So what was the biggest suprise for you guys with this? To me it had to be Loli Arf. I mean, seriously. I never once expected that. Dear god I hope we don't end up with Shouta Zaphira.

I'd say that the biggest surprise for me was seeing how Hayate "powers up". I like the idea of Hayate and Chibinforce combining to make uber white-haired Hayate of doom.

As for the loli Alph thing, I really don't mind. With the loss of some flat chests, they needed to make up the difference somehow lol. I'm hoping that Alph's loli form is just some form she uses to conserve energy, and she uses her adult form for battle. If this were the case, then I wouldn't doubt that Zafira would be doing the same thing, too.

There's an official A's manga that covers up loopholes in the anime. You can ask Kino Liang Court to bring in for you if you want it.

There was a group scanlating it but it seems they are dead.

I know a group called Ijin did apparently sub-par scanlating of the A's one.

I'm still wondering what the heck that huge slipcover that came with the first MEgami that contained the manga was for. And undboutably the best part was the volleyball game.

And by this, I chiefly mean that I'd prefer her voice not gain too many octaves on how she sounded talking to Hayate in A's. The voice in the A's epilogue just wasn't Reinforce. I know she's only supposed to be a fragment, but still.

Ugh, if I had to choose between the two, I'd say Fate, and I'm not that fond of yuri either... Too bad Chrono's already taken... That doesn't leave much real choice. They should introduce some decent candidates for Nanoha and Fate. Yuuno seems more suitable for Hayate, but it'd be a waste if a goddess like Hayate hooked up with him :p An adult Vita would suit him just fine though :heh:

Alright well the kanji in Strikers pwns me because there is very little yomikata to help out, but. Essentially what's happening in that chapter is the Velka knights come upon a battlefield with lots of wreckage and Vita comments on how bad it looks. She usually gets this feeling when something bad is about to happen, but can't feel anything evil around. Then she imagines Nanoha nearly dead in an angsty scene and Shamal asks her what she's imagining or such. Then it's the explanation of how Hayate's new magic device (AMF?) works. The different modes it has to block physical and magical attacks, etc.

After that they tell each other they don't see anything and to both keep an eye out for anything, etc. Then the evil robots attack ;D

And I'm going to bed...

The alarmist in me is... well, alarmed by all that sudden character development followed by a mysterious probable threat, but there's no way they'd kill off characters in the pre-season manga so I suppose I can rest easy.

Nanoha and Vita are buddies now? "Smiling and laughing" doesn't really fit Vita's character from what we saw in A's...

Though in the flashback where she describes herself as 'smiling and laughing' she just looks pissed-off. :D

Also: "I should have noticed before anyone else." Could just be generic guilt, but could point to some kind of trouble with other Belkans or the Knights themselves.

Minor thing, but it's interesting to me that the Knights consider themselves ancient. Since their memories of their previous incarnations don't seem very intact and their emotional lives more or less began with A's I'd have thought otherwise.

I was under the impression that the only thing that they couldn't remember was what happened before the Book of Darkness was corrupted, and the time periods right before the BoD was activated and while it was going berserk. They seemed to remember their past masters pretty well, its just that all of them up until Hayate treated them like tools instead of people, and they never had a chance to relax and enjoy a somewhat normal life. They've definitely had plenty of time to observe combat, politics (no doubt that they've been acquired by power-hungry politicians multiple times), and the darker side of people in general.

Agreed, but I'd thought that the disconnect between each incarnation where the Book is awakened and lost and Chrono's description of them as emotionless in their previous iterations would serve to distinguish their current lives from what they know of their pasts.

Then again, it's very possible that they weren't emotionless before A's and were just always subordinating their feelings to the execution of their duties, and I've no ground to stand on at all. Not that it matters now that Vita's weighed in. :p

Though its also possible that their master might have some measure of control over how free or how submissive they are. In Hayate's case, she wanted them to be their own people, but maybe their previous masters wanted tools, so they were essentially slaves trapped in their own heads, with just enough freedom to get the job assigned to them done as efficiently as possible.

As much as I like Vita's current form, I'm curious as to how she will look in when she uses transformation magic to age herself. Vita seems to have a normal view on looks, so she'll probably make herself "healthy" :( . I'd much prefer it if she adopted Louise's figure from Zero no Tsukaima lol.

Though, in the "filling the holes in A's" manga I remeber the chapter where they explained the knight's alibi when they were collecting pages of YnS.
Signum was a sensei in a kendo dojo, Vita helped the elders in their croquet games. Shamal would meet with the neighborhood wives to chat, Zafira would simply follow one of them.

It seems Vita's alibi was confirmed in the last A's to StrikerS phase, I wonder if the others really did that in their "free time".

I still don't see much difference between Intelligent Device, Armed Device and Storage Device.

All of them seemed as intelligent as Raising Heart and Bardiche, so it must be something else that makes them the class of device that they are.

Here's my rough take on the differences between the three, based on Wiki info and my own inferences:

Storage Device:
- Only two modes (storage and active)
- No sentient AI, only voice interface

Intelligent Device:
-Three or more modes
-Sentient AI

Both would be Stave-type weapons designed primarily for spellcasting.

Armed Devices:
- Typically built as weapons, used mostly for direct combat as opposed to spellcasting
- typically equipped with cartridge system

Note these are rough definitions, since there's much variety (IIRC KlarWind is classified as an Armed Device despite not fulfilling the above parameters.) I have noticed a peculiar pattern though:

-Armed devices tend to have dormant forms reflecting their true form, i.e. Graf Eisen looks like a hammer and Klarwind still looks like a ring, whereas Intelligent and Storage devices have vastly different shapes, i.e. Raging Heart's a sphere and Durandal's a card.

Again though, this definition is muddled by Reinforce, which is classified as an intelligent device ^^;;

Examples of Hybrids:

Raging Heart Excelion and Bardiche Assault: Spellcasting type intelligent devices equipped with cartridge system, not to mention Bardiche is quite effective at melee combat.

Judging from the loadout of Subaru and the others, we'll be seeing more classification defying devices in the future.

I think the distinction of the "unison device" is that there is a unison between the device and its wielder. I doubt it's just "an upgrade".

Actually, the manga hinted that Signum and Vita are actually stronger than Fate and Nanoha. They held back in A's because they were being 'nice'. Chrono is also able to beat Fate 1v1.

I got this info online which I think might answer some of you guys’ questions. It is from the novel of Nanoha, which is what the anime and manga are adapted from. I only got pieces and bits so don’t blame me if I got it wrong.

Precia was a brilliant sorceress. Her marriage did not work out and they got divorced after two years (or something like that) of marriage. That was where Alicia came from. I guess we won’t see Mr. Testarossa anymore.

Most of strikerS manga will be translated by the good loli-cons (I mean err... people) on 4chan and stuff. and I belive you can find Nanoha A's manga which covers 5 v 5 and dodge ball at the normal places.

From what I can read from the manga, Tiana and Subaru train heartily together so that they don't end up killing each other. Tiana, deliberately and Subaru, unintentionally.

Their training pays off, and the two are ranked #3. Which causes some jealous recruits to whisper slags against them, mainly that Tiana failed the air division and officer school before and insinuating she was using connections to get good marks.

Tiana gets all angry but Subaru drags her out of there. They have a talk and we discover that Tiana really wants to get into the Air division. Blah blah about dreams and not giving up.

Tiana is a tsundere, mostly tsun tsun with little dere dere but... damn it, I don't want more tsundere, there are too many in the damn world.

Then we have Signum formally addressing Nanoha and inviting her to dinner with her Signum's underlings. Vaisu Granseniku (Vice Gransenic) and Aruto Kuraetta (Art Kuraeta).

Nanoha recognizes Vice as the Helicopter pilot guy. They eat dinner...

Bah I'm tired of reading it.

Anyways, Signum has seriously broken out of her shell. She's... friendly! Really friendly! She also notes that once Hayate puts her mind into doing something, she eventually gets it. (in this case being an officer or something)

A few things to add on:

1) The jealous rats also whispered about Subaru getting in only because her dad was a commanding officer of one the Land Force teams. Which of course is not true; in fact, I think her dad was very uneasy about letting her join the TSAB.

2) Tiana's declaration of her goal: to graduate from cadet school with the highest results and join the crack troops of the Land Forces, becoming an top-class Land Force mage. Subaru's funny reactions when Tiana blasted her for being a klutz born in a sheltered environment, but later agreed with her that the best way to shut the above mentioned rats was to prove their worth more vigorously :D .

3) The conversation over the dinner reveals the old team's frustration over the lack of progress with investigations regarding the AMF bots and how to deal with them. Nanoha seemed especially anxious/bloodthirsty(?) about moving to the frontlines again, though when the others teased her about it, she unhappily claimed otherwise :D .

Though it seems that Hayate had been doing some extensive planning regarding this matter. It appears that the Long Arc team was her idea all along, to keep the old team intact, moving out as one on their missions.

4) Subaru teaching Kempo to Tiana.

5) and finally but most importantly... the bath scene when Subaru was fangirling over Nanoha. How could you have forgotten about it?

Wow, lots of important points in this chapter:

- The first page in this chapter talks about an incident in the Michilda Airport. This would be the same airport in the 3rd chapter.
- Seems that Subaru's admiration of Nanoha is more than just simple idol worship: It's hinted that Subaru "found her dream", showing us a shot of the statue in the burning airport in page 1, and that she had met Nanoha in that incident. Which points out that maybe Subaru was saved by Nanoha in the fire, and thus the reason for her current motivations.
- So those smuggled Lost Logias were the reason for the fire, as would be expected. Although the machines showing up as well was quite unexpected...
- Physical weapons outlawed in Midchilda? Now that is quite interesting.

I love how they're fleshing out the Nanohaverse more and more, especially on the Midchilda side. Hoping that they actually show us the incident in more detail in StrikerS. Can't wait for the next chapters XD

Bit more character background in this chapter (some already came out before)...

On Subaru's side, she has her mother's Device - or rather, the right arm part, while Ginga has the left. Ginga tells Tiana about how Subaru got caught up in the fire etc at the airport, and was in a pretty dire situation - with the end result of Subaru becoming a Nanoha fan, and also wanting to become stronger. I think Tiana was a little impressed that Subaru has gotten to her current level from 0 just 6 months ago (or something along those lines) - if I could make things out correctly, Subaru ended up in the hospital for a bit after the incident, and only started training after that. btw, early on the chapter, Subaru particularly wants to become closer (better combo) with Tiana - it's been several months after all.

Tiana's background: her parents died when she was young, and was raised by elder brother - who died 3 years ago (brother complex?). Hearing Subaru's background made her realise that she's not the only one who's had a painful past.

In the end, the two get a bit closer and call each other by first name, though Subaru says Tia instead of Tiana.

1- No, they're not fighting lost logia relic (as least not yet), those pill-shape machines, they call them 'drones', were sent to capture lost logias.

2- Yes and no, there's most likely an antagonist(s), but they haven't reveal him/her yet.

3- For now, it's just training, the first part is just a single mission.

4- Nobody knows for sure... But if you ask me, my money is on 'yes'.

Can some 1 explain wats the diff between the manga A's to StrikerS, Staring Stars and y the A's manga suddenly jumps??? Which is the real??? pls explain:confused:

#1. Don't abbreviate your words on forums. It makes you seem dumber than you might seem otherwise. And I don't mean that as an insult, I mean that as friendly advice.

#2. What makes you think that any of them aren't real? A's to StrikerS takes place a few years before Starting Stars and is intended to tell you what Nanoha and company were doing all that time. Starting Stars introduces you to Tiana and Subaru and shows how they met. Both are inteded to bridge the gap in between As and StrikerS.

Edit: Also, lurk around here some, and visit the GFAQs anime boards and 4chan. (especially /a/ on 4chan) The users here and on those boards are knowledgable (even if 4chan is infamous for having a lot of jackasses), and you'll learn more about anime than you would at most anime boards.

Edit #2: And learn to lurk and search. People will often get aggitated with you and think less of you if you ask questions about stuff that's sitting in plain site a few pages back or is often-discussed common knowledge. Again, just friendly advice.

Post A's manga: It shows behind the scenes story from A's, as well as one story that happened after the ending of A's, but before the 6 years later...

A's to StrikerS: It shows one small story about how the cast is doing right then. Also, it's a set up for something big to happen in StrikerS...

Staring Stars: Sets a few months before the first episode of StrikerS. It introduces the new rookies as well as a small look into the current situation...


... Unfortunately, all of them are 'real'.

Just wondering, the StrikerS manga introduces two others ancient Velka users apart from Hayate: Kalim (the one with the "Church") and Verossa (Chrono's good mate). Are their backstories (especially this "Church" thing) mentioned in the Nanoha A's manga or some other sources?

Nope, other than a small look into their jobs, we have zero idea what's going on behind those doors.

I would say 'Ancient Velka', or just 'Velka' since no point having a Church for only 3 members...

If it was 'Lost Logia', wouldn't they have kept the Logia? :heh:

It's not just "The Church", but the "Saint Church (http://www.nanoha.com/character/carim.html)". :) Still, you can't have a Church without a belief in something, and that belief is a current mystery.
