “Hito Ni Yasashiku” and “Sekai wa Kagayaku”. Both of them were made by the same author, are already scanlated, and are available in for download in our site.

Offhand I recall in Kannazuki no Miko that although in the anime Chikane has blue hair she's always described as having black hair in the manga. I assumed in this case they gave her blue so her hair would be a unique color and maybe because black is such a boring color :p
So possibly Suzaku's purple hair may be... Well a more natural color just made purple to make it stick out or something?

Though I think she came out a lot more interesting than the usual stereotype (as I'm crazy about her and I usually hate this stereotype).

It's assume she's not japanese but it isn't stated if she's adopted into a japanese family or is from somewhere else. I assume she isn't japanese since her name isn't in the japanese format even in Japan.
