Wow we finally get to see what color of pants Erio have now xD. I actually like the first poster, evolution pics are a tradition of long lasting franchises and it's always nice to see how things change(i only miss the original S1 Nanoha i know the Movie one is amazing but it's like she replaced the original, maybe putting both side to side should do the trick). Also, did anyone note the "support" thing on Strike Cannon's end? ...maybe an aditament for a "sniper mode" xD?

I liked Arnage better when she was named KOS-MOS. Jokes aside, I never noticed how 'wild' Arnage's hair really was until now. Those looked more dangerous than her gatling gun + missile launcher armaments. :heh:

Somehow, I kinda lost the hatred I had on Huckebein, at least some of it; the loli can die in a plane crash, Fortis can eat Starlight, and Cypha can burn till nothingness for all I care. But Arnage? Seriously, this series needs MOAR magic gunners like Nanoha. Why dual-wield katanas when you can have twin-gattling guns on one hand and a quadruple missile-launcher/heavy-cannon(?) on the other? :D

Of course, you'd think with all that guns, someone would've told her to put some of them as shoulder weapons or something. Nobody watched Iron Man? Predator? Or just about any mecha series with shoulder guns in it? :eyespin:

So it's basically a rapid-fire, low damage (assuming it isn't completely broken) weapon versus a for the most part slow fire, high damage weapon.

I'd generally say you don't challenge Nanoha in that regards, but the Eclipse is a significant edge. Nanoha is a more tactical thinker, though, so I'm betting she outsmarts Arnage.

From the scan, it does look like the Gatling and RPG's can be switched from one side to the other, and both weapons materialize on the same base. It might be possible for Arnage to materialize either 4 gatling guns or 12 RPG's. I don't know if it's mentioned in the profile however :uhoh:

She's already an honorary librarian at her age, as well as having inherited the gene of an ancient super soldier (remember StrikerS? Even if the helo was destroyed she would've been fine even without being empowered by a jewel seed or being attached to a super warship). Anything more and she would be Mary Sue...:eyespin:

Keep in mind Teana has a major incident to prepare for, and as such Nanoha needed to make Stars/Lightning as solid as possible.

Not just the computer, either; she's clearly a regular there since at least two random people recognize her and know her by name as well. So she not only has the privileges, but she uses 'em. And her friends are turning to her to accomplish actual research work vital to the solution of a serial murder case.

Not like it's unprecedented, as Yuuno took over the Library when he was nine.

I believe it was a thread on /m/ where some one pointed out how it's said that Vivio and her friends are constant visitors to the Infinity Library, yet in Vivid they are never shown going there. They supposed this was because the creators are trying to avoid giving Yuuno possible screen time and they also noted how Vivid jumps forward in time and only shows instances where Fate has time off and is thus present at Nanoha's place. Naturally all this is done for the sake of keeping the fans happy. That person certainly has a point.

I find a bit ridiculous all this censoring over Yuuno. I mean, ok right, he don't have any chance with Nanoha we get it, can we at least have a couple of cameos where we can see him doing other things? i mean he's a usefull, decent guy, also good material for secondary or at least background character. There are more creative forms to sink his ship with Nanoha and still give the poor guy some justice but instead they decided to completely ignore him of the existence(is almost RetGone by this point). I think they're just lazy of thinking what to do with him xDU.

That's military training though, Vivio's not in the army. Though having many teachers helps too. Aside from Nanoha, we know that Yuuno taught her things too, and Nove has taken on the baton for physical training.

If she were more plain-looking, you wouldn't have that fanbase (and seriously, she should not be fairly good-looking, as she's been an abuse victim and that doesn't leave one drop-dead gorgeous). So, because of that, the more hardcore a fan gets, the more they want to give Fate anything... that means giving her Nanoha. It's not so much supporting the pairing, as it is supporting giving Nanoha to Fate, whether Nanoha wants to or not. They think it will make Fate happy (and guys generally like watching two women).

We haven't yet learned of Einhart being abused, although it might be possible she was abandoned or orphaned. Still, she doesn't have the "kicked puppy" effect yet, which is essentially if you want to build up a rabid fanbase.

There's also no male to trigger the territorial instincts. That's part of what triggered NanoFate, is that Yuuno is a perfectly open and available male, and thus a threat to the relationship; a hardcore shipper's worst fear. Since there is no male around Einhart and Vivio, there is no sense of urgency that Vivio or Einhart may end up with someone else.

Just watch; if Tsuzuki introduces a male friend to Vivio and Einhart, and perhaps gives up some Einhart backstory where she had really tough times, we'll get another rabid yuri fanbase. :P

To a certain extent, I'll agree. Nanoha did save Yuuno, too, though. :P It still doesn't make for a pairing, but at least friends. Also, a part of it is that Fate's world crumbled around her, and she practically had nothing (Arf is mostly to be ignored, heh), thus she latched onto Nanoha rather strongly, and that triggered teh yuri vibes in people. She's more well-adjusted in StrikerS.

I'm not really a rabbid NanoFate supporter, though. It is the pairing that makes no most sense to me.

That doesn't stop the fans from shipping all sorts of relationship between characters. For Vivio and Einhart, I could see them having more like a sisterly relationshp than what some fans desired. Let us look at this way, all Einhart wants is to protect someone that her ancestor cared. In this situation now the person is Vivio. For me this is like an older sister protecting her beloved little sister.

However that does not stop some fans to create things like ViEin, Vihart, EinVio or Viohart. This is like the Vicia concept that do not make any sense to me till now.

For Yuuno's case, it is simply the creator of MFLN bending to the will of the fans. Just imagine what will happen to him if Force ends with a Nanoha and Yuuno marrige? He will probably be stoned on the street, receive million of e-mails containing death threats, sharp drop in manga sales or got beaten by a man dress like Nanoha (watch Inukami movie for that particular reference). That is probably some of the worse outcomen I could think of.

These are the people who claim characters as their 'waifu' and obsess over them, buying all the merchandise etc etc. These people don't want the characters to be attached romantically to anyone, thus leaving the fantasy of the fan hooking up with the character. It also keeps the character 'pure.'

Nowhere is this more evident than in the case of Kannagi. Before it went on hiatus, it was revealed that Nagi has an ex-boyfriend. Fans went absolutely apeshit over this, jumping to the conclusion that "Nagi having a former boyfriend = they must have had sex = Nagi isn't a virgin anymore = MY WAIFU ISN'T PURE!!!" I mean, hell they went so far as to tear up all the manga volumes they bought and posted it to the internet.

I think companies are really cautious about stuff like this, especially these days with the economy and such. They don't want to risk losing potential income.

In the case of Nanoha, it's a very fine balancing act to keep the core audience happy:

Lolicons: Being the original target audience, even after the desicion to have them all grow up, there are still loli characters (Vivid especially leans to this audience)

Yuri fans: Stuff like Nanoha and Fate sharing a bed, Vivio both calling them 'mamas', Yuuno not getting appearences, etc etc

Straight fans: Yuuno not completely being taken out of the picture, and his chances with Nanoha haven't been denied entirely (ie, he hasn't been married off like Chrono or Griffith), Thoma

Waifu fans: No relationship or homosexuality among the core cast has been officially confirmed, so for all intents and purposes, Nanoha, Fate, Hayate, etc are single and available for any guy.

Everyone else: Are happy so long as they get magical battles and whatnot and don't really care either way about the shipping stuff.

Of course this balancing act causes a lot of infighting between the groups and no one is entirely happy with the situation.

12 won't be the end. The scientists haven't been explained yet, and we haven't seen DeVille "react' yet. I'm guessing they'll explore each of the Huckbein a bit more in-depth before this is over. If not individually, then as a family, much like they did with the Wolkenritter.

No, Thoma is a cog in the machine, and there's other powers pulling the strings. After this confrontation dies down, Hayate will go more into full investigation mode and root it out. The scientist movement behind it will be revealed, and the reason for Lily being the "4th" as well as the reason for her being created. They'll want to use Lily and Thoma for whatever they have in mind.

The Huck's are the X factor here. How they react, as a family and as individuals, will determine which are rehabilitated, which are killed, and which end up in prison.

Also, if I recall, the beginning of the StrikerS manga took place several years before the actual series (although the first and second episode flashback to the airport fire).

No, I figure Nanoha's got it pretty much right here. Thoma's reacting on a gut-level, emotional tantrum in reaction to the psychological stress of his situation. It may well be that in the end he's got to make a Heroic Sacrifice, but he needs to cool his head a little to actually analyze and decide if that's really the case based on facts.

It's in constant effect in that Thoma's vision is now that Terminator/Predator view. He's able to speak normally but when he was chatting with Fortis there were no threats around him. Lily was always okay, and Isis was knocked out and thus removed as a threat. The Book didn't need to be on alert.

He identified Subaru by her voice, so his hearing is unaffected. Everyone in that room was incapacitated to various degrees, so again the Book didn't need to be on alert. Assuming a cure exist, or TSAB/Huckies are in the process of making them, Thoma doesn't know of it.

You may call Thoma pessimistic, but it's hard to be optimistic when you can barely perceive anyone else, see the world through some sort of Terminator-Threat Thermal Eyes, and automatically disables or come close to killing anyone which shows even a minimal level of caution against him. Throw in the fact that he never ever truly recovered from his traumatic past, and is now relapsing a horrible emotional mind-twister, it's only normal to just seek the easy way out.

I've said that Emoha was kinda unrealistic in some context in the Movie 1st. And what?

The StrikerS manga essentially starts right at the end of the A's epilogue, which is 4 years before StrikerS. Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate transform on top of the school, and get beamed up to the Arthra, and then go on to battle some drones for the first time.

The rest of the manga takes place in spurts between portions of the story, while also having some chapters devoted to background of what characters were up to, and what they felt, before and during the series. Would be kinda odd to release all that before the series, unless they released the manga concurrently with the series itself.

Which doesn't mean that Force manga is not prequel to something after it.

Maybe, but you can't judge that based on the StrikerS manga; the two are nothing alike. The StikerS manga only gave the barest hint of the plot, and was mainly backstory before the series, and then had thoughts from some characters at points during the series, complete with the extended epilogue after. In short, covering the gaps.

Force has been all plot so far, much heavier than StrikerS. I'll admit there is always a possibility it could be a prequel for an anime series, but it's highly doubtful. At this point, it can pretty much stand as a story on it's own, and any anime series would almost count as a new season.

The only way I can see this working, is via suggestions from the title: Magical War Chronicle Lyrical Nanoha Force. So the manga deals with the Hucks, and when that gets resolved, they see it was only the tip of the iceberg, and somehow there are many planets that start to go to war, and they'd put out a 26 anime series dealing with their attempts to stop the wars.

Which would follow the natural thought of the manga being it's own story, but leading into another season. Not much like the StrikerS manga and anime, which were intertwined throughout their run.

Clearing his head, however, won't solve the problem of him potentially killing anyone who is detected as a threat. As Isis showed, even being on guard and not directly attacking at all is enough for the book to decide 'splat.' Unless they have a cure ready which can be applied the moment they knock Touma out, this might be a case where shooting big pink beams won't solve the problem.

I think it makes sense, at first i was "WTH with these people, Signum's demise is not enough to prevent how tough these guys are?" then it strike suddenly on my head that they more probably don't have data or images of Signum's fight beyond what they can deduce medically, and also Signum and Agito are conveniently in coma unable to inform anyone(also Laevateinn is coincidentally out of comission xDU). So yeah, we the audience get a good glimpse of this guy's hax powers but the TSAB are still with almost the same info Signum have before the fight.

That was an asspull from the writer(or 7arcs staff i don't know) for being able to have footage of Nanoha's daily life BEFORE meeting Yuuno and involving into the "Precia Testarossa Incident"(and thus the TSAB itself). And even if we ignore it and take that for granted Signum was fighting against a foe with heavy anti-magic skills, probably interfering or disabling that wonderful "magic cameras" of the TSAB(remeber that during the assault on the Hucks's warship the TSAB gets mostly reduced to use conventional communication equipement and also haven't image of the inside battle). The only footage from Signum/Agito's battle was after the battle when the medic team take them.

They're not completely unaware, even Signum had some knowledge of the Eclipse infected abilities, it's just that they don't have a precise measure of how extreme said capabilities are and how exatcly works(they at least know how magic can be nagated and thus, are able to develop countermeasures like the AEC's or the 5th Gen upgrade). My guess is that Signum take into account the anti-magic thing and plans on overcome it with her sowrdsman skills, obviously she hadn't see coming that Laevateinn will be destroyed or that Cypha's body can become so damn hard ....or that she will need to split her resources to face two truly dangerous targets.

So yeah, the TSAB have some knowledge of the Huckebein and the Eclipse, but they clearly don't have the same info as us the readers.

It can be considered that. I've always used the reasoning that they can pull memories from people and save them as files. Using magic, it wouldn't be such a stretch. Yeah, it's not in the viewpoint of Nanoha like it should be, but that's just them reusing footage to be cheap, heh.

Well, technically speaking, they didn't quite know. We saw the wreckage of the machine, and it could have just been a random encounter; that's what they made it seem like. It wasn't until Vita encounter the robots in the Cradle, that the connection was made.

He's apparently known about the cradle for a long time. It's not clear that the one Nanoha fought was under Jail's control or not, or if it was just an old guardian of something that they activated. But it's likely it was a Jail drone. Jail's oldest cyborgs are a bit older than Nanoha.

Well, you got what you wanted, but it still doesn't make sense to me. We saw how huge Nanoha's Starlight Breaker was in the manga, and I'm assuming Fate still gets hit by it. Coupled with all the damage from earlier Fate should be down for a good amount of time. Yet despite this, Fate apparently is able to shrug it off like nothing and catch Nanoha when she collapses. Honestly it should be Nanoha catching Fate instead.

Well, maybe there'll be justification in the full chapter.

Okay, regaining conscious is one thing, but being able to get up, fly, and lift up some one your own size mere moments after taking such a huge attack is too much. Taking this at face value, Nanoha's final attack is a huge failure. If this was a real fight it would be Fate's victory.

At this point, it's highly confusing. We'll have to wait until we get the translations. But honestly, the movie manga has been doing some things different for no real reason (emoha), so I guess I kinda expect it now.

And for those who say "But Kaijo, you WANTED it to be different!" I'd reply with, "I want it to be different, but I also want the changes to make sense." It's a twist to be sure, but one that seems like it came out of nowhere. I'll have to wait for the translated movie manga chapter to see.

As for Isis vs. Arnage, I suspected as much an called it earlier. It would explain why Nanoha can go after Thoma like that, not being worn down at all from fighting Arnage. Still, I was hoping to see a Nanoha vs. Arnage fight, with them blasting each other.

However, it looks like Hayate may be backing Nanoha up on this; she's got her armor and book out, ready to cast. Between the two of them, against a normal opponent, they'd be toast. Would Thoma or the book be able to delink the sheer amount of mana being tossed at him from those two?

At least in the original series the SLB wasn't so big, so it's at least more believable in that sense that Fate recovered so quickly. Plus, Nanoha was still in good shape too and able to fly on her own. So after such an intense fight, both of them were in roughly the same shape.

In this manga, though, we have Fate quickly recovering while Nanoha collapses. So basically all the training and preparation, all the determination Nanoha had, all the attacks she survived, and after putting her all into it, it was all for nothing because Fate just shrugged it off and came out on top regardless.

Course you could say winning was never the point, but apparently beating Fate was the only way to force her to see Nanoha as a friend or whatever crazy logic this series likes to use.

It's probably a visual mistake or loss-in-image-context scene, since we couldn't see exactly where Nanoha and Fate are getting their treatment, but...

Looking at the last page, it looked as if the 'ledge' was at most, 2 metres in height, yet it looked as if Nanoha fell off a skyscraper or something. ( it probably was one, since simulated battlefield and all )

And Fate somehow managed to be the first to respond, grab Nanoha with one hand, and pull her up to be carried despite being injured enough ( and magically drained, I presume ) to be put in a stretcher. :heh:

It's not as bad as Emoha, but it just had to have that last dose of drama in Movie 1st manga, didn't it?

Okay, looking at things in context, Lindy, Arf, and Yuuno were distracted discussing something, Fate was looking right at Nanoha, and out of everyone in the group (especially the TSAB corpsman) she's by god THE fastest person around. Is it any wonder she got to Nanoha first? Note that just as she makes the catch, Yuuno and Lindy realize what's going on and start to react...but Fate's already there. I don't see a SONIC MOVE in that case but frankly she doesn't entirely need one. I don't see what the complaints are; it's pretty well established to me. Thanks for the context, Aers. (I really should find a way to read the movie manga...I haven't seen any of it yet.)

Also did anyone catch Chrono's peeved expression? That sells the movie manga to me right there.

So basically all the training and preparation, all the determination Nanoha had, all the attacks she survived, and after putting her all into it, it was all for nothing because Fate just shrugged it off and came out on top regardless.

I for one, find the fact that the unfair plot-armor protagonists have is turning against them now, highly amusing.

There's enough situations where this kind of bullshit happens with the protagonist winning, I just find it satisfying when the situation is reversed. :p

Movie 1st manga: At least the Phalanx Shift segment was more realistically handled. This time it actually showed Nanoha putting up multiple shields which prevented most of it, although she still took damage. Clothing damage has also been more realistically handled throughout this fight, although modesty has ensured the only clothing destroyed has been covering "safe" parts, heh. Convenient, that.

But still left with the whole "exact same thing" issue.

Also, wasn't this chapter (12) supposed to have that "Nanoha falling off a building" part? Or was that 13 which hasn't been scanned and translated yet?

I hope it will be a custom design, it feels pretty boring to see Strike Cannons being spread everywhere, and the only changes we've seen so far is in color scheme, Vita at least have the War Hammer, i hope this is a lampshade for an future upgraded Strada(since Erio is another mage with Lightning mana conversion affinity), i didn't like Strada that much(it looks like a NERF toy more than a spear to me) but i feel an upgrade(or an AEC Expy) can look more uhm ...pointy xD(it's an Armed Device for God's sake).

3. No Divine Buster before the SLB.

4. Reference to how far exhausted Fate is after using all that attack magic, giving a viable reason why Nanoha can get off an SLB without Fate being able to counter.

I really hated that sequence in S1: Fate binds Nanoha--Nanoha eats Fate's most powerful attack while bound--Nanoha immediately launches a counterattack which had much more effect than Fate's original strike--Nanoha immediately binds Fate--Nanoha casts an even bigger attack that plunks Fate into the ocean. Basically, it reduced what should have been one of the major emotional climaxes of the series to a sequence of moments which made Nanoha seem like she had godlike power and Fate a gnat bouncing off her (seriously--she takes the most damage Fate can do with no active defense and it doesn't even slow her down???). The movie manga has actually done a pretty good job of making that fight be more like the awesome confrontation that it ought to be. So I approve heartily!

There was already a couple of those.

Also, the movie does the final battle a little better than the series, though not as well as the movie manga. Nanoha does put up a shield for phalanx in the movie...SLB in general is another level compared to phalanx, since it's just accumulated magic. Naturally it's going to trump anything Fate can throw out by herself. Since it's her strongest attack combined with Nanoha's DB and everything inbetween. The only way to win against it, is to know it's coming and avoid it, and Fate was binded in the movie, so avoiding it was not an option.

She does put up a shield against Phalanx in the series, too. It's just that you only see a bit of it for a couple of seconds. The only way I've been able to explain it, is that Yuuno taught her well in the use of defensive magics, and thus she can tank spells better than Fate since Yuuno was a master in those.

Fate just 1shotted her then using experience. What Fate may of been lacking some (thanks to Precia) during the final battle, was stamina. Aside from the whippings and injuries from her Jewel Seed search, Arf did say she was not eating much at all (malnourished)

Of course, Tsuzuki probably wasn't thinking of this reasoning at all when he directed that final battle.
