It was a hard choice I must say because Hina-Ichigo is super-cute, Suiseiseki is lovely and is quite devious, and Souseiseki is so kind and caring. So I guess I went Suiseiseki because the things she does is hilarous and the avatar seconds my decision.

My runners up would be Hina-Ichigo for 2nd favorite because she is cute and in a way very naive. Souseiseki would be my 3rd favorite because despite looking like a tomboy she is kind and caring.

So there is no point in hating any Rozen/Enju Maiden for killing your favourite doll or something like that. They can feel sadness or loneliness too.

It's great to see ppl still posting to this sub forum, I absolutely love RM. It is without a doubt my favourite anime. I've been feeding myself fan stuff to bide the time until S3 comes out (it will come out and don't try to burst my bubble!!!!).

My favourite is as you might have guessed Hina followed by Shinku and Sui. I have yet to get the name Hina Ichigo in any online game that I have played, but I will do it one day!

Oh yeah, i forgot to add something...Suigintou's my first favorite doll....and second favorite is all of other dolls equal. :D

I recently finished Rozen Maiden, and I found one of the most impressive aspects of it to the visual designs of the dolls. They're just so beautifully made and designed in unparalleled detail. Not that the character depth is lacking either, of course, they're all very, very distinct. It is fortunate that this was a multiple-choice poll, as I think only that can do a show with so many great characters justice. Now, here are my five favorites, my top five, if you will.

1. Suigintou. From my point of view, she was the most beautifully designed doll, the details and dark colors made for one hell of a visually appealing character. Her outfit was very representative of her character, and her white hair was the icing on the cake. Cold, determined, seemingly evil, but capable of displaying acts of kindness and love, she was the most interesting character in the show. Suigintou was also very proud and arrogant, even more-so than Shinku. She was an enigma, a riddle, and the reason I liked the OVAs as much as I did. Her tragic past helped me understand her better, and also gain affection/sympathy for the character, I think a lot of people can relate to her feelings. She rose from being a weak, discarded specimen, to a capable fighter.

2. Barasuishou. Again, I must comment on the brilliant visual design. Rivaling Suigintou in beauty, Barasuishou was a lavish and impeccable being. Her purple theme seemed very fitting, somehow, and her crystal spikes was my favorite special ability. She was manipulative, ambitious, strong, backstabbing and treacherous, but I still liked her a lot. I would have liked her even if it were not for the last scene she was in, but after that, I gained infinitely more adoration for her. In the end, she wanted to be loved by the person she herself loved the most, just like all the other dolls. Her means might not have justified the ends, but I was still very sad to see her crumble into pieces in the hands of her master. An emotional scene for me, she will be dearly missed.


2. (tied) Suiseiseki. Even before I saw the series I had a feeling I would like this one. A lot. Her outfit is very cute, and I love her characteristic desu desu ~~
Heterochromia is also a trait I favor heavily, for some reason I find it very attractive. The way she teases Hina Ichigo never gets old, and her tsundere side shines when she tries to convey her emotions to Jun. One of my favorite moments was when she held Jun's mathbook upside down and had him read her equations as a bedtime story, she looks awfully moe when she blushes.

3. Shinku. Shinku is charming in her own way. She's strong, capable, and tries her best in any given situation. She showed remorse and development in the series and is kind at heart. It's funny how devoted she is to a television program, it seems so out of character for her, but yet somehow it also feels right at place. Visually she's quite appealing as well, her eyes especially caught my attention, a very sharp shade of blue. Given that she's the "main doll", I was almost bound to like her no matter what, given the amount of screentime she received, but I think I would have put her on my list even if she had been just a background character.

4. Hina Ichigo. Yeah, she's a crybaby and a general nuisance altogether, but I can't help but smile when she shows up because she's just too cute. That's it, really, it's enough to win me over, being as cute as she is. She did actually show some character development as well, though.

I have Heterochromia...and it's rare to see a character with that. In fact, I know only other characters than the Seki Twins that have it, is Asuna K. from Mahou Sensei Negima!

My intention is not to conform to your beliefs, I have given reasons for why I like all the characters, so if you disagree, why not argue your case? I'd be glad to defend my position, or even change it, given enough reason, but just saying you don't approve won't make a dent.
The reason for not including Souseiseki is simply put that I do not like her enough.

She doesn't have the same charm as her sister. It's not that I mind the boyish behavior, or that she's not a member of the Jun household. Souseikseki was always at the edge of her seat, ready to jump up and fight given any excuse to. Her loyalty to a demented old man is admirable, but I still don't really care for her, at least not in enough to make her one of my favorites. To me, she's inferior to Suseiseki in every aspect.

On to the heterochromia topic. I'm not sure how common the condition is in real life, but in animes, it appears on quite a few characters. (Urumi Kanzaki from GTO and Mayumi Thyme from Shuffle, to name a few) I think it's very helpful for giving them a unique look.

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree, it is a subjective matter, after all, but I'm always happy to discuss the matters, especially since I just recently finished the series and haven't really reflected too much on the characters yet.

Well when I first watched RM I didn't like her too (well not didn't like. There isn't character what I don't like in MR).
I had my eyes only on Suigintou.
But at that time, I didn't know about RM a lot.
Then I watched it again.
And then I've seen how hard must be everything for Souseiseki.
She know that world isn't that easy.
And that's what I like about her and Suigintou.
She is not naive like others. But I like them also for other reasons.
But Suigitnou was of course always on first place for lot of reasons..
Like her sad sad past, her personality and everything. Along with Megu.
But then I've read (well seen pictures... can't read japanese) manga.
And there's completely different story..... But I still liked Suigintou.
I wanted to Suigintou and Megu be together forever.
But then I realized something and my fav. character became Kirakishou (she has been in anime only for 3-5 seconds)

I have not read any of the manga (I read little manga in general, due to the low availability where I live), so anything I say is based on strictly on the two anime seasons and the OVAs. I can see your point, Souseiseki does have a fair amount of life experience, both hardships and actual combat experience, it seems. She does know how tough things can get, and that there are times when you have to be serious, life is not all fun and games. This is definitely something Hina and Kanaria lack, and to a certain extent, also Suiseiseki.

Suiseiseki is more of a kind, warm and loving character, somewhat naive perhaps, but still right in her approach. I'll give Souseiseki +1 in my book though, having thought a little more about the whole thing.

Souseiseki: she's the rozen maiden whom I personalize myself as. She's beautiful ( i'm not:sad:) she's protective but also has ambitions, is sometimes agressive, etc. She rocks

Suigintou: gin sama was a good character but not one that amused me until i saw ouverture which practically made me hate a bit shinku and love my daughter because she spiced things for the future ( i'm bad buahahahahah)

Hina-nano: she's cute and made me cry in traumend (sentimental heart) and my friends say im a crybaby hahahahahahaha so they call me ichigo

Well, I find 'stinku' offensive, so ffs stop referring to it. It's a matter of respect. Other people are going to admire different characters than you, so respect that and don't call those characters names. I hate Gin, but I'm not going to call her Junk here.

As for who was right in Ouverture, I'm obviously never going to convince you guys of Shinku's innocence, and you guys are never going to convince me of Shinku's guilt. So I'm not going to comment on those events in Ouverture any more.

Yes, Shinku kind of changed her attitude after Suigintou's death in the last episode plus she didn't take her rosa mystica. In Traumend season, you can see that Shinku feel gulitly about her older sister's death but when see Suigintou in sixth episode, she was happy to see her alive again as apologize to her and ask her to forgive Shinku. Of course, Suigintou was surprised at that which she left quietly.

From even Gin's definition of a Rozen Maiden is that they strive to become the perfect being and as she was never completed she physically, she out of all the maidens was the furthest from being a true Rozen Maiden. When Gin breaks Shinku in S1 shows that Gin believes that the physical aspect of being a Rozen Maiden is important. Of course spiritually that's a different matter as even Shinku commented on the depths of her feelings.

Gin fans who fixate on just that single scene where Sou chops Gin in half and then blames Shinku for Gin's mental state are doing Gin no justice at all. Overture is a beautifully told story if taken as a whole story and not just a few highlighted scene shows the tragic destinies that all of the maidens are heading towards. It is Shinku and Jun who strive to break from what I see as a sick game. We have yet to know if the Alice Game is truly what Rozen wanted, but right now I don't believe anyone can argue against that it is Shinku who is trying to ensure that everyone one has a future and not just a single doll.

Hina had an amazing amount of growth, I was so touched with her death scene it still makes me sniffle. From the spoilt selfish Hina to the one that tried to comfort everyone before she left was such a huge difference. The thing is we don't know what Hina was like before she got traumatised by being locked away. From S1 my interpretation of her is that she just doesn't want to left alone. Which makes her reaction of Tomoe being late understandable (not excusable). Jun being a hikimori staying home and Shinku deciding to expand her servant collection gave Hina a chance to grow into the loveable and most fun Hina that I love.

In my mind there are only 2 maidens who truely wanted to not fight from S1 onwards and that is Sui and Shinku.

Hina didn't seem interested in becoming Alice as I think she was fighting to keep Tomoe in a selfish way.

Kana wanted to prove herself to the other maidens (and to make Mitsu happy and most probably give her someone else's face to grind off).

Gin wanted to fight at first to become Alice, but then for Megu

Sou has always wanted to become Alice even at the cost of her twin sister *grrrrrrr*

Out of all the maidens it is Sou that disappointed me the most, her actions in S1 whilst fully supporting her master trampled on the wishes of her sister. In S2 she could not see past her wish to please father which again trampled on Sui. And of course finally in Overture where she chopped the at the time feeble Gin in half.

Sou in my eyes is missed the most important thing to her and that was the person who was always by her side which is her sister. Hopefully when she revives (yes I am hoping for all the maidens to have a good ending) she will realise her folly and at least put Sui on an equal footing as her other goals.

Hear, hear! At first, Shinku said to become Alice was to defeat her sisters and collect all the six rosa mysticas in order to become Alice. But at the last episode of Traumend, Rozen himself tell Shinku that there are other ways to Alice beside the mindless game. So there is a chance that every doll may become Alice being-like but that's my theory. Because no matter how it is desire to have a perfect girl called Alice, there are flaws in each human (take me as an example) yet have perfect in themselves too. Think it of as the balance of human soul. So each doll have a little of Alice inside them. That's my theory. :p

Well if you read the info on wiki, then first of all you should download BitTorrent Client.
There is lot of them.. Most Famous are µTorrent (http://utorrent.com/), BitComet (http://bitcomet.com/), Azureus (http://azureus.com/) etc... I prefer µTorrent... After you install it, all you have to do is download torrent with file you want in it (movie, music, game, pics etc) and open that .torrent file in the BitTorrent client you installed. Then that torrent will download the thing that it is in that torrent from that bittorren client... it's kind of complicated ^^'

I think it is possible for the maidens to all have a happy ending as long as Rozen changes the requirements for Alice which he did in the end of S2.

Hina - Though Jun, Shinku, Nori and even Sui, I think she reached her happy ending. It would be better of course if she was alive to enjoy it :(. But she I believe achieved what she wanted which was not to be alone.

Shinku - Is much closer to reaching hers now she knows that killing her sisters is not the only way to become Alice. All she needs to do now is to save Hina and Sou and convince her sisters that killing is not the way forward.

Sui - Is kinda the same as Hina's, but she is a little more complex in that she wants to be loved too (centre of attention). For her it is to be together happy with her sisters and meeting father is defiantly a lower priority, what a gal!

Sou - Hers is making Rozen happy, so all the bugger needs to do is go "I'm really happy with just the fact I know that my creations are happy". But since the requirements have changed she no longer needs to do the Alice game.

Gin - To save Megu which has even over ridden her desire to be Alice. This here I believe makes Gin such a wonderful character. Her love from Overture and S1 imho were a very psychotic form of love. But meeting Megu I think has let her character blossom and given her a real heart that is starting to understand that love is a 2 way process. This can be achieve I think by either Megu realising that she wants to live or if her illness is terminal, some N-field funky magic. Personally rather then being stuck in a hospital hooked up to a machine I wouldn't mind spending eternity in a nice n-field with the person I care about the most.

Kana - Acknowledgement by the other maidens (which she is starting to get at the end of S2) and to keep her medium happy, which Shinku et al granted her. Now all that needs to happen is for them to establish the Rozen Maiden fan club and get a club house (bastard bunnies not allowed)

Bara - For her numpty of an creator to get his head out of his arse and realise that his own creations are beautiful in their own right and to stop trying to compete against his master.

In Lucky Star, characters aren't enemies, so it's easy to like many of them at the same time...

In Rozen Maiden, some characters are rivals, etc, so it's easier to "choose a side".

By the way, I like multple choice because.... I can't decide between Gin-sama and Suiseiseki. They're both my favorite :heh:

So I can best fight with Souseiseki who is very fast and can dash without almost any pause.

I'm still a newbie at Alibat... and still I choose only Gin-sama and Sui ^^;

I suck at dodging, so I like to use ranged attacks.
I like Gin-sama sword attack (but I usually miss :heh:), and the twin laser.
That Sui C attack is cool imho. Her B "bomb" attack is powerful, but using it is really difficult to me...

Suigintou's best weapon sure is S and P...
twin laser imo really sucks...

Dodging isn'z really hard.. You just need to train against each character at least some hours and you will discover the way of dodging each attack.....
I already know how to dodge every attack of Suigintou and Shinku (with Kira) (I've won against them 5 rounds in a row on HELL, also everything perfect :P.. haha I finally can show off with something XD).. Now I'm training on Suiseiseki..... It's extremly hard to learn how to dodge her rockets on 100%

yes. Bara couldn't hande all the Rosa Mysticas in her, and she started to brake. Then Enju hugged her, then there was huge light around them.. And when light dissapeard, Enju and Bara weren't there...

So we've gotten to the point of physical differences between Rozen and Enju eh? Never did make a post on the characters so might as well do so here. Was interesting looking and seeing who I voted for back then.

Must've been a weird day: Detective Kun Kun

Pretty easy to understand giving a vote for Gin. I seem to have this pattern with characters that I end up liking quite a bit. First I don't like them all that much due to something they've done. But once getting the background and watching them for longer periods I can understand them and come to like them more than most characters. Mostly just appreciated the incredible effort just to bring herself to life without support. Struggling desperately until finally getting that Rozen Mystica. Can understand her anger as well which makes me cheer her on.

Has been a while since I watched the series, but for some reason still like the Desu. Certainly can understand the annoying factor, but found her character fun and liked her most of the time. Really not a lot to say, just a gut feeling on that one.

Oddly appreciated Shinku's character development during the second season. Even giving that apology which I can understand after Ouverture. While not a huge fan of her behavior at times, had some good attacks and became someone who cared a lot about her sisters especially when things were at their worst.

Sometimes Jun just gets me annoyed. At least after watching the end of the second season again. All the holy stuff of not destroying your enemy because you'd be as bad as she is. Let's ignore the fact that returning home means picking up the scattered remains of the others and waiting for Bara's next attack because she won't quit. It'll just keep going.

No matter what you've gotta give Kun Kun some credit. If he can have such an impact on many dolls he's a powerful dog to be sure. Rivaling even Rozen in terms of influence :).
