Hi it's me again. Quick update this time. How about that?
Page 08 (9th) is in da house~. *ahem*
Anyways, about the page. As you can see, no crazy ass backgrounds this time. Which is why it came along so quickly. This page is the prelude to one of Hiro's flashbacks which is on the next page. I had some trouble with the second panel, trying to draw Hiro from a lower angle (believe me when I say it's a lot harder than it looks). I wanted a shot of most of Hiro's body because I havn't done one in the manga yet. And people were thinking he was kakashi or something. So now there shouldn't be any confusion (hopefully). And yes that is blood on the 4th panel incase anyone was wondering for some reason.
Overall I like this page. *pats himself on back*

That's easy for you to say... I don't know how old you think I am but I'm only 17 so I'm still in high school. Also, I also translate for a fansub group called Anime-Influx. And I have other things to do beside draw... So I'm rather amazed I managed to get out 5 pages last month actually. Plus, I have to ink them all myself so I end up technically drawing the same stuff 2 times. If I didn't have to ink I'd probably be on page 10 by now.
do you already have the story written out, or are you going page by page?
Well I have all the cool parts done in my head. I don't actually have anything written down so I end up making the dialogue pretty much as I go along - which believe me, is pretty damn tricky. But overall, yeah I know the whole story.
I just hope I can get to the part that I want to draw soon. It'll be really cool if I can do it correctly.

Yeah I know. Slower = better quality from me. But it still would be nice to bust out 17 pages a week like Kishimoto does...although he probably just draws all day. I could never or want to draw that much in one day again. I once drew 10 hours straight working on some storyboards. Safe to say, I never, ever want to have to do that again. ^_^

That there is some really nice art Kiva. You got quite some talent being able to make that series even though your still att school.
i just barely finished school so i am starting to pace up on my drawing skills again since i havenīt been doing any particular work lately.
But now i have 3 requests i must atend to plus some of my own work. Trying to draw myself as a manga figure :D but i havenīt come up with a desent face yet. I find it that it still doesnīt remind of me. Oh and i like that you do your own inking.
You maybe donīt know this but if you do your own inking your doubeling your improvement since you are "re-making" your picture. Hence the result is that later on you will draw faster. I however am even more slower than before. I havenīt drawn in a looong looong time.
(School sucks! they didnīt even give me that drawing lesson i wanted so much)
But i am making like 6 pics now including the manga version of me :D so i will propably get back to my regular pace. Even so i still got long ways to go. Heh... every artist does since they improve te rest of their lives :heh:
anyway. Keep up the good work. You might use those drawing skills to have it like a job on the side in the near future :D

Actually she's sad because Kurenai mentioned that they learned how to work as a team. But Hinata always did bad in the missions. So she's depressed because she can't be of any use to the team in a time of need. Also if you're reading right to left, she had the sad face before Kurenai mentioned the killer thing (and yes it's Hiro). ^^;;
Thanks for the comments everyone. They do keep me motivated to keep working on this thing.

Nah, actually I also draw alot, and I know how hard it is to come up with good looking stuff becuase of all the time and dedication it takes. *Sigh* i wish I had a freaking scanner so i can put up some of the cool things I have drawn :D

If anyone knows of a good site with a listing of comic book sound effects, can I have the URL, please? As you can tell I'm having a hard time thinking of words to describe sounds. The best I could think of was 'thud' for someone landing on the ground. So yes I need some more help in this area. Any help. :p Here (www.oop-ack.com/manga/soundfx.html) is a website that has a good list of Japanese "sound effect" for manga. Most of the web pages are containing information on how to write manga script. This is the only one I found that has a list for the Japanese sound effect with english translation. I will edit if I come accross any webpage that contains English sound effect. Btw, that's a kick-ass picture of Yume..

my 2en. screw the background. it is nice to know vaguely where the characters are, but since this IS a fan manga, i dont think many people will mind if you have a floating background every once in awhile. or just enough so we know where the characters are.
Damn it. I made the same mistake twice. (a nice crappy grammar error).
It's fixed now.
And yeah, for the next few pages, my backgrounds won't be as complicated. So I guess the next few pages should come along pretty fast.

They're from cloud village actually. ^^;;
And no I'm not an art student. Everything is self-taught (they don't teach drawing anime here. =[)

Maybe if you wanted to get things out quicker you could draw the characters and then add the backgrounds way later?
Also I was kinda thinking that your Hiro character kinda reminds me of a cross between Kakashi and Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist.

Hey those are very good ! I like the way u draw the backgrounds .. the characters and poses are alright although in my opinion i can draw the character likeness better (that is not an insult its really actually a compliment lol) but i do like your backgrouns and poses they are very good ! i dont think i have the patience to draw out the backgrounds, ive tried drawing manga before and the characters always come out fine but everything else is screwy lol and isnt near as neat and well drawn as yours, I like it what your doing very much keep on doing it ! lol
is this manga just a 1 time deal? or are you planing to make more issues to continue the story, or is this going to be 1 long manga book like 40-50 pages?

The lines of the characters are a bit unsecure though, try to make stronger ones, nevertheless I admire you for your work and the time you "use" doing it.

Well since I drew Hiro before I saw FMA, that means they're stealing from me. *goes off to sue* hehe...
but seriously, yes the face is similar to kakashi's but there are plenty of differences. Like, different forehead protector symbol + not going over one eye, different color face cover thingy, different hair style, hiro's eyes are white (no he doesn't have byakugan :P) and that's about it. The rest of his body doesn't have anything even close to kakashi. Wee~
As for the multiple issue thingy. I most definately want to continue the story, and by that I mean, I want to finish it. But I also want to get production underway for an original manga based on a story my brother has written. The way things are going, I'm probably just going to have 1 issue that's really long. But if I can, I'd like to have multiple issues about Hiro + Yume's adventures to places we havn't seen yet. That would be cool to do as well...

I suppose. But it would be nice if I had some help. Professional manga dudes have like 4 assisstants that help them with the manga. I.E. Inking, writing the words, comic tones, clean up, etc.
I have no one to help me. So I end up having to do it all myself. Like I said before like 5 times, if I didn't have to do it all myself, the manga would be on like, page 20 something by now. None of my friends are good enough to ink my pages for me (you better believe they'd screw it up :D). So I'm on my own. Plus 2nd semester is going to start in a few weeks so I might be getting more homework and assignments. You know how it is...
