View Full Version : The Simpsons Movie (2007)
Hehehe! May be old news to some of you, but I just saw The Simpsons Movie trailer at my cinema and needless to say, I was pleasantly, pleasantly suprised. That is, when I wasn't holding my side and laughing my appendix out. I am especially looking forward to this because, IMO, nothing, nothing can beat the downright mindless Simpsons humour. Yellow dudes FTW!
Both trailers can be viewed here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462538/trailers). Its trailer #2 you'll want to watch. :)
I can't find much on the plot yet, but apparently, from the trailer, it seems Homer's family has been taken away and he sets out, as a very unlikely hero, to save them. Ah, the possibilities...
It releases 27th July 2007.
Haha, that was hilarious.
I can't wait. I've been tired of the family-friendly talking-animals animated movies coming out.

I wonder if they will ever run out of ways to describe (or show) exactly howstupid Homer is....?

They ran out about 3 years ago...

I wonder if they will ever run out of ways to describe (or show) exactly howstupid Homer is....?Unpossible.
Just look around you in real life (IRL). The depths of human stupidity and examples of such jackassery are endless. My neighbor (the one to the left of me, not the divorced woman that owns a goat to the right) is infinitely stupid (so I've come to realize). Just when I think he couldn't possibly out do what insipid act he pulled off last month, he does! I fully expect to see his name engraved on a Darwin Awards (http://darwinawards.com/darwin/)' trophy in the future. Not trying to be cruel, but the guy flat out lacks common sense, but to his credit, he does possess a cute self-deprecating sense of humor (that becomes old quickly when we're playing Euchre).
Just when you think stupidly has reached a new low, someone throws in a shovel.
Owning a goat makes economical sense. No one can argue against reserved meat. I don't want to forget the coat either. *monir takes the shovel and starts digging.*
Yay, for the Simpson movie. I just hope it won't signal the beginning of the end of the Simpson.

Man, The Simpsons will always be my favorite, as it helped me grow up with my childhood for 18 years...
Dan Castellena, voice of Homer, can never be replaced. And to all the VA's for the simpsons, wonderful job and hopefully this movie will be hilarious as always.
And it's here. Coming soon to theatres everywhere will be one of the most spectacular events to ever happen to box office. The Simpsons Movie! Who remembers the Tracy Ullman days? Not all at once now...:D
Watched the trailer where Homer gets bashed by that big ball and somehow I got the feeling like I had seen it ten times before. Animation-wise the quality seemed really good, though, even if the story will be yet another stereotype.
saw the trailer last night it looks pretty good..one movie i want to see..

Unpossible.
Just when you think stupidly has reached a new low, someone throws in a shovel.
Well...
To quote verbatim:
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Anyway I'm definitely looking forward to this. 'nuff said. xP

The Simpsons has lost it's greatness a long time ago. Might as end it with a bang, eh?
The Simpsons has lost it's greatness a long time ago. Might as end it with a bang, eh?
That's what I'm thinking. I stopped watching the show years ago, and that's pretty much when I stopped watching TV altogether (*nerd alert* though I still catch an occasional Discovery Channel show every now and then). I figure since it's already lost a lot of its touch, it may as well go out, and go out big. IMO, it would be much better than to drag it on and make it fade out in a kind of "withering plant" fashion.
I think this movie is about ten years to late. So what are they going to show in the movie that hasn't already been done in like the last 500 episodes? Besides better animation I can't think of much of a reason to watch this in theatres.

I haven't exactly reacted positively to the concept of a Simpsons movie. It sounds nice when you first think about it, but it could go both ways. Is Fox just trying to milk the franchise more? They could have released it 10 years and it would have probably gotten a better reaction.
well it looks funny so its on my list to go see it.
but it shuld have come out sooner might be a bit better then.

ooh dear God i saw the trailer on TV.. though i already knew it was coming out but they dubbed it in dutch! dear God, i almost fell of my chair and my mom gave me a funny stare but that sounded just TOO wrong, Simpsons have never been dubbed ever since it started airing in my country up untill this movie.. homer sounds too wrong in dutch!
The stores here are starting to fill with Simpson merchandise. I walked by a whole rack of shelves filled with "nekkid Homer Dolls" last night (ok he did have a towel on). I kept asking where are the "Marge in a towel" dolls while my wife dragged me out of the area. :)

The movie comes out tomorrow!! YAY im happy im gonna see it 2morro lol im gonna come with advil cause im gonna cause pain with how hard i laugh!!
I was dragged into watching the midnight showing of it just to get a t-shirt, and now I'm back (and sleepy.. *yawn*). I don't remember the last episode of The Simpsons I ever watched, but it's been a few years. Anyways, the movie did make me lol a few times, and it's amusing enough that I don't mind getting it on DVD whenever it comes out - it's one of those you'll want to play when you've got company over (if they're not into tabletop RPGs).. It's pretty amusing and the jokes are timed a lot better than they were last I watched the show, plus the movie quality is nice compared to normal 2-D cartoon on TV.
Ah, and Green Day is in it, and that makes it all the better. :p Gah, so tired. Forgive any mistakes - I'll go through this post tomolo if I remember.
And the audience was really annoying... Or it may have just been me because there were two five year-old boys behind me talking throughout the whole thing and kicking my seat...
Edit: nearly forgot to mention.... there IS nudity. That was timed very well - I never thought I'd be shocked at seeing a cartoon depiction of a penis... lol... So yeah, beware showing to the little ones, I guess, as if the language weren't enough of a reason (as was the case with the folks behind me).. O_o;

good thing Barts pee pee was seen for a brief moment since everytime he's naked you can't see anything, that made me laugh. But that skate boarding pee pee hidding scene kinda reminded me of Austin Powers 2. LOL

Having just watched the Simpsons The Movie I was shocked in to see on the 57th minute [better put it in a spoiler for those who have yet to see it]
a clapping scene that was just like one in the final of NGE
From the get go you could see how this movie is a political satire but this scene was really out of place.
Did anyone else feel this way or have I just watched NGE one too many times?
PS. Feel free to move this thread to another topic if it belongs somewhere else.

I cant agree more. I watched it at my friends house and I thought like:
"This aint worth the 20 euro's for movietheatre."
I found it very disappointing. Not much jokes and I could watch 3 episodes in that time and have more fun then! :heh:

This movie WAS great in my opinion. It's not just straight up sitcom, but with an enticing plot and some drama that ties everything together very well. I never thought I would enjoy it (I don't really like the TV series), but I did. However, I can see where that went wrong. If I don't think that it's like the TV series, then it's probably going to not be a favorite of Simpsons fans.

I have to agree with The Chaos and Dxon.
The series is better IMO.
Though, I must say, the movie was far from bad. The plot was pretty decent, and the was a fair amount of times I laughed.
More so, the trailer with the 'Spider Pig' bit in it made me laugh more than I actually laughed watching the Spider pig bit in the actual movie. Though, im still not tired of when Homer was on the roof trying to nail. :D
It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. There were some very, very funny moments, but for some reason, the conclusion I felt came too soon.
Loved the bit where Bart skateboarded = )

20 euro's? Wow, that's a lot. Just HOW MUCH popcorn do you buy at the movie theater, anyway? :heh: Just kidding.
I saw it and I thought it was funny, in a ridiculous kind of way. Just when I had thoguht they had run out of ways to make Homer stupid, they prove me SO WRONG. XD

20 sounds about right...
I saw it a couple of months back. It had good moments, and a lot of it was very funny. I think that many people had high expectations for this film and felt left down. I went in with low expectations and was actually quite suprised

I bought me the Movie on DVD yesterday. I loved it. Loved the jokes, the bit right at the beginning when Homer makes fun of the church people.....the pig...etc
Not the greatest i've ever seen, but it was a movie worthy of having the simpsons in it. :D
I also enjoyed the cut scenes too....with the alternate ending ;)
I saw this movie last night for the first time. It was awesome!
