Wow... the new opening is trippy. In a crazy good sense. 8)
Yeah, the new OP is on ACID. Totally insane.
As for the episode
I guess they used up all their strength making the awesome OP and ED. :heh:
The far camera shots suffered a bit in quality. The up-close shots were just as good as usual though.
These current episodes aren't that important anyways. :D
Tons of upcoming characters on the OP. Nice teaser. :)

As was said, I don't know what the guys at Madhouse were smoking to come up with this OP, but I want some too :heh:
just completely over the top and insane...

Can anyone make out what the lyrics of the new OP are? Or a pointer to a site with them?

You know what's funny about the Ending song sang by Maximum the Hormone (the band that sings the OP and ED)?
The music video for that song "Zetsubou Billy" is wicked.
It shows parodies of bunch of other Japanese artists, including Nightmare (the guys who sang the first Death Note Opening),
hip-hop artist DS455, acoustic guitar duo Yuzu, and more.
Then Kira starts jotting them down on the Death Note, killing them all...
Only leaving Maximum the Hormone left :heh:
They're bad, mean, and assholes, but that's part of their metal image.
But it seems they're going overboard when they make video killing of the band singing the first Theme song...
The video is like saying "you're done dmwits, now die. MtH is here to take over biyaaaaaach!".
That new OP is looks so wicked that it's funny. A surprise from Madhouse.
It's like all the characters just took pills and are all out of their minds XD
- Collage of Light's face.
- Spinning Ryuuzaki with red eyes eating his sweets.
- Ryuk chasing after an apple.
- Misa "showing off".
- Ryuuzaki "becoming" a martial artist.
- Ryuk waving an apple around.
- Lots of blood ridden images and evil eyes.
Crazy indeed!
@Aohige
Sounds like another nutty clip XD
I LOLed the first time I saw the OP. It's just way too trippy and crazy for me to not laugh. Especially the bullets flying by Aizawa in mirror shades, Ryuk chasing and dancing with an apple, and lots of evil-laughter Light heads. XD! I like it lots though, but it really is a surprise. I thought I was watching the wrong thing for a while... like someone's Death Note AMV or something :eyespin:
Seeing how L, Light and Misa interact together make me kinda hope they'll all be friends in the end... though I really doubt it. XD. The spinning around Ring-Around-The-Rosy style with L apathetically going, "Wahhhhhhhh.... waaaahh" made me laugh. That and Misa calling L a hentai. But it was cute when she gave L the little kiss. Awww.
Looking forward to the next ep as always :)

ok so in the new OP, am i hearing it wrong or are they sayin
"HEY HEY Nigga SUCK IT HEY YOU Nigga FAGGOT" ???
Someone tell me this is not so, tell me i am hearing this wrong. Do japanese people know that us black folk find that word nigga OFFENSIVE AS HELL??? WTF....
someone tell me that what i am hearing is wrong, and please post what the real lyrics are... if not i wont be able to watch death note any more... I refuse to subjugate myself to a piece of art that i love but in turn spews hateful words at me and my people.

No way for human ears to tell for sure though.

Not a fan of the opening/ending songs but I have to agree the opening animations are great. A pity I'll be skipping past them next time. (I can't stand the music)

What the.... where the heck do you get this idea?
You flame something based on your delusional hearing? :eyebrow:
He's saying "Hey! Hey! Ningen Suck it! Ah Ningen FuXX it!" (Ningen means humans)
The previous slower part is "Hey Hey! Ningen Sanka Ainige Ningen Fuan ka?"
(Hey Hey! humanity praising, running from love, are you humans insecure?)
I know it's almost impossible to understand or even hear their weird lyrics, such is a nature of new generation metal and pop culture, but jumping to strange conclusions without any concrete evidence is totally out of whack.
Hell, I even read on youtube where a guy who thought they were saying "white people", when what they said was "What's up People!?"
which by the way, happens to be the title of the song.
"WTF" indeed. People these days are way too paranoid.
I guess the lyrics hit it right on the nails. Humans these days ARE insecure.
I really do believe they could have chosen a better song for the OP, video is a work of genius though - and i find that the ED is love all around.
Heh, now its time for the story to pick back upto again - and i'm sure anyone can start to believe that be seeing Rem in the episode preview. :3

Not gonna lie.......the new opening song doesn't fit death note at all.
The OP music was really terrible. Admist all the metallic music I could hardly hear what they were saying... Still I love the OP graphics ..

As much as i didn't like the music, I think the animation sequence is amazing, and putting my personal taste aside I have reasons to think the music blends well with the theme.
You can tell its full confusing insanity and madness, yet for a DN newbie like me, I think it suits the theme of Death Note as well as the world around it very well. It's a total chaos inside and outside of the war between Light and L.
In fact, isn't it exactly how the real world is right now? I must say its a pretty nice touch.

Is this new opening is meant to be funny? LOL
Love the many-Light-laughing and badass Aizawa
Just couldn't stand the previous one.
That i can agree with. For some reason its just the two ED's that work perfect for Death Note. First OP was fun, though the song failed at feeling like it should be apart of the Death Note story. I don't even have to talk about the second OP song, though the video is a work of genius.

Zetsubou Billy Music Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XjmLCr8u-Q)
Here's the music video for the Ending theme, Zetsubou Billy.
MtH wrote the song specifically for Death Note, unlike the OP (which was one of their older song). Watch the music video, and you'll see why.
As you can see, Kira is killing off band that looks suspiciously like Nightmare, the guys who sang the previous opening theme song. :D
(as well as tons of other Japanese artists and showbiz people lol)
Too bad they cut out the part where they yell KIRA! my name is KIRA! out of the ending though.
The second half is the better part of the song, IMO, but they mostly only used the first part of the song in Death Note anime ED.
They cut out quite a few lines in the anime version.
It looks like they're trying to pace things up quite a bit.
This episode didn't move much, except for contacting Namikawa, and L convincing Misa.
He seems to be one of the sharper guys among the eight (seven) Yotsuba dimwits.
Does one's look have any effect on their intelligence level in this series? :D
It looks like sub is out, so I'm sure this thread will finally get moving soon.

hmm ~
man light really is exposing L now >.< he has just got to be confused at the whole "reveal the truth" speech given by light ~
and man did i laugh at the kick + punch to the face XD they really need to have another rumble! :D
Soichiro is acting naive into thinking that arresting all the suspects will reveal kira ~
and near the end...misa! L's mind games really works on a girl in love :heh: best quite ~ "ill fall in love" XD
Watch the music video, and you'll see why.
I knew that this song was going to be the ED a while back, so i checked it out then - and clicked onto the lyrics.
I like metal and all but this is too poppy haha.
Slow episode too. I miss real Kira :(
HAHAHA who needs a Death Note when you're L? he took control of Misa and sent her to a likely death in under five minutes :D

ahhh sublimial messages!!!
LOL, I never expected to hear death metalish growls in an anime opening song. :heh:
As for the episode - not good. These Yotsuba dudes are simply worthless adversaries for the main characters, leading to large levels of boredom. And them agreeing to postpone the murders seemed like a copout to me, forcing L and the rest to choose between allowing the murders to happen and making his move too soon would have been much more suspensful and would have allowed for more character development, IMO.
And I am convinced that Misa is practically braindead but even for her accepting such a suicidal mission was almost too dumb. But she is in the new opening so we know she won't die soon which is too bad.
I liked this episode.
Hopefully we will learn more about the 'overall' plan Light setup way in the past to get Misa out of L's radar soon. I think it's cool that Light is a completely different person without knowledge of his Death Note. I myself am interested to see who of the Yostuba group is 'Kira' (If any of them).
The scene where Light was talking to one of the 7 guys was interesting.
After the guy thought thought he might get killed by Kira, but little did he know Kira is on the other side of the phone. Priceless.

Yes, the breakdown was the best part of the song. Most of the rest of it (1st and 2nd verses mostly) suck. If it was a parody, it'll be mediocre.
I repeated the OP and ED just to LISTEN and WATCH the whole thing again. Freaking awesome.
As for the episode itself, it kept me on the edge of my seat even though all the talk was long and boring. Don't know why.

Any awesomeness this episode had [ and any episode that has Misa Misa-chwan is automatically awesome ] was lost because of the OP and END
I mean, seriously, WTF? I detest the music they use for the Op and End.
The previous Op and End were so infinately superior, on a scale of 1 to a 100, the old op and ending is a GOOGOL compared ot the minus 100 hojillion billion gazzillion. of the current OP and end
OMG the new opening song is so bad!
Anyways, I want the Deathnote to go back to Light :(

Wow, I can't believe so many people are complaining about the series right now. Personally, I think this is the series in its true element, and the fact that they're leaving some details out in the anime compared to the manga is only going to make the big pay-off in a few episodes all the better.

The opening song was the worst thing I've ever heard in my whole life. If I was one of the members of this "music" band I would be ashamed of living in this world, seriously. "HEY HEY NINGEN SUCKER, HEY HEY NINGEN FUCKER"? LOL. They think it's smart or funny? Whatever. The ending song is awful too but at least it can be heard without destroying your ears. The animation on both is awesome though.
I liked the episode fair a bit. It was mediocre as every Yotsuba episode, the second part was stupid, but the first part was fairly interesting, mainly because the direction was good (it seems to me that the people in Madhouse are trying the best to make this arc look at least mediocre and not just plain bad).

So uh I thought I saw a couple faces in the OP
Namely Near around 1:04 during the OP. I think I saw Mellow too.
Does this mean that the series isn't ending as soon as we all thought?

Heh, i know that there's more, but I thought the series was supposed to end with an episode count somewhere in the 20s. I was wondering if they threw out that idea and decided to show the entire story. Like if there's an offical word on how many episodes to expect
i know that its idiotic to ask but does anyone no if they follow the Manga 100% until the end...
i really hope for a better/another ending... the one in the manga didnt satisfy me at all.

Death Note has been scheduled to have 37 episodes right from the beginning.

Isn't the manga still going beyond the originally devised storyline?
Anyway.
The OP music was fun.

The opening gave us a hint to some new characters. ;)
Mikami, Takada, Near and Mello were in!As for the episode itself... well... this part is not my favorite at all. I'm looking forward to the rest.
Omg, My ears! The new OP has got to be one of the worst things i have seen. I was left with a :twitch: face for a good while after watching that.... thing. Death Note is the last thing it is suitable for.
As for the ep ... gave it a 7. The corporation guys seem fairly stupid. And not just stupid compared to Light/L , stupid as a whole. I would have to wonder how they manage to run their corporation.
Oh well, not much to say about this ep. Can't wait till the series picks up steam again.

Nice episode. While watching it I had manga volume 6 in my hand..dunno XD I just wanted to read the manga while watching the same episode..yeah I'm lame.
The opening made me laugh..LIGHT HEADS equals me laughing my ass off XP
The ending was ok too but I think it spoils too much =S
And when I saw Mello in the OP I was like (L)___(L)!
Does anyone know btw where I can find the Music Video of Hey what's up people and Zetsubou Billy (NOT youtube) or just the OP and ED.
Ok then.......this episode was a bit bland but.......oh jeez that OP is horrifying. I think I'm going to have nightmares. I've found the worst music I've heard in my life so far. Do people actually listen to this stuff for fun? It actually makes me appreciate the first OP.

It's called metal, and a lot of people love it. Though MtH really does try too hard. OP seems to be 50/50. It also helps that the 2nd intro scream with Light laughing really does amplify the funniness! :)
They used 2 chapters from the manga again. Each Death Note episode is so slooooooooow. -_-
I also liked the op with Nightmare alot more ...
This ep was actually nothing new to me in terms of the storyline.
Since i have read the manga, i might as well tell you that the Yotsuba arc is the most boring of these altogether.
Now theres nothing more than to just wait and see what happens next. The pace they have made it so far is about right to me so...
This ep was decent compared to previous episodes , the pace has considerably slowed L has been toned down and mostly aloof . Misa is funny it was amusing to see how L manipulated her to do his bidding .
It's called metal, and a lot of people love it.
I think you mean Death Metal.
:heh: 7/10 :(
The last few episodes have been kindda too slow for me...I'm used to Light being badass, but he's all goody-goody now and "I will catch Kira..." etc.....get over it already!
I wonder how he's going to find that notebook of his?!
I think when Light got on the phone with the Yatsuba Co. member, L got a bit suspicious again....because the way Light dealt with that guy over the phone...sounded alot like KIRA (the real one)....didn't it?
The op and ending songs are OKAY....I really liked the ones before tho....these ones....not so much!:heh:
Worst.OP.Ever.Goodbye.
Seriously, that was just awful NOISE playing in my ears...They must be on crack...lots of it...
LOL.....yeah couldn't agree more
I like the new OP.
But it can't beat...
ITSUKA... BOKU GA MISETE A... GE... RU... HIKARI KAGAYAKKKUUUUUU
SEEEKAAAAAIIIIII WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
What the fuck at the begining. These episodes suck. i miss serial killer kire and fanatical lover. Greed kKira is...cliche. Serial killer kira come back!
Still I wonder what will happen with Light gets his memories back(If they don't do this, it will suck). I wonder if his hibernation period's conscious will get at him.

The new op sucks big time, i can't stand metal, all it is is loud sounds that makes no sense. Was the director smoking crack when he thought it was a good idea?
Well, The New OP/ED well......... well, they were really Violent, I can't say I don't like them, I think the Music goes with the Animation of the Opening, not sure if it goes with the one in the Ending.
About the Chapter, Yeah, everyone here comes to the same Agreement, that the actual arc is Kind of Boring, but overall, I like the chapter, specially How L used Misa to do whathe wanted...and got to love Happy Friends Circle they formed :p

This episode was pretty good, I liked that Namikawa got some character depth in this episode, and the last part of the episode with Light, L, and Misa was great. As for the theme song, I liked it, had Mello and Near in it, and Light with his memories back, it also had a little L in it, the music's loud, but it's an interesting change.

AhhhH! my F'ing ears @_@
opening was awesome... during the first half of it that is... either than that, the ending of the opening sounded like crap x_X
This has already been countless of times in this thread still the new Ed really sucks its terrible . I can go so far as to say it tortures the listener . The First Op/Ed werent exactly catchy tunes for me , to be honest I found them pathetic . But as I continued watching they caught on The only solace will be something sinilar happens .
But Light theme was stuck in my head from ep 1 :D still is

2007-03-06, 18:49
Well, i liked the new OP, but the Ed sucked...
This episode was good, nonetheless. Now Yagami, Matsuda and the other guy(don't really know his name)are going to work alone... Well, I'd put my money on L, Light and Misa. =P

"lol silly Japanese ppl, deathmetal is for Norway "
but anyways... after listening to the op for like an hour now, and having his crazy headace ... I think im a new fan of this type of music D: dont think my parents will be pleased if I was blasting this x_X
Personally the way I see it, alot of people may say it suxs now, but as they keep watching the anime, they'll get used to it

Unremarkable episode generally, but can I be the first to say how absolutely horrible the new credits music is? Mmm, seems I was beaten to it. Ah well. :)

The opening is an acquired taste. You'll either love it or hate it, but you won't ignore it.
Lyrics are quite fitting too. Light is the 'ningen sucker, ningen fucker' of the series.
The song will make a nice ringtone.

You can just find it horrible and move on, ignoring it. And it's not acquired taste. It's just bad music.
It's funny how people speak so highly of the previous OP (crappy too) now that the new one has come. Ah well.

The scene where Light was talking to one of the 7 guys was interesting.
After the guy thought thought he might get killed by Kira, but little did he know Kira is on the other side of the phone. Priceless.
Yea, I don't think everyone realizes the irony in this. Ever since Kira lost his deathnote powers, I think a lot of people forget that Light was Kira while watching the episode. The creator is really clever.
As for the OP, I haven't really developed an opinion towards it yet. It's really different and refreshing...different from all the normal crap we hear in animes. At least it catches everyone's attention.
So late! I have to catch quickly with the episode rate.
Anyways, it is ironic to see Light putting quite a fight with L to prove that he is not Kira. At the start, he had the DEATH NOTE and became delirious with the ideal of making a criminal-free world.
But this Light almost convinces me that he's acquitted from all guilt. However, L's intuition proves too sharp to keep the possibility outright open that Light's in any other way is Kira, and he's scheming to have L killed in order to inherit the name of 'L' and manipulate the police while being Kira in secret.
What we have for this episode is a stalemate. A stuck-up because the investigation team is quarreling between themselves on the methods to approach the Yotsuba group and laid hands on Kira for once and all.
IMO, I much more inclined with L's approach, because arresting the 7 heads won't conduct to Kira's arrest, and on worst of cases those seven will end up dead closing chances to get clues as to Kira's whereabouts or hismodus operandi.
It was really unexpected that they kept the seriousness of the plot moving while inserting the whole comic-relief with Misa. I am suspecting that L's underneath motives were to judge and test Misa's reactions for Light to keep open also his suspicions about her being the second Kira.
Misa is just an open book outright filled with everything written on it for the inquisitive minds of L.
Light has no other choice but join L's game or else Misa is not going.
L makes another "friend" and receives a Misa kiss, but wait this is just as a token of friendship because Misa does not fathoms the possibility about L dating her.:heh:

HeyHey! 人間賛歌 愛逃げ 人間不安か? (Heyhey, Ningen sanka. Ai nige ningen Fuanka?)
HeyHey! 人間傘下 HeyHey! 人間不安感 (Heyhey, Ningen sanka. Heyhey, Ningen Fuankan.)
HeyHey! 人間傘下 己ら 永遠人間不安感(Heyhey, Ningen sanka. Onorera eien ningen Fuankan)
嗚呼 人間・・・(Aa, ningen...)
Just to correct it. Once I heard it, I thougt it was in English, too but actually in Japanese :)
