Judging from her debut in the Utaware Radio special, she's got most of the personality covered already. I might as well have been listening to Rikiya Koyama, Ryouka Yuzuki, Miyuki Sawashiro and Kamyu.Well, I'd say Kugyuu + happiness level at night time = Kamyu, but I don't remember if they have night/day in the newer ones now. Faintly remember R/S not having it and that was the last time I played.

Well, I don't typically listen to radio shows (I only bought this one on CD because it had Kamyu on the cover), but on this particular show, it didn't take too much imagination on my part for her to sound just like Kamyu. Aside from the fact that her speaking voice is basically her anime voice (http://blog.goo.ne.jp/koyamap/e/969cefaf2e57c73abfbc7cdf1941d6f9), she did have a lot in common with Kamyu personality-wise (likes to sleep late, gets excited over yummy food, teams up with Aruruw/Miyuki Sawashiro, etc). :p

In many ways, I don't disagree with this attributes breakdown approach - I agree with your take on Hayate as a pure hardcore mage type, for example - but Signum is almost broken here, while I wonder why you think that Fate's defense is complete crap. :heh:

I'd take Signum's Agility and/or Defense down a little bit, while upping Fate's Defense a fair bit. Those two should be very close to one another, as they struck me as very evenly matched fighters in Nanoha A's.

No, Fate's defense is not crap. You don't become a great melee fighter with sucky defense, Keroko.

Fate's defensive spells are fine. She successfully shielded herself, with a magic shield, from one of Nanoha's best blast attacks in their final battle in the original Nanoha anime.

I don't see any evidence at all that Fate has "low defensive spells". Just because Fate dodges a lot doesn't mean she has "low defensive spells". That's like saying that since Superman dodges attacks sometimes, he can't withstand them. No, it's just that he instinctively dodges, or he doesn't want to risk the attacks hurting him if he doesn't know how potent they are.

Also, in Fate's case, why waste magic energy making shields when she's so good at dodging?

Finally, a defense value should count for more than just "defensive spells". It should count for physical defense as well. Fate uses Bardiche very well as a defensive weapon at times.

It matches up as thus in canon.

Fate Favors speedblitzing over tanking and precision over power. She starts out towards the balanced end of the spectrum, but favors rotating her stats to a speed and firepower edge as she 'powers up'. Emphasising her desire to hit first, hit hard, and be gone before the return fire. Her specialty would be strike.

Signum, as a classic full warrior case, favors an ideal balance. If anything, Signum is the Mario of the group. Her speed is balanced with her defense, armor, skills and power. She excels in nothing, but can handle everything equally well. She'd be an ideal escort.

Nanoha is a tank. She favors blasting her opponents until they give up, maneuvering a little, simply shrugging off what she does get hit with and keeps on trucking. Her firepower is strong and balances with her defenses. Prolonged assault is right up her ally.

Hayate said it herself. She's absurd in close combat. She's a glass cannon. She's a cute artillery piece that suffers from a severe issue if you get inside her attack sphere. She's field artillery.

I agree that Signum is broken there, but I put it that way because I honestly see no weaknesses of her. It's not like she's "no weaknesses, no strength". She excels everywhere. She's a prime example of a Lightning Bruiser (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LightningBruiser). And as far as I know, she won most of the matches against Fate (In the Sound Stages?) and still was as strong as Nanoha after StrikerS, despite the Wolkenritter never actually getting stronger. In fact, their power is fading away in the process of becoming more human, I think.

Take her first fight with Fate, for example. She blocks her lightning attack with her Panzergeist magic. Without even flinching. Then she goes ultra-speed and disappears from Fate's vision only to go from below and crush her shield and Bardiche in one blow.

And Fate's defense is weak. What's with the "Are you crazy, if you take one blow like that, you're down" coming from every opponent, including Signum. She said so herself, if she takes a hard hit in Sonic Form, she's done for.

I should however mention, and this is important, that those attributes are no exact values. It's only how their strengths are distributed.

For example, just because Nanoha and Hayate both have maximum strength does not mean both are equal in terms of power. It means that they both have power as their best attribute.

At least I think so. :uhoh: I realize that it's not the best system, maybe I'll remake it. The thing is, I have no idea how to compare them in terms of power and speed, when one relies on strong physical attacks and the other one on beams. :confused: Suggestions are appreciated, of course.

I chose not to do Caro simply because I had no idea how. She's a support/summoning mage. How the hell do you put those abilities into those attributes?

The only points she'd get would be mana and skill/experience. I don't even know if she can take a hit. That's the reason for excluding her. Her abilities just don't fit, she's not a fighter.

I posted this somewhere else but I'll comment here too.

The stern faces looking out into the distance, as if they were just told something that really turned their world around. The library was attacked and partially destroyed, section six is in flames, Fate is in a coma, and the two life long friends try to take comfort in each other as they both look ahead to an uncertain future before they have to split apart and each face their own destinies. As Nanoha walks to a fight she may not win, Yuuno heads back to support his friend from a distance.

Well, I certainly didn't intend to spark this conversation. If asked if I was for or against random japanese words, I'd say I was against. It is a bit jarring running into them, even if i do have a general idea of what the words mean. In the specific case of that fic, I didn't add that in there, my co-writer did. I thought it was fine since it was a random splur of insults. People who speak multiple languages do that sometimes.

There is one other exception though: the use of suffixes. I use them in my other writings. It's just that there are some suffixes with meanings that just don't carry over to the words Ms or Mr. Plus, after watching a show, my mind is used to processing 'Nanoha-san' and 'Fate-chan', so reading/writing them feels more natural.

I think it was an attempt to make her more moe than she already was. Which is impossible since anymore and everyone's computer would implode and all the fans would die of excessive blood loss. There was some discussion of them ruining the character design with the overly big eyes a few months back.
