KNow of some i would like to play, but i dont like paying 15-30 bucks a month.

I used to play diabloIIxp, but it got old real fast.

so i mostly stick to first person shooters multiplayer.

But if i had the money and time, i would diffinatly get back on everquest, and try planetside, and i heard anarchy online was good.

gunbound isnt exactly an rpg, but its free and its fun..

Its an anime version of worms, and has more fun in it... you can chat on it as well..

But you can also upgrade your character and buy armor and clothers and stuff to increase stats..

And the more you fight and win the more experience points u recieve...

you can have a max of 8 players on a map going at it...

here is a link if ur interested...

And rememebr ITS FREE!!!

Do you use firewall p3psi ?.. I fixed black screen problem by disabling my zonealarm.

I'm not going to bother read what has been posted or not.. but here are my suggestions, sorry if they are repetive.

Diablo 2. I loved this game. (I had all level 80+ chars, all the best items in game, I had no life when I had this game, had to sell it ^^. Full Tal Rasha, Windforce, SOJ's by the dozen, etc) If you don't enjoy Diablo something is wrong with you.

Dungeon Seige. If you like Diablo, you will like this also. They are similar.
Everyone hacks online though, so that portion is kinda disapointing. You can still have fun though.

Vampire: The Masquerade Um.. your a vampire. You have vampire powers. You kill stuff. It's fun for a bit. I havn't tried out online yet, but the single player is fun. It's an old game... It'll be cheap.

Not out yet.. but you can always wait for World of Warcraft.

A few that are coming to my mind:

http://www.ragnarokonline.com - Ragnarok Online, Probably the most addicting, cutest and popularst MMORPG out there. International status: Pay 2 Play | European status: Open beta after 2nd february.

http://www.dragonraja.com.my/ - Dragon Raja, the graphics arnt too good, but it can be fun and addicting. Don't know if it needs paymet, used to play it half an year ago, and it was free then.

http://www.fungwanonline.com/ - Fung Wan Online, pretty good 3d graphics but a bit empty. Chinese Kung-Fu / Martial Arts role playing game, very nice, i can recommend it.

http://www.talesweaver.org/ - Nice MMORPG, check it out.

http://www.fairyland.com.my/ - Another free mmorpg, looks a bit childish but its okay, has a battle system that resembles Final Fantasy ...

Anarchy-Online: Payed for that for almost an year, was quite a fun time but it gets boring because the missions are always the same...
But it leaves a lot space for character customization. PAY2PLAY

Dark Age of Camelot: A friend of mine is addicted to it .. PAY2PLAY

Phantasy Star Online: Do i need to say more? PAY2PLAY

World of Warcraft: PAY2PLAY

Final Fantasy XI: PAY2PLAY

when i renember more ill post em

This thread must have come down from heaven for me :D I've tried both Survival Project and Gunbound, both of which are pretty good. Its not something I think I could/will get hooked on though. I'm looking for an RPG (which those two are not) that has a great story, battle system, etc.

I looked at Tales Weaver, but it doesn't seem to have any translation at all to it, and unfortunately I don't know any Korean. Does anyone have first hand experience playing it? And fairyland.....well I'm just a little skeptical about playing a game called fairyland :heh:

But seriously, with China and Korea making games as great as these, I think I'm going to have to start studying those two languages as well. Damnit, I should have been born azn :twitch:

Yeah, Rag Online was free BETA for a couple years and they just recently decided to start charging people to play it. Free Beta is a good way to get people hooked on it long enough that they feel like they SHOULD pay. Honestly, though, I wouldn't pay for Rag Online. The translations from the NPCs are horrible and the game gets boring very fast. I am sure this is true with almost all MMoRPGs. None of them can keep players for very long. Appearently they added quite some stuff to iRo, right now there is a big event running "Battel for emperium" or some thing, and they fixed the translations too afaik.

Its like a big guild war over castels... kinda like dominion mod from UT i think xD just in rpg form...

I've played EverQuest for over a year now. Sort of 'finished' the game though, nothing 'ever' or even 'questy' about the game really. If I could rewind I probably wouldn't start it again.

I've been shopping around for a new game for a while now, and finally settled on Horizons, though Middle Earth Online looks nice too (not due out til end of the year) so I may keep my eye on that.

Of course, these are all pay to play, I have no problems paying $15/month for something to keep me occupied for the majority of my day. It's a hellova lot cheaper than going out to movies or clubs or even just transport costs to get around the city. (Which, for any of, would be$20+/day) so when you look at it in that regard $15/month is pretty damn cheap entertainment. Then again, I'm a hermit and am happy not leaving the house, so these games suit me rather well when I'm not watching anime. ^_^;

someone here mentioned talesweaver as a good online rpg.....

for those who have been playing and have been following it closely.... is this one of those that will be starting to charge soon cause I don't think I can finish this game quick by starting now and if it gets off beta like in about 3 months then I don't think I wanna play... unless enough people says its worth paying to continue playing that I might think about taking it up.....

agreed about fairyland... most childish looking game ever... i thought RO was bad but this tops it off...

another one that you guys can try is
www.pristontale.com
this one will be testing for a while more ...... estimate at least another year or two.... so go ahead and try it out... bad part is that leveling is quite slow even in a party...
Why play online RPG's when you can play gunbound instead!
Yes Gunbound is a kickass game. Good graphics, addicting, and it's free.

But, lemme tell you some things before you jump in.

First off, your going to have to play for an easy 15hours at least before you can buy anything cool. Also, this is a game you have to pick up and learn fast because the majority of people are pro's. There are alot of a**holes(your an obvious n00b with chick status and people start cursing at you). It's hard to get a good rank because most of the time there will be a lagger. So like the battle will start off 4 vs 4, but if one of your teammates has a bad connection(which happens alot) then all of a sudden the battle is 4 vs 3. Get the idea? Make sure you don't battle a guild unless u have friends with ya, because in my experience if your people who are all of the same guild then alot of the time your actual teammates are really apart of your opponents guild with a dummy account(so they can easily get gold and gp). This happened to me! it was a 2 vs 2 battle, my 2 opponents were from the Vamp guild and there avatars had some really good equipment(which made me think they were pro's!) Through the match I was kicking ass and was proud of it, the opponents kept missing and my teammate seemed like a noob, then when I almost killed one of them my teammate starts attacking me! He tried to lie saying "No, i'm a noob, I didn't mean it." Well, I would have believed him if he didn't shoot me 4 times in a row!!! UGH!

Well, that's all I have to say. remember my words

I play a few RPG's online, but I tend to prefer FPS's online. Online RPG's are not up to any calabur to be called an RPG IMO yet. (NWN beeing an exception, more on this later)

I probly should have tried WW2 online. But so far I have been looking for a good FPS / RPG for a while now. I am getting tired of FPS's where every one is using the noob cannon (every FPS has one, some gun that is just point in general direction press fire and demolish all matter within a 2 mile radius (ok not quite that bad but close)). I tried planet side, but it was HORID. seriesly the planes moved faster than people, but were talking a jet that moved at about 30mph equivalent. 2 of 3 teams have anti air weapons that are almost garunteed to hit (one was fire and forget lock on, the other is a guided missle!)
Infantry battles were even worse. hits are registered 100% client side. so people on 56K are ungodly killers (basicly you could not dodge them, I have been shot with a pistol through a building.) and most teams rifles take 8+ hits to kill some one. depending on range, but at the range you should start shooting at people 8+ hits. Hell even the sniper rifle takes 2-3 hits. and hit location means nothing.

I play BF1942 mainly, with either EoD or XWW2 mod. both are great mods, and make the game fun.

As for RPG's . . . well that is much harder to say, I play EQ rarely now, EQ is basicly 100% hack n slash with equipment upgrades. Recently I started playing Star Wars galaxies again. I wish I could drop my faction affiliate with the 75% reduction in PvP damage and knock down nerfs. My character went from a great PvP setup to the new PVP system nick named pokemon (grab your pets and have at em, biggest pet wins). Prior to pet changes you could snipe the pets owner in a good 1-3 hits, making pets less effective than actualy getting the first shot ect (origionaly range and weapon were the key factors to wining). So far I am not impressed with SWG still. they added in mounts, player cities, and vehicles. all the stuff they promised on release. other than that, nothing new.

I know massive multiplayer games are made to please the masses, but with most of them running 20+ servers you think they could setup some fine tuned rule sets for various servers so people could find one within thier game that suits the users player style. As of yet it seems the choices of servers for most games are only PvP on / PvP off. Take SWG for example. Had they made a Care Bear server wher PvP damage was reduced 75% for the whiners complaing because they died after getting shot twice (Um HELLO YOU GOT SHOT! TWICE! what do you want a bruse?) and left a set of server for more hard core / realism seaking players (aka me =p). I remeber watching Star Wars. Sure I remember some people using / fighting creatures. but when it came to personal combat 1-2 shots people died (funny how that works eh?) not 10+ shots.

Yes I like realistic games. they hard, you die alot, some times you get stuck at points that take you hours days, or even weeks to get past. That is the fun! Yet so many people seem to hate it that almost no game developers stick with realistic combat ideals

The only RPG I find that holds up to the online test is Never Winter Nights. Unfortunatly, although designed with online play options the game was not made specificly for that. It seems NWN was made for a group of people to play with 1 person's PC acting as the server. More like old pen and paper RPG's. Although this is a great idea IMO, it suffers from the main problem pen and paper RPG's do and then some. The main problem is getting a group of friends togeather reliably to play this game with one another. although it removes the hassle of getting people to one location. Yet with the scripting interface this game uses it takes much longer for a DM to setup a game to play than it would for a pen and paper game. As such, unless you live in differnt cities, countries ect. you are better off with pen and paper.
Thier are some worlds that are persistant online play, and most of these tend to focus arround role play over combat (Thank god, people actualy role play in some online game!!). Which for noobies tends to be a bit daunting (any one that has role played a character for the first time in a new world knows how this one goes). Unfortunatly these persitant worlds have a limit on the number of people they can usualy have online at one time, as well as the map limitations of thier server / game. the game does not allow for realy huge areas to start with, and a server can only handle so many palces (dependat on hardware, but these are run by normal people not companys =/ )

Hope my ranting helps a bit. I personaly am still waiting for the MMPORPG/FPS that will make me stop and say "holy @#%^ this game is GREAT!" As of yet, thier is not one.

when i played it i met 3 people lvling with lvling script, really low on people, no point at all taking skills till 50s with some classes,
BUT really great war system, 4 guilds that can war each other for towns etc, did only play about 3 days then quit cuz i got bored, got lvl 44 with a swordsman

Everquest III will feature talking NPCs (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/03/31/news_6092601.html)!

You never get tired of Diablo and Warcraft though; there are always many uptates and new mods for those games that keep them fresh :)

I need info on survival project, is there any fan sites for it? When I search in google it brings up everything but stuff about the game. Grr the name they choose for this game so lousy. Anyway I need to know this. If I use water card will it bonus me if I play on a wind character ?

I watched some pics on alot of MMORPGs and they all sucked ;P Everquest, I saw ugly ass dwarfs and stuff like that.
The only one I play is Anarchy Online (http://www.anarchyonline.com/).
What is Anarchy Online? (http://www.anarchy-online.com/content/game/whatisao/)

Hope my ranting helps a bit. I personaly am still waiting for the MMPORPG/FPS that will make me stop and say "holy @#%^ this game is GREAT!" As of yet, thier is not one.

I'm somewhat surprised that u are one of the very few people who mentioned WWIIO (World War II online). From what I've seen and read, it is an awesome game. Although it is more of a game for the dedicated gamers as 1) u need a fast machine to run the game and 2) there is a monthly fee to play the game.

Oh well, I'd get the game and upgrade my RAM and graphics card just to play it if I wasn't going to the real army this month. :heh: And I always wanted to drive a Panzer too .
