Site rules? They can be found at the top of each sub-forum :p :heh:
... sorry bad joke
Anyway, it was a toss-up as to whether I should move this to "Forum & Site Feedback" or "FanSub Groups".... still not sure which. We'll go for feedback for now...
I'm sure the fansub groups are as grateful for your appreciation, as are the staff here at AnimeSuki :D... Thanks for the nice comment and I hope you enjoy your time on the forum.

If you don't know where to start, then start downloading Princess Tutu (http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/24.html). Actually we've got a whole sub-forum called Suggestions (http://forums.animesuki.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15) where people will try to help you figure out what anime to download next. There are a lot of people of are very devoted to helping you figure that out. Seriously though, try Princess Tutu (http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/24.html). Don't be put off by the name!

I think he should build up his resistance to crappy anime by watching Sister Princess Repure first! After watching that, not only will he think that everything looks good in comparison, but he'll also like just about every anime out there!

NoSanninWa is right, Princess Tutu (http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/24.html) is a very good choice, I personally enjoyed it :p
:hmm: well yes that name really sounds kind of girly. Princess Tutu? yikes but i'll try it since alot of people say it's good.
But back to the reason i'm here, this site kicks ass! and i have a few questions. 1)how many animes are on this site? 2) when did this great site start?
P.S i cant thank you guys Enough for all this work you do at putting all these great animes in one place, and that they actually work. Thanks!
i have a few questions. 1)how many animes are on this site? 2) when did this great site start?
Answers
1) If you really, really, really need to know, then count them yourself :) Click on each link on the Series (http://www.animesuki.com/series.php) page and add them up.
2) It's now about a year.
2) when did this great site start?
It's now slightly over a year old. The "site" started out by posting torrent releases in one
torrent release thread on a somewhat anime unrelated site - The Emulator Zone (http://www.emulator-zone.com).
That list grew to big after a time, so on 2nd Christmas Day/St. Stevens Day/Boxing Day 2002
I wrote a few scrips to put the list on a domain I already owned but did not yet use:
animesuki.com
It took a few days for the site to gain some hits, but after that visitor counts exploded,
with a couple of thousand more visits (see Nedstat icon on site) per day every week.
well the site a little over a year old huh? neat, so i didnt miss to much. well you certainly did a exellent job on this site. And i think i will go and count how many anime's are on this site, i'll be back!
well that took me about 15 minutes to count all that. and theres "195 animes", give or take a few.
P.S i love this site!

Its only 1 years old? Then why do I see members that joined as early as 2001?
Btw, I agree, this site is cool. The forum has quite alot of active discussions and participations. :D

It started as a sub-forum of GHDPro's original forum, Emulator-Zone. Because he had an interest in anime as well as emulators he started an anime BitTorrent site. Eventually the anime sub-forums were getting enough traffic to deserve their own forum. (Especially since the otaku were annoying the emulator fans.) I won't discuss the troubled history of Emulator Zone since then, but when AnimeSuki forum was created GHDPro copied over the whole message database as well as the user database. All of the people who registered for Emulator Zone are still registered in this forum to this very day even though some of them wouldn't know anime if Chiyo-chan was tattooed on their foreheads.
I see... that's abit of history of Animesuki for everyone. Thanks. :D
Hmm started as a forum huh? cool. okay i have more questions. 1) appox how much time does it take to sub one anime episode? if it is lets say 24 minutes long? 2) how do you sub an anime episode? yes i know i'm stupid, and the answer to the second Question is probably simple but just thought i'd ask
P.S This site is the best, thank you! :)

Just give me a raw and I can sub an episode in about 20 minutes. I can't guarantee quality, accuracy, or legibility though.

A 24 minute episode subbed in 20 minutes? Wow, you are good.

Yeah, but you know, I don't give a damn about those things called "Timing" and "Quality". I like to put all of my subtitles in a giant blob right in the beginning. Also, I don't know much Japanese->English, so I have to do the translations in Jellyfish first, which, as you may know, is not well known throughout the world for its clarity.

der 20 minutes? haha ok i think he meant a good finish fansubbed product well just expect it if they have time to release it about a couple hours after its aired if they start but they have to do distro and what not so expect it to be up within probably a day of it being aired in japan and you have to realize that your time zone might be really far from japan so just find a series and see when it airs in japan and see how long on average it takes for it to get released-to me its just usually a day unless you get it in pre distro :)
wow thats pretty fast but i'm not sure if i speak Jellyfish very well though, but thanks for answering. :hmm: well i keep finding more and more anime's i like and my poor Two 20 Gig hard drives are full to the brim! so i guess i have to start burning stuff, when ya got high speed DSL you really need 50-100 GiGs. this site is a God sent! keep up the great work! :)
well thats a lost cause! i was at this site and it seemed sort of like this one but with a bit more different stuff and i had to wait until i posted 10 times before i could get anything, i thought okay fine. after done that i got sent the rules and thats when it got stupid! it was free for 30 days or 25 files or 100 MB which ever came first, and that doesnt even cover 1 episode of most anything! then it costs like $5 month per each 1000 MB Oi! and seeing that i have no credit card then thats a total waste of my time. thats one big reason i love this site! lets me finish this rant by saying thank you again to all that contribute to this site! :)
more and more i see just how lucky i am to have found this site and just how thankful I am to the people who make it possible for me and many others to get all this great anime all in one place. Thank You keep up the incredible work

If you're planning on hanging around the boards i recommend you go through the rules (http://forums.animesuki.com/announcement.php?f=2) at least one time :)
I'm new here too, and I'd like to thank the AnimeSuki staff as well for their hard work. This site is excellent, straightforward with no annoying ad-banners and very functionnal, and thanks to it (and thanks to the fansubbers of course :) ) it has provided me with an amazing wealth of intelligent entertainment :) There's nothing like it !
LMAO @ THE EMULATOR FANS. :heh:
Wait a minuite......I am one. :frustrated:
Edit: Ok. Since I just received some bad rep for this post, for the record I Pmd NightWish and asked how long the forums have been going for. NightWish then replied by showing me this thread, and whilst reading through it I noticed that this forum more or less was a forum for Emulator fans, but once GHDpro* introduced anime to his forum it basically took over.
And NightWish had made a funny post in this same forum about this, that's when I made this post. So you see it wasn’t as random as you first thought. It was just meant to be a joke......But obviously someone has no sense of humour or is just simply ignorant and just bashes anything they don't understand.

People have said this before, but I really haven't seen a forum quite like this one with such an involved moderator staff, which helps keep the forum running smoothly. There are definitely threads here that I am not interested in at all, but unlike other forums (not just anime-related, all forums in general), there really aren't any "worthless" threads.
Thanks to all the staff, keep up the good work! Thank you to NoSanninWa also for having patience with this n00b.
