In my view, every bit of existing information from the original games is canon until contradicted by new MGLN canon.

(Yes, this means that in my mind Suzuka is of the blood-sucking Yoru no Ichizoku. Watch out, Alisa!)

In that case, I believe Alisa is a ghost, so she has nothing to worry about, yes?

What I don't get is why I was the only one to encounter this problem. That's not like if my pc was usually slow or anything... may be some king of curse! ヾ(ﾟ□ﾟ＠)

I too believe that Suzuka is a vampire since this panel is the A's manga when she pawned Fate with a simple ball during the volleyball match. I'm not too sure what to think about Alisa though... except for the fact she could also enter the kekkai erected by Yuno (was it him?) during A's, she didn't manifest any other special abilities.

I like how the SD Fate is looking at the "normal" Fate as if she's thinking "Oh, man, I wish I could look like that!" And *lol* at Vivio. Magical family members must be so confusing!

Maybe you ought to read my post again.

In my view, every bit of existing information from the original games is canon until contradicted by new MGLN canon.
In the game, Alisa (Lowell) gets kidnapped and murdered by a gang of rapists. Not only that, but she also ultimately departs from the physical world completely, thus ceasing to exist as a ghost. Thankfully, the new Nanoha canon has made it clear that none of this ever happened. Thus, no, she's not a ghost.

Hey, Everything's Better with Vampires (TM), right? :p Kouya had better watch out, though...
In the game, Kyouya doesn't seem to mind being lunch too much when it comes to Suzuka's sister.

I want to illustrate some of the problems that can arise with how physics arrive at its hypothesis.

This here is what's known as a given. Any alteration of this is known to be as falsification of the data, and that leads to ruination of anyone working based off of the dataset. Given the source of this data, we can call this a simulated dataset results, as opposed to a purely observed dataset that comes straight from the source.

It is a great taboo of science to alter data in order to skew the dataset to match one's own conjectures. The accepted practice is to find fitting datasets instead.

From this dataset, several immediate hunches can be drawn, some more popular than others. These hunches are thus developed into hypothesis and handed out as theories.

NF interpretation, being a suggested case that seemingly explains interactions between N and F, although force of interpersonal attraction is strongly debatable, leading to question as to whether or not if the NF relational force really is fundamental or just a weaker relational force.

NY interpretation, suggesting based on a more classical interpretation. The nature of attraction between N and Y is understood on several layers, however many question the validity of this due to the observed evidences are merely circumstantial, that there has been no observable instance where N-Y interaction occurs in isolated settings, and that the current presented data is not sufficient to conclude the strength of N-Y relational force, if any.

YC interpretation is a mirror to the NF interpretation despite it being rather unpopular. This foil has been suggested as an apologetic to the NF theory and is compatible despite its relative distaste and how that it goes into the fringes of what is theoretically possible with relational forces. Ah, the joys of the scientific analysis :D (and I actually understood all of the statement above :p ). And yes, damn those who manipulate proven scientific means and equations in an attempt to support their own viewpoints and pass them off as fact where they are actually misinterpreted or only a faction of the actual proof.

I forgot to add. Another really unsettling issue stems out of the NFY+V is the Y paradox in which it would be implied that Y-F interaction is plausible and actually observable. Now, scientists want to squeeze out of LHC 'higgs boson' for similar reason to catch a glimpse of YF interaction due to its implications.

This creates havoc in Copenhagen interpretation but let's not go there~ any of the many world guys will say that sure it's not collapsing because you're just being tricked as an observer into looking for waveform collapse!

Well, physics becomes math the moment you want to use representation in the form of symbols to show relations. Same in economics too. Algebra really is about working with a bunch of symbols and make them tell a fact and lead to conclusions. For example, the number of pictures, variable p, can only grow upward and that there's no such thing as deficiency going beyond 0 picture and to negative. That's call setting a lower bound to a variable.

Let's see...P == Σp == p1+p2+p3...+ pn.... Variable uppercase P is the sum of every single picture in all threads, each unique p being defined as number of pictures in a specific threads, and there will be lower bound to the number of threads, at 1. n denotes the upper bound of the number of threads. You build on variable and that's why physics get really ugly.

By the way, mathematical argument is true for sure when it comes to where it is applied. /u/ is a case where Girl+Girl trumps all. Unfortunately, people can be in /b/.

I will second the "to pierce. It's not strong enough to indicate penetrate, despite it being an implication.

Well, another way of putting the same message would've been to say that everyone take different things out of the same observed items, although unfortunately some will force other into having similar response by skewing things instead of forming convincing arguments!

Observers are put off by specific jargon and way of tone that a group of people may end up using, and jargons aren't really restricted to one kind of way of saying things! In other words, this is what's happening with the otaku 'outsider force field' and that applies nonetheless to the Nanoha community, much the same way that the general population don't like hearing the scientists tearing each other apart with formulae.

The last thing would be to just absorb conclusion based on how they sound. Explanations do make sense at some level, but the question is at what level! Facts in /u/ can be worded as law, but when you goto /b/, hell breaks loose on those same laws.

My moonspeak-fu is weak. After conversation with Tempest, we've come to a little general understanding of the diagram.

Vita's weapon loadout include several different head configurations. The most prominant and versatile would be the AP-R Armor piercing prick. This is available in ample supply and is used most commonly by Vita. The 00-Back is a buckshot with 9 shots in them, called 9-balls as its nickname and is an anti-personal hammer head. The Tandem-warhead HEAT is a HEAT round designed to penetrate the AMF barrier and then to cause harm to the opponent. Self-Forging fragment is actually self-made and it's meant to penetrate armor at stand-off distances. This is used against conventional armor.

What I am making out is that this diagram is showing the propulsion plant in the graf-eisen hammer. Obviously fueled by mana, this thing's primary burn chamber is the central sphere and it goes through compression then gets a burn in a secondary burn chamber (I am guessing the nozzle itself). This turns the turbine at 600k rpm and the exact thrust generated is classified, but estimated at 200kN (which is ridiculously high). 156 kN per engine out of 2 engines is what's estimated for a F-22. One's limbs will be torn off clean holding that thing at a small fraction of that power.

General gist I got is that hammerhead allows for a great degree of freedom in the use of the weapon by allowing head swap. The worth of this weapon is well proven in the YnS incident. It is a highly advanced infantry-oriented device that is astoundingly advance even for Midchildan engineering knowhow.

The first burn chamber ignites at a temperature exceeding 1700 degrees C, and that the alloy that made it possible should not have existed I guess. There's capillaries that serve as air ducts... I don't quite what part of this engine can tolerate 1300 decrees C but this strange alloy made the propulsion plant possible. Anyways, this thing is a meat grinder.

As for Signum's Laevateinn, This weapon is made with melee in mind, a very daring feat of engineering that's made specifically against magical girls, with anti-air abilities in mind. I think what's shown is the loading mechanism as well as part of the snake release mechanism. The loading mechanism though seems to raise some question given discrepancy what's shown of Laevateinn in A's...

@LoweGear: Yes. There were drawings made for them as well. It was quite an interesting guide that unfortunately I've seen only parts of and really didn't get info much out of.

The loading system for Laevatein looks awfully convoluted though... IIRC the rounds for Laevatein are fed in the handle, so how are the rounds getting from there to the firing assembly if the wire-spool system is in the way? :heh:

Electrical engineers would handle that. But that's just the wiring. The actual program itself is still done by programmers. ELENs just work on figuring out where all the wires and boards would have to go after they are told what is required for the particular system (and usually in conjunction with mechanical/structural engineers).

Electrical engineers would handle that. But that's just the wiring. The actual program itself is still done by programmers. ELENs just work on figuring out where all the wires and boards would have to go after they are told what is required for the particular system (and usually in conjunction with mechanical/structural engineers).

Actually, yes they can. The item is called a PLC, Program Logic Controller. My father was the nuclear reactor operator on the USS Stergeon, and he had things like PLCs hanging around his house just to do the whole automatic lights thing. (Before they evolved the X-10 series of house light and electrical controllers into small programmable items like alarm clocks with buttons.)

And FYI, another name for a programmer is a Software Engineer

Which is nothing more then a technical term invented by a group pf programmers to escape the stigma attached to the word programmer. In fact, the exact content of the term is still being debated to this very day, and very few other countries have a proper translation for the term at all.

Anyway, Eva is right in that if you want an easier boot option for your Gundam, you'd need to talk to the programmers, not the engineers. They're responsible for how easy the software does it's work and how much it can do without user input. Nanoha devices are literally a programmer's dream. Once it's done you can ask it anything you want it to do and it'll do it. It'll even do things continuously simply by asking it! And not just pre-programmed voice commands, but actually just asking 'hey, could you do this and that'

I'm actually scared imagining the source code that drives Raising Heart.

ELENs have some programming knowledge but when you're dealing with custom operating systems...that's not their field. Suggestions of what needs to me done or changes maybe but the raw coding? Leave that to the programmers:

A programmer is someone who writes computer software. One who practices or professes a formal approach to programming may also be known as a programmer analyst. A programmer's primary computer language (Lisp, Java, Delphi, C++, etc.) is often prefixed to the above titles, and those who work in a web environment often prefix their titles with web. A programmer is not a software developer, software engineer, computer scientist, or software analyst.

I'm actually scared imagining the source code that drives Raising Heart.

I would guess they would have to develop some completely new programming language to code a Device which in itself is quite a daunting task :uhoh:

I stayed away from programming and went into database administration/project management. Come to think of it however, I am passionate at physics and should perhaps do that as a secondary specialization one day. (Never had the tools to tinker around for me to get good nuff to even consider engineering)

Engineers do need programming knowhow when writing firmware drivers. Having firmware lets you calibrate devices and interface the said gadget in meaningful ways. Doing firmware driver involve the black art of Assembly which I don't even want to touch...

and Hayate would've wanted Rein1 and Rein2, not matter of exclusive OR, but a case of AND.

If yes it is a little to small but if the Device is only a staff I think it works.

I'm not a fan of Vivio's shoulders in the frontal view. They're kinda broad in comparison to the rest of her body. On the back view, it seems much better. The BJ itself doesn't look bad.

As for the device itself, I'd like a little more information on Vivio's magic before giving a better opinion. The rings on the shaft, I feel, are extraneous and do not look necessary.

It's the only one I have that is translated and features a "normal" Yuuno and Nanoha. I can't give you the "direct" source because I don't remember how my friend got it (moved to Australia...:(). But I think it's from the Nanoha SEED series...hmmm...

....actually, it's not bad at all. I'd ask why she's grinning evilly but I get the feeling I won't like the answer. The jacket isn't bad as far as design goes, but the rings on the staff make me think of Miroku from Inuyasha for some reason. Actually, that's not Q-Ice. Q-Ice is notorious for being a very cruel 4-koma towards Fate. With things such as this happening on several occasions:

If it's a ranged device, then you should re-work the blades into something tat doesn't look like blades. Currently, this weapon looks like a clumsy glaive rather then a staff.

This is actually a parody of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure part 3.

One of the protagonists was unfortunate to meet an antagonist whose power is to reverse anyone's age as long as the victim stays in the shadow. At one point, an unfortunate victim was reverse aged to near foetus status and the protagonist, Polnareff (parodied by Fate, who is also blonde and FAST), struggled to keep her alive. It was solved when the antagonist got too cocky and reverse aged another of the protagonists, Jotaro. But the antagonist picked on the wrong person and got his teeth knocked off by Jotaro. The power was then dispelled and everyone recovered their original age.

Rick, gotta say, you're getting better.

Comments:

-Her curves are accentuated a bit too much. She's wasp-waisted. It looks like you've still got a lot of American comic book superheroine influence. Her legs look like she's pretty butch; some of that is the shin guard, but the thigh is thick with muscle, something that women don't exhibit unless they're REALLY buff.

-The torso is too small in proportion with the rest of the body. It's barely longer than her head and neck, and about the length of one of her thighs.

Still, it's easy to see that your hard work is paying off here - this is much closer to the original art style than your early efforts.

Agreed a little with ADV...it's getting a little better.
First off, how old is this girl? Depending on her weight or if she has hit puberty yet, then putting some curves her is questionable. Nothing wrong with curves, it's just that it may be inappropriate if the girl is in her early teens or she's thin (like 100 lbs thin).
Btw, no, you don't have to copy the original style. Most of the time when artists draw fanart, their style differs from the original, either a little or a lot.

I need help with the hair and the scene shading of this picture I've been working on... it's driving me nuts...

It took me hours to get the rough perspective correct, and for the life of me... I am actually frustrated over this. The original composition scenes that the poses are based out of are stuff of QUALITY, leaving me with no concrete reference at lightning and color depth.

@AdmiralTigerClaw: Welll, figuring out the lightning and how that strikes on hair are my real Achilles's heels. If wrong, the hair will look like soggy soba... I will go and ram my head against a piece of tofu for now and see if it comes to me eventually.

Add two layers.

One layer highlights.
One layer shadows.

Drape shadows or highlights across your image in their individual layers as full white or full black cast. Then to bring them to contrast balance with the image, adjust the layer opacity for each to the desired level. Lower levels produce fainter shadows/highlights while higher opacities create harsher contrast invoking a sense of light.

Duplicate these a few times and create sets of opacity levels as you see fit.

:as an example. Dead center, is the shadow/highlight layers by themselves.

For effects, use a soften brush to blend either the shadows or the highlights to diminish the hard edges and create soft shadow edges.

In the cast of the hair, find the shapes of major clumps and focus on where the light is coming from.

An added bonus is that all the shadows and highlights are completely isolated from each other and the rest of the image so you're free to screw up as you see fit.

The last two images have all been influenced by Toradora!, but I can't really just trace screenshots due to the way those shots are made. It's alot of fun and frustration though having to fill in the details yourself while only given a reference to gauge out of.

It took me hours to get the rough perspective correct, and for the life of me... I am actually frustrated over this. The original composition scenes that the poses are based out of are stuff of QUALITY, leaving me with no concrete reference at lightning and color depth.Figure out where your light source(s) is before doing any shading if you haven't already. Or is that what you wanted help with?

I want a Nanoha figure. Last time I was at a store, I saw a Vita unison figure. I think it's this one. I wanted to buy it but it costs $80. I'm not ready to spend that much on a figure yet.

Her personallity I think she will develop her own thoughts and ideas. With abit based on her mamas. I think both mamas will tell Vivio about important things. Like how Fate told Vivio that she was the same. I think that means alot to Vivio to know where she comes from and to know she is not alone.

Just for the record, nothing in the comic text suggests that she's giving hers to Nanoha. In fact, judging by the dialogue, her motive seems to be that it's OK as long as they are both embarrased. :heh:

That's good. Yuuno teaches Vivio in the infinite library but we don't hear from Yuuno at all. At least not in SSX the latest soundtrack.

It looks like Vivio is more interesed in Belka then really in other books. I think she just wants to know abit more about her past :heh:. So I hope her bookwormingness will end soon. And she starts doing some other things :D
I really think Vivio should do something else then just sitting in the infinite library :(
