I really liked episode 23. Even though the manga story was changed a little, I think it was changed to better. And it was obviously much better than episode 22. As for episode 24, it was nice and also better than the 22th, but definitely worse than the 23th. Probably I didn't like it too much because I don't really care about Keiichi and Belldandy or because I didn't like the color scheme, but still.

I really hated how the 2nd season ended.

^Oh it iS! It's tons better than the season ending episode.=D
Just watched ep23. I'm glad they followed quite closely to the manga on that one. The only difference is the discussion about Belldandy one day leaving Keiichi (I think). I just hope that wouldn't happen in the manga or series though. In any case, I'm looking forward to ep 24. Ep 24 should be very familiar to those people that follow the manga. I'm sure everyone will definitely love ep 24.
I always figured that she would leave. Even though I don't understand Japanese I got the jist of 23.
Just watched the subbed version of 23 and am even more sure of it. My prediction is if(I mean been almost twenty years since first volume came out...) the manga end, it will be one of those bittersweet endings of her leaving and him just having the memories of them together. That is if they even finish the thing. When did the last few chapters even come out? I fear if they ever do finish, it will be in another decade.

Somehow, I have serious doubts about Fujishima doing something so... how should I put it... angsty and dark for the finale. Especially after all the fluff he has been pulling out of late.
The last few chapters I know of the manga, the 'haunted camera' ones IIRC, are quite recent, from this beginning of 2007.
Well, not dark, just one of those " I will always remember the fun and love we had" type things She is a goddess and will return. Hell, it would not work out anyways. He will die long before her.

I'd bet on the manga ending with Belldandy renouncing godhood to stay as a human next to Keiichi, or something like that.
Can a goddess even do that?
Anyways i would prfer an ending with her with him, but you never know. IF we ever get a damn ending. Been 19 years....

Fujishima has been quite spotty on the exact extent of the goddesses' abilities, even changing things as the series goes on.
And really, in any manga, characters will pull situations out of their hats whenever any given situation demands for it.

well, we may want to consider the existence of the Gate of Judgment from the movie which sole purpose is to test the love of couples from different races. maybe it will show up for the ending. well, we may just be able to think what is possible now, but i hope it will be some kind of happy ending between them two.
and yeah, love episode 23 so much better than episode 22. lol... i havent found the episode 24 though. maybe later.

Yeah. I always have the feeling that, should Belldandy one day leave and return, she would no longer be able to see Keiichi again. First thing is due to the fact that Keiichi is a mortal and secondly, I remember reading it somewhere that the time flow in heaven is different than that of the mortal world? In any case, the manga ending may end up like what TigerII mentioned. Instead of a "lived happily ever after" ending, we'll most probably get the "memorable experience" sort of ending. In either case, I'm pretty sure Belldandy's feeling for Keiichi will not change with time. That's the only thing that kept me glued to the series.
Btw, I just watched the subbed ep 24. Its fantastic. Loved the expression on Belldandy's face when she accidentally stumbled into Keiichi's room with Peorth.... And is it just me or there seemed to be a little bit of fanservice in ep24? :heh:

To: DwARd,
If fan service do you mean........
Showing almost a "hentaized/glamour" face shot of seductive Peorth & Belldandy?
or
Urd looking even younger with a dress that covered very little of her beautiful brown body?
or
Having almost all the women (even poor little Skuld) make orgasmics sounds/motions when Kenchi says Suki?
:D
VC
Yeah but you missed out another scene....
Right at the front in the shop where Chihiro called over Belldandy. Belldandy then stopped and place the tray on a table...if you look very carefully, you can sort of see a lil of Belldandy's butt...
Lucky they didn't over expose stuff. But I gotta say the animation quality in ep24 was extremely HIGH. Its very close to the manga.
I liked the animation, but they should've kept it serious at the end. Especially if it's the last episode they're gonna make.
As for the manga ever wrapping up, that seems like a long shot too. I'm following it right now, and there's no sign as of now that it's going to end. September 2008 will have been 20 years. I just hope Fujishima stays alive long enough to finish it.
This episode was good, but it is out of place with the rest of the anime due to how much different Belldandy is. Her open admittance of loving Keiichi is totally out of character here, when you consider how freakin' uptight she was prior to this to admitting her feelings. This is not an issue with the manga, because Belldandy is so much more open there. Other than that, this episode was fine.
Oh, now the series is over, as far as we know, it's time to look back at a couple of predictions I made when this season started airing:
Will definitely see Skuld get Noble Scarlet (you see it in the intro). How this plans to be written, I don't know since it's hard to say whether they will introduce Sentaro to follow the manga.
Right.
Fourth goddess arc and introduction of Peorth will happen. There are already hints of this in episode 1 of season 2. I expect (and they damn well better) the show to follow the manga. One of the better arcs in the manga and brings in one of my favourite (if not favourite) characters.
Right.
Introduction of Hild will probably happen, but like TDRKZ said, how they plan on doing this without Welsper, I don't know. They could just easily write a new Urd story or do the broom race.
Right.
Angel eater is not happening in accordance with manga. They changed Lind too much in episode 26 to follow the manga faithfully. Might still do it albeit altered, which will also allow Hild to come into the picture.
Right, although I did give myself an easy out.
Passing of directorship of motor club to Keiichi will in almost all likelihood happen. If Chihiro is to be properly introduced, this is how it will turn out.
Wrong, Keiichi did not receive the directorship.
Keiichi's parents arriving, unlikely. Takes place way too far off, a cute story, but there's a long way to go before getting there.
Right, even in the face of his parents being in the closing credits. Ha!
Gateway arc - not happening. This won't happen until Peorth is established as a significant supporting character which I don't see until the end of this season.
Right.
Urd's first class test is a possibility, but I'm not banking on it happening.
One of the stories I would have liked to see, but it didnt happen, so chalk another point up to me.
7/8, not too shabby. Ha ha, shameless self promotion. These were done in the S2E1 thread, btw.

Just little things shown here or there not even echii or sentai
but a little fan service if we no longer see the Goddess's in anime form. :(
Hope for a season 3!

The word on the street is, the animators are just taking a break from AMG, but hope to continue it in the future. TBS has no set plans yet, so it could be in a year or two, or it could be never. There's definitely enough manga material left to do another season or even two, but who knows?

It was nice - certainly nicer than the abrupt ending of episode 22.
I suspect this was a "hey, wait a second, we don't have any OVAs - we
CAN'T air the last two episodes since the DVD buyers will have a conniption".
So 23/24 was a spiff for the DVD buyers really.
Now, I think a lot of people misunderstood what Bel' meant by one day
no longer being with Keiichi. It's that he's mortal and has a finite lifespan
and isn't going to always be around. Eventually he will pass away.
It's not that Bel' would one day leave him, it's that simply he's a human
and even though she looks human she apparently is immortal.
That being said, I'd like to see a season 3 of this provided we have some
forward movement on the snogging front. Or something.
Then why did he say when she left he would wait for her return?
I don't think they are immortal because they apparently age, just much, much slower.
I just wish it would end...what if the author passed on before he finished? I guess someone who works at his publishing place would finish?

Wonder if they are at the "Live Happily Ever After" stage? I hope they deal with more serious issues like how Belldandy can stay with K1 forever? Belldandy is a goddess after all and she can't be making Bentou for K1 and waiting for him to confess forever.

The episodes were ok, but I gave it a rating of 1. The show is in jeopardy of getting canned and instead of giving 2 exciting episodes to catch peoples interest, they give these so-so episodes. Looks like there wont be a season 3
I never really thought there would be. It never really goes anywhere and I am sure, just like us, people is Japan are getting bored with K's inability to say or do anything with Belldandy.

Mm, 24 wasn't to bad, but a bit of a downer to finish the season/series on. It was funny don't get me wrong, just didn't seem quite the thing to finish a season with. If they do a season 3, I hope it has a bit of progression with the two of them, maybe some closure on the whole thing. Even if its the apocalypse, a heartfelt confession right as the world is engulfed in flames would be fine! OK, maybe not that, maybe Bell' giving up Godhood to live with him, or visa versa. Anyway yeah, the show needs a little progress (spice things up a little) or closure.
I do like the series, it is a nice change of pace, and I'd still sit and watch through a 3rd season if it is more of S1 and 2 again, but I would love to see a bit of progress on the relationship front, they seem still to shy of each other for people that having been living with each other for that time. Not saying they should be as loose as a bunch of frat members and kegging it up each weekend, but they should be a bit more used to each other now. But things may be a bit easier since he got the words out finally at the end of 24. I'd also like to see some more plot lines played out, or different scenarios, I don't know whats in the Manga, but I'd like to see a little more on the Divine front, maybe with them taking up the baton for heaven and doing some of the hard yards on Earth, or some more things like out of the movie. as well as a bit of the usual University, real life shenanigans, and so on, as it is funny seeing the three sisters dealing with normal human things.

I don't know whats in the Manga,
Manga's been going for almost 20 years now, and the closest thing they do there is holding hands. It's about pure love, you know. :) Well, Bell does kiss Keiichi from time to time, but he is too shy.

Easy. No sacrificial Arwen ending, and no retarded type-moon ending either.

I don't know. The manga has been runnning for like 25 years now, and is up to something like 30 volumes. Keichi and Belldandy still have not consumated any sort of releationship there and people still seem to be eating it up. While I think they do need to do something better than just "more of the same" for a third season, I hardly think the AMG anime franchise is dead.

20 years, not 25, and 34 volumes. And Keiichi and Bell are quite comfortable with their relationship, not to mention the fact that there are a lot of stuffs happen which are not connected with romance.

Yeah, but my point was that the manga has managed to remain popular for a looooong time without ever "finalizing" the B/K relationship. If they can do it in the manga, there is no reason they can't continue the anime for another season (or more!) following the same tactics. ;)

I really adore the series. To be honest with you, I've never even read the manga and never realized that the whole manga series has been going on for 20 years and I was only introduced to the show early this year.
(Speaking purely from the show's standpoint) I think what pulled me in is the show's distinct "purity" of characters. It's not much like your typical harem type of anime. It's more heart-tugging (in my opinion at least) and focuses more on the more sensitive side of feelings than the more shallow (although i dont want to use that word) sides of relationships like holding hands, kissing, etc. Although I do have to admit that keiichi needs to grow some backbone and there are instances that I just felt so sorry for Belldandy because K was being a jerk. But I suppose it's needed to bring out some more of the show's emotionall aspects. There are a lot of events in various episodes that actually made me teary-eyed (especially ep 23). Overall, I think its a wonderful animeon its own right. It's a good break from the common anime couple that don't get along/always fighting but deep down they love each other sort of thing :)
I have yet to read the manga series starting from the very beginning. Im planning on collecting those soon.Is it availble in any Barnes and Noble or Borders bookstore? Or do you have to order those online?
Oh, might I add that I am very much in love with the musical scores they put in the series! it fits in perfectly with the moods. I'm still trying to find one particular song title that's in season 2 though :( It's the musical score when Bell was fighting Garm part (when she released her built-up energy), the bittersweet sounding one. Anyone know what im talking about?
Demongod86

Silver-Wings
2007-09-14, 15:29
Oh like that inevitable doom sounding music with the chanting? (wow can they use other anime's music for a site like that?)
Its actually the music after that, when the demon Garm (the wolf one in season 2) attacks and Belldandy realizes that she's afraid of losing Keiichi or something after Urd does her mind control over Keiichi to grab the Exorcist's chest, then releases all that energy...
I'm sorry, I know im really confusing and all that :(

To: Silver,
Nice to hear! But now that I think about it, Urd is kinda
"fan-boy" material. Like how the animators took "extra care"
of her in the last episode (S2, Ep24), when she was telling
Kenchi I love you in 12 different languages? Also watch her
after she scares Peorth & Kenchi away.

2007-10-10, 23:42
Haha! I agree. But you have to admit though, despite her being the "seductive" one among the bunch, she still seems to retain that sense of big-sisterly atmosphere about her and she can still act seriously when needed to ;)
VC Matsumoto
2007-10-14, 02:50
Both Urd and Peorth served as "big sisters," but its hinted that she
has some bit of "feeling" for Kenchi that isn't platonic. I think Urd
would be this way as well, but she has more fun taunting
Kenchi for his immaturity and innocense when he's dealing with girls.
If it wasn't for Urd's games with Skuld, she would be the most mature of the
bunch. She also sees Kenchi as a plaything more than any kind of
"love" interest; this doesn't stop her from "playing" in the bath with
Kenchi! ;)

Well about Urd:
Skuld is the brat, Belldandy is the beautiful angel ideal sort of girl, and Urd is sort of the fanservice...that said, she's far more intelligent and mature than most fanservice girls.
Though I gotta admit...I do like her lightning blasts of doom =). She and her mother are downright hilarious at times.

Not exactly an OVA, since it is scheculed to be broadcast on the Japanese TV station TBS. I don't think there has yet been any real info on the format, but it sounds to me like it may be a single episode "special" from what little has been said (although I certainly would not mind being wrong on that). ;)
