okay the new album was released in stores yesterday, im listening to it right now feeling a little dissapointed...

for starters as we all know and love LP as it usually uses rap together with vocals with guitars and some damn good riff rafing in between...

first thing i noticed was that on this cd there are hardly any real LP styled songs.. it sounds more like normal hard rock, as in a non djing and no rapping and without those it feels like LP is just lost entirely... i felt so excited when i heard a new album was coming up but now i find LP a little boring mostly because the vibe that held fans to listen to it over and over again is gone...

has anyone else had this feeling...
why ooh why has my first and most favorite rockband taken the course to dust and failure... :(

Well, I haven’t heard this CD, but I pretty much had an Idea when you explained the changes, its kind of suck in someway.

And yes I have felt the same feeling with my first and Former Favorite RockBand.

Green Day, They were my Favorite and I can say my firs Rock Experince, but after Nimrod, they took a very different and commercial approach to their music, so I ended up loosing the interest in them, Needless to say, I haven’t heard Gren Day Cds after Nimrod, and I’m not interested either.

Wait WHAT!? Their new CD I thought was coming out May 15th in the US and the 14th in other countries.
How did you manage to get your hands on it..... Explain!

yes i was wondering about this as well... i did some research about this and found out that people have been spreading out a fake album by the same name, however the last song is still a LP song preformed in Japan at their live show Qwerty was quite good, though it was much mor eheavy, but i am still worried about wether or not LP is going on a new lane of music or if it will still use their old music

also the first LP TV, promotion for the newest album has been released, the music used int he background inthe end of the clip is from their newer releases.. but it sounds more metal than what fans would be used to...

a friend of mine send me the album, it was quite stupid that i even fell for it rofl

Knowing LP, I think that they will not disappoint. It might be something new from them, but I think they will do it just fine.

It's actually been quite a while that i've been getting new albums before they are released (for example, Dimmu Borgir are releasing a new album in April 28 in Europe and i already have it ).
Some get them from Orkut communities, ppl there say that south american countries get all stuff earlier. The version i believe is that the album is given to a small amount of people who write reviews and somehow the songs leak out from them.

On topic,
If they are not going to make something that follows the line of Meteora (and Reanimation), they are lost. Those albums are the ones that best describe this band.

PS.
I no longer have absolutely any interest in LP whatsoever. The only memory i still have of them is the album Hybrid Theory, which was the first original album i bought.

How exactly is a Screamo band related to anime music just out of interest? I don't think anything they've done anything that has ever been featured in an anime or anything related to anime. I mean other than their song "In The End" being used in just about every unofficial Anime Music Video on the planet and that one music video they did for Breaking The Habit that was animated by Gonzo. Still its a pretty darn loose relation and it's more like anime has been related to Linking Park by chance than Linkin Park is related to anime.

Maybe ya'll should mosey on over to the General Chat forum for this one, I don't know. :thinker:

Maybe this forum shouldn't be "anime music," thereby imparting the false notion that music from anime is the only music worth talking about. Then again, this is a thread about Linkin Park, for Christ's sake, so... the idea that we're discussing music at all is a bit ridiculous.

Also, Linkin Park are not screamo. At all. In any way shape or form. Try to learn about genres before spouting off about them and making yourself look like an idiot.

it was in Geneal chat but it was moved here after i posted it... i found it strange as well, since this is the ANIME music section and LP doesnt do any JROCK so far as i know... the only relationship they have is their gravity style rofl

The album isn't out yet , so don't spoil it, and I doubt their songs will suck.. they've always lived to expectations.. although I heard this album was going to be a different sort of style.

HurricaneHige: Sucks, you don't even like any of their songs? You must be pretty picky.

Kaioshin_Sama: Haha I agree, In the End was so friggin overused. Oh well =S

The forum title and subtitle plainly state that the section is for asian-based music (anime, jpop, jrock, etc) BUT ... in daily practice and reality, the mods move any music-related threads over here.

I tried getting them to just change the title and subtitle of the forum since they were doing that but to no avail.

So carry on :)

there's no real trouble for it to be here, so dont worry too much thanks for asking anyway ^^

and as for producing, yes this year theres someone else budging in on the producement, together with Mike we have Rick Rubin, who has worked with Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine, System Of A Down, Slipknot, AC/DC, Shakira and Jay-Z

Screamo, its the only thing I could attribute to the lead singers insistance on wailing with unpleasant background accompaniment. I don't have any idea what they do to make that unpleasant droning noise that is supposed to pass as the instrumental portions of their songs, but it sounds horrible. I also don't see how the lead singer screeching and elongating parts of his song is supposed to be pleasant or relaxing, which is what I always thought was the reason people listened to music for, relaxation and pleasure.

It really wouldn't bother me at all though if I didn't have to listen to them every night at maximum volume, same CD at work while working extremely hard and suffering a headache from it. Now as a result of classical conditioning, no matter where I hear it I feel pain in my forehead. That caused me to hold them as my most hated and despised band of all time. It would also be nice to have a music video I could watch, but since 99% of them seem to be Breaking The Habit, In The End or one of their other songs I can't remember, you know even if it doesn't fit the series at all, that is all but impossible unless I want a headache.

Lebron
2007-03-23, 01:39
Music is supposed to be different. What is relaxing to you, may not be the case for someone else. Different strokes for different folks really. Also, it doesn't always have to be relaxing. Some music is supposed to get you pumped, get your head banging, the blood flowing, etc. :)

I'm not a big fan of screaming either, but I can deal with it. If he is just screaming at the top of his lungs the whole song, then I probably won't listen. Either they mix it with Shinoda rapping, or Chester will mix the screaming with his normal singing voice.

Still, LP music is overused. Can't tell you how many AMV's are out there that have LP songs. Geez, at least try to be different..

Shinoda does more in the band than just rap, he's probably the one that plays the keyboard part. Hard to tell without seeing them performing it.

Remember songs like Crawling, Breaking a Habit or Numb?

Edit: Just saw the MV, and Shinoda is one of the guitarist in this song.

Yeah... Mr. Han is behind the electric keyboard. I know he's still in there I was wondering he doesn't do his partial rap for LP anymore.

Probably saving his lyrics for the next Fort Minor album.

I heard (from various sources mind you) that the album was supposed to be largely influenced by prog rock. I heard a 30 second sample a few weeks ago (I'm not sure when so bear with me) and was embarassed I ever listened to it.

I may check out the video and all that other nonsense, but from the looks of it, it seems that was ALL hype. Bwahahahaha.

I was a fan of Linkin Park when I was younger...much younger. It faded into dust really quick. ;)

Whatever. I like Linkin Park. I don't need to boost the size of my E-penis by listing my favorite underground bands that no one has ever heard off.
To me Linkin Park has made some awesome songs. I like their sound. I like PoA, One Step Closer, Numb, Breaking the Habit, Faint and In the End.

I don't mind if they change. Bands need to have diversity and change and evolve and sometimes it results in worse albums and sometimes better albums. Thats just the way of the beast:)=

Lawl. It's not about boosting your e-penis. It's about listening to music that isn't watered down dreck. It's about listening to music that has some artistic soul, instead of being 100% commercial garbage intended to attract (and extract money from) a specific demographic. It's about choosing your culture instead of having your culture chosen for you by the big five media conglomerates. There's plenty of "angry" music that's legitimately good, across a lot of different genres, that wasn't hand-picked by a record executive looking to court the "angry teenage boy" market segment.

after hearing tons of people saying it and after finding out minutes later after posting it i think i get the point *feels as if this will haunt her till the end of her days*

i heard their new song a couple weeks ago.. i didnt like it to be honest.. i can stand listening to it but there's something strange about it.. wether it's the constant singing of Chester without many raps... or because i missed the rif rafs. they had some but not as much as i would want to hear... however it is already a bit of a hype here now ont he radio, because they will preform on mainstage on Pinkpop (im going.. not only because of them.. but also due KoRn, MM and smashing pumpkins)... im more curious about their next single than this one :)

I liked the album and most of their songs. That's because I listen to all kinds of music so it doesn't really matter that LP's songs changed from "Nu-Metal," as long as I like it I'm fine. The only track I don't like is the final track, which started off pretty catchy but then drags on for 7+ minutes?

i agree on this point becuase i used to be a big fan and when what i've done came out i was dissapointed....it is a great song in all but it is not linkin park. not the original anyway. as some say they are appeling to new fans but not to some of the old. i think we may not see the old linkin park anymore well not the same as it was anyway.

All I heard here was LP trying to get on the radio like they always do, and they've succeeded a bit with this album. Also, I don't believe they changed their sound. The record company did because Nu-Metal is going out of style. A lot of songs are in the same keys, and some are just same old repetitive LP lyrics. Too many Drop-D chords. They've kind of let me down with this record.

Certainly Linkin Park has changed, but I find their new songs still quite enjoyable.

I mean I just got addicted to "Leave out all the rest".. Sure it's alot softer then their previous albums, but the lyrics are still meaningful.. They sound alot like Coldplay these days, but hey I like Coldplay to so I really don't mind.

Frankly, it's not enjoyable. They sold out to nu metal's "death". If they just stuck to their meteora sound now, they'd be unique. They won't be music legends sorry (blame their 5-year old guitarist).

Kinda mixed. Some songs were awesome like Leave out all the rest and Bleed it out. And they obviously tried to make some controversy with there political songs like What I've done and Hands held high, but i think they diverged too far from what made me love their music with Valentines day and some of the less memorable songs.

Yeah i agree. LP lost its original style. It seems that with every new album they come out with they seem like a whole new band. i was going to buy the album but after previewing songs i just paid for downloads on vcast. maybe 3-4 songs on the album appealed to me but other than that it was way off from what i expected =/ amazon or itunes ftw

You know, I'm probably one of the few people who could even possibly get away with saying "I like Tool" and "I like The Who" whilst uttering "I like Linkin Park" right after and still keep my head in tact...I don't know how, but somehow, Linkin Park really attracts to me...I used to hate them during "Hybrid Theory" but changed my mind during "Meteora" and retconned myself by going backwards and finding myself liking their first album...So when "Minutes to Midnight" first came out, I was almost ready to release it on it's release date, but just reluctant enough to hold out on the purchase until the spring of this year, and only motivated enough to start actually listening to it over the summer...

And you know...I was both excited and disappointed...

Excited in that with the help of Rick Rubin, Linkin Park put out a moderately mature album that doesn't sound as "all over the place" as their last two releases were...They seemed to be more focused composition wise, as the songs seemed less like songs and a little like compositions...They toned down the rap-rock aspect of it, and they've got Chester screaming less...Both are pluses for me...I really have to give it to Chester for his singing abilities on "Leave Out All The Rest", "Shadow Of The Day" and "Valentine's Day"...

Disappointments? It wasn't heavy enough like their last two albums...Yeah, you have "Given Up", "Bleed It Out" and "No More Sorrow", but that just isn't enough...You've got three really heavy songs while the rest are just too soft...Now I don't mind the soft songs because I also like melody, but I wanted a better balance of heavy and soft like on "Meteora"...

My main disappointment, and continuing complaint of Linkin Park? Lyrically, Chester Bennington is an emo-pussy..He wines too goddamn much...When I first heard that "Minutes To Midnight" would be more mature, I took it that Chester's so-called "problems" would be absent from the lyrics, and yes, while I still found the album overall matured, it still doesn't hide the fact that the lyrics on paper are still largely written by an emo-bitch...If I think about the lyrics too much, I start hating them; One thoughtful moment on the lyrics of "Valentine's Day" and you almost wanna pull off a Kurt Cobaine and shoot yourself out of misery...Mike Shinoda's pathetic attempt at a "political" song with "Hands Held High" seems nothing more like an aimless attempt at sounding serious and thoughtful when instead it's a political bandwagon trend that I hate hearing in entertainment, and I can't take Mike seriously when he raps like that either...

Is it a good album? Yes...Could it be better? Yes...Do I blame Chester Bennington for it's shortcomings? Hell yes!

Rick Rubin deserves better people to work with than this...

Daughter!
2008-08-30, 08:16
This album from the first song to the last song was screaming "hey guys! hey look! we have singles! look at all the singles! and there's rap too! you like rap?" The only track I could bear to listen to is "Shadow of the Day." They got some good electronics on that one. Other than that this record is trash.

Even a producer like Rick Rubin could only do so much to an album like this.

MidnightViper88
2008-08-30, 09:45
You have to give it to Linkin Park for their marketing strategy of releasing singles out the ass...Rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s used to do that, but there are a lot of bands of today that will produce a 13-track CD or whatever and only release 2 or 3 singles off of it...
