This thread is dedicated to letting you share Lucky Star related images. You may post wallpapers, doujin art, gif or flash animations, etc. that you have found or created.

That's way too many Lucky Star adaptation pictures lol... And some of them kinda miss the mark, because they don't pay attention to the fact that the eye style is supposed to be almost a straight line on both sides. Just look at Kagami for example.

It's easy if you know how to maneuver your Photoshop(or Illustrator) well....
+ He used black outlines to make them, which is easier than colored ones(like the one in your sig), and he didn't bother with blurs or lighting effects.

You can make one in an hour or less....

A trace in less than an hour....that's just wow!! :twitch:

Between selecting the pic, cropping it, setting the layers and picking the outlines colors I could easily blow 20 minutes off, and that's before doing a single line of the trace. :heh:

Something that I'm somewhat working on... Have to post it here or else someone like Daniel E. will end up doing it and I'll be doing the whole thing for no reason...

You dont have to worry about me, I have never traced the same character two times in a row....at least not yet. :heh:

And about working on the same pic at the same time as someone else.... I dont think is much of a problem (happened to me twice already). Two traces/vectors of the same pic, done by different people, will almost always end up looking different.

Looking forward to see yours finished. :)

Omedetou! :o I really really like the choice of the blue-ish background because that makes it different from the usual. And I find Akira's figure to contrast well with it. I think I might use it as wallpaper quite soon :)

That's really rather a pretty/cute/itmustbemymine version of Kona. I'd like to see how they portray the rest of the gang.

Hair: maybe that's Kona's ultimate "WIN" ... the combination of moppy antennae hair couple with an ahoge coupled with Tsuruya hair length and finished off with petite body height ... it MUST be obeyed (or at least invited to any gaming session).

I prefer the glitched out hair to the ground version of Kona in the cheerleading sequence of the opening actually. It only works when she's Chibi for me though. In the realistc version she just looks to tall. There's something about anime girls that are really short and have ridiculously long hair that wins me over for some reason. If they are average height I'd prefer they have a hairstyle like Ami Mizuno has going on (and it's not just because my hair length is about the same as hers). I'm not a narcissist......

Man what's keeping the artists who draw stuff from scratch. There's too much pallet swapping for my tastes, it's just uncreative and uninteresting after like the 30th one. Who keeps doing these anyway? This show has to have one of the lowest original fanart and doujin art count for a hyped series I've ever seen. Kind of disappointing to be honest as I was looking forward to a bustling image thread.

It's almost ridiculous how many hours are put into coloring a sketch that took five minutes to draw on a pad of paper, tops. This was my first time ever coloring a sketch in Photoshop though, so hopefully I'll be able to color in record time after some more practice. Er, you can only swap a pallet so many times before it becomes repetitive. If you look at Final Fantasy 6 the all-time champion of pallet swapping, there's only about 4 renditions of each monster. Thus, I would think that would be something of an upper limit. Pallet swapping for each of the girls beyond 4 different anime characters is excessive and we are well beyond that. I want to see art of the actual characters, not characters from other anime shows to make them look like the one's from this show. I've been saving up my pics of the good artwork to make a rar archive out of. Once it's done I plan to share it as a torrent or something.

Okay... THAT's what I'm talking about (though you probably ought to thumbnail it 'for the sake of the dialup children'). Art done in a variety of styles that if well done obviously are interpretations of the characters (like doing Kagami in a Mahoraba or Love Hina style... or in a unique personal style).

Only complaint with that pic is that Kagami should be almost a head taller than Konata...

Luckily I know it is in fact a quiz game, where you face off against the characters on a variety of topics (I assume some are better at certain topics than others such as Konata with Video Games and Miyuki with Astrophysics or whatever it is she's good at.

I brought this game up a while back and as usual nobody took any notice (probably because everybody has me on their ignore list).

That is if she's memorized the pattern already. Maybe she hasn't had time yet. Speaking of which I was playing Rance 3 this morning when I came upon a quiz game. I didn't bother to read the questions or answers, but simply remembered what position they where in. I won all 4 quizes (5 questions each from a pool of 20 each) and unlocked a door in about 3 minutes.

I wish the sub had done a better job at explaining what it was she did (Lucky Channel had "Memorized Answers" instead of "Memorized Patterns", which is what Kagami clearly accused her of and was found to be correct on when Konata denied it and her nose grew like Pinnochio's. It kind of killed the joke unless you listened as well as read subtitles for errors).

Basically if Kagami were to hand her a brand new cartridge and force her to play of the bat without having a chance to memorize anything then Konata would do horribly. The fun thing about Konata is she is kind of like Mr. Bean. She has no innate talent in anything other than the stunning ability to find a workaround for her shortcomings in a variety of situations. Watch Yu Yu Hakusho episodes 81-83 for a great explanation of this workaround for quiz games. I should also mention I can now wallop the computer at NES Jeopardy at my Grandmother's since I remember all the answers now. After that you need to move onto the next edition, kind of like with Trivial Pursuit.

Are you using gaussian blur or the blur tool to make the effect?

In the siggy version yes, but the trace doesn't has any. I haven't used a single bit of black in my latest stuff (outlines or color), so that's probably why the whole thing seems lighter-looking.

I did use gaussian blur on the last Shuffle stuff I made, but I got mixed feedback on that and now I am going for something different (colored outlines).

I'll probably stick with that for the rest of the Lucky traces. :D

And I know how to make icons for the Athena version (based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4), but I also know that each version of Linux is different, so could you tell me what your icons look like? What are the dimensions, and what is the format (.png?)? As soon as I know, I'll make and upload the icons, yakusoku no yubikiri. :)

No worries. :)

For regular icons, right-click and click Properties. There should be a "Change Icon..." button under the Customize tab.

For the "special" icons like My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc., go to your Control Panel, then go to Display (maybe it's "Appearance and Themes"), and click on the Desktop tab. Click on the "Customize Desktop..." button, and from there you can select which icons you want to change.

True enough, although Linux runs just fine on Mac hardware or, more conveniently, in a virtual machine on OS X. :D

OS X and Linux are two haves of my whole computing philosophy. Windows only enters in when I'm required to use it for a particular program or, far more often, I have to fix it for some one else.

I never heard "I BUY SAUSAGE" until my apartment-mate (active browser at SA forums and 4chan) told me about it. Apparently, the very first line of the OP sounds like "I BUY SAUSAGE" to most people... The real line is "ai mai sansenchi" (random note: I believe "senchi" is "centimeter" shortened to "centi" and pronounced with a Japanese accent XD), if I'm not mistaken.

...I know, it's weird. But now even I can hear it. :p

Yep, 128x128 will work just fine, and people can certainly batch convert them if it won't.

Watch out, though--the new OS X due for release soon and near-future versions of Linux deskto environments will support 512x512 icons. :D

We can hope the one on the left doesn't appear for some time. That's the moment I've been dreading for a long time, the day Chihara Minori joins the cast. Once she's in it officially and the more she is in it from then onward, and I can guarantee this, the more my enjoyment of the show will be going PFTOOOOOOO (Sound effect for bottom falling out and quality dropping). I hope she's as peripheral a character as is humanly possible. In fact I hope she's this shows Yorick or one those other characters in Shakespeare plays that exist for no other reason than to point the main character in the right direction.

Thanks for letting me know; I was worried about that. :heh: (And 512x512 is huuuge!)

PNGs at the same sizes as Windows and OS X will work just fine for most any Linux window manager/desktop environment. :)

I was confused by this because the mac icons can be a whole bunch of different sizes (I was thinking, "so it's all right if I make them 16x16?"). ;__;

She's pretty peripheral in the comic... mostly existing as a foil for Konata's never-ending pokes at stereotypes like our klutzy moe intelligent glasses girl. (of course, she's tall instead of waifish).

I'd be kind of surprised if she was in more than just in a few cameo sequences. There's a string of characters that are "tier 3" (if you consider sensei, Kona's cousin, Kagami's family, and Kona's dad as tier 2). They might get an episode focused on them.... or they might get a stint over in the Lucky Channel segment where they can run riot with skewering the archetypes.
