I had all the vocal songs on my PSP for a long while and although I'm a fan, I did tire of them a bit. But I've gotta hand it to them. Snow Rain is still absolutely beautiful every time I hear it. It's likely my favourite japanese slow song. I even have it in the soundtrack for an Alternity campeign if it ever starts up.

Magical Shoujo Ririkaru Yun A's...

After Valdra gave me the Title Of Take A Shot (Must Buy one of Nana Mizuki Single to found it :rolleyes: )
I prefer more Take A Shot than Brave Phoenix, Even If Brave Phoenix is more strong... Nana Mizuki voice is so strong on the Beginning of Take A Shot... 1:15-1:18 with the good opening.

Nanoha: Then when it became time to go home, they give us a drive back to our neighbourhood where Fate-chan and I live close by.

The dangerous lost logia Book of Darkness and the four guardian knights protecting it was responsible for the attack and damaged my staff, Raging Heart. And stole some of my magic power. They also hurt Fate-chan when she went to rescue me. And Bardiche got damaged too.
Fate: But I'm sure they're all right. Yuuno knows a lot about devices. Not to mention Bardiche and Raging Heart are really strong children. Until Nanoha's magic returns, I will protect you, Nanoha.
Nanoha: Fate-chan...
Fate: Er, even if you're magic does return I will keep on protecting you, of course.
Nanoha: Thank you, Fate-chan. Ah, I wonder when my magic will return? Me and Raging Heart were practicing some new magic spells before this, we were close to perfecting it.

Jeez, I must have started to translate this thing almost a year and a half ago.

And no one else is willing to translate other bits and pieces of cd dramas in the mean time either... (weeps in disappointment)

I definitely feel good about finishing this... I'm might start translating the Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha SOUND STAGE 01. Though I feel going back to first season's CD drama is a bit of a stretch now that 3rd season is upon us.

I have always liked these Sound Stages. I have the tracks on my ZVM just to listen to the girls' voices. I can understand bits here and there, but to have a full translation like this is truely awesome.

Every since then we've been sealing Jewel Seeds steadily and safely gather them. Including the one that Yuuno-kun has captured, there are now only 18 Jewel Seeds left.
Oh... I kinda understand how to use attack and protection spells now...
Yuuno: You seem to really be good with high energy spells, Nanoha. (badly translated) You possess a great amount of magic but your concentration, compressing energy and fine control isn't as good.
Nanoha: Um... Doesn't that mean I'm the type that relies on solving everything with power (brute force)?

Yuuno: Anyways, it's all right. I can support you with the capture and barrier spells.

The song is pretty good in general. I wouldn't go so far to say that it's awesomeness is off-the-charts, but at least I think it's better than the A's OP. Though frankly, even if we ignore the lyrics (( I'm bad at translating lyrics to coherent meanings )) this song is soooo made for an OP it's not even funny.

There's the pre-anime title spots with the instrumental+vocal build-up, the step-by-step imagery style of character introduction in OP through the subtle change in vocal motion in the beginning, the action-in-OP sequences with the vocal build-up part, the high-speed character flashing spots, the slower-character momental OP spot and the standard ending part of an OP song. Generic, but it works.

I presume you understand the lyrics, so I think your speculations might not be off too much. The first two MSLN OPs reflected their respective plots, so we can assume that the third one will continue this fine tradition.

Nanoha OP lyrics are like Medieval prophecies. They were written in such a way that they always work when you look at them retrospectively with all the details of the story in your mind. Selective attention only to those that fit the conclusion, perhaps :p? Nonetheless, you can't derive many accurate details when you try to use them for predicting the future :eyespin:.

Anyway the interpretation of the lyrics will probably be drastically different between different people. Maybe other moonspeakers arond can share their thoughts on the lyrics as well? :)

The instrumental section at the end was drawn out because Nana-chan had to go to the backstage to get change into another costume. (I was at the concert).

When I heard it I thought it was a good song (screams Shikura as I've anticipated, as I'm pretty familiar with his music style), but I didn't think it was nearly as impressionable as Eternal Blaze, or for that matter innocent starter as well. Though it's going to be pretty hard to beat Eternal Blaze (Eternal Blaze is pretty much anisong of 2005) anyway so that's not necessarily a negative against Secret Ambition.

What's your thoughts after listening? I think Secret Ambition has the potential to be better than Innocent Starter, which incidentally is my favourite amongst the many MSLN songs by Nana-chan ;) .

My personal favorite is 'Take a shot', the insert song for the first season, it's a great song to gets you in the mood for action :)

'Innocent Starter' has a nice 'balance' to it, 'Eternal Blaze' is another song that gets you pumping, which fits the 2nd season as the action scenes were way better...

'Secret Ambition'... I don't know how to describe it... It gets you excited I guess :D, I'm judging it along the lines of 'Eternal Blaze' since it somehow reminds me of it :heh:... It also has a kind of dark, mysterious feeling to it, during the verse. Before the start of the Chorus, I get a sense of...'Resolution' from the music... Don't know whether it makes sense to you guys :heh:

But if I have to be fussy, the only part that doesn't sound right to me is the tune near the end of the chorus, abit of a let down...

EDIT: But like what LoweGear said... The Chorus, which is my favorite part except the ending, could be best described as 'BADASS' with the caps :D

Personally, I find it hard to envision that Secret Ambition would have an unfitting OP video to go along with the audio. The studio must be drunk on stupor if they can't get it right. I thought that S.A may very well be one of the most OP video-friendly songs I've heard in a while, even when compared to friendly songs like Eternal Blaze and Innocent Starter. Well, at least when compared to songs like...Kaidoku Fuuno, COLORS, Heartbeat or D.Gray-Man's OP... this song feels so easy.

Like I said previously, the flow of the song is sang like it was made for an OP video. It has the pre-OP instrumental, the generic character flow showcase vocals, the fast-paced "dut DuT DUT" where we get 1 second flashes of potential villians/etc, the vocal-change-tone where it's normally adjusted for the traditional-action-in-the-OP video and lastly, the wrap-up.

It's the most standard method in OP-executions, but it works damn well.

A's Sound Stage 2. In track 7 and 8.

I've just been able to listen to the latest Sound Stage from Megami. From my observations:

Nanoha: Her current voice is almost unchanged compared to her 9-year old voice. Though she sounds more mature.
Fate: Her voice is still pretty much the same. She's also still VERY soft spoken. Sigh... And I was thinking she have a livelier way of speaking after ten years. Well, I'm not complaining. I honestly wouldn't have her speak any other way.
Hayate: She gets the most notable maturing in terms of voice. She's still as cheerful as ever. And I'm still loving her Kansai-ben!

Subaru: Absolutely no complaints! Subaru's seiyuu is doing an excellent job of bringing out both her whiny and serious sides.
Tiana: Absolutely better than expected! Her mild(?) tsundere way of speaking is done extremely well. And I absolutely love her panicked speech with Subaru. (SUBARU! Kono baka, baka, BAAAKA!)

Anyway, did anybody understand what they were panicking about? Something about a wrong studio?

Speaking of Seiyuus I heard that Fate Testarossa's voice actor is also acting as the voice of an RPG character in Tales of Symphonia. Why am I asking? Because Fate Testarossa's voice gives me some excitment but do you think it is worth the effort to import the Japanese version of Tales of Symphonia just for Fate Testarossa's voice?

According to sources, the RPG character kinda resembles Fate Testarossa in a way both in personality and the way she dresses (a la StrikerS version). What a conincidence..... no?

Well, the OP album was nice. Although the full OP version could have turned out better, they didn't reuse the instrumental bridge of the first part, which is a pity. Other than that, for me it's the best OP in Nanoha so far. I needed time to get used to the other two but this OP caught my attention from day 1.

The rest of the songs were nice but Nana's albums are usually good material from what I recall, at least one of the other 2 Nanoha OP albums had very nice accompanying songs.

The ED single takes too much time... X(

Sadly I didn't find StrikerS' OP that fantastic - for me the OP that "caught my attention from day 1" would still have to be Innocent Starter after all. I took a little time to get used to and start loving A's OP; but I guess the same hasn't happened for Secret Ambition.

I'll rewatch the OPs and EDs (except for the first ED, because I ****ing hate it), since I'm bored and I don't remember the first two OPs or the second ED all that well.

First OP: Its not annoying and overly-cutesy like I remember (I remembered it being about on par with the FMP OPs), and it actually gets the feel of the show across somewhat at parts, but its not really good either. Its just kinda there. 5/10

First ED: Annoying. Very, very, very annoying. Like it makes me want to go outside and kill a cute little animal annoying. The irritating cutesy lyrics ("Make a little wish!" :frustrated: ) and the dumb, ugly little dancing Nanoha down there in the corner... Easily one of my least favorite anime OPs/EDs, right down there with Love Hina's OP. 0/10

As OP: Good OP. Not anywhere near being a favorite or anything, but I'm surprised that I don't remember watching it at the beginning of every episode. 7/10

As ED: Doesn't piss me off like the first ED or even irritate me, but I still don't like it. 3/10

StrikerS OP: Eh, I like the tune and visuals when Fate and Nanoha are blowing stuff up, but the rest is just okay. 6/10

Striker ED: Music's not bad, and I <3 the visuals. This ED kinda remind me of the early Inuyasha EDs in the way that it portrays Nanoha. (too bad that the music isn't quiet up to par... those are easily some of my favorite anime EDs) 7/10

yups i think it does look similar also...the black and the white stripes around the jacket...just like Fate's barrier jacket in the show....Nana Mizuki might be my newest favorite Seiyuu in anime....( i only found out about her after watching both seasons of Nanoha, she did a great job in voicing Fate)

Got my hand on the OP Single. My god, IMO this single is more powerful than the two earlier seasons' OPs. The first track, of course, becomes my instant favourite and the other two tracks are also good. Though I seem to have issue with the third track :eyespin: but it may just be me :heh:

whenever i listen to both the SECRET AMBITION and HOSHIZORA NO SPICA singles, i always imagine Nanoha and Fate singing to their songs.

Nagumo used to translate em, i dont think i ever see any site that provide english translation for Nanoha SS.There is german version of it though
