just wondering when is it gonna be out
Patience young one, in due time.
Hmm, that was nicely done.
From the time Misa appeared outside the door until the end had me on the edge of my chair. Already knowing whats to happen is one thing - though actually being able to see such a scene animated is something special. The scene shown many interesting sides of Light.. though the main one has to be:
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/5852/bscap0000nc3.th.jpg (http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bscap0000nc3.jpg)http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6821/bscap0001ej1.th.jpg (http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bscap0001ej1.jpg)
I believe this to be the point where people are able to decide just evil of a person Light Yagami may be, and what side he's on. About the scene - i believe the actually hug part to be spectacularly.
Winning animation helped a lot with this awesome episode, & i'm waiting for the "Misa is stupid" comments. -_-

maybe i'm stupid but it seems that all torrent downloads for this series show 0 uploaders and 0 downloaders?
not to mention that episode 13 is not posted yet people seem to be getting it somehow from anime suki...?? is there something i'm missing here?
Dang...Light is evil! Did you see that look on his face at the end? WOW!
I had no idea that, that girl was going to break down like that. That was kinda suprising.... I have no idea how things are going to go now, CAN'T WAIT FOR 14!
Couple of strange things in the ep tho....
http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/8240/hmmmm1ag9.jpg - he got a little problem there? ^^
And when Light comes home and is talking to his Mother, the door is clearly closed. You then get a couple of sec of Light, and back to looking at his Mother and the door on the left is now open at the same time the trigger word is used so you hear Sayu getting up from the table or something and running into the hall.... mmmmmm magic doors :P
hmmmm I comment on the random pointless stuff.

It's great that you like the series (it is very good), but it has been licensed by Viz. The good news is that Viz has plans to release the episodes with subs for download soon after they are broadcast in Japan. Yes they will be charging for the service, but you'll be supporting the industry by downloading them legitimately.
I also doubt that any legit fansub group will continue subbing the series in light of this.
Wasn't a part of the original definition of "legit fansub group" that they stop when licensed?
Hm as suspected from the way the last episode ended, it looks like Light "conveniently" meets up with Misa. Although blatant "coincidences" are common in anime, in this case I feel it is overdone, working in Light's favor too much providing him with an advantage every time. It hurts the battle of wits between L and Light and makes it a battle of luck in Light's favor instead. I'm seriously losing interest here.
As both Omni and Garten pointed out in their respective blogs, I do also agree with them that Ryuk's subtle but deliberate inconvenience forgetting to tell Light about the whole set of rules and Shinigami's nature plays a trigger for placing misfortunes and frustrations upon Light at expense of his identity being found out just for Ryuk to amuse himself or have fun.
However, for newcomers I must tell you that this inconveniences, which are conveniently acted out throughout each of the anime episodes, serve as a reminder that Ryuk's neither an ally nor enemy to Light, L, or anyone's else.
Shinigami are neutral, ambivalent, and ambiguous to the affairs of humans and do not become involved unless the Death Note holder (Light's in this case) coerces the Shinigami in some way to help him or her.
As we have seen in the previous episode, unlike Ryuk Rem's not that careless to let herself exposed her vulnerabilities to Misa.
Ok. During the previous episodes I thought of Misa as that capricious, valley girl with gothic fetish, lacking common sense not to disclose too much unneeded hints that would compromise Light and the Death Note.
But for some reason for this episode my outlook on her spun a 180 degree revolution. I became warming up to her and felt attracted, particularly with that black and revealing dress which makes her hot; her teary eyes; and that sad expression which makes her moe, though from a morbid view.
However, Misa's critical flaw, as I have posted in the previous discussion thread, that she's malleable. That means she's getting herself manipulated by Light to her own free will. And unfortunately, she has exposed too much of her vulnerabilities before Light.
The worst part of the deal she's well aware and conscentious that Light made it clear he's not romantically interested and not at all with her, nonetheless, she'll follow him everywhere even if that means also to a path for damnation.
Because she feels indebted and appreciated for lifetime to Kira for having killed her parent's murderer.
But, still I dislike how Misa deprecates her self-worth and individuality just for Light to embrace her with a diminutive hope, even if she's willing to put up and live a lie; evident when she gets all emotional, bursting to tears for attempting with every word to attain Light's trust; I do think that Misa was truly honest about her life story, but again the problem is that she gives it all to Light; her anxieties, frustrations, ideals, tragedies, all of her life issues as a deliberate act for Light to put her into submission of his will just to earn his trust.
Her initial anxiety upon arriving at Light's house and meeting him was played out naturally which made her reaction very believable; after all, she has nominated herself as Kira's #1 fangirl, so her nervousness upon talking to Light face to face was fitting, and I daresay it looked also moe to me.
Interesting enough as Light finds out from Misa, she's actually invested brain works to be there at the Blue Note café evading the cameras, not standing out to call attention or appearing conspicuous thanks to the disguise she was wearing, and yet with the Shinigami Eyes she was able to identify Light.
It was also a wise move from her not to had approached Light once she had identified him on that day, so as to keep her existence a secret from unnecessary suspicion.
But again she commits another mistake in the reply tape she sent to the TV station, adding the detail that "found" Kira, and thus inadvertently placing Light on L's wary suspicion percentage to maybe 4% - 5% again; L's suspcion percentage about Light's being Kira fell to 1% before Kira 2nd's crisis.
From this point onwards, the plot is going to thicken up.
P.S. Anyone noticed Sayu's priceless face when Misa stepped in to the Yagami's home?
Either Sayu thinks Misa's plainly weird given the latter's fashion sense or maybe the possible implication that she was shocked to find out that her brother never told that his "girlfriend" was such a sexy and hot beauty.:heh:

Fantastic episode, though it seemed too short for some reason. I can't really understand what's going on on Misa's mind. Sometimes she seems completely dumb, some other times she can be a little intelligent. Who knows, maybe she won't be used by Light so easily. And I'm not so sure that the story about her parents is true...
PS. Light's smile at the end was priceless.
Did you miss the sticky saying it's licensed and the license discussion thread? :/

You're wrong, as written in one of the past interposals about the rules of a Death note, Shinigami do not know the whole rulebook. I believe Ryuk states this in the first episode, and also he says in this episode the detail (eyes can't see another owner's time left) had been unknown to him.
The second rule states that "The DEATH NOTE will be rendered useless if the victim's name is misspelled four times."
Didn't Light do that already in the very beginning, when he was trying to kill the guy harrassing a woman outside the convenience store by listing all possible spellings of his name? Does the rule have a different meaning, did the author forget about this, or ... ? (Avoid manga spoilers please)
EDIT: Thinking about it now ... I guess the rule means that the Death Note will not work on a particular victim if that person's name is misspelled four times, and not the power of the notebook as a whole. And I suppose it is possible that Light got the man's name right within the first four tries, and the Death Note took effect even though he kept writing the wrong kanji after that.
Sayu doesn't point out that she can see Misa's panties as she did in the manga. How depressing.

Was going to ask the same question.
About Shinigami and their knowledge of the Death Note.
Remember before Light held Ray up, he was talking to Ryuk about his results of testing the Death Note and it's capabilities. Ryuk was surprised as even he didn't know that you can write down the details then fill in the name later. So it's seems Ryuk truely doesn't have a good understanding of the Death Note.

Indeed - hopefully this isn't a sign that more shall be edited.

Ryuk only knows the basic set of rules for the Death Note - though you'd think that after translating a lot of it into English before coming to the earth realm that he'd take the time to understand most of the rules a lot more. Ah well, thats just a side of Ryuk we all know. :3

Awsome episode. I gave it a 10 out of 10. Hopefully L wont die so fast because of Misa's apearance. He is such a cool character.
OMG someone please slap me and tell me this anime isnt real. WTF man im really drawn into it! Did you see lights face near the end when he was holding her? Totally evil man!
Things just keep heating up! Who would of thought that the girls parents murder was killed by light! What a twist!
This series is definetly outstanding. I wonder if there is another plot though! Those death gods seem rather untrust-worthy. Hmms.
Anyways cant wait till the next episode!

After Light says to himself, "It is not possible to see a Death God on the 30th of May as it is mentioned here. Even if they showed the game on normal TV..." Ryuk, peering over his shoulder, begins to chuckle. Anyone have any theories as to why? Usually Ryuk's spine-tingling laughs mean he knows something, especially when there's a cut to a close up on his face.
Great ep. The way she found him so easily is actually great, because Light slipped up a little bit. To be honest, I underestimated Misa. She covered her tracks quite well, and was able to pick out Kira, if she wanted to, she could of killed Light for his 1 mistake. The the grin at the end of the episode looked evil (or joyous, who can tell anymore?), what does Light have up his sleeve now? As for name being mispelled 4 times, logically he spelled it right within the first 3 or perhaps there were only 3 different spellings of the name.

Very interesting. But I think a lecture from Light would have been better. :heh:
Dammit I hate the waiting for the next episode to come out :@:@:@
Damn this is going crazy. Maybe Light will take Misa to L and kill him.
To all those who thought Light's smile at the end was evil. Wouldn't you smile like that if you were in his position? I know I would.
I have a idea why light was so happy at the end. In essence he now has the "eyes"
He could kill anyone any time now, even his upmost rival.

The fact that Light is overjoyed by the prospect of using (and abusing) another person makes him EVIL. A normal person would be afraid because Misia can be a nuissance (dependent personality disorder anyone?) and if she's lying, she could kill him anytime. Instead, he's happy that he has a slave he can work over.

Hm, he might order Misia to kill L and that would be the end of that rivalry. But first she would need to see L and get his last name. After the third day and L still manages to live, can't Light just tell Misia to kill L from a videotape? Or would she need to see him in person to get his last name?

In essence a Death note user need only the whole face to see the name, doesn't matter whether it's in a video or in real life. A person wearing a helmet or mask of some kind will also be safe from the death god's eyes.

Just saw the episode. Very interesting, now Light will have a weapon to kill L. Can't wait to see what happens. BTW did anyone see the preview of 14.
Two things that I'm posting now after realizing about them now that I have watched this episode for the second time.
1. It's evident that Misa deliberately left the message for Kira to meet at Aoyama on the date specified in the diary. Luckily for Light, L suspected only as a meeting between Kira and Kira 2nd when read in the entry that an exchange of notebooks will take place, so the Death Note remains a secret.
It's more obvious that the name of the place was an anagram to the meeting location, Aoyama, for Kira 2nd to make contact with Kira.
2. I don't know if it's a goof or not, but when Misa put on the disguise she as well put on contacts that made her eyes brown-colored. However, the night after discovering Kira's identity while browsing for Light's name she still has brown-colored eyes. But when she goes to the Yagami's home her eyes are blue.
In fact when Misa is introduced at the end of the eleventh episodes her eyes are shown blue.
Is it a goof? or Misa puts on contacts to make her eyes look blue, and, therefore, brown is the natural color of her eyes?

At that time light thought the only way one person can see a death god is by just touching another person's death note. So he ( light) was thinking about how she ( Misa) could ever see his death god and identify him.
Now Ryuk laughs because he ( Ryuk) knows that another person who has a death note can see other people's death god. Ryuk tells Light about that fact later on, So light now knowing the facts come up with the plan of going in group so She ( Misa) cant distinguish who Ryuk is following.
Yet still Light doesnt know that Misa can identify him, because she cant read another death note's owners life span.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions just post :) .
God damn, Light is EVIL!! And I say that as a compliment. He basically has Misa as his own personal puppet and gets to use the "death god's" eyes without having to give up half of his life. Plus she is pretty good looking despite her mental issues and now Light has a girlfriend kinda.
Seriously, Light is the MAN!! Having a dark, evil and cold hearted protagonist is awsome, so much better than a goodie goodie.
Comparitevly slow paced never the less exciting esp with appearance of Misa . The shows coolness factor is directly decided by L's screentime for me .

I wonder if I'm in the minority in being unsatisfied with how Madhouse has drawn Misa in this episode. Anime Misa just doesn't seem to convey the cuteness Obata's Manga Misa has, even Movie Misa was cuter than this! This is not taking anything away from Hirano Aya's performance, though.

Great episode.
Anyone have a guess at how Light will introduce Misa to L, she told his mother and sister she came from the University. So if L would somehow learn that Light has a supposed girlfriend on the Uni it is highly likely that L would've seen her before if she were indeed attending classes. Seeing as Misa is not actually studying that might cause some problems for Light in the future. That is assuming that L still follows classes with Light? which I'm not completely sure of.
Still, L might get suspicious if he finds out Light suddenly has a girlfriend without him ever noticing it. He might even hear it from Light's father, so trying to keep it from L would make Light even more suspicious.

Kick ass episode
Seems like things are advancing in Lights favor. He gaining more and more information everyday. I think he was a little taken back when our Kira II turned out to not be so dumb, and managed to show up at his house. On top of that she has pledge complete loyalty to Light to such an extreme that she gave up her death note to him. All for the sake of getting Light to date her. We all know that Light will use her for his own methods but in the mean time he has wonderful new power in his possession the shinigami eyes and he didnt even have to give up half his life.
For some reason i can see Light eventually liking this girl for the pure fact that she is completely devoted to him. However she is still a loose end ad he could chose to kill her whenever he wants. Ryuk seems to be enjoying the whole chain of events. I still think Ryuk knows something that hes not sharing.
What i am curious about is Light the kind of person to get distracted by a this girl being around and having such strong feelings for him. can see and will she be a distraction to him. He said i dont know if i can be a good boyfriend but ill try. was that all bullshit or is he serious. That sadistic smile he gave at the end while he was hugging her made me think otherwise.
Looks some other people caught this too it says that if you misspell a persons name 4 times the book will rendered useless. Is this true? and i could have swore that Kira did that already
I didn't like Misa at first, but now I don't want her to get manipulated! I guess I like seeing Light struggle as opposed to things being falling so easily into place for him. And I think there needs to be more L, or more "L-gets-an-advantage" scenarios :P
Also
When did Misa get her Death Note? She says that a year ago her parents were killed. I had thought she had her's before Light got his. If she had the Death Note beforehand, couldn't see have just killed the killer herself? I'm confused about her morals. She would kill her friend if Light asked her to, but not the murderer of her parents? Maybe I missed something >_>
Sorry if I don't make sense. :heh:

Most likely, the crazed lover confronted Misa after her parents were killed. Then after Kira killed her parent's killers she received a Death Note from Rem and understood how Kira can kill and decided to help him.
Hehe,Light and Misa make a good couple. They're both insane mass serial killers who don't value human life at all.

Light is awesome. I hope he kills all them evil dudes. Now he has a hot chick and her note book. Will he write his own name in her book wrong so she can't kill him? I don't know if that would count.
L is cool but I hope Light wins. Since it's not real I can cheer on the bad guys! If Light is even a bad guy.

Wow... just wow. This episode was great. I thought that Misa would only be a problem to Light, but she is indeed smart, and a great weapon for Light.
Well, don't call her smart yet.
From her mistakes, L has already figured out there are more than one Kira, and from this episode, that they have yet to make contact.
In other words, she takes precautions, but not nearly enough to keep someone like L from figuring her out.

Wow, Aya Hirano is amazing.
She can sound mysterious and alluring as shown in her casting as Lumiere, tough as Haruhi, cold as Shikimi, seductive as Reira, and now she pulls of a desperate tone of voice. It was really cute and moving and I loved it!
Everything else was solid, but didn't awe me like Aya's performance did. The plot's moving along steadily, and with Misa in the picture it will start to get more interesting.
About Misa's intelligence level: Misa is indeed pretty intelligent - for your average person. What we need to remember is that L and Light are super geniuses, among the smartest in the world, and Misa being someone who is very smart/clever/creative only against your average person does not compare. Being caught by L is not a great measure of her intelligence level, as unless you are someone of Light's caliber, you won't be able to slip much of anything past L.
For those calling Misa "stupid": She's probably smarter than you are.
So then, what in your opinion has Misa done that is even close to being smart?

So then, what in your opinion has Misa done that is even close to being smart?
Sending in the tapes and taking advantage of Sakura TV's greed to broadcast a message to the world. A hidden message in the "diary" she sends, that misleads everyone into thinking the event on the 30th is most important, in which Aoyama would have been completely ignored if L/Light weren't there. Covering her tracks up well enough with the tapes so that she can meet up with Light without seeming incredibly suspicious (even going as far as to cover up her fingerprints), and probably other things I'm forgetting at the moment.
Not nearly L/Light level, but smart enough to fool the normal police force.

I personally enjoyed the moment when she outsmarted Light to get his name and appearance, while at the same time remaining hidden herself. Though of course it would probably not have happened if Light had known his life span couldn't be seen.

Nice epi. Misa did put alot of thought into finding out who Kira was and not getting caught. But the look on Light's face at the end made that epi, he is evil and I love it!! I also like how Ryuk kinda stammered when Rem was talking about some of the death note rules :D

and oh dam...light has finally found a useful weapon in the form or misa...i feel sorry for her to think that light would just be using her for her eyes and that love is pratically non exsistant >.<

ITs very hard to impress Light but the look on his face when Misa showed him her deguise pictures and when she mentioned how she found out who he was because she could see his remaining life was priceless. I think we have to give credit where credit is due. she may act like an airhead but i thinks shes smarter than she lets on
Nice episode. I loved the voice acting for Misa. I thought it was a lot better than previous episodes had led me to believe it'd be, but in this episode it was accurately emotional with great intonation, etc. And I'd love to add that this episode has what I'd call the perfect balance between fluid animation and good art; I enjoyed all of Light's facial expressions (especially the last one) but the animation didn't seem stunted at all. All in all it's the best I've seen in several weeks, maybe since 7 or 8.
