View Full Version : I want more To Heart!!!
I love To Heart. Its so innocent and warm-hearted. It gives me a fuzzy feeling inside. Why did the subs stop at Ep 12? I want so much more! I know it goes on too, the next episode is with the green haired maid. Why did the subs stop? This is such a great anime! Please please I need more! :(
Where did u get episodes 10-12 ? I only see up to 9 here on Animesuki.

The entire series have been fansubbed a long time ago, just not on BT but released on mIRC.
You can find the whole series on kazaa.

They don't stop at 12, All 13 episodes are available on fansub. I think I still have have them on VHS, and I know that I have dubbed off copies for people digitally. I also remember seeing them pop up on my server one day ages ago. Give them time to finish the last episode, and if you are impatiant I usually have it servered somewhere (be it Kazaa, winMX, or eMule)..
if anyone can help me.....i would like to know which group fansubbed the series so that i can dl it on irc ^^
I agree that this series needs to be finished by the groups that started on it. Onegai!!! It is hard to find these supposed "subs" that finished the rest of the series (Ep 10-13) on kazza (all i got was porn) and edonkey (found subs in other languages such as french and spanish but no english).
Wow, talk about bringing up a dead thread. Its two months old :)
But I still stand true! I DEMAND (in a very nice way) more To Heart! I will pay $5,000 (in Monopoly currency) to the group that finishes this great series!

Soldats : but they bring out an episode only every once in a while
Kitsune fansubs : the release one episode a month (i love them 4 this)

Bishoujo-Fansubs as well, but they've been stuck on ep 7 for a while.
To heart was a grand series...
I saw it on tape a few years ago ... =P
I think I had raw DVD rips for the series around somewhere though...
but it's definitely a must-watch series... =D
I was pleasently surpised when I first saw torrents appearing for it many months ago...

There was a group that fansubbed it quite a while back. That was the set that I got (and put on a cd) but unfortunately, I lost the middle cd (6-10) so I'm left with eps. 1-5 and 11-13. I don't know if you'll get mixed up with names or anything (since after I lost the middle cd, I went out and got a dvd version from a store that had it subbed in english, except that it was done quite poorly and all the names were different than what I was used to)
Anyway, the 11-13 ones that I have were timed and edited by Sachi, and translated by Takahito Kamimura. The only other thing that they put on it was 'Not for sale or rent! Subtitled by fans, for fans' so I don't know if they were even a group or anything. But the english translation was pretty good I thought.
Sachi, or Sachi's Distrobution was (and still is I think) an old style, tape fansubber...
they're the ones that made the tapes I saw...

Actually, the Tsukihime prologue was worth 3000 yen because it included a mini-storybook about where Arc came from.

It would've been fine if I had just paid the regular price, but shipping killed me :)

One question: do the places that you buy from have any free shipping? A lot of online stores in Japan have free shipping within Japan.
Or did you buy your Tsukihime Prologue from some company in Japan that charges international shipping?
Dang, I forgot about shipping costs as I usually just pick it up at the store. That would mean you guys have to pay even more extra money to get our DVDs....that sucks. But I take it that for those who go to "the extreme" to buy our DVDs releases are the ones who want those extra goodies.
P.S.: "ugu~" was used because it was done by Horie Yui, who played Tsukimiya Ayu in "Kanon" and Multi in "To Heart." Or did you want me to say "hawawa~?"

I tried borrowing a fansub tape a year ago with To Heart on it [at the university here you can borrow fansubbed tapes and CDs on saturday to the following saturday]
but they ended up giving me the wrong tape T_T
I didn't bother to watch it so I don't remember what was on it.

You mean Nanaka's "hawawa~" in Nanaka 6/17?
Here we have To Heart "licensed" (!!!) by a certain video group called Magnavision. They released the series in VCD format and dubbed it into English. I had no complaints on the dubbing because the dialogue in To Heart is so simple anyway.
But as I recall they didn't include the 'omake' episodes in it! ~~Hawawa!! I'll want to have them if I can...

Well, I only have them on a cd right now (and I don't have 10... only 11-13) and there is no place I can store it on the web (they're ~150Mb each... and my webserver can hold only a max of 50Mb) so I guess if you want it, drop me an email at aso@telus.net and I'll see if I can get it to you through ICQ or MSN or something (sorry, I don't want to publicize those accounts) or if worse comes to worse, I'd be ok with burning a CD and mailing it (providing that there aren't too many people and only if my firewall doesn't allow the file transfer... grr... I hate my firewall ><" Don't know how to set it)

To Heart is one of my favorite series, though as kj said, the ending could have been better.
Has anyone read any of the manga volumes? There are a lot of different ones, but the first volume of Ukyou Takao's 4 volume set (Dengeki Comics) is being released in the US at the end of April... I'm curious to see how it is compared to the anime/game.

The drawings are cute, but the story is...well, mediocre at best.
I guess it's all a matter of opinion for playing the original PC game first which embedded the image of the game's storyline. Whenever I see the anime version or the manga version of such a story which was originally a game, I tend to compare it with my embellished memory that I had done by playing the game.
I should stop playing bishoujo games...
Thanks for your reply. Looks like I might skip it then...
I think it's pretty similar to the situation regarding movies based on books (or anime based on manga).. The people who have read the book are often disappointed when a movie doesn't match the fond memories they have of the stories and characters. Of course, it often ends up that the original was better anyways ^^;...

Yeah, I would import alot more stuff it wern't for the price of importing... it costs roughly $10-$20 CAD to ship any reasonable sized package, and then customs nails me for a good $10-$15 CAD for duties. Thats about... 2,400 yen on top of the price of the origional game/dvd/etc. And the big shops in japan don't ship overseas, so we can't even get the extra's those shops provide, and the shops that sell oeverseas are usually expensive too. But I guess thats the price of being an overseas ero-game/anime otaku...

There is no second season of To Heart. The entire series is 13 episodes and there are 6 neat and funny omakes (which came with the home media releases). Be sure to get the omakes if you want every last bit of goodness from this show.
The first episode of Comic Party TV has a really off-the-wall "guest appearance" of the To Heart main characters (both shows were adapted from Leaf games); I laughed my head off when I saw it.

I once bought an OST from CD Japan or something and they charged me an arm and a leg for shipping and customs charges to USA. I stopped doing that and now rely on American distributors for stuff. Multi-chan > Mahoro
I forgot how important she is in the series. She is the only "minor" character who gets two eps instead of one. Episode 11 has a lot of great stuff.
I really hope the omakes are going to be fansubbed as well.
There are more of those "game into anime" series around. If someone starts up a thread in Suggestions I will look them up again and help out.
I love "To Heart" because it feels so real. The robot/android felt out of place and I have not seen any episodes after the first with her. I will probably see them sometime though.
I love the ending song very much. While I and the girl I loved were slowly drifting apart and there was nothing I should do to stop it, I played that song again and again and again. It also inspires me to write innocent love stories. ^_^
The intro song is OK too.

To Heart aired starting in April 1999 according to animenfo. I'm surprised as much of a following as it has it never got licensed for R1, but maybe if Comic Party does well, To Heart will get picked up too (since they're both Aquaplus).

Yeah I believe To Heart was the fourth or fifth ren'ai game anime to ever air on Japanese TV from April 1-June 27, 1999. So it's one of the earliest romantic game TV adapted anime.
The animation looks good for a TV series. :)

This series fell prey to a decent number of bad reviews on Internet sites. The basic complaint was that the show is not dramatic enough. I am not echoing these complaints, just mentioning them; you can probably find old bad reviews.
The "first wave" of fans was pretty small, from what I remember. The show is getting a bigger following now than it used to have. I can think of two reasons:
1) 13-episode series were much less common back then, and people have gotten used to these series and what they can and can't do.
2) The boom in "harem" anime which came after this series, and the increased emphasis on fanservice nowadays, have lowered the standards for "romance" and "romantic comedy." This series stands out a lot more than it did when it was being compared to longer older series, which have now faded from view.
I think the shortness of the series was a reason why the show was never licensed.
As far as the animation, backgrounds, character design, music or anything else, I think this show stacks up with the best. I just wish they changed the ED song a lot sooner in the series than they did, because the 2nd one ("Access" by SPY ) is so good.

For some reason I couldn't remember that episode so I downloaded 9 (half way through the download I remembered it though). But the study session isn't episode 9! Episode 9 is the culture festival one! Oops :) But yeah I really liked that episode too. I'd say its my 2nd favorite. My favorite is unquestionably the sports festival one, because it makes me reminsic about my high school days....
So this was my junior year of high school at the city track meet. I was supposed to run the 1600m (4th event) and 3200m (2nd to last event), when I discovered that a guy on the 4x800m team said he couldn't do it. So they asked me to do it, and I relunctantly agreed (running the 4x800m and then the 1600m 3 events later is very painful...). My coach told me not to push it and to just stick with someone the entire time (I was the 3rd leg). So when I got passed the baton we were in second place, trailing first by about 20m or so. I easily caught up to the guy in first and was breathing down his neck. He was going SO freaking slow I couldn't stand it, so finally I got fed up at the 600m mark and freaking blew him away and took first place. Then our last leg kept the lead I got and we became city champs. :D Ahhh such fond memories :heh:
By the way, we haven't been introduced to the purple haired girl yet have we? Not the rich, super-quiet magician girl but the other girl with light purple hair and purple eyes in the intro. She must be Episode 12 I presume.
Frankly I think Multi doesn't fit in with the story. Freaking maid robot, what the crap. I don't hate Multi or anything, but she's just SO out of place with this anime.

I like the fact that its not dramatic. Its simplicity is the best part in my opinion. Its easy to relate to, and its just down-right enjoyable. Man this series really makes me miss high school :eyebrow: I love the opening song, it brings peace to my heart :)

Hmm...I'll just spill my mind about To Heart a bit. I finished To Heart long time ago (on poor quality fansubs back then). My high school experience was no where near what To Heart was. A usual school day for me would be skipping class, playing basketball, gambling (not with money, but with stupid stunts doing 10 situps on the cafeteria table) with cards, and general teen tomfoolery; needless to say, way more interesting than To Heart was, and I'm not even listing the more "ghastly" things I do. However I really like To Heart, in fact it is one of my favorites, for one simple reason: The relationship between Akari and Hiroyuki. It's a relationship that I wish I had but never had a chance (why? I moved about 8 times in my life). It somehow makes me smile (and happy) when I see them together. Strange eh?
Whatever happened to Anime-Galaxy? I still have their To Heart episodes from 01-09. But they're not cranking out To Heart anymore...or anything at all. It would be a bummer for me to download 01-09 again from another fansubber who'll complete the series. I don't like mixing fansub groups of the same title.
Oh uh...Mahoro > Multi :heh: .

She must be Episode 12 I presume.Kotone, the psychic girl, was in episode 7, which was about soccer and sick cats. Episode 12 and 13 are more or less about Hiroyuki and Akari, with some other stuff going on that I will not even mention.
The robot/android felt out of place...
Frankly I think Multi doesn't fit in with the story...
At first the episode felt a little out-of-place because of the robot girl...Multi-chan fits the story fine - she is just another character. In the games she has just as much chance to get with Hiroyuki as any of the other girls - and plenty of them were "different" too, if you recall.
Just look at her as a girl who happens to have green hair and weird thingies sticking out of her head. Hiroyuki can do it... that's the point of having her in the story. Episode 11 isn't even available yet... watch it and see what you think.

I've seen this dance in other anime too such as Maria-sama, but I've never heard an explanation about it. Is this a common thing to do at your High School at the end of Health-Sports Day (October 10th)?
Kotone, the psychic girl, was in episode 7, which was about soccer and sick cats. Episode 12 and 13 are more or less about Hiroyuki and Akari, with some other stuff going on that I will not even mention.
Ahh that's right, I forgot about that. Man I really need to re-watch this series.
Multi-chan fits the story fine - she is just another character. In the games she has just as much chance to get with Hiroyuki as any of the other girls - and plenty of them were "different" too, if you recall.
Umm its an ero game right? How does Hiroyuki have sex with a robot  Does she have sexual functionality built in? :twitch: Hmm, maybe I better get me one of these robot mades :heh: :joke:

It's certainly a common way to end Sports Festivals in anime; similar scenes are shown in Azumanga Daioh and Chibi Maruko-chan movie, just to name two off the top of my head.

Just look at her as a girl who happens to have green hair and weird thingies sticking out of her head. Hiroyuki can do it... that's the point of having her in the story. Episode 11 isn't even available yet... watch it and see what you think.
I agree with this - after Episode 11, you see how she fits in to the story. Even though she's a robot, she acts more like a cute little girl, which is why Hiroyuki has a hard time believing she's a robot at first. In any event, she probably has one of the most developed plots in the show (which is to say, it's still quite short, but a little longer than some of the others). I never found her to be out of place... but then I suppose I never gave much thought to what Roots mentioned... umm... there are some things I don't need to know!
Incidentally, I believe that kj1980 mentioned once that Multi was one of the more popular characters in To Heart - it's the role that made Yui Horie "famous" in Japan, if I'm not mistaken (as opposed to her role as Naru in Love Hina, which ended up being more popular in the States).

hm.... wow i didnt know that so many animes here are from ero-games. no wonder when i tell people that i am an anime crazy person, they go telling other people that i watch japanese cartoon porno. T_T
well i agree with the multi-roboto thing. its really out of the regular to heart feel and no cute robot girl deserve harshness like that (they derserve better, like me! =P) but the cutest thing in this epi was akari's soft voice doing the "DORYAaaaa".
epi which i liked the most is the bedroom studying too. that was nice....

2)multi is capable of sexual functions?????.......wow
i too want a multi-robot...

1. "To Heart" was a mega-hit ero-game released by the softhouse Leaf in May 1997.
2. "To Heart" was then released by Aquaplus (the consumer and non-ero brand arm of Leaf) in March 1999 for the PlayStation. (http://www.aquaplus.co.jp/th/index.html)
3. In Summer of 2003, the consumer version of "To Heart" was then re-imported back for the PC by Aquaplus as "To Heart PSE."
4. This year, in Summer 2004, Aquaplus will release "To Heart 2" for the PlayStation2
(http://www.aquaplus.co.jp/th2/index.html)
The release of "To Heart" on the consumer market further spread the "To Heart" mania. This release included professional seiyuus. The two seiyuus from this game that likely owe their current success are Kawasumi Ayako (who played Akari) and Horie Yui (who played Multi).
Although the game was supposed to focus its attention to Kamigishi Akari as the main heroine, many people fell a strong amorous feeling for the little but strong-willed android-robot, Multi. Multi's fame even surprised the game makers themselves.

Has Multi's fame been infamous in some way? I've seen a lot of MADs where Multi is the butt of all the bad jokes/murder plots. (Of course, her falling over in one of the episodes is the main source material ^^;)
I don't dislike Multi as a person, I just felt up to then the show was plausible ... it really could have happened. Well, there was the psychic girl, but she was only a little psychic, enough that you did not really need to believe it unless you wanted to. (I have seen things almost like that in real life.) A robot is just so far over the top, it takes away the feeling that "this could really have happened". Well, unless we learn that she is actually a girl with a mental problem who thinks she is a robot. That was what I hoped for.

Why to heart had a forced end ??? it should have continued with a more appropiate END ? It should have had more romance and more extensive character development :)

Why to heart had a forced end ??? it should have continued with a more appropiate END ? It should have had more romance and more extensive character developmentYou can still find complaints like this on the web, dating from when the show was first subbed. Bad reviews and unfair comparisons to longer romances have kept this series from getting broader recognition.
To Heart was only 13 episodes long, and it absolutely had to get in all the characters from the game. The writing accomplishes a lot with what it has to work with. Hiroyuki is a "camera's eye" character - it really doesn't matter that the viewer doesn't see him directly because of the way the girls react to him.
The girls are developed very efficiently in the time allowed. It doesn't matter that the viewer doesn't get a lot of backstory or always know exactly what each one is thinking. The girls are casual acquaintances and Hiroyuki knows them as well as anyone would after just a couple of days.
There is plenty of romance in the series, even if there is not a whole lot of drama regarding relationships. When Rio is riding home towards the end of episode 6 it is obvious that a lot is going on in her mind. Kotone in episode 7 has a crush on someone else. Akari, of course, is romanticizing her relationship with Hiroyuki regardless of what he does.
It's fun to watch soap operas like Hana Yori Dango, but that show lives on the sheer drama and stupidity of its characters and the plot has to take a lot of awkward turns to keep everything going. To Heart has a much simpler and clearer-eyed view of romance and comes off more naturally.
As far as the end, I can't agree that anything about it is forced. The last couple of episodes are mildly dramatic but they are wrapped up in a way that is consistent with the tone and pace of the rest of the show. If you are saying that the series is too short, well, it was set to be this long and I think the writing is excellent.

The romantic stuff at the end of To Heart is rather subdued. You have to do a lot of reading between the lines as to what the characters are really trying to say to each other. After you know what they are really trying to expess, the ending makes more sense and it becomes a bit more dramatic than it would have been otherwise.

thanks for the info. i like noraml anime and ecchi anime's but not downright hentai anime. hentai anime series are just a waste of time (my personal opinion, no offence). apart from character similarity from the game, i hope it doesnt really evolve into a h-series.

Episode 12 is just released by B-F today, but more importantly, episode 11 came out over the weekend. #11 is probably the best episode of the whole series because it wraps up the theme of "making new friends" in a definitive and touching way.
Hopefully anyone now watching #11 for the first time understands why Multi is one of the better-remembered characters from the game or show and how Multi fits in with the show.
BTW the guy in the park always amuses me because I have no idea what he is babbling about. Some of Akari's comments hold up pretty well, but for the most part noone makes any sense of Multi as a robot.
Although most of the episodes introduce new characters, making the previews a bit irrelevant, the preview at the end of #11 (for #12) gives almost no clue about that episode.
Weird trivia - this show had two ED songs; which one was used depended on which station it was shown on. "Access" by SPY is the one that didn't get used on the video release...

Thank you for that. I'd heard of a second ED, but wondered what the deal was. It's mentioned in the booklet for the soundtrack, but I'd not come across it even with the DVD set.
Anyway, hope they sub the omakes as well as I've never seen those subbed & haven't managed to find a script either.
I gave in to my craving and watched the three last episodes of To Heart as well. I loved the way the two girls solved their "problem". The ending was everything I had hoped for. I still think this is one of the most realistic anime I have ever seen (along with Boys Be...) except for having a robot. But even that was very tastefully done. I don't think we ever learned who the man in the park was, but I suspect it was Multi's "father". That may explain his interest in robots and even why he talked to the two of them. Perhaps Multi had talked about them, or perhaps he had logged on to her data files while she slept at home in the lab.
Just saw this, it was good. Better then I expected. :) Ending was great but I felt a little sorry for Shiho.
Hiroyuki and Akari really remind me of Ai Yori Aoshi's Kaoru and Aoi. :)

Shiho, huh? She is the last person in the entire series I would feel sorry for... "very into herself" is how I would describe her.
The last couple of eps give her a chance to show that she understands what makes a good friend - it's a nice way to round out her character.
It is very strange to me that this series is alternately hailed as "realistic" and chided for including a character from the game who is a robot... I think "convincing" is a better adjective, one which can include a robot racing around the halls cleaning...
so its not "realistic" just becuase of one robot character?
The character's outward appearance is not what make it realistic, you could then also argue that no one in japan has purple hair, or red hair, and no one has large eyes.
The thing that adds realism is the character interaction, the characters here are very, very down to earth, and have normal reactions to things, and not over the top anime reactions or characters.
This is by far the classiest bishoujo game-->anime conversion out there, and i hope the second series is also up to the standards of this one, it would be a real shame if they gave in to current market trends and demand and make it like Green Green or something similar.

Interestingly, both Aoi and Akari seiyuu is Kawasumi Ayako. Both characters are similar.

It's interesting how the last episode went:
Shiho asks Akari if she's going to the Christmas party tomorrow. Akari says "I'm not sure. I don't know yet." She says it because her situation with Shiho is unresolved. Akari asks Shiho if she likes Hiroyuki (smiling while she's saying it). Shiho denied it. Akari knew she's lying and that nothing was getting resolved (Akari looks away - not smiling).
Akari decides to confront Shiho directly. She tells Shiho that she likes/loves Hiroyuki. Shiho says that she already knew that. Akari says that she admitted it and wants Shiho to do the same. Akari wants the situation out in the open instead of hidden. Shiho looks over Akari's shoulder at the photo of Hiroyuki and Akari taken when they were little kids. Shiho realizes that even though she's known Hiroyuki for 4 years that Akari has known him for 10. Shiho decides to sacrifice herself for her best friend. She tells Akari that she doesn't like him. Both of them know what she's actually saying.
Later Akari is not sure if she should go to the Christmas party. She's not sure if Shiho's feelings are still hurt. She phones the party and talks to Shiho. Akari apologizes to Shiho for not being able to help set up the Christmas party. She asks if she can come to the party (wondering if Shiho has forgiven her or not). Shiho thinks about it (realizing what she meant) and then says "What are you saying? Hurry up and get over here!". Akari looks relieved on the other end. Hiroyuki overhearing the conversation rushes off to pick up Akari (even before Shiho has hung up the phone). Akari leaves her house to go to the party and meets Hiroyuki on the way over there. They are standing by the stairs where they first met 10 years ago and the ending takes place there (similar to KOR ^_^). With the snow falling, Akari's last line is that she'll be okay since she has him close by. :)
So is it known if the second To Heart series is going to be based off the To Heart 2 game?:

In TAF2004, at the IMAGICA booth event, they announced that "To Heart~Remember My Memories~" is in production phase to meet the airing deadline on this Autumn's schedule on AT-X. Not much details were given out except that it will be different from the previous show. Does this mean it is a second season of the first "To Heart" series, or is it a collaboration attempt with this summer's release of the PS2 game "To Heart 2," no one knows yet. Either way, it at least will not be an elaborate re-make of the previous "To Heart."

That's good news! "Remember My Memories" makes it sound like a sequel, but as you say, who knows... Is the second game a direct sequel of the first? In any case, as the thread title says, more To Heart sounds like a good thing to me!

They licensed it back in '04 and I remember hearing last year they were cleaning up the video so the release date would be delayed to sometime in 2006...but haven't heard anything since then...Apparently it was demonstrated at their panel at Otakon this past weekend, where they also announced that they had licensed (and are restoring) the ToHeart Omakes as well. The work they had to do was... frightful. Ick. The show had no good masters, and even the Japanese R2 DVD release is a real mess (with "jumping" on every scene change, and lots of film-edge dirt on the overscan). In any case, it really is coming along - no date for DVD 1 announced yet, but it's not forgotten. Whenever it is released though, it's nice to know that we'll be getting the best version available in the world. Hopefully people will buy it to show their appreciation.
Edit: Just as an update, a RightStuf representative stated that the series is now slated for Spring 2007.
Thanks for the news--I'll definitely be buying it as soon as it comes out, it's a great series; I don't mind the wait knowing we'll be getting a close-to-perfect copy.

they shouldnt have bothered to clean it up. the show was produced on a low budget and should have stayed that way. the quality is watchable without question. not that i dont mind getting a prettier version, but i think rightstuf is putting too much money in to their productions lately and not getting enough back. i hope they do well with supergals and ninninshinobu but who knows. i was under the impression that they didnt do well with the first season of comic party? i myself did not purchase it yet, the first season just isnt worth watching compared to revolution. anyway, the original to heart series is short and shouldnt be much of a problem. lets just hope they can cover any costs that they put into it with the DVD sales, so i'll be sure to buy it.

I'll have to find that page with screenshots or something. The masters degraded significantly since the show's airing, and they're a real disaster ("produced on a low budget" notwithstanding). Those in the know say that it looked obviously inferior to the laser discs - why would you want to buy that, if you have a choice? Besides that, though, I really don't get the logic - I'm sure they know the financial situation they're in, and if they couldn't afford to restore it, they wouldn't have done it. While I realize the only reason they can afford to be so "kind" is because of their storefront revenue, I only wish every other anime licensor were so generous. I can see the logic if it weren't a show you liked, but every show deserves this level of TLC (though, of course we can't expect to get it).

To Heart is THE best bishoujo anime ever made... period. No other bishoujo anime, not even the powerhouse ero-game anime boom of 2002-present could beat its greatness (Kanon 2006 still pending). My opinion exclusively, but I've watched oh too many anime like this... and yet I still keep coming back to this classic. Best seiyuu, best music, best pace. I think I have rewatched To Heart more than 10 times already (and I don't even rewatch anime often).
That said though, it was one of the most underappreciated. I think it was way ahead of its time (1999), and with the relative failure of ~Remember my Memories~ and To Heart 2, many people think this sucks too. The slow pace is reminiscent of Kokoro Library, and that would already alienate lots of viewers.
I'm hoping that with the unusual time and effort RightStuf is giving this anime, many of you would notice that there is more to this one than it initially looks like.

Took them three years between licencing the darn series and actually remastering it!? Man it must have been hard finding undamaged prints of this heartwarming classic, either that or they were just being REALLY lazy.
Well, at the very least the first volume ends on quite a high note, with Aoi-Chan's heroic episode. :)
The whole point is that undamaged prints didn't exist. They had to meticulously restore the entire series.

Heh, there’s a rumour the DVD will actually be out soon.... in fact it’s supposed to be out now, but in practice all this means is you can preorder it for the end of the month.... unless it slips again for another year...
I think the delay can be explained with reference to the word that got bandied about re what needed doing: cleaning. Now who do you suppose they asked to do the cleaning?

Enjoy!!:p
You mean Nanaka's "hawawa~" in Nanaka 6/17?
Here we have To Heart "licensed" (!!!) by a certain video group called Magnavision. They released the series in VCD format and dubbed it into English. I had no complaints on the dubbing because the dialogue in To Heart is so simple anyway.
But as I recall they didn't include the 'omake' episodes in it! ~~Hawawa!! I'll want to have them if I can...
Oh the first english dubbed To Heart was dubbed in the Philippines by a group called Telesuccess Productions(the same team that dubbed Great Dangaioh and Corrector Yui) too bad its only available in english dubs without Jap audio with and english subs...The dubbing?Well kinda nice(way better than those Singapore english dubs) but i really hate the voice of Akari and Aoi's dubber in that dubs(voiced by the same person...)that hard accent when delivering lines is what annoys me....Oh they've dubbed it also in Filipino for local TV release(same dubbers) but its still not yet aired up untilnow..
Oh well im looking forward to the U.S DVD video release of To Heart...:D

Just goes to show: Unless you are the one-and-only Nozawa Masako (The Voice of Son Goku/Son Gohan/Son Goten in Dragonball Z), never try to voice more than one character at the same time in an anime.
My rant with that voiceactress is that her voice is kinda lousy(lacks emotion) and her accent is typical Filipino type(kinda hard)but at least that dubber is also the script wirter of the series and the dialouge and translation was good.,honestly there are only three female dubbers and two male dubbers in the Philippine-made english dubs of To Heart..:heh: But in fairness the dubs was good. But im looking forward also to the english dubs made by Rightstuff Media to see whether its par with the other english dubs.:D

Looking forward to Rightstuff's products as well. I'm actually among the few who saw the Philippine-made english dubs of To Heart (one of the first anime series I bought as home videos, and one of the things that jumpstarted me into becoming a major anime fan) - I actually bought the VCD's made by Magnavision (in fact I never got to see even see any Japanese dub of the first TH), so I'm curious as to how Rightstuff's version will compare with Magnavision's, especially terminologies like
when Serio talks about how she and Multi send data back to Kurusugawa headquarters via satellite communication (their antenna ears must have very powerful transmitters to accomplish that! but if the story took place at this day and age, they could have done as well using cellular phone or Wi-Fi technology), she talks about a "host computer" that stores their data, whereas the more appropriate term would be "server" or "database".
I think the translator there had a slight conflict in translations but overall the dubbing was good even if there are only three female dubbers here...
I'll list the names of the dubbers in the Filipino made english dubs of To Heart soon.
(Magnavision handled the distribution of the local video release but its Telesuccess Productions that dubbed and owned the rights)...

Well, I got one of Right Stuff's dubs of To Heart (Episode 4, the one that introduces Aoi Matsubara) via the free DVD from NewType USA. My assessment: most of the girls' voices are actually very similar to the Philippines released dub, and for the most part the choice of words used is different. Hiroyuki though sounds older (in fact he sounds like the english Kyon from Haruhi Suzumiya). It was kinda weird though hearing Akari call Hiroyuki "Hiroyuki-chan" even while speaking english (in the Philippine English dub, no honorifics were used). Also, Aoi didn't sound so excitable and panicky as she did in the Philippine English dub.
Dead thread? Oh man. 6 pages? That shouldn't be!
I've bought DVD1 from RightStuff. I don't wanna hear the dub, as always. Meh, this series is SO moe. I watched the ep2 a few minutes ago, I loved it. I have to watch each episode like 2 months after I watch the previous episode, I can't, I just can't see all that 3 moe episodes in one day ><.
Akari made me wanna cry, becouse she's like a second Tsukasa. Or Tsukasa is a clone of her, only lefting the hair color...
Anyways, I should be buying DVD2...

Episode 3 is my favourite with the enigmatic Serika (I presume you've watched that by now?), I was never all that keen on episode two personally except that it introduces Serika (I like Hiroyuki's obliviousness, with Shiho saying "do you really go to this school?" when he doesn't know who the heiress to a billioniare business empire is. Serika's quiet weirdness is brilliant, and I like the way Hiroyuki happily helps her look for a lizard's tail for her black magic potion without seeming to think it was a bizarre, like he was just looking for a lost glove or something.

To Heart is somewhat old-school when it comes to its portrayal of moe, as it focuses in on the girls' talents, determination, and optimism. You won't see too many damsels in distress who need to be rescued by the male lead.
Probably my favorite dating-sim conversion to date - a surprisingly insightful show with many applications to real-life situations.

Not rescued maybe, but they always need a helping hand. I think perhaps the nearest to moe helplessness is Multi, ironic that an android would be the most dippy girl of the bunch. All the girls have a streak of determination about them though, one way or another, except perhaps Kotone who seems rather fatalistic about her jinxed talent.
